It's unfortunate that there isn't a no-star option on Yelp. Cutter lied to us and manipulated us. I would never recommend this dealer to anyone! We just found out that the used car we bought from them has an accident record, but they told us that there hadn't been any accidents. I know they knew, because they run reports on all their cars. Like the other posts said I only rated 1 star as there is not a choice for 0!! My expierience with the service team here was the worst customer service experience I've had in my life. I brought my vw here to have it service as I wasn't able to start it and thought it might be the alternator, the staff and mechanics were very rude and wouldn't talk with me about what they were planning to do, instead they insisted that the engine needed to be lifted and that is was going to cost around $2000 just to diagnose the problem. Not having that kind of cash I had a mechanic friend of mine look at it, turns out some spark plugs needed replaceing. Now I won't claim to be any kind of car savvy and honestly I dont look it, and these people tried to take advantage of that! They are scam artists and anyone that gives them a good rating either works for them or are friends with the staff! Beware and stay away from these low life's!!! read more

The worst experience I have ever had at a car dealership. I came in search of a car, very particular I knew exactly what I wanted. The salesman at first was very kind but seemed to be in a bit of rush to push the car onto me, as most salesmen are. I was trading in an older car I've had since I was in high school to help with my down payment. The salesmen got an appraisal done for my car and took the proof of insurance, registration and safety. I didn't see it again. I had a sticky situation, I left the hard copy of my license at another dealership & I had to leave to pick it up, I explained it to the salesman so I could get my things back and have my friend who was with me drive me back to the dealership to get my license, the salesman offered to take us there himself, but an hour had passed I asked again and no certainty of going to get my license or returning my documents to me. I was still interested in buying the car and assured him I would come right back I just didn't want to leave my license with anyone. Time goes on approx 3 hours later, still no one spoke to me about leaving for my license my friend and I were hungry, and I also hadn't received my documents. Every time I attempt to leave I get an excuse, or a "let's see what we can do with these numbers for you". I wasn't happy with the numbers they were talking either but the customer service had me much more upset than the price of the car at this point. I asked for the CarFax they brought me back a different report and gave a reason as to why they don't give CarFax. I asked again for the CarFax because I wasn't comfortable with the situation anymore, also seeing the car and that the previous owner hadn't taken the best care of it. I told them I would just pull up the CarFax for myself if they wouldn't provide it for me, I got some attitude back from the salesman.(mention I was seen by 3 salesmen). Still asking for my documents back, and asking when I would be able to get my license back. They were very pushy, I told them I was feeling pressured to buy the car and I didn't feel comfortable with it anymore of course they said "we aren't here to pressure you", I have never felt so strained while attempting to purchase a vehicle. It was all very unstable and had a shady vibe. I was told by a salesman "the doors are always open because you have the right to leave at anytime." Ironically the same salesman stood in front of the door to talk my friend and I into wasting more time at the dealership, still hungry, still no documents back. I'm never a person to become easily upset but I was furious. We spent 5 hours at the dealership, I told them I was not going to purchase the car and had to use a stern tone of voice before they understood I wanted my things back and to get into the car that I still carried the title to and I was completely fed up with their crappy service. In the beginning I had every intention on coming back to the dealership to complete the purchase after retrieving my license and eating lunch. But after feeling that I had been held hostage, constantly lied to, and crushed from the pressure applied by the salesmen I wanted nothing to do with them anymore as a whole. When I finally got my things back and went to get food and my license, I decided to buy from a different dealership. I spent less than 4 hours there and left with an amazing car, that I was truly happy with, and I had confidence knowing that I was making the right decision with my purchase. They made me feel guilty for wanting a fair price for my trade in. After I changed my mind they were so hard to work with to get my registration back for my old car. Stay away from this place. I should have left when I was waiting around for a salesman and two of their employees started loudly cursing over stealing each other's clients. One got violent and started slamming things around and had to be escorted off the property. It took 4 hours of negotiating to get settled on a fair price for a used car. But I drove off with the car I wanted at a price I was happy with so I was willing to overlook that. And then they took so long to pay off my trade-in that I was getting notices of default from my former loan company! It was such a hassle to even get through to anyone in finance. Then I had a problem with the car that was the dealerships responsibility but they never owned up to it and then tried to bill me for the repair! Here's the icing on the cake though...the car had a roach colony living in the vents! We had to bomb the car to get rid of it...it was disgusting! I ended up trading in the car 2 years later and when I tried to get my refund for the remainder on my warranty, my problems started all over again. I went back and forth with Shane Silva in finance and he literally said "look, I've got lots of other things on my desk right now, and I'm not going to get to this for a while." He wasn't kidding...2 months later and no refund I was so fed up with Shane that I contacted Mark Price in finance and he solved my problem within hours!!! Thank you Mark...you were the only positive experience with Cutter Mazda and that 1 star is all yours! read more

I absolutely HATE this place. The service was good and the sales person was very helpful until we sat down and talked $$$ in the office. UGH... just UGH... I told him that I was thinking to lease and not going to sign today because I didn't want them to run my credit.(I am in a process of purchasing a home so I didn't want them to run my credit). I just wanted to know how much I need to put for down payment and monthly payment for 36 months lease. I told him which car and grade I want but he kept asking me which one I like. He finally got numbers for me. HE SHOWED ME HOW MUCH IT WILL COST TO OWN A CAR. So I had to tell him AGAIN that I want to lease. Then he asked me how much I am willing to pay for down payment and monthly payment. Umm... I don't really know how this works but I see the price on the car I liked and can't you just come up with numbers? Can't you just tell me how much the down payment and monthly payment will be based on the price?? At this point I wanted to leave but he brought in his boss and he asked me what will make me sign TODAY. I had to tell him AGAIN that I am not GOING TO DO ANYTHING TODAY. Told the sales person to send me a quote via email. As I was walking out from the office, another boss greeted me and asked me what will change my mind. I got so annoyed so I just left. Did I get a quote from them? NOPE. I got phone calls from a office staff and a manager several days later so I asked for a quote then he said he need to pull my credit score in order for him to give me a quote. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Honda and Ford gave me quotes within 30 minutes without pulling my credit score. Too bad I liked the car a lot. :-( I understand that they are sales people and their job is to sell cars but come on, it's too much and just annoying. Everyone... don't waste your time. read more

Last month we traded in our 2003 corrola for a 2013 c-x5. The day we look/ bought our car they were great and very helpful. Anytime after they have been straight out rude! We payed to have navigation installed in our car. They said they would call us with in the week to set up the appointment well it's been a month and they are just now getting around to it. it has taken 6 call, 3 of which were to a manager and 2 visits for them to install the navigation that we payed for!!! To top it all off they messed up my name on my title and registration. They told me it was my fault because I did not check the paper work. But it's funny how they can spell my name correctly for the credit report and the contract and all the documents that I have but miss spell it on everything else. I LoVe my car but this was a terrible experience and terrible customer service!! Do not go here if at all possible! read more

First, we had the cheesy salesman who felt the need to convey some racist stories and pester my wife about her employer. First I have to say, I should have read the reviews before visiting this dealership and I might have been saved such a terrible experience. My husband and I went car shopping with the idea of checking out a Mazda CX-9. We walked in and were greeted by sales associate Armando. He was very young and made some comments to show he might be new at this, but we gave him a chance to earn our business. We told him we'd like to see a 2013 model. He checked the inventory and told us he needed to take us to Waipahu to see them. When we asked if we could follow him there (since we live in Ewa and were on a tight schedule), he said we couldn't. I should have known right there to leave and just drive out to Waipahu Cutter myself. We looked at the vehicles. Both were sticker priced a few thousand over fair purchase price. We drove back the vehicle we thought was a bit more in our price range. I was paying cash for the vehicle so I made an offer that was at the top of the fair purchase price range for that particular vehicle in a certified pre-owned category. I also told them what I wanted for my trade-in, which was also right in the middle of the fair trade in value. They came back with their paper full of numbers explaining that since my trade in was a hybrid they may have to spend $5000 on a battery for it. Why would you buy a battery when it doesn't need one and you're going to turn right around and sell it anyway? They came up with every excuse in the book and treated us like we were complete idiots. I explained again that I made them a very reasonable offer on the vehicle and I wasn't going to budge on either number. I thanked them for their time and walked away. My husband and I were in the parking lot and their customer care manager (or so he called himself) Don Johnson, came out and asked us again to come up on the purchase price of the car. He said, we're so close but we can't let it go for that amount. I explained no matter what he said, that the car was not worth what they wanted for it and that I made them a very reasonable offer and there was nothing left to talk about. I got a bunch more explanations of how my hybrid trade-in was going to cost them all kinds of money and I couldn't get them to understand that THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE OTHER CAR!!!! So we drove away. 5 minutes later, Armando called us and told us he had another vehicle we could see that we could get for a lessor amount and it had less miles. Sounded like a win-win. The vehicle was nice and we decided to make an offer. They assumed that I wanted to do the same deal as the day before. I explained that since this vehicle was not certified pre-owned, I was not going to make the same offer because this vehicle was not worth the same price. I made another top end of the suggested fair market price offer. I was dealing with Don Johnson, the supposed "customer care manager". He is insulting me and telling me that my numbers are wrong. I pull out my KBB app and show him exactly where I'm getting my numbers. I'm even willing to show him prices of competing vehicles online and in the area. Of course he doesn't want to hear that. He'd rather insult me and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about and that he does this everyday so he is the expert. YELPERS!!! I should have walked away. I didn't. I asked him to meet me half-way. To come down on his price only $500. He added that $500 to my trade and I told him he had a deal and shook his hand. He slammed the papers on the desk and rolled his eyes and shouted "GOD"! Showing me how annoyed he was with my existence. YELPERS!!! Once again, I should have walked away. I didn't. I let him come in and tell me that he needed to put me under a finance contract until my check cleared. I refused. I told him I was not going to go under a finance contract and my check was not going to bounce. (Left unsaid was that I didn't spend the last two days in a dealership listening to you insult me to bounce a $15,000 check!!!) He reluctantly agreed and we signed our papers. We like the vehicle, but I wish I would have walked away and given my business to a deserving dealer. They didn't even thank us when we left. They made us feel like we were less than pond scum. I told him the price range I was looking for and he kept pushing a car that was $6000 over max! He wouldn't listen to me when I told him I wasn't going to buy the first car I looked at especially when it's way over my price range but he kept trying to push me into it. OMG what a terrible finance department. I bought a new 2013 Mazda 5 in April 2013. It was a nice vehicle, however, it did not serve my needs. In November I purchased a new pick-up and promptly started the process of trying to cancel the extended warranty, being the vehicle only had 15,695 miles on it. No matter how many messages I left on voice mails no one returned my call. Finally in mid December Clayton Calles (via email) assured me he would submit my request. Today I called Warranty Solutions and they never received the request. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more

The fact that I have to give this place a star is degrading. I spent the better part of my night form 7:00-balls 30 making a deal with these clowns. They agreed (verbally) after the test drive to fix a minor noise we heard on the rear right side of the vehicle. Other than that everything seemed in place. All the paperwork was done except they have you fill out one more sheet at the end that has you put down anything else they agreed to fix so that their is documentation. As soon as I said everything is good as long as you fix whatever the problem is that we heard on the test drive they acted like I was crazy, they said they would LOOK at it. I said no thats not what you said before the other paperwork was signed. Another hour passed and finally I talked to the finance manager and he said he could be out a lot of money if he agreed to my terms of fixing a non diagnosed sound. I explained that was the reason I agreed to the sale. He countered with I will fix up to 800 dollars and thats all I can can do. Mind you all the paperwork is signed I traded in a vehicle, the paperwork was done for that, everything was cleared out of that car, my wife went home, it was midnight and I had no way of getting home. That's when I lost my cool. There was the salesman, manager (that made the verbal commitment), and the finance manager in the room and they were all blaming each other for this predicament. The finance manager said he had no control over what his manager did the salesman was actually backing up my claim and it was a cluster. Finally seeing me about to get violent (non-litteral) The finance manager agreed to fix whatever was wrong with it. Two days go by and my wife and three kids are on the side of the road with the car with locked up brakes, a steering issue, and it can't be moved. My wife walked to the dealership (2 miles with kids) and had the car towed. The dealership gave her a rental and started to look at the car. (Speed up) five weeks go by and our car is still not fixed. At this point I called the salesman that sold us the car and told him even after it is fixed I will not be driving it as it is a deathtrap, I am going to a military lawyer, and I am going to get my money back. They said do what you need to with little remorse. I called the mechanic across from the dealership that was working on the car and he said it was a steering problem as well as a few other issues. It was ironic because during the sale they said they couldn't go down too much in price because they spent 4000.00 in repairs on the steering alone (literally showed me the paper numerous times pre-sale). I called the salesman back and told him that i spoke with a military lawyer and I could prove they didn't do the required 28 point inspection or the used car inspection and that i was going to get them blacklisted and my money back+damages. At that moment they started singing a different tune. I picked out a newer car, less miles, and they threw in all the bells and whistles. I gave them a price and they immediately took the offer...weird. Also the vehicle they said was not available on their website all of a sudden became available, even though the manager said it was undergoing UCI diagnostics...lie. I will never buy from a dealership again because of these criminals and I am truly sad at the lack of competence, communication, and moral fortitude that was shown at this establishment. I will keep it tactful and not negatively name names, except for Mike Higa, a young salesman that was thrown into the doodoo storm and did everything he could to ensure I left the second time feeling some semblance of resolve. Also Greg Bergantinos in the service department noticed a few minor faults in the second car and made sure everything was fixed, detailed, and in good order before he let me take it. Also Paul Borset in finance was great and personable and explained all the fine print. I apologize for having to group these fine individuals in with such managerial morons. These guys should be running the place because they care about people first not profit, maybe Mr.Cutter will read this and see that he has a huge problem on his hands, but I digress. Finally, if i would have not had the fortitude to stand up to these guys and made sure they agreed to fix the issues my family would have been out the original cost of the previous vehicle as well as thousands more in repair cost, and four of five weeks with no vehicle. I don't know how people can be so ruthless to their fellow man but this place is the poster child. Cutter Mazda is the friendliest dealership I have ever worked with, hands down. This is the fifth car I have bought in 20 years, the but my first Mazda. From sales to reception, parts to service, these people demonstrate what true aloha is. I special ordered a Mazda3 hatchback, and while I was waiting for it to arrive, they did everything they could to make me comfortable in a pre-owned Mazda. My salesperson even offered me her own car when she found out I had sold my car and my replacement hadn't arrived yet. These are truly gracious, kind, and even funny people to work with. I honestly can say that I've made new friends in the sales crew we worked with, they are wonderful people! Cutter Mazda is very thorough in making sure you are happy with your purchase, and that you get exactly what you want. Even as I sit in the lobby waiting for my safety check, another service person calls to pre-schedule the first car servicing. This is customer service and aloha spirit at its finest! read more

I have to strongly recommend Annie Liu for anyone who wants to check out a Mazda. She wasn't really in my face and when I told her I was there for a vacation, she didn't immediately walk away like other folks. That's good because that's eventually going to earn her a sale when I move out to Oahu. Extremely professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. She even offered to get me some ice water when she saw me sweating profusely. Amazing customer service! We had the pleasure to deal with Paul "Chico" Ramos and Brehon Quigley. They had the most patience ever! We were at the dealership for 2 hours one day and 5 hours the next and test drove 4 different cars, and these guys were so nice the whole time. We were there so long because we couldnt make a decision on what we wanted, but those guys didnt pressure us into anything and helped us pick out what would work best for us and our budget. The process of buying my car was a real pain. After finally sealing the deal they told me the wrong information by saying I could sign the papers for my car by myself even if I was under my dads insurance. THIS WAS TOTALLY WRONG!!! When we finally found this out, we had to redo the paperwork because the title of the car had to match what was on the insurance. On top of that we told them to prep the paperwork because my dad would be coming on his lunch break to sign the papers. They didn't even prep it at all!!! He was completely late for work after his break, because they started on the paperwork when he came. I love my car, but what it took to get it was a roller coaster ride! I went to the dealer today a bit before the scheduled time. The staff wasn't really that nice at first. I had to walk to see them to get more info. Then the manager, John, came out and greeted me. John was nice with his 10 seconds greeting is all I've got. I got a short test drive to the parking lot to see the other cars. Then they tricked me into signing the contract which I did not realized. My bad for signing without reading it thoroughly... The sales person, Mickey, told me that if things went wrong he will just tear the contract. But I came to find out after i left the dealer that there are 'hidden' fee if I change my mind. At least they could disclose that there will be 300 dollars fee. The only reason I am giving this place 1 star is for the effort of the two salesmen that helped me. Sebastian of Cutter Dodge and N.G. of Cutter Mazda. To start things off, I had my eye on a 2014 Mazda 6 and I have a trade- in that is worth the amount that I owe. After 5 long dreadful hours of negotiating on a price for the car, I was then sent to Cutter Mazda to finalize the deal. Which was upsetting because I had been working with Sebastian who was fighting hard to get me the price that I wanted, and was sent away to work with another sales guy because it was a certified pre owned Mazda. So not only did I spend 5 hrs conversing back and forth but was upset that the sale wasn't going to Sebastian (in which he asked would he be able to get the sale and was lied to, which I find very unfair). So I get to Cutter Mazda (which is down the street) and start talking with N.G. (who was nice and friendly) and Bryven (however you spell his name, who wasn't too friendly). With them trying to honor the previous set deal, they obviously didn't want to and after already having a pre-approved loan with Navy Fed, they wanted me to do a "back up loan" with their bank. I don't have much car buying experience but even to me that doesn't make any sense. I refused to do so. They said the only way I could get the car is if I have the check made directly out to the dealership, which also makes no sense. But considering I wanted the car so bad, I went to the bank the next day to do so. Of course after a day they raised the price, I refused to pay. N.g. began to negotiate and work with me and we were able to settle at 25,176.42 (odd number right). In which I gladly went to the bank to get the check wrote out. They then call me to tell me that there's someone looking at the car, and since its still on the market they might sell, and in order to prevent that to put some money down over the phone to hold it. Now to myself, this is a scheme, so I decide to go against it. I get to the bank, wait patiently to speak with someone and I get a call from the dealership saying they sold the car and that they were sorry. I've never been so infuriated but happy at the same time. They miraculously sold the car I wanted and set a deal from days of negotiating(which they had an identical one of, and could've sold that one) yet I'm happy not to deal with them. Screw this place, they're only for the dealership not the customer. read more

Took my Mazda Tribute 2011 in for service & I had the privilege of dealing with Mac. He was very helpful & the service on my car was exceptional. I like the fact that I can schedule an appt for my car & drop it off. If I choose to hang out at the place until my car is done, they have a waiting area with a tv & vending machines. They also offer shuttle service if you don't want to stay & wait; plus there's Ala Moana Shopping Center & Ward Warehouse right down the street. When taking my car in for service, I always deal with Mac; he shows great customer service. He always gives me a timeframe on when my car should be finished and if something comes up that will prolong service on my car, Mac will call me to let me know of any changes. I remember there were a few times where he had the service guys detail my Mazda Tribute 2011, inside & out, as a complimentary for going over the discussed timeframe. The service guys are normally pretty nice, but I got a bad one or got a guy on a bad day. I brought my 2008 Mazda 3 in for problems with squeaky brakes and the guy called back and said he didn't hear anything. I thought this was unbelievable since everyone in our neighborhood could hear when I'm braking. He was being hard to deal with and was making it sound like there was no problem. He said it would cost over $100 to do the diagnostics. Upon looking at it, they did find uneven wear on my brakes and resurfaced the pads. They didn't charge me for diagnostics, which was good, just the labor. The poor customer service I got that day aside, the real crappy part is that my bumper was all dented up when I went to pick up my car. Seriously? WTF! They said sorry and they will fix it, but I still have to deal with it. read more

My wife drops off her car the night before at Cutter Mazda for a scheduled recall on control arms. Was told it would be roughly an hour and a half job. So she leaves the car for the next morning. That night I get a confirmation call from them, that I will be bringing the car in the morning even though it is already there. The woman on the phone asks if I'd seen there new models and I replied not interested. The next morning I take my wife to work. She gets off work at 3pm and goes to get her car and it's not done. She was told by service rep that the part didn't come in till that morning. Funny though when my wife dropped off the car the person checking it in, checked to make sure the part was there before accepting the vehicle. To tell you the truth, since buying this car new, it has been one thing after another. As for buying another Mazda........probably not. read more

The personnel are typical car salesmen: initially pleasant to help build rapport, but quick to "turn you over" (TO) to another guy, whom they may refer to as their "floor manager," whenever they sense they're not getting anywhere in extracting a commitment from you to buy ........ TODAY! If you say you're "just looking," they ignore that and keep barging ahead, trying to "close." That's because they're taught to do exactly that. I had to laugh when a "rookie" quipped as he "TO-ed" me to his alleged "manager:" "NOW YOU'RE IN TROUBLE!" Me? In trouble? Not a chance! I just shot back: "NO, IT'S YOU WHO'S IN TROUBLE." I read a short bio on this "manager" - he had been selling for them for six months. Now, that's a meteoric rise up the organization ladder. They get the extra half-star for the comedy factor. No, I didn't buy a car from them, but I did buy one elsewhere a week or two later .............with cash! I was actually a "real" prospect, not some "stroker" wasting their time. I've been trying to get in touch with someone to discuss my drive sure benefit for my Mazda 3 hatch, along with my maintenance records since the beginning of August. Every time I try to get in touch with someone, I get a voicemail line and 90% of the time I don't get a call back. I was told that my warranties "umm they should be fine" if I go to another maintenance facility and that I could go to Cutter Dodge for an oil change, but that it's first come first serve for three hours on Saturday mornings. I had to take my car elsewhere to have it serviced for an oil change and am just needing to find out when I'm due to bring my car in again and if my warranty is still valid. If I could give a lower review, I would. The hours for the service department are unreasonable for people who work full time and their customer service skills are seriously lacking. read more

My wife & I have been thinking about getting a car for a few months. We knew it would be a Mazda from the beginning, but just wasn't sure on which model. Jason Kaneshiro and Matt Wong were very patient and showed us our options without pressuring us to buy on the spot. This shout out goes to Greg Bergantinos and the service team. The map light in my Mazda2 was loose and not working. Initially, I thought they were just going to inspect it, and that I'd have to make an appointment to come back on another day. This was not the case. He took care of me in just about an hour. My light was fixed and he even did a full service inspection at no cost! I am truly appreciative for Greg's top notch service. I only dealt with the service department on my visit today. I tried to deal with cutter dodge, but cutter Mazda was more friendly & more helpful. I called last week to get my oil changed & a safety inspection. After taking shortly with I think Brandy? She was super helpful. WAY more helpful than cutter dodge has ever been. Cutter dodge has been screwing us over since we bought our cars last year. Thank the LORD I don't have to deal with cutter cars again. But if I had to, I would pick cutter Mazda Honolulu over any cutter. read more
