Had my eye on a Shoei RF-1400 Capriccio helmet to match the motorcycle I was planning on buying. Word around the campfire is Cycle Gear knows how to tell if a helmet is a good fit. Walked in on a Saturday evening and there's an entire wall dedicated to helmets. Fortunately I knew which model I wanted, the only test was whether or not it was a good fit. Jesse is the sales manager at this location and was not only helpful in helping me to understand proper helmet fit, but also talked me into sizing a proper riding jacket and back protection since I was planning on taking delivery of my new bike soon. I received exceptional service, was able to order my helmet with professional communication installation included. I recently visited Cycle Gear in Pleasanton hoping to purchase a new helmet. I spoke with Jesse, who was friendly and assured me that my size would be in the next day by 12 PM if I placed an order. I appreciated the help, but then Jesse mentioned a new payment plan where I could make a down payment of $200, and the remaining $600 would be charged in three payments to my debit card. Hesitant but convinced, I went ahead with it. To my dismay, I later found out that Jesse had taken out a loan for me for the entire $600 without fully explaining the implications. That left me feeling quite frustrated, but I was still holding onto the hope of getting my helmet the next day. Fast forward to the following day: I made the trek back to Pleasanton, excited to finally pick up my helmet. I arrived around 2 PM, but to my disappointment, there was still no helmet in sight. The employees in the store seemed confused and were unable to assist me with a refund or even clarify the situation. Overall, my experience with Cycle Gear was far from satisfactory. Jesse's initial assurance and the promise of great service fell flat, and the lack of communication and support from the staff left me feeling let down. I hope they can improve their customer service and ensure better training for their employees in the future. Still no helmet still no refund and not even a call back from the store zero communication what so ever . Really sad the way this company has gone down hill read more

I came in late Sunday afternoon just before closing. If I was a younger person working here, I would have already had both feet out the door and just hoped these customers would disappear! He signed us up for the Riders Preferred membership which is very beneficial and he was very patient with us. My husband and I were both looking for gear and he helped us look for our sizes. Went in to get my tires replaced, when I got the wheels back I noticed the stems were never replaced even though I asked for them to be replaced. Rubber stems should be replaced every time the tires get replaced at least otherwise they may become dry and crack. Don't know why they don't automatically just change them even though there super cheap to do at least for rubber stems. More importantly though I noticed that my wheel got scratched up from the installation. Fairly deep and the reason I'm writing the review. As a tip for my past self and everyone else, definitely take pictures of your wheels before going in and replacing tires. read more

We came here on November 2nd for Bike Night and I have to come on here to commend Jesse for his excellent customer service. Per usual, most people in these stores ignore me because #1) I'm a woman and #2) I come in with my daughter (now daughters). The assumption is I couldn't be an actual customer at Cycle Gear, but the fact of the matter is I ride a '08 Suzuki GSXR 750, and even though I come with my husband, who is riding the bike at the time, that doesn't mean I don't ride or don't have an interest in motorcycles. Someone has to drive the kids! And it just ends up being me. Jesse was not one of these usual workers. He immediately addressed me and my daughter, asked us if we wanted snacks or a cold beverage that they were giving out at the event. He also came by a couple times to make sure we knew he was available if we needed help. I felt seen. It was a nice change. He seemed genuinely nice and interested in speaking with my husband about his interests as well, and noticed that we had a small baby (2 month old) with us. He asked about her and how old our other daughter is. He was a great employee and I think he needs to be recognized for going above and beyond at his job! The Bike Night had music, cool snacks, cold drinks and little give aways like towels, stickers and bottle openers. They also had a seafood food truck outside. It was a good time and the store itself was clean and had a good selection of items. read more

I am a bit pissed with Cycle gear... The staff is great, super friendly guys but, When I dropped off my super clean and freshly restored vintage 1985 RZ500 wheel for tires I asked nicely to be careful with them and don't scratch them. Well, they did scratch them in 3 seperate places... If you have a concourse clean bike and you need new tires I would think twice about having Cycle gear do them! I should have done them myself as I use plastic tools and use care when installing tires! read more

Even if they don't have what you need in stock, they'll point you in the right direction and tell you what your other options are and the pros/cons. Jesse, the new store manager is amazing. Diego and Aakho have never failed to help me out with my crazy custom chopper ideas and they are very honest and straightforward, if they don't know the answer they'll find it for you. I'm a tad disappointed with Cycle Gear staff and their products. I went to pick up a YUASA YTX12-BS battery but none was in stock. The sales associate sold me their crappy house brand. a Megaboost CTX12-BS, and assured me this battery is a direct replacement. This was not the case. The battery was a little large which made it difficult to pull out of the battery compartment and the terminals were not the right kind. I had to mangle the battery connectors and cut the boots on my motorcycle a bit to make them fit. I should have went with my first choice than take advice from a Cycle Gear associate. Next time I'll order online from a company not associated with Cycle Gear. If you want to make this right, give me a full refund on the batter and give me a set of battery terminals and battery boots to replace the ones I had to alter. Also, credit me the warranty I purchased for the battery as well as credit my RPM account. read more

When outfitting oneself with the proper motorcycle gear, it's a very precarious situation. On one hand you have the excitement of knowing you are doing the right maneuver by shopping at a brick and mortar store; on the other hand you can't help but wonder if its truly beneficial to subject yourself to the pressure of actually being in a fully legit motorcycle establishment. Ron, the representative Dana and I ran into, made our experience enjoyable, informative, and comfortable. Armed with a reference from a fellow rider on a Honda CBR, Dana and I went in simply looking for suitable helmets. Not only were we able to help her figure out her helmet size, but Ron had just the right amount of "bedside manner" in all regards. We got fitted into a great deal consisting of two fresh brand new helmets. Small and medium, respectively. Not to mention he has a savvy way of making you feel great about your purchase, and pretty accurately identifies your needs and interests. We decided to go with additional items, not because we had extra cash to spend, but because I felt we owed it to Ron simply for being such a great resource. He could tell that I was pretty interested in his insight, and having a knowledgeable representative to assist in making such important purchases for your two wheeled cycle should not be misconstrued or devalued. Ive gone to several cycle gears in the Bay Area over the years and this one is consistently the best. The service there is much better than the others. I've been quoted 72 hours to get tires mounted at some cycle gears, but this one has always done them with in a couple hours at most. DJ at Pleasanton is a next level employee. Super friendly and helpful. Remembers me every time I come in and I don't go in all that often. Did a great job mounting my Hypermotard tires. They said mounting the tire would be a 24 hour turn around because they have to deal with customers.. There are 4 different employees doing absolutely nothing. This was hard for me to leave a review like this, but I am pretty frustrated of the product and the ability to return a product that was not doing the job for me. I went to purchase some heated gloves and I thought it would be good to support the local brick and mortar store instead of Amazon. That was a mistake. Let me explain.... I decided to go to this location in Pleasanton, CA because it close to work and I like the Manager and associates. I asked about the Highway 21 heated gloves. According to one, the gloves was going to be almost too warm on the higher settings because we live in California. He said that was what another district manager would say. With that I said I'll take them if they will keep my hands warm. This is where a customer takes the employees word to be reliable. The next morning, I wore them for about 32 minutes of riding and started to feel my fingertips getting colder and colder. It was about 39 degrees outside. Quickly I was finding out that they were not the best in keeping my fingers warm and comfortable. Fast forward, I tried another morning and the same results. Frustration is building and this is where it started to get under my skin. I tried returning them about 3 days later even with the tags still attached to the right glove which I wore once for 46 minutes total time. Spoke to one of the employees and told him what was happening. "Can't return gloves that have been worn" I replied, " even if they are not keeping my hands warm" He replied and said, " there is a 90-day return policy, but gloves and helmets are not returnable unless they are in resealable condition" Like I said, one still had the tags on it. Ok, I do understand store policy, but I wanted to make sure because that's a bigger purchase for gloves, $249. I did ask another store about the return, and they said" they would do it" because of the condition of the gloves, so why not try again to return them to the same store. No luck. That's when I regrated buying anything that was more than $50 instead of going through Amazon or another online store that I shop at. I ended up talking to the Pacheco store and they without any question, returned the item for me. I told my friends why we shop at Cycle Gear if we have no hope of returning a bad product that cost a fair amount. If Pacheco store didn't return it at that time, I was only going to shop other stores locally and online and not return to Cycle Gear. Just be aware of the return policy at all times and try to stop by Pacheco store. read more

I've been to this location three times between April -Aug 2017. The first time was just an average experience, not much help from the clerk who wasn't up to date on products available on the market for USB charging. Didn't make sense to me because all they sell is gear & accessories. Inventory was sparse. A small store so I couldn't understand why the shelves we're bare & picked over yet there's other items stacked up on the floor. Second trip, I walked in, was helped & walked out with my purchase. Third & last time. Wanted a tank bag. Walked in said hello, two clerks played on computer/ cell phone while I showed myself the storage bags. All of it high, out of reach. Couldn't view or inspect anything. No assistance. Tripped over products stacked on the floor. Walked over to clerk asked about tank bags. He said "they're all up there". I walked out. & Will be finding a different shop to deal with. read more
