Had a really good experience here. We came here to enjoy happy hour and catch up on not seeing each other since before thanksgiving. Enjoyed a charcuterie and several excellent glass of wine suggested by our waiter at Happy Hour prices which go until 7pm. Great wine, great concept, but we were highly disappointed in the food and service was mediocre at best. To start, we ordered the Polenta Fries and Caramelized Mushroom Bites. The mushrooms were the most flavorful plate of the evening and I'm fairly certain that was only thanks to the goat cheese. The polenta provides a great crunch on an otherwise greasy, flavorless dish. It left a greasy film on our lips and an unbearable aftertaste. The Fried Calamari was average with a flavorless sauce. Next was the Crab Bruschetta. I knew something didn't taste right and my friend pinpointed it instantly... it tasted like tuna with some crab undertones. Amazingly, it was still somehow bland! Bland seafood... how is that even possible?!? The Banana and Nutella dessert was my last hope for this place. Unfortunately, I would have been happier with a freshly peeled banana and a spoon full on Nutella. This was a basic piece of banana bread (could be bought at any grocery store), brought out lukewarm with no garnish. And again, no strong flavor in the sauce. Finally, the service left a lot to be desired. For them to have only had two other tables in the whole building, we waited too long to be seated. We had to ask our waiter for our checks then he acted like we should have told him we were ready when we had been finished with our wine and had already complained about the Nutella dish and had been sitting with our wallet out for 10 minuets. The one thing I liked about this place is they took the dessert off my bill. But not without excuses from the waiter on why it wasn't his fault. read more

My friend and I had dinner and some wine. It's in a strip mall and didn't seem to fit in but we loved it. We've not been back. No particular reason why just not close to where we live and it doesn't always come to our mind. Our experience was great. Our small plate appetizers were delicious and our main course was good. The wine specials were awesome and we enjoyed trying some new ones. Learned about unoaked Chardonnay that evening. Loved it. Service was great. No complaints. Just wish they weren't on the other side of the city. I recommend at least trying the food and wine. read more

I had wanted to try cuvee for quite a while and finally got the chance. I find it to be really mediocre across the board. First of all, the wine. Given that this list is put together by our city's only master sommelier, I expected alot more. Nothing really wowed me. There is no guidance whatsoever for the taster. It's truly just a list of wines organized by color and locale. The food was good but not great. I read that cuvee is overseen by the team behind Bristol. That name, in Louisville, is synonymous with over hyped mediocrity. It explains alot about cuvee. There are far better options out there. read more

The owner was very accommodating with my special request and the service could not have been better, very friendly and knowledgeable. Great wine and cocktail selections for all palates. I was recently made aware of this restaurant at a food and wine festival and decided to give it a go last weekend for a sister/brother dinner date. The location is a bit random and is situated at the end of a shopping strip way out in Springhurst. But...look past that. I mean, parking was no problem at all so that's a plus! The wine list is a nice size. They have covered lots of bases and flavor preferences without overwhelming you with a crazy long array of choices. Offering wine tastes on the ones available by the glass is a nice touch, that way you can try several without committing to a glass. My brother and I shared a bottle of red wine and were happy with our selection. Our server helped narrow our choices based on our tastes which was nice since we were torn between 2 or 3 different bottles. We decided to order a handful of dishes, after asking our server about the portion sizes on most. We ordered 4 different dishes and were plenty full by the end. You have to try the Provoleta! It was so delicious! Eat it up fast though since once it starts cooling it congeals and gets hard to work with after that. Overall I enjoyed my visit and dinner here and look forward to trying a couple of other food items next time. read more

I had a great opportunity to sample some great food last night at Cuv'ee. The mushroom and cheese pizza was outstanding. The wine selection that Scott (owner) picked out meshed well with all the different apps. I also must compliment the service. There is something to be said about always having a full, fresh glass of ice water from start to finish...the little things make a big difference. Aside from that, the waitresses were there to take care of your every need and were extremely polite. I recommend you check out the ice cream as it is a true treat! Last night was our second time dining at Cuvée. The first time was soon after they opened and while our server was awesome and we enjoyed the wine happy hour specials, the food was hit or miss. We decided to try it again to see if things had evened out a bit. Again the service was great and the wine list is varied and fun. They give you a very generous amount in the pour. But once again the food was good but not great. It seemed that every dish was missing a little something that would take it to the next level. For instance, the calamari was not seasoned enough and not crispy enough but the dipping sauce was good. The flatbread had good flavor but the bread was a little doughy. My quinoa salad had all good ingredients but the dressing was missing enough acid so it came across as bland. The dishes that I did like were the yellowfin tuna, the smoked salmon platter and the banana bread and Nutella dessert. I probably won't come back simply because there are similar restaurants nearby who also have a wine emphasis and offer small plates that have better food like Louvino and Brix. read more

So I don't normally write reviews but I feel that what happened to me at this restaurant warrants a review. The food and most of the wait staff were good. I did, however, have in unpleasant encounter with one waitress towards the end of dinner. I got up to go to the bathroom and didn't see a waitress standing at the computer putting in an order and accidentally bumped into her. I apologized only to have her loudly accuse me of being drunk, which I wasn't. When I came back from the bathroom thinking it was over she came up to me and said, "I told my manager about you. If you drive home I'm going to make sure you get arrested." I didn't want to cause a scene any more than there had been so my friend and I left in her car. I definitely will NOT be going back. If this is the waitresses version of customer service she should be fired. read more

WOW - wonderful experience!! Louisville is so fortunate to have this restaurant, where the wine list is created and managed by a MASTER SOMMELIER - Scott Harper (who is also an owner) We were visiting from Charlotte and were there Friday night with a table for 6 and loved it so much we went back Saturday night with a table for 10!!! WINE: Amazing and unique list. Absolutely LOVE the 2 oz pours to taste a variety. The servers are very wine knowledgable and we tried a couple of wine flights and then a glass (6.25 oz is a generous pour. What a great opportunity to taste interesting wines from the world. FOOD: Between the two nights, we made it a goal to taste as many of the small plate offerings as possible and we did a great job! Everything was very good - a few favorites were the provoleta (who doesn't like melted cheese?!?), polenta fires (crisp outside and terrific aioli!), Yellowfin tuna - (seared perfectly), gnocchi, hanger steak, lamb chops and the special, which was a braised lamb over risotto dish. The flat bread pizzas are yummy as well - our favorite was the speck with the Kentucky lamb was a close second. Really great flavors that the wine complimented beautifully! SERVICE: Sidney was wonderful Friday night and Jessica was just as good on Saturday. The staff is polite, knowledgeable and very attentive. OVERALL: Great place for date night or out with another couple. It's a small restaurant with positive energy. We will definitely make it a MUST for our future visits to Louisville! read more

First off I thought the service was excellent and the wines were fantastic, however the food in my opinion was mediocre. The crab bruschetta was mayonnaise on a baguette and the garlic shrimp wasn't nothing special. I did think the KY Lamb sliders were very good though. Inviting, comfortable and sophisticated new tapas and wine bar. I joined a friend for drinks at 6pm and to my surprise the restaurant was not crowded, but I suspect that will soon change. We shared lamb sliders and a cheese plate which were both very tasty. We sat at the bar for happy hour and enjoyed great recommendations from bartender Stephen who was spot on with every glass of wine and even the cheese pairings. Notably, wine glasses came with a side car, winning! We may have just found a new regular girls night out venue. Loved the relaxed atmosphere and that Stephen let us linger without rushing us. As much as I'd heard about this new spot, I was very excited to try it out. The menu sounded delicious and it was fairly priced however the food was very lackluster. I went with a group of 4 girls and we all ordered 2 shareable small plates totaling 8 different things on the menu. Amongst all the things we tried, not one left a lasting impression. While I will give Cuvee props for the wine list, which I enjoyed very much, however, the service, ambiance and food fell completely flat. It ended up being an overall disappointment for me, and I won't be back. My husband and I tried the arugula/orange/fennel salad and found the flavors overpowering, especially the dressing poured across the top, and we like strong flavors. Next, we had the gnocchi with green beans, mushrooms and tomatoes in arugula pesto. This should have been called green beans and mushrooms in arugula pesto, because the gnocchi were few and far between. The dish surprisingly lacked flavor, and we had to ask the waiter for salt to get through it. This was followed by the caponata flat bread, which the server recommended. It was piled high with eggplant, making it hard to eat as a flatbread and overall kind of mushy. All you could taste was the very strong goat cheese and some basil. We did not enjoy it at all. Next, we had the special, a red fish over pea shoots. The fish was good, but bland, and we had to resort to the salt again, and the pea shoots were overpoweringly strong -- and there were LOTS of them -- like a full salad under the fish. We sat outside on their patio since the weather was perfect and inside the ambiance was poor. It was nice to eat outside, but let's face it, we were on a concrete slab at the end of a strip mall surrounded by parking lot. The potted shrubs around the patio helped, but couldn't hide the facts. The stark metal tables and chairs don't help either. They need more decor to soften the space (tablecloths, pillows, flowers, anything). Finally, we found the service lacking. The hostess was busy talking when we arrived and didn't notice us standing there for a few minutes. Our server was pleasant, but didn't know the menu very well, and wasn't around much. The runner who brought out my wine tastings didn't know which wine was which, which is pretty important when you're tasting wines! This restaurant exceeded my expectations. I am always looking for a place that is inviting, has an extensive list of wines and provides options for pairing wines with each course. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. The manager was quick to ensure my food came out of time and that I was satisfied with my experience. I even had the opportunity to meet the owner, who is a Master Sommelier and his wife. They talked to me about many of their wine offerings and I even signed up to be part of their wine club during my visit. This was a great find and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new place to try. I will most certainly be back. read more

My wife and I went to dinner at Cuvee with her brother and his wife after hearing great things about this restaurant. Once we arrived we ordered drinks to start which took 25 minutes to get, we ordered a beer, a wine, and 2 scotches, nothing fancy. After waiting another 20min our waitress finally came to the table and proceeded to take our order. Being that this is a tapas restaurant, I decided it would be best to order multiple plates for the table to share. As I started to list the items we wanted, our waitress stopped me and informed me that I could only order 6 plates because if I ordered any more the kitchen staff would be upset. We ordered a flatbread, fries, lamb sliders, shrimp, and provaleta. When our food came out it some of it was piping hot while other dishes were lukewarm and everyone agreed that we needed to go get more food somewhere else since nobody had enough to eat. As far as food quality goes, it was alright, nothing special, but the environment and service was beyond disappointing. read more
