I can't say enough wonderful things about the sales team at Cutter Mazda. After a truly awful experience at JN Mazda (I literally left in tears), I decided to talk to the guys at Cutter about trading in my 2011 Mazda3 sedan for something a little bigger. Gavin Yamane was my sales agent, and he was incredible! Not only did he answer all my questions about the 2013 Mazda3 hatchback I was eyeing, but he even took me to check the surf on my test drive, and showed me all the local spots for the best plate lunches. We are buddies now, and I am genuinely happy to see him whenever I go into the dealership! He went so far out of his way to make sure I was happy and comfortable with the process, and took really great care of me. Brehon is the Sales Manager, and was instrumental in helping me find pricing and financing that worked for my budget. Another person that I look forward to seeing, and who went above and beyond to help me get a great car that I love (and could afford). He helped me figure out the trade-in, and paved the way for all of my DMV transactions to turn in my old car. He was always accessible by email or phone, and stayed late on more than one occasion to help me out. He also made sure that the few little marks on the car from sitting in the lot were taken care of, and that I got to go home with a shiny new car. Financing - Mark Price is awesome. Diligent, meticulous, super honest and helpful. This was great for me as an inexperienced car buyer; he explained every detail and made sure I was comfortable with everything I was signing. The Service Team is also really great - Mac, Presley and Francis have all helped me at various times, and are easy to reach and very accommodating. They took great care of the old car AND are now taking care of the new one. The ONLY aspect of Cutter Mazda that I can't rave about is the lot team, or whatever they call the guys who move/store the cars on the lot and in service. The car I was trading in came back from service with a huge dent on the passenger side, and my headphones had been smashed in the door as well. Nobody from the service department said anything, but luckily Gavin and Brehon are awesome, honest guys who made sure I was aware of all damages to the car, and promptly took responsibility. Gavin could have let me drive the car away with a huge dent on the passenger side that I might not have noticed for days, and then claimed that it wasn't their fault, but instead he walked me around the car to inspect it and took care of everything once I pointed out the dent that had NOT been there before. Again, I think this just emphasizes the honesty and level of service at Cutter more than anything else. Accidents happen, but the team there took FULL responsibility and fixed everything. Buying a car is a process that I'm not very comfortable with. It's a lot of money, and a lot of decisions to be made, and I find it overwhelming and scary. But the guys at Cutter made it as painless as possible for me, and I feel like I now have a long-lasting relationship with the sales and service teams at this dealership. Big Mahalo to the team at Cutter Mazda Honolulu. I was looking to replace my very tired and old 2001 Mazda Tribute and was unsure where to begin my search. My Tribute was an awesome car that lasted 18 years, 12 with me. So the obvious first choice was Mazda. So on a weeknight after work I stopped by Cutter to have a look. I was met by salesperson Claire Prestonza. She was awesome. Very friendly and knowledgeable even though she is relatively new to the car business. What she might lack in experience she more than makes up for with her enthusiasm and honesty. Thanks Claire. We drove the CX-5 and I loved it but wasn't ready to purchase that evening. I was expecting the pressure to "buy today" like every other dealership. There was none of that. They did ask for the sale, as any good salesperson would, but understood I wasn't ready. I left Cutter Mazda pleasantly impressed by their friendliness and professionalism. After a few days of research and test drives I was set on purchasing a new CX-5. Cutter's website was instrumental in finding the perfect car. I compared every CX-5 they had on their lot. They even have a payment calculator that really helped to determine what I could afford. I found the perfect car. Right color, right options. I was set. On Friday I text Claire that I was coming to see stock number M19334 and if she could pull it out, give it a quick wash and have it ready for my inspection. Claire said no problem. The car was beautiful and everything I expected. Now it was time to make a deal. Again I was expecting the hassle of back and forth negotiations where the dealer is going to "stick it to you". It was painless. We did negotiate a bit on price, trade and payments, but in the end I got a great price and a super finance rate. And the dealership made a bit of money too. Win Win. The finance department was great too. F&I manager Kyllie Hiura was a true professional. She explained every step of my purchase and warranty coverage of my new car. I plan on keeping my new CX-5 for many many years and was able to purchase a very affordable extended warranty and service plan. The whole experience was top notch, true professions. They get it!! I cant begin to describe how fantastic my customer service rep was when I was shopping for my new (used) car. Brian Wong took the time to show me every available used car in my price range, and even crunched the numbers to be able to offer me a few just a little over my budget. We talked about all of the important things, like safety features, model options, engine specs, and mileage, as well as some life and family related questions to ensure I was making the best choice for my lifestyle, with optimum seating for my current needs plus cargo room for large or bulky items like surfboards (or most recently a giant baby swing). He asked questions about aspects of my needs that I hadn't even considered, which is saying something, bc I tend to be super thorough about researching big ticket purchases. This brought me to my dream used car, which not only fits me PERFECTLY (thanks to his intuition and assistance) but also is the absolute BEST deal I was offered at any other dealership. I had a great car-buying experience at Cutter Mazda Honolulu! It was time for me to replace my Mazda3 Hatchback. The car had served me well, driving from Kaneohe to Kaimuki for work every day. It's why I decided to go with Mazda again. My main criterion was that I needed a car with comparable trunk space. I started looking at the 2024 cars in October 2023. The salesperson, Derin, was patient and helpful and kept me informed throughout the process. Johnny, his manager, was great about checking in with me to see how everything was going. Christmas came early for me in mid-December! My Mazda CX-5 arrived! I am tremendously happy with the color and features included with the car. It all started from the First Hawaiian Bank auto show. Caleb Valero is very professional and knowledgeable when he gave a lot of useful information about the CX-5. He invited me to stop by at the dealership anytime when my wife is ready to test drive. We stopped by at the dealership and Dimitry Prokofyev was there to welcome us. Since Caleb wasn't at the dealership, Dimitry helped us and he was very friendly and knowledgeable sales professional. He let us look and test drive the CX-5. My wife is happy with the test drive and we worked the numbers. While we were completing the credit report, Peter Worth, Assistant Sales Manager came to speak with us. Peter is very professional and easy to work with. He worked with us to meet our needs and all of our special requests. We were looking for a compact SUV and found many positive reviews on the CX-3 and CX-5. I was told by a co-worker about Yosuke and Kyllie (other Yelp reviews also show positive feedback on these two). During our visit, Yosuke went out of his way to find the right vehicle that met all of our needs. His friendliness, knowledge, and patience was outstanding and made us very at ease with the overall process. When we finally found what we wanted, Kyllie made the financing happen and got us the vehicle at price we could afford. With both of their assistance and cooperation, we ended up getting two vehicles! Everyone here is such an a$$hole. This place truly does epitomize the "sleazy car salesman" stereotype. I came in with a friend last week to update a warranty he had on one of the SEVEN cars he's purchased during his lifetime at this location. You would think they'd treat him with a little bit of courteousness since he's given them so much business. Instead, we get a "What do you need?". Not in the, "Hi! Welcome! Is there anything we can do for you?" tone. More of the "I don't feel like helping customers today so whatever you need better be quick." Not to mention they didn't bother giving us any eye contact during the whole transaction. We dealt with a total of 5 different individuals and 4 were garbage (including the "Finance Manager". I put it in quotes because that title seems pretty generous and far-fetched for that guy), and the last guy was just neutral. Outrageous. read more

I originally started my search for a Mazda 6 in Scarlet Red on the internet. I spoke to a nice gal name Lily online. She was very helpful which drove me to visit the Honolulu Cutter Mazda Dealership. I drove to the lot to get my first visual look at the car and met a very personable salesman name Yosuke Abe. This was the first time I had ever met him. I had limited time, but promised Yosuke I would come back the next day. I did return and I have to say, after speaking with Yosuke, I was very impressed. He was very knowledgeable about the vehicle. And and even more so, he gave me the impression that he was very vested in my best interest. Long story short, I ended up buying the car that day. Tyler Hong surpassed all our expectations as a salesperson. Tyler was professional, attentive, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and very polite. The Honolulu dealership closed at 9 p.m., but Tyler and the dedicated Mazda staff stayed more than an hour past 9 p.m. to finish our car purchase. In addition to helping with our car insurance, Tyler patiently ran us through the features of our new car during that late night. I had recently purchased a new car from a Cutter dealership and had such a good experience that when my best friend needed to buy a new car (her transmission went out), I suggested we go to the Cutter Mazda near her house. Once we got there, we were greeted by a completely fun salesman who was hysterical (can't remember his name...John?) and we had a blast testing out new cars (she hadn't had a new car in 10 years). She finally fell in love with a sporty little Mazda and I knew she was going to go for it even though it was a little out of her price range. I recently purchased a mini van from Mr. Jason Kaneshiro. I have to say it was one of the best experiences of my life. He is very professional and to the point. It was my first time buying a car and he made me feel so comfortable and that is a great quality. During the test drive he told me all the key points and features of the van. Cutter stands behind their customers. Seven years ago I bought a Passat here (back when they also sold VW's). I went ahead and got the extended warranty because it had a money back guarantee: if you never use the warranty for a repair then they will refund the contract price when it expires. Seven years later... the insurance company who backed the guarantee is out of business. I took my paperwork back to Cutter Mazda and the finance manager said, "If they won't refund your money then we will. That's our policy." It took a few months but Cutter came through with a check for $2,000. I doubt that many other dealers would do the same thing under the circumstances. read more

I had terrific customer service from Vance in the Parts Department at Cutter Mazda in Honolulu. He quickly returned my voicemail; did not have to ask me to repeat any information, including long part numbers and a VIN; found the part I asked for and had it in stock even though its for a 2006 car; emailed me a pdf of the parts diagram with my requested part highlighted, to confirm it was what I wanted; arranged FEDEX shipping to Maui to get me the part ASAP; called me back with the total cost including FEDEX shipping; and was engaged, personable and professional. I broke the key thingamig for my Mazda and was in in panic. I had 25 5th graders waiting for me in 2 1/2 hours and I needed to get going. Max Galdiera, Service Consultant. was right there reassuring me that he was there to help, and he lived up to his word. I was very upset and he wad very patient. I could not have asked for better service. I was out of there in one hour and 25 minutes. In plenty of time to teach my class, and with a new whatever it is on my hand. I purchased a 2017 Mazda 3 at the end of last summer. Jason Kaneshiro was such a BIG help during that purchase. He really knew everything about the cars that were in the lot and answered all of my questions. He made me feel like I was important, not like some of the other dealerships that I visited.
