These guys are the greatest. I had previously taken my VW Getta to them when I had it and they did a great job. I now have a VW Tiguan and it's been having that noise brakes have when they need to be repaired and sometimes it seems that when I go to stop it doesn't stop immediately. I dropped it off today before work and they just called and said my brakes still have 70% left on them and nothing needs to be done. I asked him how much I owe him for checking them out and he said nothing, just bring the car back when the brakes needs to be changed. I am so impressed with them. They sold me two lower control arms for $200ea that I could buy the exact Moog parts off the internet for $60ea. I will give them some profit but 200 plus percent is a rip off. Step 1. Recently my car started squeaking a shrill, screaming bloody murder shriek every time I drove it. I started considering places to go which was overwhelming considering my little trooper Honda has never needed service before. I first went to place recommended by my good ol' pops. This was a mistake. (No offense, dad.) Pops recommended place only fixed half the problem...still squeaked. (Squeaked it's the right word...my poor little car SCREAMED. Hide yo kids). At this point I had to blast the AC and turn up the music...Avoid eye contact to other drivers...apologize for waking neighbor children...yah it got that bad. Step 2. Consult Yelp. (Duh.) Step 3. Called these guys and boom. SO nice and calm on the phone when I described my screaming car "that kinda grinded metal sometimes...sometimes not though...but it doesn't do it in the mornings tho..." Yeah not sounding like an idiot when talking about cars isn't really my strong suit. Make an appt immediately, drive right up that week for them to check it out. Step. 3. Immediately saw my back brakes were out and gave me a quote. Was easy going when I had to reschedule because of a busy day. Within a few hours it was good to go. I cannot express to you enough how genuinely friendly and chill these men are. It feels like you're dropping off your car to one of your good friends. Especially recommended to those not completely knowledgable about cars and weird screaming noises. read more

I have to give props to Tom and everyone else I spoke with at D & D Brake Services. After taking my Jeep into the dealer to get one of my many free oil changes they said my brakes needed to be bled. No other information, no status of pads or anything else and they quoted me a pretty high figure (I'm no mechanic but not an idiot). I decided to look elsewhere to get it done. After doing my research on Yelp I landed on D& D Brake Services as they were close and highly rated. I see why now. I called in and set up an appointment for Saturday morning. I had some extra time the day before so I called in last minute as a long shot and surprisingly they said they'd be able to fit me in. I show up and everyone was super friendly, they got my car into the bay immediately and started diagnosing some of the issues I had when I spoke to them on the phone about (prior squeaking, long brake pedal travel before engagement, and general unresponsiveness). Tom comes back to me in no time and gives a complete diagnosis. The pads are fine and are at 80%, and that the brakes DO need to be bled as the water content is above a certain percentage. He also explains common causes of squeaking and potential fixes, and how to approach those fixes in a cost effective manner. I wait around for a bit (20 to 30 minutes tops) and he comes back and surprises me with the news that my car is ready to go. They flushed and replaced the fluid, adjusted the brake pedal so it engages sooner, and also noticed the hand brake was having issues engaging and fixed that as well. The brakes are now more responsive than when I got it used from the dealer and it cost me HALF of what the dealer wanted to do the same work. These guys are obviously doing something right here as you can see on Yelp and it was the best experience I've had taking a car anywhere. read more

Quick take - great shop with helpful friendly mechanics. One of the toughest things to find in a new city is a good mechanic. Given that most people don't know a whole lot about their vehicles, its pretty easy to get ripped off. Even if you do know some things like I do, there are still plenty of ways for a skilled mechanic to pump up costs of simply things especially when it comes to brakes. Not so at D & D. This place is run by two of the nicest mechanics I have ever met. They identified everything that was going on with my brakes free of charge. Best of all, they only replaced the parts I needed bringing my costs way. At some places, I have had to insist on just replacing the one worn rotor, etc. These guys did that right off the bat and really came across as though they wanted to keep my overall cost as low as possible. In the end, I saved $250 and my brakes are working great. Highly recommended. read more

A top-notch experience! I called D & D Brakes today to schedule an appointment for some squeaky brakes and they managed to get me in same-day. Awesome. I brought my car in and they had me sorted out within 20 minutes. They inspected the brake pads - 80% left - so they cleaned up the pads and adjusted my parking brake, and told me to get my brakes checked again at 50k miles. I'm not a car guy so I'm basically at the mercy of any auto mechanic I talk to and these guys were straight up and affordable. Diagnosed the problem and replaced the shocks at a very fair price before I had a chance for my ride to even get me home! Picked it up Saturday. Just ridiculously surprised. I called and was wondering what they would do for me: They beat all the other guys in price and honesty. They installed a battery AND a filter for me for 30 dollars (The filter was really labor intensive) saving me ridiculous amounts of money from the dealership - Infiniti wanted to charge me 80 dollars. I honestly recommend this place - their number one concern is having repeat clientale and I am coming here for EVERYTHING I can not just brakes! To top it all off: I bought a battery that didnt fit from Autozone (Not my error) they got me a better deal on the battery and delivered it from O'riellys. This review is about a year late, and for that I'm sorry. This is the sort of establishment people should be praising and granting their 5 stars like crazy. In my defense, I have been talking about D&D via word of mouth since my ridiculously AMAZING experience. The brakes on my ex-boyfriends car suddenly failed as we were parallel parking. Luckily, we were parking into the place we were staying. Not so lucky, it was a Friday at 4pm and places were starting to close. We did a frantic search for places we could have the car towed to. We weren't even going to be choosy about it, but I happened upon the Yelp reviews. This is the best time my fellow yelpers have not failed me. The car was towed to D&D and we got there at around 4:50pm, the place was going to close in ten minutes but the owner (or manager) didn't seem to mind staying and looking over the car before he closed up shop. He was straight up and honest with us. There was no BS sales pitch. He was understanding, real, and human. He stood by his practice and while we expected a heavy price for the work that had to be done, he also understood our financial situation. He helped us get the best prices he could be calling everyone HE knew to see what they could do for us. Talk about above and beyond. I wish there was a better way I could thank the people who work for D&D, but a yelp review will have to do. I will never go to anyone else, and I recommend no one else go anywhere else. Purchased the yelp deal, went in because brakes were making some noise. Was looking to spend about 3-400 Went in, they took a look at my car and said my brakes still had a ton of life left! Last Thursday I noticed a grinding noise when I started to brake and I was not exactly sure what was wrong. When it persisted, I called my boyfriend (a mechanical engineer) and he told me that I should take it in. That was when I decided to go to Yelp to find the best place to take it. Although D & D Brake Services has 5 stars on yelp, I was still very hesitant to trust a mechanic based on past experiences. That being said, I still called and told them I was hoping to get my car in as soon as possible and he told me that I could come in the next day at 8:00 am. We were off to a good start but I still wasn't sure if they were going to try and overcharge me or up-sell me on products I did not need. When I arrived at the shop, the man who greeted me was very friendly. He told me that I could just leave my car (I had to go to work) and they would call me with an estimate for how much it would be. He called me a half an hour later and listed three things that needed to be replaced. When he told me the cost I was floored (in a good way). The place I called before I went to Yelp wanted to charge me well over one hundred dollars more for just changing my brake pads. At D & D I was able to get my brake pads changed, my rotor fixed and my alignment fixed for under 200 dollars. They were so cheap and they did great work. WOW this place is awesome. My brakes started going out the other day, if I didn't have such spiderman-like reflexes I could've easily rear ended a car on the freeway. The next day I started calling a bunch of shops that had good reviews, and most of them quoted $500+ to replace brakes and rotors. D&D Quoted me something like $222. I had left my wallet in my friend's car the night before I had my appointment and D&D were gracious enough to allow me to call them back with the payment. Also they're completely honest! Since they didn't have to replace my rear brakes they lowered the cost by roughly $30 from what they quoted me. I'll never get brake service anywhere else again! read more

The guy took 5 minutes to check the brakes out and give me an estimate. We could only afford to fix the front brakes and he was fine with that. Larry greeted me as soon as I walked in the office. Small office, just how you would expect from a local shop. Nothing fancy like the big name places. I called the night before to ensure they can get to my car before I had to go to work at noon, damn these guys beat the promised time by at least an hour. Kuddos for that. They didn't recommend other things that did not need attention. Dealer near Walmart told me I needed new rear brakes but I don't think I needed it since I replaced it last year. Writing this review was the reason I signed up for Yelp. A business this good needs to be talked about and deserves all the work they can handle. I want to do all I can to help them get that. I called D&D Brake for a quote on servicing the rear drum brakes on my wife's car. The quote they gave me was less than half the price of the other quotes I had received. I arrived for my appointment and Larry immediately got to work on the car. Soon he had called me over to show me that there was still a significant amount of pad material left and replacing the pads was not needed. I suspect that another shop might have just gone ahead and replaced the pads, but not D&D. Larry then proceeded to take the glazing off the pads and clean out the inside of the drums. He put everything back together, adjusted the brakes, and talked to me about a couple things he had seen while working that I might want to keep an eye on. When I asked how much I owed I was told not to worry about it. The brake adjustment alone resulted in a firmer pedal feel and a more positive handbrake engagement both of which are worth something. This is a business with integrity. Several weeks ago I replaced the front disc brakes on this car myself and after this experience I wish I had taken it to D&D Brake so they could have gotten more business. I have been a customer of D&D brakes for over 15 years! It's the only place I will go for brake service. Terry and his crew are awesome! They do great work, super fast and you can trust them! One of my first experiences with them I was expecting to need all new brakes, rotors, and sensors. When they finished they told me they only needed to replace two pads and everything else looked good. I was shocked! How many times have you gone in for service and are told you only need a couple of the items you expected to have done because the other items still had life in them? Their prices are awesome too! I was at the dealership getting an oil change and they decided to give me a quote for front brakes, rotors and sensors because I needed them done sooner than later...D&D was 1/3 the price of what the dealership quoted me. The BMW dealership does have sodas and latte's for "free" but it would have cost me over $800 more to have it done at the dealership! D&D is awesome and I highly recommend them! This place lives up to all of the Yelp reviews. The customer service, patience, and just all round genuine attitude of these guys is a breath of fresh air. I ordered new EBC rotors and brakes online and had these guys install them. Labor was decently priced for install. Before I ordered, I called them and asked a few questions about installation and the brands they carry. They don't carry performance rotors, but they answered all of my questions and even provided brand recommendations. They coincidentally named the brand I was looking at, so I knew it was a go. I made an appt as soon as the brakes came in. Larry and Tom were very accommodating and communicative. This place is awesome and truly worth the 5 stars. On my road trip to Seattle from San Diego, I had some alarming brake issues while going down some hills. They cleared up once I hit the flat and level highway, so I decided to wait until I got to Seattle to check them out. Upon arriving, my brother suggested D&D brakes, saying that they were some of the best mechanics he's used (and that's saying lot, for a lifetime career truck driver). I went and set up an appointment for the next day. True to the other reviews I've seen here, they were very thorough and after a lot of investigation, they found no issues with the brakes. I was happy to hear that, and fully expected to pay an assessment fee, but they insisted that it was no charge. Let me tell you, this attitude does NOT exist in California. Every place I've gone for checkups assess at least a $50 fee, if not more. D&D didn't charge me a penny for their time, and I fully trusted their conclusion based on the depth of their investigation. I wish D&D Brakes were in San Diego, because I would make them my new "go to" brake shop. Awesome job guys, and THANK YOU so much for everything! read more

With my brakes making some serious noise I called around trying to find someplace I could take my car for a brake inspection. Most of the places wanted me to leave my car with them for at least a day. One place even suggested I drop the car off and they'd let me know in a few days what was needed. I searched Yelp for brake services and saw D&D Brakes had a nearly perfect rating. I'd never heard of them before, but with a few hours of spare time on a Saturday at Noon between other items I stopped off without an appointment just to check it out. A mechanic who was working obviously heard the noise my car was making. He put his tools down frowning at my rear tires and met me before I could get out of the car. They had an open bay and he hopped in my car putting it right in. He told me they'd take a look as fast as possible. 30 mins later a different mechanic came in told me what was wrong, took me out, showed me the exact problem and said they'd be able to get it done in about 90 mins if I had the time. They told me exactly how much it would cost. It was serious enough I didn't want to wait and agreed. No paperwork, no hassle just a "cool, if you want to go get coffee or something just give me your cell so I can call when it's done." They finished in less than an hour including test driving to be sure everything was in working order. Total time there just under two hours. The price was less than I expected based on similar work done at another shop on my wife's car. I'm definitely going back for all my future brake work needs. read more
