We went here this weekend to pick up a pizza, salad and cinnamon knots and the quality has gone way down. My husband and I wondered what the heck was going on as this place was BOMB - and we checked yelp, and yep, new management. Ingredients are missing from menu items, and the quality of cooking is just gone (super doughy cinnamon knots which was gross), very limp anemic looking caesar salad, and the mushroom pizza was blah as they didn't bother including the amazing gorgonzola cheese or really any other cheese other than mozzarella (provolone, burrata, parmesan were all missing) and the assortment of seasonal mushrooms were just regular mushrooms. Looks like we're finding a new pizza place, which sucks, because this place used to be a gem. read more

For starters, the selection is more limited, the customer service isn't as good, and their business hours have been reduced (they started closing at 8pm). This is one of the best pizza places and one of my favorites. It is located in a little strip mall near Custom Melt, which is owned by the same people, and down the street from Moorpark College. You can either take it to go or sit down and eat there. If you sit down, they will bring you menus and take your order at the table. The restaurant is small and it can get crowded. There are few tables outside as well. The wood fired pizzas are fantastic with a perfectly crisp crust. The dough is perfect and makes a great base for all of the pizzas. My favorite is the sausage pizza. I love the fresh mozzarella on pizza. It really makes a difference in the taste. The menu also includes some great salads. I am partial to the mixed greens. I think that the shaved carrots are a nice touch and the balsamic vinaigrette is one of the best that I have ever tasted. The desserts are to die for and include tiramisu and gelato, both of which are super delicious. I have yet to try the Campfire Pie but it looks pretty good. The restaurant is very clean and well kept. The drink area is well maintained. The employees are all super friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure that you are having a nice meal. Parking is plentiful in the adjacent lot. I highly recommend the pizza at Custom Pie! You will not be disappointed. read more

We were invited here on a yelp event and it quite tasty. Let me just say, I am not a pizza person (crazy I know!) but I did enjoy the pizza I had here. We were able to try the wedge salad, the asparagus, and the mix salad. The wedge salad and mix salad was tasty but a bit heavy handed on the cheese. If you like cheese, then no problem. Otherwise, I highly recommend the asparagus salad instead! Super tasty and cooked to perfection! I tried a number of pizza but the best one I would recommend is the El Diablo (if you like spicy). I also tried the smore pizza for dessert and that was quite amazing too! Nothing can go wrong when you put ice cream, nutella, and chocolate swirly on a pizza dough! We ordered two pizzas, not baked by the owner, and the end results were different enough to warrant an updated review. The first slice of each pizza was OK, but the pizza crusts quickly turned rock-hard. No one at the table really wanted to eat an additional slice, and half of our party was not pizza snobs. It just wasn't good. Caputo pizzeria flour is intended to be used with very high heat baking temperatures; 905F and under two minutes. This is symptomatic of baking this particular type of flour at lower temperatures and longer times. They really need to switch to a high gluten or bread flour that is more in keeping with the style that they're trying to make; Calipolitan. The toppings were placed very sloppily. They both had too much cheese and it wasn't melted enough so that it just became a single, solid object. read more

My review is based on the food, decor and cleanliness. Not on the service. The reason for that is I was here for a special event. So service was obviously top notch for that. Moving onto the food and everything else:) I started off with the Iceberg wedge. The lettuce was pretty fresh. Blue cheese dressing was quite tasty and the bacon was tasty. Can't ever go wrong with bacon:) Next I was able to try many different pizzas. I will go through them all. First I tried the Margarita pizza. It was what you'd expect from any usual Margarita pizza. But I have to say the crust on this pizza was very tasty and very fresh. The dough is well made and definitely something I noticed right away. El Diablo pizza. This was by far my favorite. WOW what flavor this pizza has. The spicy taste of the marinara to the sweet savory taste of the italian salami. This is a must have pizza if you enjoy spicy food and pizza. It's not overbearing with spice at all so don't be afraid. Overall this place is a good little spot for pizza no doubt about it. The owner is nice and and has great recipes. The place is very clean and the decor is modern. They could use some more TV's but at least they have one. I would definitely recommend this place if you'd like a much better tasting pizza than your average dominos etc. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is due to the place needing a bit more TV's and that it's still just pizza. Nothing really stood out greatly that impressed me so much that I had to tell everyone about this place. But like I said. The dough is definitely one thing that stood out. Finally! A freakin' delicious pizza joint in Moorpark! I know Custom Pie has been around for a little while, but hubby and I finally got the chance to come in and try it this week. It's located in a shopping center near Moorpark College. I think it's a great location for good ole' Moorpark. The place itself is cute, I can't wait till Summer so we can hang out outside. We ordered the Carne Pizza, and if you're a herbivore, it's not for you. I normally always get veggies on my pizza, but this time, I let hubby choose, and oh man, this meaty pizza was so delicious! The crust came out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The cheese was stringy and yummy. I'm usually not a crust kinda girl, but I devoured that whole thing! The place is located in a nice shopping center right out of Moorpark college. First and foremost the employees were really nice, they even brought our dog a bowl of water. One thing to note is that the pizza is not cheap, I would actually say its a bit on the pricy side. What I thought was a good price however was the pazzini (the pizza panini). My girlfriend and I ended up ordering the mac and cheese pizza (with the bacon on the side because she is vegetarian) and I got the BLT. The mac and cheese pizza was delicious. It had a chipotle aoili on it and I thought the bacon added a nice meaty saltiness that contrasted the richness of the cheese very well. The flavors were well balanced and I loved the thing crust could hold the toppings wells without getting too lost. I did think it needed some freshness to balance out all of the incredibly powerful flavors going on, so I think I would give this pizza 4/5 stars. I also ordered the pazzini which was a stroke of genius in my opinion. The pizza that they use as the sandwhich bread added a layer of flavor and crisp, and then they LAYERED the bacon on top. I mean a good 2cm thick layer of baconn on the inside that was cooked nice and crispy. It also had very tomatoes wich I LOVE because they don't overload the sandwich with tomato texture but it still allows the powerful flavor of the tomato to shine through the bacon. Together the pizza bread cooked with cheese, the richness of the tomato, and the bacon made it something truly special. It also came with potato wedges on the side that were cooked perfectly and rounded out the meal well. This was the best version of a BLT I have ever had, and I give this a 5/5 stars. read more

Since we live super close, I opted to avoid any potential delivery fees for me, or for him and chose to pick up the food. Ordered two pizza's, a cheese, and a pepperoni along with two salads (Garden salad, and a Caesar salad). He said the food would be ready in about 15-20 minutes. As I arrived, the pizzas were just about to come out of their wood burning pizza oven. Yes, a TRUE WOOD BURNING pizza oven! Cant beat the taste of that. The was still smoking hot when I got it home. My 5 year old, who is an absolute pizza snob, LOVED this pizza. Perfectly cooked wood fired pizza. Happy to say that the salads were super super fresh. In addition to a solid meal, the happy hour pricing is fantastic. Look it up for the hours of Happy hour but for example, a Large Cheese pizza was $16 and the salads were $9 bucks each. I recommend this place for dinner for sure! We arent big drinkers, but they also have a huge selection of beer and wine on their menu, and I think there is a bar also attached that they own as well. Decided to try this place last Saturday night. I went with my mom around 6pm and there were only 2 other families here. The service was great! This is a small family owned business, and the owners were doing it all! Taking orders and making food. They were really friendly. We ordered the garlic cheese bread and a 14 inch half cheese, half pepperoni pizza and I got a fountain drink. All of that came to $35, which I thought was a pretty decent deal. After they took our order, we waited about 15 minutes for our garlic cheese bread and then another five for our pizza. As you can see by the picture, we dug into the garlic cheese bread before I could get a picture. It might be the best garlic cheese bread I've ever had!!! I would go back just for that alone! The pizza was really good too!! I could tell it was made with fresh ingredients. The crust was crispy enough but still soft. 10/10 service and food! Can't wait to come back again soon! read more

Custom Pie has the best pizza I have ever tried. I went with a group yesterday after a basketball game. We actually sat at the bar next door which is owned by them as well. The only thing I didn't like is we were standing there awhile and weren't greeted at all. The tea was also empty but the worker we notified was so nice about it and refilled it as soon as it was done. One of the pizzas we ordered was the roasted vegetable pizza which was so delicious. The balsamic dressing really tied it all together and made me go back for seconds. We also ordered a pepperoni , mushroom, fennel sausage, and bbq chicken. First time here. Owner Hakob and his brother were friendly and courteous. there was only one other man in the restaurant at the time of our visit and he was already eating his custom pie. We ordered the larger sized mushroom custom pie and 2 draught beers (we love Enegren Valkyrie). I would have tried a smaller pie and an appetizer but I thought the appetizers were over -priced. Nice, clean patio, we were their only customers out there. The pie took 20 minutes in a wood-burning oven? From experience I know wood-burning oven pizza takes about 3-5 minutes. Pretty long wait. The beer was nice and cold. Pizza had a good flavored crust. There was a music speaker in the corner of their patio playing very awkward, strange music VERY LOUDLY. I went over and turned the volume down. The brother brought out our plates and utensils in advance which is nice but only 1 napkin each, the smallest cheapest see-through napkin ever (like toilet paper), but honestly that was kinda funny. The only other diner came out as we were just getting started, we greeted one another and I asked if he enjoyed his custom pie, which he did! Overall, we thought the pizza flavor was good, can't go wrong with Valkyrie, appeared to be very clean, bad music (easy fix), and a decent lunch. We doubt we will give it another go. Not as good as they used to be back in 2013. The pies here used to be just like the pizza I grew up with on Long Island and the city, but not anymore. Gone are the big bubbles along the edge of the crust and really good tasting cheese and super light sauce. Now the pies are just above average. Still a decent pie but you spoiled us back in 2013-15. I worked in Moorpark for several years and I can't believe I waited this long to try it. I went with coworkers and shared the mixed green salad. This was a delicious salad that had fresh ingredients but the one thing that I enjoyed most was the balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I dare say that this was probably one of the better dressings I've ever had! Yeah, it's that good! Of course, we had a pizza and it was half an El Diablo and half potato bacon. Love the pizzas here and have been coming here since they opened. I stayed away for a little bit after the they had a rough patch a year or so after opening, but this place is definitely worth a visit. The pizzas are made fresh and they cover them with enough toppings so you don't feel like you were skimped on. I stayed away from the menu items and decided to make my own with pepperoni, salami and mushrooms. They've always had the best pepperoni (mini) and the best salami and this time didn't disappoint. I did notice they added a few newer items since the last time I went and they even have a dessert pizza with Nutella that I was told was very good. I highly recommend this place for a great pizza. Well I really hate to do this, but I must. Since the change in ownership, Custom Pie has diminished it's quality while increasing it's curb appeal. The place looks much nicer and now offers beer and wine as well as gelato. But, the quality of pizza has gone down since the days when it first opened. They now seem to be less free handed with all toppings including sauce. The dough is hit and miss. Sometimes it's just perfect, flavorful, light, with the perfect cook. Other times it's dense, bland, and burnt to a blacked crisp. I would really like to see the ownership return to the days of making great, flavorful wood fired pizza. With an appropriate amount of toppings on a pizza that carries the price tag that these do. Living so close, about 1 1/2 miles away, I was a regular. But since the changes I find myself a much less frequent visitor. Sadly, after most visits, I am so disappointed that I am reluctant to return. This is a grade A Gem in Moorpark, right off Collins and worth the drive. As someone with a horrible allergy to black pepper the fact that these guys can make exactly what I want and not mess it up is awesome. These people keep making burnt crust. I asked them to please make the crust medium even blonde but they won't listen. I explained I didn't like a charred Pizza and they decided to lose my business. They told me never to come back again. The new ownership is terrible . I have been coming here for years without any problems until now. Three out of five times they get it right since the change of ownership. When they do it well they do it well. When they do it wrong they now get defensive and argumentative. Very sad. read more
