From the beginning, I did like the retro lady at the front who also had scalp issues like me as she used/has used products in the past that have dried out her hair but after she spoke to the salon owner, Victoria, they recommended the products that they sell and thankfully at the time they had smaller "travel" sizes. They came at a cost for sure and the smell was overpowering at best especially for the shampoo and I wasn't really sure they would work. They swore that it would be better than what you were using in the past so, give it a shot and see what you think; Davines 2 products "travel" size cost me a little over $70 dollars and I was like wow. I tried it a couple of times and come to find out you don't always get what you pay for and sadly it was drying, fragrance overload and too much protein that my hair didn't need and they both knew that from the beginning before purchasing it and at this price it did the same thing as the products that I've used in the past-- ugh! I used them up until I got my haircut but pitched afterwards as the smell would give anyone a headache. Truth be said, more expensive is not necessarily better either as sometimes cheaper is better; it really boils down to the ingredients and then consider the cost-- lesson learned. I then scheduled a h/c with Victoria as the lady at the front thought I was in good hands. It's a nicely set up salon, a very big receptionist area with too much space; not best utilized. Victoria, is a quiet straightforward owner and I can appreciate that, but at the same time she isn't any better than stylists in the past. She didn't put any heat protectant in my hair and flat ironed it first and then cut it and said, she works in a precise manner as she has a process but when I said, I have no heat protection in my hair she said, I would be fine but didn't think to have her stop as she is in business for a reason but to this day I still don't understand why she did it that way and not the "right" way to prevent damage but who knows and then she washed it and styled it with SO much argan oil that my hair was flat at best and so weighed down. I told her that it's an oil that is very heavy and all you need is a little bit not three pumps or more and I couldn't wait to go home and wash my hair-- yuck! I over-paid at best and won't be back. I really don't think that they care much that I wasn't happy as it seems to be a business that while they try to listen they don't and while they think that they know how to cut hair at best they don't. Lastly, call first before popping in as they are not always open till 4pm as their hours state above-- they close early without letting anyone know especially when they are dead. While it is nice to give your employees a break, its also helpful to let your customers know too so that they don't go out of their way to make a special trip and then feel it is a wasted one because you decided to close early and not tell anyone. I made an appointment mostly based on the cute name of the business AND the reviews of Victoria. I am SO incredibly happy I did! My hair looks GORGEOUS! It's the best it has looked in YEARS! Danielle Green is a fantastic cutter who knows her way around a head full of curls. She has beautiful curls herself. She will cut your hair dry...which is as it should be. We all know how much shrinkage we get when it's cut wet. She has a great eye and will shape your locks anyway you like, making sure they flatter your face. She also will hook you up with just the right products you need to keep your curls moist and fab in our harsh dry weather. We formerly drove all the way to Cali for hair cuts, never having found someone to cut curls properly here in the valley. My hair stylist, Sarah Bazzell, moved to this salon recently. The salon is very nice, clean, airy and has good lighting. Everybody that works there seemed happy and very friendly. I had my first color and cut with Sarah Bazzell 11 years ago and continue to get my hair done with her every 3 months. In my opinion, she is a very talented hair stylist. I used to travel to California to get my hair done because I could not find a stylist that I really liked in town. One weekend I was inspired and decided to go to a salon near my house and had my hair color stripped and added a new color that should have closely matched my natural color. I should have known something was amiss when the guy finished the job and had me leave with damp hair. When my hair dried, there were orange spots all over my head. In a panic I called a salon in a directory (no Yelp back then) and I was given an appointment with Sarah Bazzell. Sarah explained the color process and put me at ease that my hair would look normal again. She fixed my color and gave me a great haircut. I walked out of the salon feeling like a new person. Sarah has a very good understanding on how to cut hair, and she is very knowledgeable with color techniques. My hair is straight and thick and she layers it to give it body and volume. My hair maintains the new look several months after the cut. Sarah is very patient and gives good suggestions. She is very personable and easy to talk to. I love catching up with her and hear about her life, family and kids. I never had a bad hair color or cut with Sarah and always walked out of the salon happy with the service. I'll definitely be booking my next hair appointment with her! Before Sarah started, she asked me about my hair routine and what my ideal look is for my hair. Then she went over color swatches with me, and gave me advice about how to dry/straighten my hair effectively and with the least amount of damage possible (so as to help it strengthen and grow). When I called for an initial appointment, they told me they had a cancellation. I felt so lucky and assumed that being booked except for the cancellation meant they were a hip, busy salon (which is what I would expect for an upscale Henderson location). However, when I arrive, the salon was absolutely dead. There was no cancellation-- they were just not busy. At all. One stylist looked bored out of her mind and was sitting at her station cruising her cell phone. Very unprofessional. They also failed to ask/warn me that they were putting me with a stylist who had just graduated beauty school five months earlier. She is not ready to be cutting hair without at least having a more experienced stylist look over her work. But I should back up. Her shampoo was horrible. She only got the surface of my hair and did not even touch/scrub my scalp. She also put shampoo on the hair by my temples and didn't rinse it out. She also only wet the top layers of my hair and the bottom layers of my hair were barely, BARELY damp to prepare for the cut. The cut resulted in the most choppy, unblended layers I have ever had. When she got done with the cut she said, "I can cut more layers if you want me to"...Ummm, no thanks! The charge was 40 dollars...too much for a junior stylist. She would probably do okay with a basic cut, but does not have the skill level yet for more intricate hairstyles. It was all just very underwhelming and felt like what I would get at Fantastic Sams, Supercuts, etc. read more
