Oof, I really wanted to love Cycle Dogs. One peek at their menu and reviews really had me thinking we needed to make a trip out here just to try their food. While the food was okay, the overall experience felt soured by the slow service and confusing ordering system. Let's start with their food, which was pretty good but wasn't as smashing as I've seen reviewers rave about on their pages. The Fried Chick'n Sandwich at Brunch ($14) with Chipotle Mayo was a great throwback to those former Nashville Burgers, but it lacked a lot of spread and tomato. The Chick'n N' Waffle ($15) was the same chick'n but on a standard waffle. Their Homerun ($19) with sausage and pancakes had a salty tofu scramble with a funky taste. However, I will say their pancakes were dense and delicious, and was the standout of that dish. Service was... a bit rough. We came on a Saturday brunch and were placed on a makeshift waitlist as they were very busy. Typical for a weekend brunch, but it didn't seem they were prepared for the rush. After waiting 15 minutes, we were seated by the bartender who thanked us for our patience. No big deal as we expected there'd be a wait. However, where it went wrong was that we were literally sitting there for almost 15 minutes. Nobody came to serve us, check-in on us, or anything. The 2-3 staff would pass us by while we saw food slowly being delivered to other tables. We were just confused by why nobody was serving us. Finally, we asked our neighboring table how this worked, and they told us that we were supposed to have ordered at the front and be given a table number. Nobody on staff explained this to us and we thought we were supposed to be waited on, but this was not the case. When I finally went up to order and explained the situation, the server was apologetic but there really should have been a better system in place, or to explain to guests how to order before leaving them at their tables. We paid it forward by telling the next guests seated next to us the process to order, and they thanked us because they had also been sitting there for five minutes wondering what was going on. So Cycle Dogs, I hope you're able to improve on your weekend brunch model. You all are great and I want you to be successful, but this past experience was not good and I hope this review helps provide a better scenario for future patrons. read more

Vegan food has come a long way, especially vegan cheese, and that really makes the burger. Highly recommend both the tartar and hangry sauces. Dislike for me was having to order from our phones while inside at a table. And limited drink choices. I would have killed for an unsweetened iced tea but only a sweet one was on menu. We went to the cycle dogs cart (behind bickerson's brewing but also accessible by walking through the brewery). Everything was very tasty. I tried the McDammit burger which had the perfect ratio of toppings. They were also giving out free ice cream sundaes for pride month. I love Cycle Dogs! Stay tuned to their Instagram for specials during the week and for brunch on weekends. All the food is vegan and delicious, and they recently expanded their cocktail/mocktail/drink options. Everyone who works there is super kind and accommodating. The drink menu is physically on the table, you scan a QR code to pull up the food menu, but you order from a server at your table you came to check in on us and refill water and coffee. They have outdoor seating for when the weather is nice and you can also do to go! Both breakfast burritos are delicious, love the French Tourist. I've yet to try the pancakes or chicken & waffles but it's on my list! And for dinner I love any type of loaded fries they have, and the elote dog is always a winner. This is the place for vegan junk breakfast and brunch items, so don't come here if you're looking for a healthy meal. I got the Rise & Shine burrito ($14 plus tax) and added a side of collard greens ($4 plus tax), and a coffee (bottomless). The food took a little while to come out -- maybe 20 minutes -- but I had plenty of coffee to warm the stomach. -The burrito itself was decent, albeit simple, coming with nicely seasoned vegan sausage, firm tofu and tofu scramble, roasted potatoes, and vegan cheese, served with a mild salsa on the side and some tortillas. 3.5/5 -The collard greens were not great: very sour and bitter. I struggled these down to be honest. This dish needs to be re-thought out. 2/5 Service was very friendly and reasonably attentive despite them seeming short-staffed. Finally made it to the brick and motor iteration after loving the food truck at Peddler (rip). It's a really cute spot with seating inside and out. I treated myself to a solo brunch and was not disappointed. Got one of the breakfast burritos and loved the pepita salsa with the house made chips. Also had a mimosa and beer. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and still wearing masks which is kind. I took half my burrito home for later as the portion was a decent size. I really appreciate the mix of NA mocktail options along with creative cocktails and would love to come back for a happy hour. One time my friend and I ordered a large fry as well and it was a massive amount of fries, like waaaaay more than either of us expected. The seating is outside under a tent that's part of the brewery next door. They have heat lamps that keep it warmif you're under one, and they allow dogs (real ones, in addition to hotdogs), which is convenient. I got the simple dog and modified it to spice it up (added sauerkraut, mustard, mayo, relish). One friend got the elote dog and the other got the spicy Chik'n sandwich - they both liked 'em. We also got a large order of the hangry style fries to share - I would pass on them next time, way too much onion for my taste (to each their own!). THE FOOD MAKES ME UPSET that they aren't open more throughout the week (their only drawback is not being open weekdays for lunch). The food itself is so tasty. The elote dog is my favorite. It's filling, delicious, and perfectly spiced. The crinkle cut fries that come as a side are always hot, crisp, and salty. Plus, they have brunchy options for weekends. WHO WOULD EAT HERE? I'm a pescetarian. My husband is a carnivore. Still, we both enjoy the vegan fare at Cycle Dogs. There always seems to be a line outside and people taking advantage of the outdoor-only seating, so word has clearly gotten out this is good eats. This was my first time having vegan hotdogs and I'm impressed with how it taste. We ordered elote dog, curry wurst, what a vegan burger, hangry style fries, and mac & cheese. The curry wurst was probably my least favorite as it was vegan dog with German curry ketchup and no other topping. The ketchup was too tangy and can't taste the curry at all. The elote dog was completely covered with corn which adds texture to the dish. I wish the corn was a bit sweeter but the cayenne pepper definitely adds a kick to the dish. My favorites were the what a vegan burger and hangry style fries. If you didn't tell me it's vegan, I wouldn't be able to tell at all. The grilled onions tasted amazing on top of crispy fries. I first tried Cycle Dogs out of curiosity, but I keep coming back because they're really good. I think they've improved over time - no easy feat when the bar was pretty high to begin with. I'm not vegan, but I still absolutely love everything that's been served to me at Cycle Dogs. I've been following them since their days in a food truck behind Peddler Brewery, and my go-to order is their elote dog. It is beautifully buttered and seasoned - with just the right amount of mayo cream and spicy heat. I love that the whole thing is best eaten with a spoon because of how much corn there is. All the cocktails and mocktails I've tried here have been delicious, and really proved to me that the brick-and-mortar storefront is an upgrade from their food truck. The service when I've dined in has been a little bit slow, but the staff are SO friendly and are always so attentive that I rarely notice. I've never had any problem with timing when I've ordered ahead for pick-up or delivery. Next time, I'll just be prepared to stay a while to enjoy the Ballard ambiance. read more

All vegan, all delicious!!! Wow! They started from a little bicycle cart and now to a full on food truck, way to go! BOOM! Cycle Dogs was at Peddler Brewing and I was so glad they were! I think they may be there more on a permanent basis but I think they truck on over to other breweries too. Glad we had a few rounds of beers at Peddler to work up an appetite to try their dogs. They have an interesting menu, it was tough for me to decide. I luhhh me some breakfast, especially hash browns...I ended up getting the "Breakfast" dog. It's a vegan wiener, with a hash brown(it's kind of like a McDonald's hash brown) cut in half, grilled onions, vegan chorizo, and their chipotle mayo drizzled on top. It was pretty darn good! I couldn't tell it was "vegan" as it was super flavorful, bar food fare you looking for when drinking beers. It's pretty huge in size so be prepared to be hungry. My buddy got a similar version of my breakfast dog but got the "Trashcan", it's more colossal, more stuff on it. Same vegan wiener, vegan chorizo, grilled onions but with 2 hash browns, corn, vegan cream cheese and the same chipotle mayo drizzle. It was enormous, my buddy didn't back down and totally ate it up. A few others in my group tried some of their specials, they have vegan burger specials and those looked real good too. I believe you can choose what kind of meat you want such as a veggie pattie or field roast. They enjoyed those specials very much, super hearty and enormous as well. Looks like a Big Mac! Their crinkle cut fries are super crisp and delicious, so don't forget to get those too! Staff was super friendly, they give you a little buzzer to let you know when your order is ready. Prices for dogs can run from $7 all the way to about $13, same with their burgers and burger specials. Definitely worth checking them out in my book! It looks like they cut Beyond Burgers/Field Roast burger in half so they can claim double patties.
