At first I was skeptical of a "fancy" Mexican restaurant- but this place is AMAZING. Everything is fresh and authentic, and I can't believe I haven't come here sooner. The food was good, but at 2pm they had very select offering for food and drinks. There were two really attentive & friendly staff members, but everyone one else was almost like annoyed we were there. This place came highly recommended by a few people so we decided to finally give it a try. We ordered the D' La Santa Parrillada for take out, which includes a few types of meat (chorizo, carne asada, chicken, short ribs) as well as some tortilla. Everything was extremely well packaged and super flavorful! The chorizo was unfortunately pretty dry and cold by the time we got home. My favorite was their short ribs and carne asada. They were both flavorful, tender and some of the best I've had! Would highly recommend ordering individual meats vs the parrillada combo unless you want to try everything. While this place was definitely worth picking up from, I can't wait to try it again while eating at the restaurant and the meats comes straight off the grill. read more

Great place! The taco is just meat on top of a tortilla, but they give you plenty of complimentary sides. As someone who loves a lot of toppings, I appreciate the "build your own taco" concept. The homemade salsas are delicious as well. The bone marrow was really oily, but seasoned perfectly. It was super hot when it first came out, so we had to wait a bit for it to cool down. This is an amazing date spot! The atmosphere is so nice, they have a gorgeous fake tree in the middle with lights. It's a family run restaurant. If you're up for a big steak or need a spot to have a meal with someone this spot is amazing. They serve 60-80 lb tomahawks. They are great to share with someone, and your dog for the leftovers. Date night approved!!!! its a cute cozy vibe with amazing service. 4 stars because the seating is crazy. During this whole pandemic, the last thing I want to do is sit literally elbow to elbow with a stranger lol. the tables are sooo close together and it was just awkward and felt like we were having dinner with our neighbors. I recommend asking for outside seating on a busy night. Other than the seating issue, the food and drinks were delicious. Drinks: Margarita and Jicara. Served in huge clay cups, you don't wanna skip out on the cocktails, they are amazing. My fiancé and I have been wanting to try this place for years but didn't get around to it until Valentine's weekend 2022. They don't take reservations so we got there at opening time (5 pm) to avoid any lines/waits in the cold. Parking was relatively easy to find on the street as it's located in a neighborhood. They were able to seat us right away. Upon sitting down, they give you a tray of colorful veggies and toppings. We were overwhelmed with all the choices on the menu but settled on birria tacos, arroz del dia, short ribs, and two cocktails. Our server was very patient with us as we asked a million questions. We were very satisfied with our choices. We struggled to finish all of our food and drinks as the portion sizes were generous (or we have smaller appetites). We enjoyed the decor and setting of our dinner and will definitely be back to try more dishes on the menu! read more

Great place for a date night! The space is inviting with a mix of metals, natural woods and glass. The centerpiece of the space is a beautiful tree. Their approach to Mexican cuisine is a very different concept than any other Mexican restaurant you'll find in Seattle - it is true! The presentation of food placed on beautiful clay plates gives your eye an experience as well as the food and spices. It's like a party in your mouth. As for the service, our server rocked and waited on us like we were the only ones in the place. I'd highly recommend this place for a date night and craving traditional Mexican food. A completely magical meal. I can say it was the best food I've had in the last three years. We arrived minutes before opening and there were already 5 tables of people waiting. By the time we sat down to order all tables were full - a great recommendation in popular vote. The setting is magically from the two smiling chefs in back to the twinkling metal cut out framed mirrors and the fanciful tree in the middle of the room. The music allowed conversation. Service was prompt, helpful. If with the sudden rush opening dishes came out very quickly and soon the table was over flowing with rustic plates of whole fresh food. If you're looking for a traditional American Mexican restaurant this is not the place to go. The dishes are not covered and thick layers of melted cheese, piles of refried beans and out of the pack tostada chips. If this is what you're looking for you will be very disappointed. However, if you want the best example of authentic Mexican cuisine this is it. We had: Guacamole appetizer - it was served with flat oven crisped was mixed with fresh herbs and onion, which tasted amazing. Chile en Nogada - visually beautiful upon arrival to the table as it's jeweled with pomegranate seeds. It is a poblano pepper stuffed with meat, nuts, apple covered in a wine sauce. Unique and the combination extremely delicious. Nopal - (we choose without cheese) a mixture of zucchini, broccoli, onions, mushrooms, peppers, and chilies served over a cactus leaf (bright citrus tones) served with white beans and chili sauce. I could easily come back every day this week, and have this and not be disappointed. It's really hard to find a restaurant that hits all points of good food good atmosphere and excellent service . This was once one of my favorite restaurants. It no longer is. The food was mediocre at best, the ambiance was terrible. The service was busy and bad. First, drinks and food. The sangria was very good: fresh fruit, tasty, good size. The food however has declined. My companion's gobernadot tacos were good, but some of the stuff in condiments tray was less than fresh. As to my carne en su jugo, they must have dumped the entire contents of a salt mine in it. Sadly , the food was the high point. The worst part was the ambiance. Don't get me wrong: the look of the place is as charming as ever. But the loud reguetön ruined everything. We had to shout to hear each other. There was no escaping this as the outside was closed. Señores: el reguetón no estimula ni el ánimo ni el apetito--- por favor! In a restaurant with $50 items on the menu, one should not have to put up with loud music. And, no, I did not order an expensive dish because I was certain I would not enjoy it. Had I been alone, I would have left after the waiter lied, telling me it was impossible to reduce the volume on the music. He also would not let me speak to anyone with the authority to do anything about the loud music. But he did keep coming back every few minutes to ask if everything was ok, tasting good-- another sign of bad service. All of this made me very sad. What was once among my favorite restaurants in Seattle had joined my list of very bad ones. read more

I'm keep getting back to this place. Definitely my favorite Mexican place to go. The way they cook the meet is heavenly good, served with cactus. Most of food were a bit salty this time but alright. Loved how they made the tortillas crispy ams served with queso fundido. The way they made outer shell of crispitos is genius (chicharon+cheese). Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food at this spot, and it's so close to home that it will be part of our dinner spot rotation. Staff were friendly and provided great insight to the menu, and the drinks were to DIE for. Rumchata was sweet and did not have an overwhelming taste of rum, would've been perfect with a little more cinnamon but the margarita was phenomenal. This place was authentic from the plates to the menu, and I really loved the Cochinita Pibil and the flavor it had. The rice and beans were also great so a well rounded meal overall. This is the first genuinely authentic Mexican restaurant I've found in Seattle, and I'm so happy to know I can get flavors that remind me of home so close by. Will definitely be returning. read more

Party of six, was seated Right away, a Friday at 6:30 ish. Was welcomed with water and lovely salsa, pico de Gallo, pickled onions, cilantro and onions. Loved it, except for you don't get anything to try any of it with. We ordered molletes, tetuano and guacamole. All very yummy, used all that to use the little tray of toppings and salsa. Ordered a parrillada says serves 3 but four of us ate it. Service was great. Minus the one star, for the no spoons or toppings I used my fingers or my fork. This place is so underrated! The food was so flavorful, the service was amazing and the vibes were on point. You're not going to be disappointed if you're looking for some authentic Mexican food for a nice lil dinner - the place is so charming right down to the plates and spoon. The salsa and add ons are laid out for you from the start and something about their chorizo hits so good. I have also not found birria tacos as good as these ones in Seattle - it's so juicy that my mouth is watering as I type this. D' La Santa is my favorite discovery as of recent. Anyone who knows me knows I love love love Mexican food and all my friends have been raving about this spot. They don't take reservations, but luckily we came on a Sunday night so were seated upon arrival. The space is fairly small, but comfortable. I love the variety they have here. Everything from a baked potato to beef soup. It's not just your typical combination of meat, rice, and beans served a million different ways. The range is.. chef's kiss. Tuetanos - Need I say more? If you're an avid carnivore with an appreciation for some good fat then this is a must. This bone marrow quite literally melts in your mouth and was such an experience. Birras Tacos - Starting to realize the whole experience of eating a birria taco is less about the taco itself but so much more about the consome. The taco was delicious, yes, BUT THAT BROTH... WOW. Has about 7 different levels of flavor to it and I can taste them all. It is so fatty and rich and puts every other consome I've tried to shame. I can't go back. Carne Asada (Wagyu) - Mishima Reserved Ultra, grade 8. Served with a baby quesadilla, grilled cactus, whole pinto beans, chorizo & special roasted salsa. (Quoted directly from the website). Now I liked this dish and I think the meat was cooked very well. Super easy to chew thus demonstrating prime tenderness. The grilled cactus was meh and chorizo was cool too but also unnecessary. I'd rather they just load up on the beef. The food comes with this complimentary plate of garnishes to add your food. This includes, cilantro, onions, additional salsa, pico de gallo and more. I love love love this option and the array of toppings is so beautifully presented. Service was outstanding when we were dining in. Our server was so accommodating and checked up frequently. However, we recently placed a to go order on a busy night and it took way too long to pick up my food and pay. Nonetheless, I will give this restaurant a well deserved, 5 star rating, because everything else is perfect. read more

The server tried to talk to us in spanish and won't lie, my expectations went up. The place already looked unique with the tree decor in the centre. We tried the molettes, cochinita pibil (pork slow cooked in banana leaves) and the vegetarian nopal. The slow cooked pork was very flavorful. Decided to try this place out for an early weekday lunch. Saw online that the restaurant opened at 11am, but when we showed up at 11:05 the door was locked, lights were off, and no one could be seen inside. We waited for a couple more minutes, and thought maybe they were closed. We were in the middle of looking up other places to go instead when we saw a lady appear in the back of the restaurant. A couple minutes later she let us in and seated us. There was an elderly couple already seated in the back, but I think they were either employees or family members helping out. The waitress was very friendly, and when I asked for recommendations she suggested the two entrees that we were interested in already, so that was perfect. FOOD: Salsa Platter (included) - at the beginning you are brought a large platter of various toppings and salsa. This is for accompanying your food to come. Queso fundido ($11.99) - this is not your typical "queso" you find in Mexican restaurants that's more reminiscent of nacho cheese sauce. This is more of a thick, stringy melted mozzarella type cheese, that comes plain or topped with chorizo and/or mushrooms. We opted for half mushroom/half chorizo. The cheese is delicious, but a bit difficult to work with. No way you can "dip" the chips into the cheese, it's almost more of a knife and fork operation (especially as the cheese cools down). Cochinita Pibil ($16.99) - The pork was not dry at all, and pretty tasty! Comes with a small amount of rice and black beans, as well as some more pickled red onion. The tortillas are corn tortillas and come in a separate warmer. My only complaint is that the tortillas seemed a bit over steamed - they were on the "wet" side, and started to fall apart as you put food in them. Chile en Nogada ($16.99) - this is kind of a different take on a chile relleno. I only tried a bite of this, and was surprised by how sweet it is. Between the pomegranate seeds, the wine sauce, and the nuts I guess I should have expected that. It also looked like there might be raisins inside. It didn't come with any other sides. DRINKS: We just ordered hot tea and coffee (nothing notable), but they do come in very cute clay cups. HOT SAUCE: The salsa that comes on the salsa platter is a mild, kind of sweet salsa. I asked if there was anything spicier, and she brought me a small dish of habanero salsa. OVERALL: It seems like the lunch and dinner menu are the same, so I would come here again, probably with a group, to try some of the bigger ticket items to share, as well as some of the drinks. I feel like it would have a more fun evening ambiance with the decor and lighting too. Note: the bone marrow appetizer ($4.99) I inquired about, and was told that it is just for one piece. read more

The meats were not seasoned enough and were missing that grill taste. Bone marrow- I literally paid for just bones. Barely any bone marrow. Birria tacos were pretty tasty.
