We used to live about a block away and discovered it on a random try. The only thing I've ever ordered is the bibimbap. I never had it before going to Da Rae, but since then have become a fan! In order to get it hot, you must dine-in, there is no hot bibimbap when ordering to go. =( Which make sense since they serve it on a searing hot platter. My daughter and I were the only non-Asians in here, so I'm guessing it's pretty authentic, although it's hard for me to say, not being a huge fan of Korean food in the past, beyond the Korean short ribs, which are the bomb. They were good here, maybe a bit on the fatty side for the normal American palate, but I liked them. The other dishes we tried were a hot pot of soup, tofu with seafood and kimchi fried rice. I didn't care for the fried rice that much, but this was probably personal taste and not an indication of the quality of the dish. It wasn't bad, mind you, it just wasn't my taste. The soup was tasty, but a bit unusual, and I will say this, the portions were big, and there were a lot of little side dishes of veggies, so we had plenty to eat. I am a huge fan of Thai, after that I love Japanese and Chinese food very much, I think Korean food is a bit edgy for most Americans, so that's probably why it's not as popular. If you like traditional Korean food, this place will probably really be something you'd like, everyone there seemed to be enjoying their food and it was crowded. Oh, the staff was super friendly, our server was super nice and very attentive and that goes a long way to feeling welcomed somewhere new. All and all, my daughter really liked it so we'll probably be back sometime to try some new dishes. We had dinner at a Korean place in SF last year, I think I wrote a review for that place, I can't remember. This place is so bomb I've probably eaten everything on their menu. It's extremely family friendly although the venue is a bit small. The prices are extremely decent and appropriate for their portions. I love the side dishes and the appetizers that they serve before you get your actual entree. I also love how they use organic ingredients and no MSG! It makes my stomach and conscience happy!! The korean bbq and tofu here are mediocre at best and they use A LOT of msg in their food. You can tell because they actually leave msg on the table in place of salt! Korean food just like my mom makes.... is what I would say if my mother actually cooked Korean food. I found this place on yelp and I'm glad I did. Small location in a strip mall. I called ahead and placed my order - ddukboki (spicy rice cakes), spicy marinated grilled chicken, and japchae (glass noodles with veggies and beef.) Everything was perfectly spicy and seasoned well. It came with the usual accoutrement that Korean restaurants have - kimchi, radish kimchi, green onion pancake, and a dish I was unsure of - I think it was shrimp heads with peppers. I kind of wish the meal came with soup too. I was able to place the phone order in English, but I was spoken to in Korean at the restaurant. Luckily, my sparse knowledge of the motherland's language was enough to get me through paying the bill. Ahjummas, I'll be returning soon! read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. The food isn't particularly great, but in terms of Korean food in the Placentia area, this is probably the best. It is at the least "healthy". When we asked a waitress if there was sugar used in the chicken, she wasn't sure but said probably not.... It was quite sweet, there's no way you don't know unless you don't try your food. Servers should know because people like me could be diabetic. Especially when you sell your restaurant off as one that is focused on health. The service here is a toss up really. I've come in once where the place was full, but not like crazy lines outside, and they said a to-go order would take 45 minutes. Shocked, I left for the neighboring restaurant Honda Ya instead. Most other times I'm often nicely greeted in Korean (which I do not speak) with a smile. Easy parking, decent food, decent prices. I am just happy to have a Korean place nearby, there are better places if you're in the Fullerton side though. read more

This place is really over-rated. We went there for a dinner but no one came seat us or gave us a menu. It was a family owned business, I guess, so they are so short of people working? Seats are cramped. My octopus hot stone rice was just alright, I have tried better. Side dishes are just average, not many varieties. Atmosphere makes me feel like I was eating in at average Chinese restaurant, not worth pay the price for that kind of environment and the quality of food and service. They were one of the few places open on Memorial day and we were craving korean. I'm glad we went because the food was tasty and satisfied our cravings! We ordered a variety of items like bbq chicken, pork bulgogi, tofu soups, pork cutlets. So we didn't go too adventurous with our meal, but the menu had a bunch of different options we will try next time. There are signs that say they use organic food only, as well as that alkali water that is supposed to be better for you. The place is a bit hidden in the Plaza, as it's in the same Plaza as target but in a row of businesses bordering Yorba Linda. I went at a lunch hour and was surprised that they didn't have lunch specials. Got tofu soup (soondooboo) combo with bulgogi and ddukbokgi. Their ddukbokgi was good but their soondooboo lacked flavor. It felt like the soup base became too salty and they just added more water to make it less salty. But it could've been their off-day. Bulgogi was good and had good portion considering it was a combo. Their side dishes were good and service was great. I'll definitely try them again but try other entrees. read more

I give them FVIE stars!! Great Korean food without MSG and with some organic ingredients. I moved to San Diego few wks go but had to be in Anaheim picking up my bro. I am Korean and lived in LA 24 yrs. My bro and I love traditional Korean food. We ordered spicy rice cakes, fish intestine stew(the BEST!!), Kimchi ribs and the rest of usual side dishes with rice. Their side dishes were nice also. Rice cakes were yummy but the fish intestine stew my brother said he'd drive up from San Diego just for that! It's been 2 wks and I am still thinking about the stew and the spicy rice cakes! The owners and servers were super friendly and nice. Portions were perfectly sized slightly on the large side which is what we expected. I love that they use alkaline water and organic produce for their cooking!! NO MSG and still seasoned to my expectation. I love the place. Their menu is diverse and I like that it's not a huge place but a local friendly joint. Was looking for KBBQ on yelp but ended up here somehow. Despite not satisfying my craving for this Korean BBQ that everyone has been raving about, I was not disappointed for I got the chance to be introduced to some new Korean flavor. I came in just before closing and stayed about 40 minutes after but that didn't affect the customer service at all. I knew this place was authentic and legit asian food by the aluminum chopsticks, something i've never seen, and the local Korean TV channel on the LED TV. Off the bat I ordered the dumplings. Then I spotted Octopus on the menu, being a fan of this delicious creature, i went ahead and tried the 'Bibimbap'. This was a skillet type dish that came out still steamy with the spicy red sauce that covered the sliced octopus still boiling. What fascinated me the most was all the bonus sides they brought out. It was almost a bit overwhelming. A lot of it all new to me with the exception of the cucumbers doused in lemon and chili powder, and the spinach soup. Tofu, other greens and veggies I wasn't 100% familiar with as well, albeit still very pleasing to the tongue. I apologize for sounding like such a Korean cuisine noob and not knowing the names of the side dishes. The dumplings are the perfect appetizer. Best way to describe them is to compare them to an empanada or a small beef taco, or even fried egg rolls depending on what's inside. Then the fun really started when the bibimbap came out. Everything on the skillet was steamy, aside from the octopus there was steamed white rice under assorted veggies and greens with a neatly pan fried egg to top it off. There was such a plethora of flavor in front of me, it was definitely an experience. To put the cherry on top the waitress brought out a complimentary dessert type beverage served chilled in an aluminum cup, which was a lot like horchata, with rice still at the bottom! I really have to say that my favorite thing about discovering new foods is the connections and similarities I find between different cuisines. read more

For a Korean restaurant in this area isn't not bad. It is a tad overpriced for what you get and the portion sizes on the meat is towards the smaller side. But with the alternative of having to drive further (up north Rowland Heights or south towards Irvine) it's a good trade off. I had the LA Galbi Combo and it was really tasty. I went after the lunch hour and there where only a few tables being served. The service was surprisingly slow since it wasn't busy. There was only one waitress.
