So I walk into this CVS. Lady at the register says "Hi!" I say "Hi!" back. I walk straight to the makeup section looking for a clear coat nail polish. I am the only one in or around the Revlon section. The lady at the register calls for "customer service at the Revlon station". I then walk over to the Loreal section. Again...I am the only one around that section. Now....she calls for "customer service at the Loreal section". So she's acting like I am gonna steal or something. The funny part is no one ever came. I think what she should have been calling for workers to clean up those nasty/empty aisles. The store is a mess......a huge mess. Clean up the store. Next time call for clean up. Zero stars. This is the worst pharmacy I have ever dealt with. My husband is a type 1 diabetic which means he is insulin dependent. He needs insulin and the proper supplies to survive. There is always a problem when I pick up his prescriptions. The doctor orders a certain prescription, and when I pick it up, it isn't what the doctor ordered. Some of the staff is extremely friendly, but others are very rude and apathetic. If you call, expect to be on hold for a very, very, very long time. Mistakes happen, of course! But how is it that there are so many mistakes and so many issues? Switching over to San Mateo Neighborhood Pharmacy and they deliver. The customer service there is already top notch. read more

This CVS feels super old and outdated. They could use a facelift and replace signage and the carpet. The merchandise selection here is okay. I have seen a few instances where going next door to Safeway was a bit cheaper. A lot of the items are a better deal if they're on sale. read more

This CVS always seems to be under some sort of renovation it seems.. odd. I usually come in here in an emergency, it's close to my gym and on the way home. This CVS is big, I'm not sure if it's actually bigger than other stores but it seems like it. All of their alcohol is locked up now, maybe they have an issue with theft? I avoid this place at all costs if i can. I came here for 1 hair product that was locked up because safeway was out of it and it took me nearly 20 minutes to get. The cashier told me to hit the assistance button, I go back and there is no button. i find a different button for something else on a different aisle and wait there for 10 minutes, no one came. I proceed to walk around the store looking for an employee and found a little older lady who gives me attitude and also told me to press the button. I said "i did and waited for 10 minutes no one came?" and she gave me a huff and looked up at the ceiling like i was bothering her and started walking towards the hair products, then asked me 3 different times "this one? this one?" i was like "yes? that one." I was on FaceTime with my son a young African American man when he walked into Sequioa station cvs to get somethings he needed when an employee walked up behind him and told him to leave he looks like he doesn't belong in the store. I then called the store to discuss this with a manager, as soon as the manager got on the phone with me she clearly had a bad attitude and told me her employee told my son he looked like someone that had been kicked out before, which is not what she told my son. When I tried to tell the manager that's not what took place she hung up in my face. This is by far the WORST pharmacy I have even been to. The pharmacy staff are rude and dont know the first thing about customer service. I requested a refill on my script Monday morning and set it to be ready the same day by 2pm. Having a busy week I didnt actually make it to the store until Thursday and was told i would have to wait 15-20 minutes while they filled it!? I told the lady i requested the refill on Monday and its 4 days late. The red short haired lady rudely turned to me and shouted "I don't know what to tell you, we have been backed up." For starters she had no reason to yell at me as i was standing right on the other side of the counter and If i was a diabetic who needed their insulin script filled would that be their same sorry excuse? The least they could of done was contact me on Monday to inform me they needed additional time to fill but I guess thats too much to ask for these days. I had always thought all CVS stores were the same, but this one is so bad that it's bizarre. I have come across items that were marked up about 40% from the suggested retail, and often times there will be only one of each item on the shelf, or none at all. It looks like the store is stocked with whatever the manager wanted to get rid of from his house. All the staff seem bitter, (except perhaps for two young women who were at the registers and seemed friendly enough). I have seen the manager a few times and think he might be the one setting the bad tone. Once he and another clerk were helping a customer, and though the manager was short with the customer, the other clerk said, "Have a nice day." But then the manager snapped at the clerk and said, "Don't say that." I'm telling you - the place is bizarre. read more

I returned a malfunctioning CVS thermometer today that I purchased last week. While I did not have the receipt, I had a picture of the price and a credit card statement with an amount equal to the posted price plus tax. The manager, Jim, explained to me that the corporate policy is to refund the lowest price the item has been over the last six weeks when a receipt is not present. He refused to refund the difference of about $3. He emphasized he was following corporate policy and did not care about my credit card statement. I get fraud prevention, but scanning my driver's license and giving me store credit instead of cash is already pretty sufficient to offset fraud. No reason to be so hard-lined over so little. read more

Hello, I go there for my medication regularly. Some of regular issues include little staff and poor customer service. As a physically disabled community member and customer, I was treated horrifically. In my last encounter, the pharmacy tech asked me, "Do you really need this?" when the medication was not available. Although the app says, consult with the pharmacy for help identifying local pharmacies that carry the medication, the tech would not check her database for near by locations. Instead, she sent me about 20 miles south, opposite direction to my home in San Francisco. Avoid this pharmacy. A complaint was lodged at the cooperative office @ 800-746-7287. Avoid and find a Walgreens instead. Happy 2023. read more

Seems almost overkill to add the bad experience I had a few hours ago to this long list. Still, I feel there is something important to note about it. We are having a family get together were driving by CVS, so we decided it would be good to bring some drinks. My son-in-law also remembered he needed watch batteries (for a car remote). We stopped in at CVS and found both. As the cashier was ringing us up, I mentioned the total was more than I expected. The receipt had a different price that what was posted on the aisle. She ignored my comment. And started the next customer. I told her I needed help with that discrepancy. She turned and abruptly said "you have to wait." Seemed harsh. After the next customer she called for a price check without a pause or looking at us. Which demonstrated she had heard my first comment and chose not to acknowledge it. When a manager came and we described the price difference he explained the advertised price was only if we purchased two. He said "it's fine print" and started to walk away. My son-in-law said if that were the case we would like to purchase two and get the advertised price. He asked the manager to assist us. The manager agreed and went to get the second box. Came back with it and told us we would have to wait a bit longer, then went away again. A bit later he came back and told us we would need to return the first box. We agreed and asked him to reverse the entire purchase (two items, batteries and the drinks). He asked "and what is wrong with the batteries?" We told him nothing, just trying to keep it clean. He accommodated us. We then asked to apply a $2 coupon. He said we could not because the drinks were liquor. We explained the batteries were not. He paused, then asked if we had just gotten the coupon with our previous purchase. We said we had. He responded he would need to "confiscate" the coupon because we had returned the product. He said the coupon could not be applied. We asked him if we purchased the drinks wouldn't we get that same coupon again? He said we would. His choice of the word "confiscate" seemed odd and the silence that followed seemed uncomfortable. It occurred to us we would have then been able to apply the coupon to a purchase of the batteries. We decided not to make either purchase and required a full refund. Costco has the drinks at a better price, Amazon has the batteries at a quarter the cost. I need to buy from both soon enough. I cannot say either the clerk or the manager crossed the line of being rude. But retail has changed. There are better options for impersonal commerce. We stop by places like CVS for convenience and because the people there are part of our community. Both the clerk and manager had multiple opportunities to make that experience end well. It did not. That experience was not convenient, I did not feel any sense of community, and next time I drive by CVS I will be less likely to stop. read more

What a great day today. I come in at noon to fill a prescription for my cat--totally normal. Pharmacist assistant has no idea what I'm trying to fill, and says she'll need to call the vet to confirm and that they can call me back when they've done so. Not a problem. Four hours pass. No phone call. Getting close to the end of the work day. I call back and, of course, they've lost the prescription, have no idea who i am, have no idea what I'm calling about, and have no record of anything--even though I gave them the physical prescription plus plenty of other information so they could put me in their database. The best I can do, they say, is to call my vet because they have no idea what's going on. Of course, I call the vet, and the vet says they talked to CVS and will go ahead and assign out a different prescription that I can just pick up from them. So, just to keep it straight, the pharmacy took all my information, then has no idea who I am, even though they called my vet to figure out what to do. Brilliant work, guys. read more

I called to see why I couldn't get my prescription refill. Their automated system said that the doctor had been contacted, but he refused to refill it. Thing is, I was with my doctor in the exam room and watched him refill the scrip electronically. After a tense phone call, I moved on to a more reliable pharmacy. read more

I was very disappointed and would have walked out but my Mom didn't want to go to Safeway instead. Not only were their prices high, they closed the register down and called someone to the next register. We waited and waited for her to come take over the next register. Turned out she was stocking only a couple feet away and totally ignored the call for register assistance!! The second call got her there. Ridiculous, and both register attendants kept chatting personally to each other while checking us out. Very unprofessional. The first register forgot to scan her previous customer's coupons. Really? The lines are always long and move slowly. They have heavy turnover and it's a new person behind the counter every time and by the time they learn the job they leave. Check your medicines to make sure they gave you the right ones. I've had generics replaced for my brand name but charged for brand name prescriptions. I used to like that they proactively tried to get renewals signed off but they don't do that anymore. Probably because they are short staffed. The store is generally not clean. You can find dirt every where. They actually have a sick, sniffing, coughing employee dispensing medicines the past couple of weeks. read more

If I had to guess, I'd say that both this location and the one in San Carlos on El Camino were overdue to be gutted and fully remodeled but this one is a tad better because it doesn't quite need be bulldozed like SC's. So if you have to choose... They're understaffed, sure, but overall it was fine. They don't have a lot of stock but if you really just need one or two things, you'll prob be fine. If you need to pharmacy- good luck. The line for that was pretty outrageous. Maybe try Walgreens or Target Pharmacy? There's a large parking lot in this strip mall but it can get a bit traffic-y, especially being do close to the CalTrain stop. I wouldn't count on this location to have what I need in stock in a pinch but if it's convenient to you and you're already in the area (waiting for CalTrain, perhaps), stop in and see if they've got what you need. read more

You've been there; I know you have. You're getting a couple of products at the drug store, and one of them is kind of embarrassing. Maybe this product telegraphs a temporary "issue" you're having, or it hints at some other aspect of your personal life you'd just as soon not broadcast; Maybe it's for you, or maybe it's for your SO and he/she asked you to get it for them; Because, hey, you're that kind of person. Last time I was at this CVS I was in just such a situation; I had 5 small items, one of them in the moderately embarrassing category. I sauntered up to cashier with items in hand, and a small line started forming behind me. I kept it cool and on the down-low. That is, until the cashier got involved. Cashier: (finishes scanning items) "You want everything in a bag?" Me: (disliking plastic bags) "No thanks." Cashier: (Raising her voice) "Are You SURE you don't want this in a BAG??" (People start to take notice; Suddenly I feel self-conscious) Me: "No...No Thank You" Cashier: (voice still raised) "OK, If You Don't Want it in a Bag, That's up to You!" (makes a "whatever" face) I finished paying; I grabbed my items, and walked out. Thanks CVS; You rock. read more

We left my aunt's doctors office after she got her stitches out (after having knee replacement surgery) looking for the nearest drug store to fill her prescription for pain pills as she was in a great deal of pain, and this CVS was it. We left her in the car (she's not exactly mobile yet and won't be for weeks) and went inside with the prescription, her insurance cards, her driver's license, and all the other necessary documentation to pick up a controlled substance for someone else. The pharmacist told my mom it would take about 15 minutes to fill the prescription. We wandered around the area nearest the pharmacy and kept an ear out for our name to be called. We heard quite a number of names called, looking up hopefully at each one. We wandered back to the pharmacist's counter several times, and ended up sitting in the seating area, waiting and growing less and less patient. I must admit we walked up to the counter several times as we heard each and every name get called and saw them get in line to pick up their prescriptions, but the pharmacist's assistant, Nefris, who was working te counter didn't make eye contact with us once. We even got involved in an animated conversation with several of the people in line picking up prescriptions that the pharmacist assistant heard. Everyone was commiserating with us about the fact it had been over half an hour since we'd dropped the prescription off and my aunt was waiting out in the car in pain. One gentleman told us that this was the worst pharmacy in the area for getting prescriptions filled quickly (one wonders why he continued to use them). (Mom didn't ask me to Yelp it before she decided to get the prescription here - big mistake) My mom and I aren't usually the confrontational types, but everyone reaches the end of their rope sooner or later. We finally got in line (there were 3 people in front of us by this time) and decided to have a word with the pharmacist ourselves to see what the problem was. We continued to hear people's names called over the loudspeaker to pick up prescriptions and saw them get in line behind us. At this point, my aunt made her way to the back of the store using her walker and in great pain stating that she just wanted us to take hwe home and she'd get the prescription filled somewhere else. How she got out of my mom's van I'll never know (she couldn't get the door closed on her own - it was still open when we got out to the parking lot) but she headed slowly and painfully back and we told her we'd get the prescription paper back at the very least. When we got to the front (about 50 minutes after we submitted the prescription) Nefris, the girl behind the counter, looked at us blankly when we told her our name hadn't been called and asked what the status was on filling it as we would take it somewhere else to get filled if it was not ready. She just stood there and stared. No smile. No "How can I help you?" No "Let me see if it's ready." No verbal response at all. Just a blank stare. Finally she turned around to look and discovered our prescription had been sitting in a bin ready at the counter the whole time. All she had to do was apologize and say they must have forgotten to call us or that she hadn't noticed the prescription was ready and we'd have dealt with it and left. Nothing. In fact, when she did start to hand us the prescription she began to give us a hard time about the fact we were picking it up for someone else and we had to go through all the paperwork all over again because it was a controlled substance. She then suddenly claimed that they had called us - several times, in fact. This was an outright lie, and was the point where I went from annoyed to downright angry. We'd heard everyone else called very loud and clear over the PA system, and were never out of sight of the pharmacy counter. There's no way on Earth we could have missed our name once, much less numerous times. When we got our prescription I leaned forward to check the name on her badge and she said in a belligerent one "What are you doing?" When I told her I was checking to see what her name was, she made it clear that nothing was going to happen to her. I'm guessing this wasn't her first rodeo with customer complaints and she felt very confident that there would be no repercussions. It was not my intent to try to get her in trouble, just to have detailed information to put in my Yelp review. CVS - Shame on you for hiring people with little or no people skills and not training them to at least be polite to the customers, if not truthful at the very least. You'd be surprised how far an apology can go to soothe a customer's ruffled feathers, unless it's your corporate policy that the customer is always wrong. I don't often write 2 star reviews. The rest of the CVS would have been a 4 star review, it was clean and well stocked but the pharmacy was worth less that 1 st read more

When CVS took over this Longs Drug location one of the first things that struck me was how the makeover CVS did actually made the store look dingier and older. Longs had clean white walls and tiles, whereas CVS went with pale yellow paint and dark, depressing carpet. It's also very apparent that CVS, like a lot of big chains, has a policy of understaffing their stores, so service tends to suffer. CVS's takeover of Longs was also preceded by a gradual phasing out of a lot of great items and brands; in my case a bunch of great fragrance-free skincare items that I used to depend on disappeared over the course of a few years before CVS came in. The one improvement this CVS had over Longs was that it was always open, which was a boon for me when I was sick late at night or had some other emergency. HOWEVER, this CVS is unfortunately no longer a 24-hour branch. Essentially, the one feature that made CVS an improvement over Longs is no longer. The new store hours are 7AM to midnight, daily. Pharmacy hours are: 8 AM - 9 PM Mon. - Fri. 9 AM - 6 PM Sat. 10 AM - 6 PM Sun. read more

Pharmacy Review: Every time in each of the last 5 times we have had a prescription filled here we have had problems. We call and verify the prescription has been FILLED. They say it hasn't. They say it will be filled, and we can pick it up in an hour. We get there a day later. Prescription not filled. Will be ready in an hour. Ask for it to be filled. Leave (as we don't have an hour to waste), call a couple days later, ask if the prescription has been filled... No it hasn't, but we will fill it in the next hour. Repeat ad infinitum... i needed to buy a greeting card in a pinch, and this was the only place at sequoia station that has a dedicated section of the store specifically for greeting cards. i had dropped by B&N beforehand, but didn't see any, and safeway's selection is a bit slim. after going through two of their greeting card aisles, with oodles and oodles of choices, which i appreciated, i found the perfect card for the intended recipient, and got in line for the cashier. considering it was 5pm on a weekday, i wasn't surprised that there were quite a few customers in line. however, i was surprised that only 2 registers were open at this time. unfortunately, the customer in front of me was taking a really really long time with her transaction, and apparently there was a problem with her debit card, which required a reversal of transaction and subsequent payment in cash. so i waited...and waited...and waited...and OMG, this was really ridiculous how long i had to wait for a single customer (and for that cashier to fix her transaction)! i looked behind me, and what was empty space when i first joined the queue had grown to several customers, all of whom were also waiting impatiently to make their purchases and leave. and then, another employee came over to me and asked me to join her line, since she was about to open her station. HALLELUJAH! in about 30 seconds, she had scanned my single purchase, allowed me to swipe my credit card, and handed me the receipt. VOILA! that's the way it should be, especially at a busy hour of the day. since i leave nearby, and regularly commute via caltrain, i expect to be here more frequently, and my hope is that they'll properly staff the registers at the busiest times of the day. read more

On Monday 5/22/23 at 8:30 pm I came to shop here to get some items and I wanted some soap but it was locked away. I pushed the button for assistance and no one came to me after waiting about 10 minutes. I asked a cashier named Andrew if he could please help me and he yelled "Can you wait?!" and then a lady came to me and give Andrew my item. Overall I had a very distasteful experience with Andrew, he was extremely rude, I should've left as soon as he yelled at me but I needed to get my local groceries. I go to Andrew (he is the only cashier in the store) and I have my items on the counter ready to pay. Then I asked him to please remove the toilet paper and fabric softener. I wanted to remove these 2 items because I realized that the coupon I had wouldn't qualify for those items. I told Andrew, please only leave the soap and theraflu medicine. Instead, andrew picked up my theraflu medicine and he aggressively tossed it on the ground. I again told him that I wanted the theraflu medicine, I never asked him to remove that item. The fact that he threw it on ground was very unprofessional and made my day very unpleasant. He then picked up the medicine grunting and rescanned it. After that he tossed the toilet paper and the other item I didn't want. The soap was 14.99 and the medicine was 11.29. Total of 26.28 plus tax should be about 28-29$. This man wanted to charge me approximately $35 dollars.... So, after being rudely treated like I have never been treated by a cashier in my life at this particular CVS location, and seeing that I was being charged more than I should I left the store without my items. Simply the workers were very mean. I am never coming back to this store I really hope someone can teach these people to be ethical and considerate. I had to drive to another CVS to get the things I needed just to avoid bad service. Please someone do something about these current workers. Severe case of frustration after spending about 40 minutes trying to get someone to either find my prescription (faxed to them 2 hours earlier) or explain the issue to me and find a solution. Since the employee at the window didn't see it in the system, she told me that she has to take care other patients and stopped paying attention to me. She was so preoccupied with other tasks, that I couldn't get any answer besides she has other prescriptions to take care of. Losing hope to get any attention from her, I asked to talk to the manager. He came out and started to shame me for my behavior! He even "threatened" to let my doctors know! Then he went back and suddenly found my prescription and filled it very quikcly, I guess to get rid of the "difficult" customer. Wouldn't recommend this place for anyone with knee problems or heart problems :-) read more

My experiences with CVS pharmacy have been very positive, including one of those above and beyond situations. Last month when I called in my prescription, it was denied by my insurance for being over filled. The pharmacist said she would take care of it and call me back. She called my insurance and found that an old pharmacy had autofilled the prescription even though I had cancelled it with them. She had them reshelve the product, note it in their system, called back my insurance and took care of this within twenty minutes. When she called me back she had my prescription ready! Very awesome indeed, considering sorting out my insurance and old pharmacy woes were not her problem. Minus one star, because as other posters said, the pharmacy department is always a bit understaffed, but that's the state of the economy, so be nice kids! read more

Words cannot express how much I hate this place and long for Long's. CVS doesn't stock any of the products that I used regularly that were available at Long's and always display their own brand before I can (maybe) find the one that I came in the store to buy. Smarmy. Way too much junk food, cramped aisles, limited service, and overpriced. Why the hell do you have that huge makeup department on the left? It's always empty, and I've never heard of half of the overpriced brands stocked there. I shudder at the thought of having my prescriptions filled at CVS after noting the comments here on Yelp. Thank you! I now go to Walgreen's or Rite-Aid for mine. The women checkers are always friendly and pleasant but the male checkers seem deadpan and capable of only speaking in monosyllables and nods. Why oh why did you take away the Auric Blends perfume oils, Nature's Gate Chamomile shampoo, Village Naturals Bubble Bath, Ester-C vitamins, and so many of the other products I loved at Long's???? Now I have to go to Safeway, Whole Foods, Walgreen's, K-Mart, or Rite-Aid to get them. If I could give this store five raspberries and a smack upside the haid, I would. Terrible. read more

I shop at CVS at least once a week. After my experience with the pharmacy clerk and the store manager I'll never shop there again. On Thursday I got a call saying my prescription was ready for pick up. I assumed it was the pain pills prescribed by the orthopedic surgeon. The clerk handed me a stapled bag, I paid, but when I got home realized this was an old prescription that I no longer need. When I called the pharmacy to complain, I was told nothing can be done about a refund. I called the manager and was told he'd talk to the pharmacist so patients were told the name of the drug at the time of pick up, but now I was pretty much out of luck. Fortunately, ten dollars don't make a dent in my budget, but what about other seniors who live on social security? read more

Yesterday I was feeling tough. When my doctor asked me if I needed pain medication I said, "No, I can handle it." She warned me that I might change my mind but I held firm. One night of complete agony was enough to make me briefly reconsider, but I didn't give in. A morning of complete humiliation as I needed to be helped out of bed, out of my clothes, into and out of the shower, and dressed was enough to make me strongly reconsider. Still I held firm. Then when I got into my car and threw up all over myself from the pain, my mind was made. I called her office crying this afternoon, and she called the script right in. I arrived at Longs and almost cried when I saw the line. I anticipated at least a 10 minute wait, but there were two pharmacy techs behind the registers, and things moved pretty quickly. When it was my turn in line, the tech found my prescriptions right away (the medications are well organized by last name). The tech gave me the option to ask the pharmacist any questions I might have, and gave me a printout of the side effects of the medications. I paid and was out of the store within 5 minutes. As soon as I got home, I took a wonderful pain pill, and promptly passed out on the couch. Thank you Longs for not only having my prescription ready right away, but also for defunking me and my car by carrying mouthwash, air fresheners, gum, and Febreze too. read more

I was just there to purchase a new set of clippers for cutting hair at home. I was also going to purchase numerous other items - potentially a large sale. I asked for someone to unlock the cabinet, and waited patiently. I saw an employee then go into the aisle directly across from where I was standing to unlock the liquor cabinet for another customer, so I continued to wait patiently. He looked at me, then walked away. So, I again asked the cash register employee for assistance. None came. My husband went and asked. We waited. We left. Atrocious customer service...but then how can it be atrocious when no one actually shows up. I guess just no customer service at all. I will spend my money elsewhere from now on, and since it's a big business I doubt that this review will have any impact on how they do (or in this case don't do) business. read more
