We went here on a sunny Ballard day for the first time. We split one of the vegan burgers. It was pretty good, but definitely a bit smaller then we were expecting for the size. The inside has a cool system of sit and order online through the QR code on the table. I know some people probably don't like that, but I think it actually works really well and it went pretty smoothly. They still bring your food out and help if you need anything, etc. we ended up getting it to go, but we'll probably stop by again to do a sit in! read more

The food was absolutely fantastic! I love their hot dogs. We've been here twice, and both times the food was very good. My boyfriend is a vegan who has traveled the world, and this is one of his top 5 global spots. (It's too bad that as of this review, they might be going out of business! If at all possible try to head there now while it's there!) the prices are quite good too, for the great quality. The dirty fries and corn dogs are delightful. For service, you order at the counter and it gets delivered to the table. I think they'd benefit from making clear that it's a bar-type setup, since the ambiance is like a traditional (small restaurant). Just ordered a Nashville chickn sandwich on Doordash and this is about the worst piece of garbage posing as food I have ever eaten! I took one bite and had to spit it out! There are so few vegan restaurants in Seattle and like others have said, I want to love Cycle Dogs. But ultimately it's just kind of fine? It feels like there has been so much chaos since they opened (I donated to the GoFundMe, follow all of the trials and tribulations on Instagram--it seems like something is always going wrong?) and it's made me a little reticent to stop by. I finally returned on Friday around 6:30 PM. We had no problems ordering but when our friend showed up a bit later there was a confusing back up and she waited on line about 10 minutes (although it wasn't very busy? I just couldn't figure it out). That said, our food came SUPER fast, yay! The street corn was tasty and the Seattle Dog was great! But the veggie burgers were pretty mediocre, the fries were a little burned. I got the "Giant Ass Salad" and thought it was pretty tasty, but wished there were a few more options on the menu that involved vegetables instead of fake meat. The ambiance is pretty meh. I remember when the space was No Bones and it felt so fun in there. Now it's just kind of boring with exceptionally uncomfortable seating (I am fat, and when I looked around, much of the clientele was as well, but the my have those awful omnipresent cafe chairs that are like torture--of course that's like every restaurant in Seattle so I can't blame them). I live in Ballard so I am sure I will be back. I guess it's just that I feel like this place could be so better, but maybe that's an unfair criticism?? read more

We have been ordering food from Cycle Dogs since they were in the food truck and have been happy for them as they have grown. After not eating there for awhile we decided to pick up some food Thursday night. One chicken sandwich, one hot dog, two drinks and two potato salads- $63!! The food is good, the staff is great, but that seems super spendy. We really enjoyed this place, but I don't think We will be coming back. The prices are too steep for what is offered. The BEST vegan junk food I've ever had! I saw the rave reviews before I came and it still blew my expectations away. Seriously I would give 6 stars if I could! The staff are super friendly too. Heads up right now you have to order online in advance (no ordering at the truck, I learned this the hard way). My first time here I got the French Tourist, a special which had breakfast sausage, JUST egg, cheese, chipotle mayo on brioche. Sadly I didn't get any pics of it cause I ate it so fast lol. Every single ingredient was amazing! It didn't taste "vegan" at all, very suspicious but I trust them! My omnivore husband even thought it tasted delicious, especially the chipotle mayo! Just found out they sell it by the bottle so I'm planning to buy one to pour over everything. I came back a week later and got the new special, the Trashy Ciabatta (picture). This was huge, I was superr full afterwards. It was also really good but the French Tourist is still my fave. This is, dare I say, the best burger joint in Seattle. Yes, I know they serve hot dogs, but I can't live without their burgers! Their menu changes every so often and I've tried a few burgers that ALL hit the spot. Their fries are sinful, and don't even get me started on the elote, or we'd be here all night. Cycle Dogs has been on my bookmarks forever, but it's not often that I go that far north. When they announced that they would have a variety of new items for their fundraiser I knew that I had to make the time to go. This particular day they had set up shop at Lantern Brewing, one of their usual stops. Based on their Facebook postings I knew they had a tendency to sell out quickly so I made sure to get there within 30 min. of opening. There was already a sizable line and the kitchen was already seriously backed up. It was about a 40 min. wait. I opted for the hush puppies and a Coney. The hush puppies, which were "eh, okay," came with a delightful Secret Agent Sauce, but alas there was really poor portion control. Some people had plenty of sauce and other people got the short end of the stick and didn't get enough to go around, even while being conservative. The hush puppy corn dog, which sounded totally awesome, wasn't available due to a batter mishap. Seriously disorganization at first, a lot of people weren't sure which order belong to who and some people ended up waiting way longer than they should have. Luckily by the time I made it to the window they had started attaching names to the orders to help smooth things out. The dog itself was pretty disappointing. Field Roast dog (yum!) but the meat topping was pretty meh and the "cheese" had an odd texture that I wasn't really feeling. They're having some growing pains right now as they work to expand, once they get settled I'd be willing to try again and hopefully get the product everyone seems to love. read more

This place is a joke. It wants to be a high-end bar and a fast food joint at once and then wonders why no one's coming? They regularly sub ingredients without notice, close the place on a whim, and cancel online ordering at their convenience. And they wonder why the the regulars stop coming. Absolutely love this place. If you're vegan and looking for a hotdog come no further. This place will hook you up with elote dogs and your classic Seattle dog, vegan of course. But the real king of the menu here in my opinion, is their chicken sandwich. They are all packed with flavor and so beautifully crunchy. So many sauces for dipping to chose from to. I have both eaten in and picked up from here probably 10+ times over the last few months. The food is A+. The BLT, street corn, Caesar wrap, fried chik'n, brunch pancakes (and thrilling bakon!), sweet tea. I'm taking away a star, sadly, because it seems to be hit and miss as far as service. I mostly pick up and now feel I need to verify my food before I leave the restaurant. Today, I walked all the way there and back only to realize my salad had no dressing. I've gotten a different wrap on accident before (still delicious don't get me wrong, I think it was Caesar instead of chik'n bakon ranch which I don't think they have that on the menu anymore). I'm too stubborn to give up on this place because of how good it is when they get the details right. Delicious, delicious, DELICIOUS! I'm surprised they didn't have a huge line wrapping the place! I loveeeee following them on Instagram because you get to see what's the special for the day/evening or experience their hidden menu items! It took me awhile to come around to try them, but it was amazing first experience! I tried their copy of the dick's deluxe. It was hands down the best burger I've ever had! DEAR. GOD. That chicken and waffle is my new obsession. I can't stop thinking king about it. The crisp on the chick'n is so superb and the waffle has a crispy and slightly chewy texture that holds the vegan butter and syrup like a holy grail... The dish is simple, no bells and whistles, just the MEAT, and it's perfect. The sandwiches looked great, also, the husband enjoyed his very much. Brunch was slammed, it took awhile to get our food, but I had a feeling it would be well worth the wait. It was. Staff did their best considering the orders were coming from all angles, take-out seemed to keep pace with indoor dining. And I know, after 30 years in the business myself, a busy kitchen means fresh food and if it's flying out that fast, they're obviously doing something right. Cycle Dogs is our favorite spot in Ballard. The Nashville sandwich is our go-to order. The owner is super nice and very welcoming. He cares deeply about the restaurant, food, and his customers. There's a casual vibe the moment you walk in and place your order. They serve both traditional alcoholic drinks as well as non-alcoholic drinks, including NA liquors. They have a daily special ranging from a side to main. We've never left disappointed. Yes, they only serve vegan food, but non-vegans can (and do) enjoy it too. The flavors are outstanding and we highly recommend giving Cycle Dogs a try. read more

I'll never forget my first experience a long time ago now waiting for what felt like too long for a hot dog (10min?), but still being happy in the end. Fast forward to now and I'm getting my food almost to the minute of the ETA. To the food: get in my belly. This afternoon I had the pleasure of eating the 'chili relleno breakfast burrito'. Let that dreamy concoction sink in for a minute. I didn't. It was gone so fast I could have sworn I had dozed off. Checked my credit card history, it was real. My wife and just moved to Ballard and I am on the hunt to try any and every burger place I could try! Even though this is a vegan burger joint I wanted to try it because I know most veggie or vegan burgers have different tastes. Their burger was so-so. It definitely has that mushy vegan burger taste and it broke very easily. Their fries were very delicious as I finished those very quickly! So for the positive, their staff was super friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home. Also again, the fries were delicious. The reason I give 3 stars is because the vegan burger was not my favorite and because there were flies all inside the building. They had a bug zapper that would go off periodically when it zapped a bug and it was a very loud and annoying sound. It kind of made me feel like it was unsanitary. So that's it! Nice little unassuming vegan shop in No Bones' old space (rip). Our server was really helpful and the perfect amount of attentive. QR code ordering and pay by phone makes things super easy at your own pace as well. Not personally a vegan here, but eat plenty of meatless options. Their dogs are made with field roast which isn't my fav (though the toppings on my friend's elote dog did look good I'm so I'll consider it for next time!) so despite the namesake I opted for a cheeseburger and fries. I'm not vegan. Or vegetarian. Or on a date trying to impress someone who is either one of those. But if I was, I would go here! I am always looking for good food, so whether or not it has meat, which I probably eat 4-5 days out of the week normally, is not a critical factor. The rating and the otherwise scarce availability of meat-based hot dogs in the area made this place pretty appealing. I ordered the Seattle dog with a brat + mustard, sauerkraut, and jalapeños added and a large order of the Hangry Fries. I should also point out that as a recent PNW import, I have never had a meat-based Seattle dog before. I've been to a few of these types of "fancy" hot dog places before, and this was right up there at the top. As a meat-eater, the texture is of course a little different, and the grill flavour a little different, but you could probably fool someone with a few toppings added onto their brat if you didn't tell them it was vegan. It's actually kind of nice to have a more muted flavour from the protein to allow the other ingredients to speak for themselves. The bun holds up pretty well with a lot of toppings, although if you're getting take-out (which everyone is in the COVID era), you probably don't want it to sit for too long. The Hangry Fries are basically Animal-Style fries if you've had In-N-Out. I love In-N-Out but I hate their fries; these fries are better. They actually call these fries Animal-Style at the truck, just not on the website. The topping to fry ratio is pretty good, but you'll want to mix it a little bit otherwise the fries at the bottom will be dry (and probably cold). The portion is pretty good, definitely more than one person should be eating on their own. I honestly don't know what could have made either of these substantially better; I would only try different combinations just for the sake of experimenting for personal taste. The quality is great! Price is usually a big sticking point for me and what makes a 5-star review of someone else a 4-star review for me, but the prices are pretty reasonable, especially considering it's vegan and in Ballard. The fries are maybe a tad expensive because the large size will come out more expensive than the dog on average unless you load it up with toppings, but the portions are reasonable. read more

AMAZING amazing vegan bigmacs. They do them every Friday and to be honest they're better than real bigmacs. And they come with fries! Their mac and cheese is amazing too.
