I placed an order with them for $61.93, to be delivered today, Oct. 28, 2025, between 9am and 10am. I get a text message at 10:13am telling me the delivery person cannot access my building and that they have to get to work, but that they've delivered the order. I'm wondering how they can deliver the order without accessing the building. Come to find out that the delivery person left my order outside of my building on the ground. When I reached the lobby, there were no packages outside. They'd been stolen. I call Smart&Final and leave a message, because there's no live person to talk to. Then I began a 'Chat' session, which concluded with them telling me they're going to check with the delivery department and get back to me via email. What company in their right mind hires delivery people that leave packages outside of a building on the ground?! These are dishonest, unethical, and unscrupulous business practices. To make matters worse, Smart&Final is big enough to afford a live person to talk to if you encounter a problem. It's a rinky-dink business model at best. I asked if I could get a sandwich and they said they already closed, and I asked what time they closed and they said 3pm today even though their advertised hours are until 4pm. Fair enough, but I check my watch and it's only 3:50pm. I've worked in hospitality before and I hate when customers come in last minute, but I think 10 mins before close for a to go sandwich order isn't a big deal. Especially when your normal operating hours state 4pm. I guess they don't want business after all. I also want to add that I live at the apt building across the street and to keep a business alive you need the locals to frequent whenever there isn't a huge convention or during slow season. Before I even visited, the two people who helped me over the phone were so kind, especially Will, who was a wonderful resource of information. They have the option to talk with you over the phone or via text, and both ways proved very helpful. When I visited the pharmacy, I was pleased to see there was a parking lot (finding parking in Little Tokyo can be difficult sometimes). Will was there and was very friendly! I've come to this pharmacy because of them, despite the general disarray of this Vons. But tonight was a very different story. My dentist sent over a prescription to address significant oral pain, and I went in hoping to get it filled quickly. When I arrived, there was no one in line, but I was completely ignored for a long time. When I asked for help, I was told my prescription wasn't in their system. After insisting that it had been sent, the gentleman at the register (rude) checked again -- reluctantly -- and discovered that yes, it was there. Instead of apologizing, he told me I'd have to wait for 40 minutes because there were "a hundred prescriptions" ahead of mine. (There were three people behind me.) By this time, I was in real pain. When I asked to have my prescription transferred elsewhere, I was told they couldn't do that -- though any California pharmacy is legally required to transfer a prescription upon request. By this point I was in serious pain, didn't want to frustrate the few other customers waiting, and was in no shape to wander around the sketchy Vons for 40 minutes -- so I left, hoping that ibuprofen would get me through the night. It's such a shame -- this used to be a bright spot thanks to the daytime pharmacists; but tonight's experience was unprofessional, dismissive, and frankly heartless. The store itself feels increasingly unsafe; I've seen arguments and fights in the parking lot. Bottom line: I can't recommend this pharmacy anymore. Unless the management addresses these staffing and safety issues, stay away.
