Oh yeah, I was in route to the outlet mall and stopped for breakfast on the way. I arrived at this establishment as a lone diner and had a five minute wait...which wasn't bad as it was bit crowded. I had a booth all to myself...cool. I ordered a western omelet with sausage and it was pretty good. I also had a pancake and breakfast potatoes with a meal. I had breakfast for lunch here today. Everyone was friendly and the place was clean. Prices are good as well. I ordered the hearty breakfast, with grits, bacon, scrambled eggs, & a pancake. I added chocolate chips to my pancake for $1. The meal was very good and it was $10.50 after the chocolate chips added. Pancake was very fluffy! I will be back when I'm on this side of town. The only reason I took off one star is because I never got a refill. Service was somewhat slow although they were friendly. read more

Always a wait, but so worth it. What a great "neighborhood" breakfast spot. They also have lunch items, but I like the breakfast so much I haven't tried any lunch stuff yet. If you are looking for a local gem for breakfast, this is the place to go. Don't let the wait scare it. I will say one thing about Cypress Breakfast House: They've mastered The Art of Pancake. They are at once tender, but firm. Flavorful, but mild. A perfectly textured canvas upon which you may paint recklessly with whipped butter and maple-flavored syrup. Very good stuff. If only the same could be said of some of the other items on the menu... I've never known a sausage patty to taste "dry" before this. And I found that the corned-beef hash was *assembled* from it's component parts instead of prepared as one dish. What I mean is that, while the corned beef was good, and the hash browns were good, they existed as separate entities. Neither was imbued with the essence of the other - as if the two had only just met, and this was an uneasy blind date. Likely, we will be back, because it is rather conveniently located and (seriously, OMG) the pancakes are good. I hope that the restaurant finds it's stride. Wait time was 15 minutes on a Saturday at noon, for a party of two. Service was quick and server was friendly and accommodating. I appreciate that they leave a carafe of iced tea and water at the table so, there is no waiting for refills. The Benedict Buenos was delicious and flavors were well balanced. The pancakes are fluffy, flavorful and filling. Portions are satisfying and prices are fair. We will certainly be back! read more

I order chicken and waffles based on a recommendation of a friend. The order was placed in advance and got there in the 15-20 time frame given. The food wasn't ready waited another 30mins. For the wait and the price I expected the food to be fresh and piping hot. I was wrong. The food was mildly warm like it had been sitting for a while. My waffle was so soggy and soft and the cool chicken was not flavorful or even seasoned with salt and pepper. After that disappointing visit I will not return. read more

Whoever said the coffee was great obviously doesn't know quality coffee. Worst pot of stuff ever. We thought that we'd been given the last pot of the batch and politely asked for a new one. Nope...same thing. It had to have been watered down Folger's. So much for that idea. Anyways, we arrived on a Sunday around 10:45 and were met with a crowd of people waiting. I opened the door and was immediately standing in the dining room - a little taken aback, but no worries. The place smelled good and the servers and manager were hustling. We waited maybe 15-20 minutes to be seated. Our server was attentive, maybe a little overworked with too many tables, but we got our waters and coffee on the spot. My two year old was exceptionally behaved today and I am thankful, as it took over 30 minutes for our order to come out...and it wasn't fresh off the griddle. I think the kitchen was a little backed up, but when the food arrived we were pleasantly surprised. My son had 3 pancakes with a strip of bacon, and I suppose the reviews are true - the pancakes were so good that he ate all 3. This child usually eats an Eggo for breakfast and won't eat for hours, so to see him stuff his face made my morning. Hubby got fried chicken and biscuits with gravy, and a side of potatoes. He said it was excellent - the gravy was peppery and not too thick. I ordered two poached eggs (perfectly poached, omg), an order of grits (best I've ever had), hashbrowns (standard, probably frozen? either way still good) and a slice of ham (good and salty). It was a great Sunday breakfast and we all left happy, except for that pot of coffee that we left. Blech. If you've been to The Egg and I, this is EXACTLY the same concept. It's almost like a previous manager ran off and created this place. No bother to me, I like having a local joint to go to and lately haven't been in the mood to cook. This used to be one of my favorite places for breakfast. It was always crowded and had a wait and was well worth it! It changed owners and everything was still great for a while. We went this morning and service was super slow and the quality of food was not what it usually is. The servers were in their usual black shirts and pants and every one of them were filthy with shirts hanging halfway out of their pants. Food was all over their shirts and pants and it did not look professional at all. I understand in that industry you will have spills but you need to look clean and crisp not matter where you work or what your position is. I really hope they can get these things back in order. I have a feeling that this place gets super crowded on weekends, but if you're off during the week, I'd give this place a shot. Try the benedict's buenos aka the mexican version of eggs benedict. Cornbread, chorizo, eggs, avocado, queso, pico de gallo makes a very tempting dish. Honestly, I think this meal has the potential to be a living legend like Drake. The only thing preventing it from coming through is the chorizo and cornbread were a little dry. Fix that, and we've got a winner. read more

A nice place for breakfast with friendly people. I have to give them a lower rating now, because they no longer have reasonable hours for a breakfast place. I used to go here regularly, but cannot go anymore because they open too late. When they opened at 6 am, you could have breakfast and make it to work on time. Because it's popular there is often a line, but it's worth the wait. Update: Today my omelette was not fully cooked. No wait to be seated at 8:25 AM. Our order was taken at 8:29 by our server, Emiley. Emiley's witty and playful banter made us feel right at home. My wife ordered the Strawberry Dream Waffle, and I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and eggs with hashbrowns and toast. The waffle was light and very tasty on its own. The strawberries were fresh and sweet and the whipped cream added just the right amount of sweetness to the meal. The chicken fried steak breakfast was delicious. The steak was well seasoned. A hearty meal if you are very hungry. My only recommendation is to put the steak with gravy on the main plate and the toast on a side plate. Another splendid breakfast, we got here around 9:15 and there was nary a wait. Still good coffee, you get a nice carafe and thick mugs that don't hold a lot but wait! there's the fat carafe right in front of you! I think I poured four cups, hubs maybe three. You get a carafe for water too YAY and it's yummy water (not tap water). Greeted and seated within just a few (under five) minutes. The tables are pretty tightly placed...I saw a gigantic man getting into the booths with no problem so if your girth is large, there's a booth for you. Ordered a two egg, bacon, sourdough toast and fruit. Yes, the eggs still taste farm fresh. The bacon is thick, the sourdough toast thick and buttery. Hubs had a carnivore omelette and it was stuffed with bacon, sausage and another meat, but I don't know what. He said there were three meats, though. Probably ham. His wheat toast looked hearty, he loves their hash browns. Bathrooms are one seaters but clean. Staff very friendly and not harried. Servers were wearing red shirts today and they looked appropriate, as opposed to what another reviewer said about them being dirty looking. The only untucked shirts I saw were busboys. Anyway, we love this place and will happily give Cypress Breakfast House our business any day of the week. read more

I will start with the pros. Staff was friendly and even though the restaurant was busy (the line was outside), the wait was only about 20 min. They have a number of different creamer flavors for the coffee, something I always appreciate since most restaurants only tend to carry half and half. The pancakes were great. The small stack was very filling, three supper fluffy pancakes with the perfect hint of sweetness. Turkey sausage patties were also great, when are they not? Toast was good, but I've never met a piece of toast that I didn't like. The potatoes, hash browns and eggs were not seasoned, very disappointed. I had to add, ketchup, salt, pepper and hot sauce just to get a little flavor going. It's possible that because they were so busy, seasoning was overlooked in an effort to get food out quickly. I am not sure if I would visit again since I didn't enjoy most of the food on my plate, but it may be worth a return visit, everyone deserves a second chance. read more

Our waitress paid for attention to the booth full of her friends rather than us. She failed to get my order right (didn't apologize either, said she swore she heard something else).
