I'm sure the food is great... but my husband and I went there around 9am last week and we were greeted by a very sweet host. We got our water and our orange juice, (which is amazing by the way). We ordered about fifteen minutes later with another nice young lady. Thirty minutes later we still have no food and no one has come to tell us the update. A couple minutes later the couple who came in at the same time as us got their food. We decided to wait a little longer. About ten more minutes and some people at the counter got their fold and they had been in for barely fifteen minutes. These tables both had a different waitress than us. Anyway, we gave it another 15/20 mins finally talked to our waitress who apologized and went to "go check". I'm pretty sure she had forgotten to put the order in. I've worked at busy restaurants before and it never takes that long. Also it didn't seem that busy while we were there. She said it will come right out but we didn't want to wait, we were super hungry after waiting over an hour! We went to pay for the orange juice but the waitress told us it was on her because of the mistake. We left. Will attempt to try again one day but maybe do a to go order instead. read more

Yet one more former Norfolk gem where the quality of both food and service has declined yet they have made the same mistake of adding a fee to your bill if you don't pay cash. It's not as though they have not increased their prices more than enough to cover their own operating cost but they must have thought "hey, here's a way to squeeze another buck or so from our loyal customers who won't notice or care". I was visiting my boyfriend and we decided a nice Saturday brunch was in order. So he took me here :) I was skeptical at first just because it was my first time visiting the mainland in a while but I now understand why all the college kids flock here for a perfect Saturday hangover breakfast. We showed up and parking was limited but luckily found a spot as soon as we pulled in. Walked in, greeted as soon as we walked in the door. They told us it'd be a 15 minute wait for 2 but we were literally seated 2 minutes later. Service was so friendly and welcoming which is especially nice since I'm nowhere near a morning person. I ordered the veggie omelet and it was almost as fluffy as the Japanese style omelets we get here all the time. Finally got to try this place, and I'm so glad I did! The service was great! Our server was very friendly and never let my boyfriend's coffee go empty. I can't get over how fresh the orange juice was either. I made my own omelet with havarti, ham, and green peppers. I added avocado, and my server put it on the side for me which was nice because I made avocado toast. The eggs were the most fluffy omelette I've ever had. After passing by here so many times I finally had a chance to stop in for breakfast on Sunday morning. d'egg West is located on the corner of Lexan Ave. and Hampton Blvd not far from ODU. You have to be looking for it or you'll drive right past it. I arrived around 11am and the place was completely full with a small line inside the door. Waiting wasn't long however as I was seated at the counter within about 5 minutes. For breakfast? I had the 'Larchmont Favorite' which consisted of 2 eggs any way you like them, bacon or sausage patty, home fries and then your choice of toast or a biscuit. Cost was a little over $6.00. The meal itself was pretty basic and nothing to write home about. What stood out to me on this visit was the service. It was excellent. The staff was friendly, talkative and definitely speedy.I was in and out of there in 30 minutes. d'egg is also not only a breakfast / brunch establishment, it's a full service restaurant. There are plenty of choices on the menu and even the most picky eater won't have any trouble finding something to eat. Overall, 3 stars out of 5. The food didn't totally wow me, but the service did. My boyfriend chose this restaurant to have brunch, since we had a stomachache from the dinner we had yesterday at Big Easy Seafood Company... Please don't go to that one! Well... Back on track. This restaurant is very small, but on a Sunday at 1 PM we only waited 5 minutes for a table. Our waiter was very nice and fast too. We had the Brisket Benedict which was on point! The brisket gave a lot of flavor, but didn't overpowered it. The only downside is that we got the french fries 5 minutes after we got the Brisket Benedict and I was almost done. I did not really cared for the fries because they were a bit too greasy. I ordered the Banana Foster French Toast and it was SOOOO GOOD! I'm not a French Toast lover, but this was very nicely prepared. I do not recommend it if you do not like The French Toast to be extremely sweet. My boyfriend had a Biscuit on the side and he said it was OK; he expected it to be more tasteful than KFC since it is supposed to be homemade. Sunday Brunch My friend and I came here for a nice Sunday brunch. The decor was cute and the music was a little dated. The wait time was average but staff overlooked my name in the wait list and started calling people after me. The meal, I ordered a blueberry pancake and a "build your own omelette". The pancake had a rubbery texture so I had to smother it in syrup to counterbalance it. The omelette was light and fluffy. I added bacon, onion and American cheese. I wish the onions were sautéed and incorporated in the onion and not used as a garnish. The bacon was cooked to perfection. Although the eggs has a nice texture they lacked flavor. I had to use a healthy helping of table salt and pepper. The same went for the hash browns. They lacked flavor and I had to use what was in my immediate area to make them to taste. However I can say that my waitress was really nice and polite. My only critique is that she would have made her presence more known. She only visited the table three times. The overall experience was bland like the hash browns. My only tip is to check the silverware. read more

I hesitated on making this review but decided to just go ahead and make it . Upon entering D'Egg my husband and I waited at the front to be seated . While waiting the waitresses standing at the cash register were extremely rude and continued to seat other individuals that came in after us . After the realization dawned on them we were seated . We waited about 15 minutes before our drink order was taken . Said thank you to the waiter while she gave no response and continued walking away with every thank you instead of saying you're welcome . I place my order , it doesn't come out for about 35 minutes and when it's brought out it's incorrect . Another waitress brings bacon out and it has plastic in the bacon . I guess I inconvenienced her . Mind you I've been to this location several times and the customer service has been on point prior to this visit . I miss the waitress that was extremely friendly and kind to my husband and I before this visit . I will not be returning . I also sat and watched this same group of waitresses ignore customers standing by the bar waiting to be seated and looked over them as well . Would hate to play the race game but all these individuals in waiting and being treated rudely were African American . I'll leave pictures below of the slip I was served . First time here and let me tell ya, this place is YUMMY! The building is small and they don't have much seating so make sure to get there early! We had about a 20 minute wait before we were seated which is no big deal but we had to stand next to people eating which was a little awkward for them. My husband got regular pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and bacon and loved it all besides the hashbrowns. He said they were cold and pretty soggy compared to what we are used to. Alright no problem, it's Sunday morning and I understand, around 35 minutes of waiting right outside of their door (because of COVID restrictions) another family comes up and walks inside and within a minute they get a table. I wondered if maybe they checked in earlier online or through phone so I went up to the waitress to check the status and they told me they forgot about us and the only Have that one table that can fit a family. Absolutely love D'egg! The Turkey Reuben and the Patty Melt are a couple of my favorites. The servers have always been extremely nice and attentive. I have seen a few complaints about having to wait a bit to be seated. Common sense should tell you that's because it's so good!! I've never had to wait as long as I do at some of the bigger chain restaurants and it's always worth the wait. They are very efficient at maximizing seating and getting tables cleared rapidly to accommodate those who are waiting. I started bringing friends here for lunch and they've become fans as well. One is addicted to the club sandwich and another raved about their French fries. I can't wait to try the whole menu! read more
