We could see the diner from our hotel!

Breakfast in Wallkill, New York... D-lux Diner is visible from the Mariott Hotel and Hampton Inn nearby. It's so convenient to walk over, but it's NOT a 24-hour type of place. It's just a local old-school establishment with down-to-earth service and solid food. Susan was my efficient server. She knew when I was full and offered me a takeout container. When I returned to my booth (after paying at the cash register and remembering to order Pie on Pi Day), she got me a new glass of water and told me to take my time. Thank you! The man at the cash register was helpful. When I mentioned that it was Pi Day, he said that it recently was International Women's Day - that's right! He then added that they do have pie, but it's not on the menu and the only option is apple. That's great! I'll have one! So, my first round meal was the 2-2-2 which consisted of 2 eggs, crispy bacon, and a waffle with coconut, chocolate chips, and banana slices. It was delicious! My second session was the slice of apple pie - it wasn't the best pie I'd ever had, but it satisfied the craving. Susan even added whipped cream on the top! Thanks for the photo enhancement! Overall, it was a wonderful experience! As I walked over, my calabash nephew, Tom, and his groomsmen were walking back to our hotel. I told him that his mom ditched me to get her hair and makeup done for his wedding later that afternoon. No problem. That's more important! It's not everyday that you get married on Pi Day and have a Blood Moon Solar Eclipse on top of it!

Caesar salad before main dish was good.

We didn't wait too long to be seated. Less than ten minutes wait time. Friendly wait staff. Ordered pasta with salmon. My husband ordered a western omelette. He said it was good. I enjoyed my meal as well.

A very spacious and open Diner compared to the trailer type ones for sure. Service was very friendly, talkative and quick, my sever mastered speed walking for sure how fast she moved around. Lox Benedict was good, at least the eggs were perfectly poached and runny yolks, fresh smoked salmon and thank god the heat from the eggs did not cook the salmon, since obviously lox sucks when cooked. English muffin glad it toasted just right without burnt spot. The home fries sadly sucked, undercooked and under-seasoned, but to their credit at least it was mushy mess with pepper and onions other place love flood with the potatoes.

Awesome food and service! Yankee pot roast was so tender with a nice, rich gravy. And great mashed potatoes.

Food was so-so. Menus were greasy and gross. Service was good. We are unlikely to return.

I ordered the enchiladas. They were a little sweeter than I expected, but still enjoyable overall. My husband had the Barn BLT, and he absolutely loved it. We also ordered drinks--I had the Pom-Amore cocktail, which was refreshing and delicious, and my husband had a cider. They have a huge drink menu with plenty of options, plus daily specials, which gives you a great reason to come back and try something new. I feel very mixed about writing this review!…read more First the ambiance- it's a rustic barn feel. It was fine nothing to complain about and the bathroom was clean. Next the service- it was extremely slow. Like super slow but I will say the staff was very nice and it seemed like our waitress was waiting on many tables by herself so I wasn't mad about how slow it was. But it should be noted. Now the Drinks. I truly don't know how I feel! My friend and I both ordered drinks. She ordered the Pom-Amore which is supposed to have fresh pomegranates in it and an edible flower as a garnish per the description. It had neither! She did have cranberries in it, maybe they ran out? I personally don't like that, they should have informed her they didn't have the right garnishes what if she was allergic? I had the cranberry limoncello which was supposed to have cranberries in it and it had none, hilarious I know! On top of that my glass was dirty had something caked on the inside the glass (like my straw wouldn't move it off) so they had to remake it. But it did taste very good. Lastly the food- My friend ordered the burger she said it was very greasy, I didn't try it so I'm not sure. She had the hand cut fries with it and I did try them and they were delicious! The portion of the burger and fries was huge! I got the avocado egg rolls and the Sweet Thai Wings. I wanted to hate the egg rolls because when they came out it's literally just like avocado inside, which is my own fault I assumed it was going to be more like a southwestern egg roll. However, they were delicious! It came with this spicy sauce that was so good. The only down side is that they left the avocado pit inside one of my egg rolls- I took a picture- which wasn't pleasant to bite down on. I also ordered the wings. They were good. The sweet Thai chili did not taste like Thai chili rather more like a buffalo wing so much so that I wondered if they brought out the wrong wings. I will say I got a bit of an ick because I found feathers on the wings. These are fresh butchered wings so it's understandable but also not my favorite thing to have happened. To note: I think it would have been nice because of the dirty glass for them to have offered a free dessert or something (especially since both our drinks were made wrong but to be honest we didn't tell them that they were) but that's just my personally thought for excellent customer service. Again, the waitress was extremely nice so of course I still tipped 20%!

It was around that moment, I realized I should have gone to Equilibrium. Two months later, I was again traveling through Middletown and I planned my day around visiting. The space was cool. Lots of wood. Cool large Einstein art as you approach the building. Lots of inside seating with natural light. Outside seating and smokers for BBQ. I ordered two 4 ounce pours as a way of informing my can purchases. Photon, a Pale Ale. And MC Squared, a Double IPA. Both were very good. Reminded me of the ales at some other top breweries. I decided to buy a 4 of MC Squared and I asked the person working if there was anything special that they had in cans. She recommended Mmmosa, which is a pale ale with orange flavor. I tried it and it also was very good. I didn't eat, but I note that Equilibrium really seems focused on BBQ. Something to research before you visit. 4.5 Stars
