I can't believe I had not reviewed in past, Dawaat is my go-to for a casual downtown Indian resteraunt that is comfortable seating with a small bar. Always Fantastic food here as well as the past service. What is also pretty great is they are more than just Indian Food, they have other fab middle eastern dishes and sides as well, like babah ganoush, hummus dips and so much more, check out the full menu as there is something for everyone which can work well if dining with a party not wanting curry. This review, however is dated for during COVID take out orders. Take Out delivery by uber eats. The food arrived caringly packaged with plastic wrap around the containers of Tikka Masla and man...that sauce, oh my, if you order Med Hot it is truly perfect spice level! We also enjoyed the Saag and an order of the Mixed grill platter which also came packaged in a cute t.v. dinner with all the sides and various meats. The naan is huge and ya only need one order, always good with just a lil char on the right edges, mm. If you order the Spinach naan you are in for a heavy tasty naan, almost can be lil spinich sandwich for you! So you will not need saag that time, order chanda masala instead. For one couple we sually order 2 mains, one side and one naan and have food for days! The Garlic Naan is great too. Thanks to Gurjinder, my Lyft driver from Dearborn street to the Pine Street, I ended going to this restaurant for lunch. The foods were of decent quantity, servers were attentive, and the taste was decent. I dont know if they messed up the spice level or my spice tolerance has gone up cause what I ate wasn't exactly hot in my honest opinion but nonetheless every basic thing they did it right and more. My friend and I arrived around 6:30/7 on a Thursday and were seated immediately, as the medium-sized space was mostly empty. For drinks we just stuck with water and decided to order the Plain Naan ($4) to share. Note that the "plain" naan is lightly brushed with butter/ghee and sprinkled with parsley. The first slice was delicious! I hand't had naan in a longg time and the warm, tender bread made my mouth water. Once it starts to cool it's not quite as fantastic (although still good), so eat up fast! One order is the right amount for two people... we overeagerly requested two orders and needless to say, I had leftovers. The naan does reheat pretty well wrapped in foil in a 250 degree oven, if your eyes are bigger than your stomach as well. For entrees I went with the Aloo Gobi ($14.50) since I've enjoyed this dish elsewhere, and it's vegan. Aloo Gobi includes potatoes and cauliflower sauteed with onions and fresh herbs. While the spices/flavor were decent I was disappointed to find that at least half of the dish consisted of onions. It was more like onions with a side of potatoes and cauliflower. Onions are hard on my stomach so I ate around those and dipped my naan in the spiced oil--I went with "medium" spice which is more like mild so keep that in mind while ordering. My dish came with a generous portion of basmati rice, which was fairly standard in taste. I gorged myself on naan and was quite full, so I took home half the rice as leftovers. I also had a few bites of either the Mediterranean Salad ($6.99) or the Greek Salad ($7.99). The salad was a sizable portion, as well as fresh. The ambiance is a bit uninspired, service was decent. I wouldn't necessarily choose to come back as there are plenty of other Indian restaurants to try in the Seattle area, although if a friend/family member wanted to come I could enjoy more naan along with a different plant-based entree. read more

Daawat grill is a mainstream (by US standards) Indian restaurant in downtown Seattle. It is located in the core of downtown, very convenient for the Paramount Theatre and ACT Theatre. The menu is broad, covering the usual range of Indian dishes, spice levels and appetizers. There is also a very small range of non-Indian dishes. Prices are pretty reasonable given the downtown location, but not cheap. Food quality is good, but not amazing. We come here pretty often because of the proximity to theatre locations and always enjoy the food, but we never think of coming here when we just want to have Indian food. Service has always been good, although there is a slightly downstairs table that we find has less good service whenever we are sat there. On our most recent visit we had a good experience again, but also a very negative moment when one of our party arrived about 1/2 hour late and asked for a menu to order and the server refused by just making a face and shaking his head. Overall, this is the best indian place in the downtown core, but there are much better options only a little further out. Recommended. read more

We ate here for an early dinner with our one-year-old last night and I cannot say enough nice things! We were welcomed in, seated quickly, and had warm and welcoming service. They went above and beyond to make our baby happy and welcome as well, bringing her a little water cup and always waving back when she waved. The food was quite good. I ordered lots of naan and Chana Masala, which were very tasty. The atmosphere was calming as well, which is nice. In general it was good food, outstanding service, and inviting atmosphere. Good location downtown. It was clean and the service was friendly. Food was good but not the best I've ever had. Portions were average and could have used more rice. Overall, a good solid meal. I had the madras masala with lamb. It was very tender and tasty. I ordered it medium hot but I would say that it was less than traditional medium. Didn't feel any tingle or burn at all. If you like it spicy, I'd order hot or "5". Their garlic naan was large and three pieces was plenty for five of us. They also gave a complimentary mango cheese cake to share which was amazing. This place did not disappoint! Visiting from California, the price point seemed right, maybe even a couple dollars cheaper than what we usually pay. However, we were surprisingly impressed with the portions and quality of the food. Each dish had the perfect amount of spice and great flavors overall. We ate all we could and still had leftovers! The only downfall was that we waited quite a while to receive our check and boxes. We had to waive down our server. We ordered the paneer naan and garlic naan, both of which were delicious when dipped in their curry. Also, they're huge! Had to go with the chicken tikka cause that's what I'm familiar with and it was delicious! If you're looking for something a little different, go for the mango curry. I had the most disappointing experience with this place. We ordered delivery and the food was probably the worst Indian food I have ever had in the Pacific Northwest! The shahi korma with paneer tasted like stale rubbery blocks of paneer in mildly seasoned water. The bits of veggies in the so-called gravy were raw and I could feel them crunching in my mouth. I basically spat the food out. The other entree we ordered was the chicken tikka masala which was atleast edible but extremely average. Never ordering from this place again. When I found out there was a Indian Grill a block away from my condo, I was estatic! Whenever I stay in Seattle, I have to indulge in Indian food as we have limited choices in my own town. It was easy to order my food online via my phone & pick it up in 20 min. Since I was shopping at Nordstrom Rack, I could swing by the restaurant before going back to my condo. I wish i remember to take photos! We were in Seattle from Boston and on a fluke ended up here. Neither of us having really any indian food experience (other than i dont like curry) but since this placed seemed to be the only place open near our hotel at 9pm we were willing to give it a try. I can not safe enough nice things about the staff. They could clearly read that we were struggling with the menu and approached us with such a warm smile & delightful tone and said "Let me Help". From there it was smooth sailing. We ordered 2 different chicken dishes and an mixed appetizer of baba ganoush /pita / hummus & 2 mixed drinks they also helped us pick out. We were so pleased with our experience. Everything was fresh and so delicious . The place was adorable, the staff worked really well together (thats a huge thing to me) and so friendly. We are from Yuba City CA where we have a huge Sikh population. The Nagar Kirtan parade is one of the largest outside of Asia. Amazing and tasty Indian food! I recently got the chicken tikka masala for take out and it was very flavorful. I got the mild spice level which was actually pretty spicy when compared to other Indian places, but it was well worth it. The extra spice complimented the entire dish and made it that much more enjoyable. In addition, the amount of chicken was kind of crazy. Chicken tikka masala is my go to when I eat Indian, so when I say there was a lot of chicken, there was a lot. They also give you a good amount of rice which I really appreciate cause too many times do they give you too little rice for the amount of curry. Great location for a meal before catching a concert, with great food to boot! I forgot exactly what we ordered (the dishes are shown in the pictures), but I was blown away by the portion size! Honestly, I don't have high hopes for quantity when it comes to restaurants in Downtown Seattle, so you can imagine my surprise when my friend and I couldn't even finish the two entrees we ordered. And on top of that, they gave us a complementary cheesecake! I'm not sure how often they give out these complementary desserts, or why we even received one to be honest, but I'll take it.
