Worst customer service even after I called and visited the establishment. I ordered on a weekend and never received my food even though I was charged. I called them the next day and they admitted that they did not deliver my food successfully and it was brought back to the restaurant. The young lady I spoke to told me she would take the charge off my card, she never did. I stopped into the store a few days later and the girl I spoke with told me she couldn't refund my money and would have to tell her manager. I was very polite and patient but never received my funds. Everybody knows you can't judge a book by its cover, and it turns out the same is true for restaurants and their names. With a cheeky handle like "D.P. Dough", I expected something a little spicy, something provocative - you know, something you can drunkenly double-fist at 1am and work off on the morning's walk of shame. But I'm sorry to say it, this place comes up short. I don't know how they did it, but these calzones are about as bland as they get. Flavorless cheese, unremarkable meat, and a meager amount of herbless sauce from a jar that turns every bite into a dry, chewy, chore. The namesake pizza dough was equally uninspiring, it's hard to believe this is the same bread recipe that spawned a restaurant chain. Granted, I make my own braided stromboli, and my standards for these sandwiches are home-made high. But I ate one of these guys while sloppy drunk, which we can all agree makes food taste extra awesome, and the flavors were still flat as a pancake and duller than dishwater. Apart from the food, things are still hit and miss. I happen to like the quirky names, but they need to commit! Why do "Twilight Zone", "End Zone", and "Time Zone", share spots on a menu with tedious titles like "Veggie" and "Cheese"? There's a decent-sized counter for sit-down customers, and their reputation with fast and hot delivery is great, though I'm not really inclined towards either of those services. But I have to admit, their recent "Free Calzone Day" combined with my empty cupboards and overdrawn bank account did lend me a certain appreciation - it was filling, and it was a very welcome free lunch. In conclusion: The target demographic here is definitely college-based and prone to bad decisions caused by binge drinking. I have to say, I'm mildly-to-moderately obsessed with calzones so I figured this place would be a huge win in my book. Unfortunately, DP Dough didn't really thrill me as much as I thought it would. I ordered the Chicken Parmazone, which has breaded chicken, mozzarella, parmesan, and marinara dipping sauce. It was probably mediocre at best. The crust was crispy but kind of thin and dry, with no seasoning. There was a lot of cheese (yay!) but not much chicken (boo!). Then the chicken that was on there was pretty dubious- I've seen more convincing fast food chicken nuggets. This didn't even look like chicken. It was white chunks with a flaky (also white) bit around the outside that I suppose was supposed to be the breaded part. On top of that, I thought the sauce was pretty weak. It was a bit runny and had almost no flavor. Delivery was respectably fast- probably 35 minutes or so after I called in, on a weekend night, even though I live kinda far away. Unfortunately, my calzone wasn't very hot when I got it and I had to reheat it some. I've heard so many people rave about DP Dough that I'm kind of surprised I really didn't like it. Came here one night a couple weeks ago. Placed order. Were told there'd be a 30 minute wait to get our food. I believe that we waited almost 45 minutes before they told us that they hadn't even started making our orders, and they gave us a refund for what we paid. Please don't make customers wait this long to receive bad news. The guy at the counter told us that they would take down our contact information and will email us to apologize and give us vouchers for food next time. Weeks later and no email. I first discovered D.P. Dough years ago, when I was dating a girl who lived at Storrs, the main campus of UCONN, and spent my weekends living rent-free in her dorm room. I ate a lot of D.P. Dough then, and I loved it, as much as I loved the other delivery option we ate all the time, Wings Over Storrs. When I left the girl (and Connecticut), I never thought to even expect to taste these things again. Well, it took awhile, but both chains both caught up to me here in Columbus (and it only took seven years!). And while my love for Wings Over is codified on electrum tablets hidden in the Fabled Vaults of D'zann, where forever the truth shall be known, D.P. Dough can not live up to my fevered remembrances. Maybe I haven't figured out the right calzone yet- because try as might, it just doesn't WOW me like it did when I was 20. Maybe I'm over the idea of a calzone bloated for bloating's sake. Maybe I realize now how far that little cup of sauce goes (not far enough). I've definitely had much worse calzones, but really, what does that mean? Calzones are like the bastard child of pizza and stromboli, and I'd rather eat either one of those on most any day of the week. Still, if I was yet a dorm rat and was spending daddy's money through my BuckID, I'd probably eat more D.P. Dough than even the president of D.P. Dough would think prudent. I drove downtown last night looking for the Freshstreet Yakitori/Double Happiness. After multiple tours on Front Street, I gave up and I never did find it. So then I started looking for someplace else to eat. El Camino was closed. Ditto Dirty Franks. Ditto Goody Boy Diner. So on my way home I passed DP Dough, which was all lit up like a beacon in the night. So I stopped and after wading through the guys on the street, I went in and ordered the house special, the Roni Zoni. Because it was the night's special it only cost me $5. How about that. Took a while to make but when I got it it was piping hot and came with a side dish of marinara sauce. So everything turned out well but I'd still like to know how to get to Freshstreet. read more

My husband woke up the next morning after eating here and said he had the sweetest dream about an all you can eat buffet of DP Doughs Calzones! They have tons of options but we opted for make your own with 5 ingedients for only $6! He got it with eggs, bacon, mushroom, onion and cheddar and said it tasted like the best breakfast he has ever eaten! My son had one with 5 meats and loved iit as well, and I had one with fresh herbs, veggies and pesto and it was also amazing! The price is great and they are made fast and fresh to order, very good calzone! read more

If you like pizza and are a normal person who isn't some ~*connoisseur*~ of the finest artisan calzones, you will probably like this. I'm not going to attempt to paint D.P. Dough into something it's not. 3 stars says A-OK and there's nothing wrong with that. D.P. Dough is nothing more than another campus delivery joint, specializing in calzones. And we're talking 20+ different calzones. Pretty much any meat, cheese and veggie combo, D.P. Dough has you covered. Though don't expect to make any sense out of the names. How does "End Zone" (my favorite) translate into Steak, Onions, Peppers, and Cheese? I don't know, and honestly I don't care. You could eat in, but the dining room is small and you would spend your meal staring at a maddening red wall. I take mine to-go, and usually wait about 5-10 minutes. While I haven't had D.P. Dough delivered, they know their audience, delivering pints of Ben & Jerry's to your door. Respect. All in all, D.P. Dough is probably too cheesy and doesn't really advertise fresh ingredients, but I'm okay with the mediocrity. read more

After an hour of waiting we called and were informed that our food was placed for pick up. They stated they would send it right away after confirming our address. Minutes later they call back and state they will not deliver because it's out of there area. It took them an hour and fifteen minutes to determine and communicate that. This would be not a problem if I was not disabled and had options 1hr and 15 minutes prior. You would think as a manager you would want to do the right thing. Since I have to talk about the food for this to be a review I will say that dough isn't just a name, it seems like its mostly dough. These things are a huge wad of dough with a scant handful of pizza fillings. The favors aren't bad, but the execution leaves something to be desired. HECK YES!!! Went to this place via Positive Word of Mouth, and I wasn't disappointed. The menu is overwhelming; there is so much to choose from. The zones were scrumptious and they were ready quickly. At $6.25/zone, it's not a bad deal especially for the size of it. The only bad thing about this place is that the menu is extremely hard to read. It's very small print...I can't imagine someone getting drunk munchies even being able to read the headers! Great Food. In college, this would have been 5 stars. Every bad day, good day, hungry day, nothing is happening and I'm so bored on this Sunday afternoon day, my roommate and I debated ordering DP Dough. It delivered to the dorms, it filled my belly, and I was happy! Then it closed (I lived in Michigan then) and my heart and belly were sad. Fast forward 4 years and I move by OSU and I am reunited with DP Dough (all of my friends are jealous)! However, growing up me feels a little confused. Sure, its an alright calzone -- but it doesn't make my heart sing! Huh... its like in high school when you listen to the radio and you think "this song gets me!" and then you turn it on now and think "man, I was lame." DP Dough - I may have outgrown you. However, sometimes I forget to make dinner and open a box of wine and need some delivery -- so I may still call you up sometime. DP Dough is pretty solid if you are looking for a late night snack. There is nothing gourmet or fancy about it. They just make good calzones, deliver and are open late. The delivery is really fast even on weekend nights. They have a wide variety of toppings and pre-made calzones choices which are pretty tasty. The one negative thing about DP Dough is that the calzones have A LOT of bread (they weren't kidding about the dough). I have always felt like my calzones could use less bread and more toppings. For a college student who is looking for a late bite to eat, DP Dough is a good choice! read more

Right on the south border of the Ohio State campus area, D.P. Dough is pretty much the quintessential college town food joint. Open late (until 4 a.m.). Delivers. Cheap. No frills. A lot to like, really. I stopped by on my way home late from work last May. To be honest, the calzones are pretty tasty. Nothing out of the ordinary, but the stuffing inside -- cheese, tomato, whatever else you put in -- makes it pretty rich. But the outer bread is, well, probably too crunchy for my liking. PLEASE DONT ORDER FROM THIS RESTURANT, THEY USE FAKE CHEESE!!!! Found out last night that they use artificial cheese in the calzones. Took a bite put of my big hot pig and realized the cheese was chewy and rubbery. I usually order food from them but its almost impossible to mess up cheese and somehow they cant even do that right. Im not sure if they just hired all new staff or what but both the sandwhiches i ordered were gross and had fake cheese. Im never gona buy food from this garbage resturant again cus i mean, come on now. Artificial cheese that doesnt melt and is chewy is just another example of a company cutting corners to save pennies. They are not the greatest. They would mess up orders all the time or not even deliver them to me. I would go to pick them up, they would not be ready. I love the Maui Wowie so so so much. Not enough dipping sauce and really, having to call 3 or 4 times to get an order placed and then still not getting it, and getting alousy email apology is not the way to keep customers. Completely incompetent staff. Ordered food through UberEats, and they gave the driver incorrect food. When I contacted the restaurant they told me they had my food and that they were requesting another delivery. 30 mutes later again with no food I called back just to be told that the driver did not come and that they were sending one of their drivers. Another 30 minuets goes by and I am told now that they were not bringing it because uber was refunding the order. Contacting a customer would be nice , especially when you made the mistake and not the delivery service. What a joke! read more

A bit more expensive than I anticipated. No room for seating, a take-and-go-find-a-curb-to-sit-on-and-eat kind of place. Many varieties of sauce and meat based "dough" gives you much to chose from. However, in the end, it's an expensive slice of mediocre-tasting, fattier pizza. I've been pondering what to yelp about since I went to DP Dough this past weekend and what I've come up with is.....It's OK. It's your typical pizza place just folded over with the sauce on the side. The best selling point on DP Dough is the price. $6.75 for a Calzone that will fill ya up isn't bad. They have some interesting combos of ingredients. I'll most likely try some different Calzones but it won't be anything that I will crave. read more

Ok I get this is supposed to be drunk food but even by such low standards this is not good. I will need to drink much more then I think is possible before this will be worth eating. So not soon after it opened, I ordered some delivery from them. The food that showed up at my doorstep was mediocre at best. I'd rather eat just about anywhere else. You know what? I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the calzones we ordered the other night. We tried the Red Zone (delicious buffalo chicken!) and the Speed Zone (chicken, spinach, etc) and really liked both. I'd been under the impression from friends and others that this place is only good when you're thoroughly intoxicated, but I think they may be wrong. Both of our zones were pretty darn tasty even though we were stone sober. One of the best things abou this place: They are open and deliver late!
