Our last day in the N-Y-C for the holiday and having breakfast with the Mrs. When visiting family, this is the spot for breakfast. The food is fresh, tasty and hot when it comes out. The service is ALWAYS with a smile because...well, that is just New York State hospitality. The ambiance in this place is family oriented and warm. It is fairly large and so seating is ALWAYS available and this place is always busy. Definitely a place to come and have any meal, most especially since it's close by (walking distance) from 3 hotels of choice. A high recommend for those that are visiting New York State. read more

We came by here on our way to Canada. We came here looking for a bite to eat. I yelped and came out with a few choices. We were happy with our choice. I apologize for not having any photos. We were ushered to a booth. We had the Greek salad, mango habanero chicken wing lunch special, Texas burger deluxe lunch special. All the lunch specials came with a soup. We had the chicken rice and chicken pasta soup(two of the three choices of the day) which tasted like they were made on the property. I personally do not like soup served in restaurants/diners that came from cans. All the portions were huge. Shared the Greek salad and the mango habanero chicken wings with the family so everybody had some of the different items to eat. The drinks were all free refills as this is typical in most of America just not NYC and it's suburbs. ...but true. The mango habanero chicken wings were excellent. The Greek salad and Texas burgers were good. Nothing to write home about. We had a very nice lady who was very pleasant as our waitress. She never gave us her name. Disappointing. I love diners but this was a major let down. The one good point is that it's better than the hotel breakfast so it maybe worth the walk over if you're staying next door. I opted to have the hungry man for breakfast which includes pancakes, toast, eggs, hash browns bacon and a sausage link. The eggs were obviously powered scrambled eggs, bacon was soggy and the hash browns were not fresh shredded potatoes. Pancakes were ok. Nothing to write home about. Stopped in after a 4.5 mile hike with my sister. We were greeted at the door immediately which was great because we were very hungry. The waitress was amazing and you can tell she value customer service. We ordered immediately and the appetizers came out shortly after. My sister ordered lentil soup she enjoyed it and I ordered spinach pie. Homemade taste and presentation . My main dish was blackened salmon with mashed potato and veggies. The flavor of the salmon was good. Nice coarse black pepper, juicy salmon cooked perfectly. The mash potatoes were simple and the veggies were seasoned lightly the way I like it. My sister had a turkey dinner with sweet potato fries veggies and cranberry sauce prepping for thanksgiving. She finished the entire plate. I ordered apple pie to go. Again homemade feel, low on sugar and a generous portion. Overall I would stop here again next hike because I enjoyed the food and the service. Update - Owner lied: 1) She responded blindly weeks after my review having no clue who we are 2) She is not the man who kicked my mother out so can't claim to truly know what happened 3) Mom's disability prevents her from being able to physically sit as long as they claimed and 4) Mom met her friend at D-Lux at 1, left 2:30, and was at my house 2:45 when she told me about this. She had an appt in Goshen at noon so it was physically impossible for her to be there 5 hrs. Despicable response. Review, updated - While waiting for their check the manager asked my 80 yr old disabled mother and her friend to leave the restaurant. He VERY wrongly said they'd been there 4.5 hours when they were there only 90 minutes, on account of slow service and a full meal with dessert. Mom said there were several open tables (as it was 2:15 and well past lunch prime.) Per other reviews kicking customers out seems commonplace at D-Lux; it is unconscionable to treat patrons like this, no less the elderly and/or disabled. Separately, and since this a review, both times I dined there I found it to be dirty (from floors, to seats, to tables) and the food poor quality. For folks visiting or in the nearby hotels, the behavior at D-Lux is not representative of the good people and businesses in Orange County. Please patronize a more deserving local restaurant where I've personally had many excellent experiences - In Middletown: Mason's Marketplace, Cosimos, Piccolo Cucina e Vino, Oak & Reed, Olde Erie. I've been here 3 times. I like the food. I think it's priced about right. I went in today and was the only person sitting at the bar. I had been watching a soccer match in a hotel and I asked if they could change to Chanel from softball to the soccer match. The owner or manager tried to convince me it wasn't live and he wouldn't change the channel. It was live, it was a good game, and who cares if it's softball that nobody is watching. I will spend a lot more time across town eating at the awesome microbreweries they have in town. They actually try to make the customer's experience better. nice decor, wait person friendly and competent. but just fair food and high prices, split pea soup was good, a little under seasoned. my omelet was very expensive and mediocre(peppers and onions were raw and crunchy) i ordered egg white omelet with peppers, mushrooms, onions and broccoli, no cheese no potatoes. i was charged $10 for a mushroom omelet, $1 for peppers, .75 for onion and $3 for broccoli ! (you can buy a whole head for $3 and there were maybe 3 pieces in it) so my omelet with no meat and no cheese was $15.75 they did not take money off for no potatoes. plus they charge that ridiculous cc fee that has become the new thing. so for 1 person, soup, omelet, and coffee was $24.06, would've been $25.02 with card. Stopped in for breakfast. The decor is a bit higher end than your average diner, but the way the restaurant is run is pretty dinerish. The menu is very diner like. This location has been a number of things....from Red Robin to a night club. So I am assuming the diner just kept the previous tenants decor. Our server was a little over the top with her persona. I don't ever really feel that you need to create a character to be a good server, but she was very efficient. The food was fast, and perfectly acceptable. Nothing spectacular. It pains me to say this because we are loyalists LOL... super dedicated to our local wonderful diner (who shall remain nameless) ... but we ate here one day, a short drive from home, and WOWZA. The heavenly smells that greeted us upon stepping inside left us hopeful. We were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess and seated at a large, clean table, and handed menus with many usual Diner fare choices, plus some delicious surprises. The portions were huge, enough where we had leftovers for a light late dinner (just added a salad & bread that night, BIG WIN FOR THIS MOM!) Of course my husband had to try a milkshake (as one walked by overhead on a tray earlier, he drooled a bit). Even THAT was stellar. Ended my meal with a coffee. Yup, yum! Ok where to start. The place is a restaurant that was converted into a diner right before COVID hit. They were closed for a while but opened back up when allowed. The staff has not gotten their rhythm down and moves around like a bunch of confused bees. They are friendly and professional but just have not found their groove yet. The kitchen is turning out great food. Perfectly cooked, generous portions and top notch ingredients. I will be back to see how they progress but this place has everything they need to be successful and proper management and time could take this place over the top and get them a 5 star review. read more

My family and I (a party of 5) had the unfortunate experience of dining at D Lux Dinner in Middletown, NY at 14 Crystal Run Crossing. We received horrible and seemingly racist customer service from Waitress Jessica Manning. I had never dined at D-Lux diner and it is for this reason that I will never return. I watched parties, seated well after our arrival, get served and treated with the decency of respect. I also watched as they were approached several times to ensure their meals were fine, their drinks were refilled, and most importantly, they were satisfied. When pitted against the experience of other customers within the same space and time, I am certain that my family and I were mistreated and the disrespect received by Waitress Jessica Manning was hypervisible and very intentful. We waited for a rather long time to be served our meals. In the interim, between our order and the arrival of our meals, two parties, that arrived well after us (one, a family of 3; and another, a family of 4) were served and treated. When our meal finally arrived, I asked Jessica for utensils to eat with and it was tossed at me. It was almost as if she felt this was a game of fetch and I was anything but human. The experience was dehumanizing. To get any assistance (i.e. a refile or basic customer service) I had to raise my hand and call for her attention, then wait idly for her to finally address us. Although this may seem like a common practice, it was the duration of our wait that was not. It was atypical. Again, in the interim--between my call for assistance and her arrival--she would address me with eye contact, go off to the front, serve a few more people, talk and mingle with her co-workers, stop at adjacent tables to check in on them before finally responding to our call for assistance. It seemed as if Jessica was playing a dark and seemingly twisted game with us, one that was very unfortunate as there were children present within our party to witness. This was not an experience I would suggest to anyone. As a representative of your establishment, Ms. Manning was covertly racist, disrespectful, inappropriate, and highly unprofessional. I would not recommend this diner to anyone. read more

I changed it from 3 to 4 stars: Food is better than it was when I first made the review... Their breakfast wraps (omelette in a wrap) are really good! The home fries are actually amazing!! I'm currently eating a "brunchadilla" and it's excellent.. it's a beautiful restaurant with a nice bar and it is clean. Portions are some what on the small side (when I had a breakfast skillet; I wouldn't get it again). Waiters, waitresses and bussers were pleasant each time I have been there and it's just a nice environment to be in. I'm hoping to see this place work out in this location. And I need to go for lunch/dinner/alcohol soon. Check them out, anyways. read more

I grew up in NY, so I appreciate a great diner. Since moving out of state, I can't believe the rest of the country apparently has not discovered this phenomenon!!! We were recently traveling north and stopped into the D-Lux Diner. We were not disappointed!!! Everything was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was clean fun and friendly. I'm finally writing a review of this diner because I was compelled by my WONDERFUL experience today. Our server's name was "Smiley" and she totally lived up to is. She was bubbly, attentive and of course had a great cheery smile! All of our food came out exactly as ordered , table was cleared in good time, she brought a takeout container without me having to ask. (Food was perfect and so filling I had to take half home) The best service I've ever had there was today and I'm telling you I usually get good service this was outstanding. Friendly, & attentive staff. This is definately a place to go with a large variety of food on the menu. The dinner specials are served with big portions. You will need a take home bag. The French Fries with Pulled Pork, Bacon, Cheese, & BBQ sauce on top was delicious. That alone will fill you up by itself. The Seafood Trio was decent. Stayed at the hotel across the street from diner. I placed take out order over the phone and walked over to pick up food. I ordered a pastrami breakfast sandwich .. the food quality was very good and made great. Only issue I had was the man working the register and seating people .... I looked at a case that had beautiful cheesecakes and other goodies and decided to take a picture to send my wife to see if she would like a piece of her favorite dessert cheesecake. The man started yelling at me saying No pictures No Pictures!!! I looked at him and said I want to bring my wife dessert. He said once again No Pictures ! So my food was brought out to me and I hand him my credit card .... He says to me would you like dessert? I looked at him and said No Dessert ! No Dessert!
