2nd trip here. Food is very bland. Subpar to say the least. Brisket was overcooked which looked as though additional uncooked fat was added last minute to try and moisten up the meat. Ribs were extremely dry with a very small amount of meat on the bone. The ribs also were small as if they were the last two ribs left in the rack. All of the sides ordered were subpar to be nice with the exception of the Banana Pudding and Collard Greens (Pudding was amazing, greens good.). I would highly recommend staying away from this restaurant. I ordered almost every meat on the menu during this last visit (1/4 lb of brisket, 2 ribs, 1/4 lb of eastern bbq, and almost every side.) The Waitstaff is nice which may be a portion of why the rating for this restaurant is so high. That being said, I do not understand how it has a high rating as the food is honestly worse than what you can make at home by yourself. Save your money and go to a different place. Service was on point! Two tag teamed and we were never without anything! They were so friendly and accommodating to me (foot in a boot, so I was awkwardly trying to do things). First option was the meat platter, the sausage was by far the best that I have EVER tasted, and I mean EVER, chicken was good, and the brisket had a great smoke! Service- super friendly. There was a nice bbq sauce offering at each table. Sweet sauce was good. Beef brisket- pretty yummy. Smokey flavor, some tasty char on it. Not dry but not super moist. If you want local beef brisket fix, this will work. Hush puppies- not so great. I got smaller pieces rather than plump pieces. Hog Heaven bbq in Durham beats them hands down on this item. Mac & Cheese- soupy consistency. Not a cheddar cheesy flavor. Nothing special at all. Will skip. Banana pudding- it was ok. I would say third place behind jimmys famous hotdogs and hog heaven ( both in Durham). I was not crazy about the cookie crumble style. I prefer whole wafers that have absorbed the pudding surrounding it. If you are going to have a meal, all parts should be great, not so so. read more

When we walked in we didn't think they had table service but were pleasantly surprised that they did. We got the fried green tomatoes which were really good but super duper hot. I'll admit I have had them before not down south and they didn't have the cornmeal coating and these did. I wasn't a huge fan of the cornmeal coating but they were tasty and the dipping sauce was good as well. The food came out really quickly and everything was excellent. I had ribs with baked beans and mac and cheese and loves both of my sides. My husband had ribs and the bbq coleslaw and mac and cheese and he said everything was good as well. Someone suggested to cut the sweet tea with half unsweet and that was a great suggestion as it was still plenty sweet and that's coming from someone who likes my tea and coffee sweet. So I'm just passing that info along. All in all we'll be back often since everything was fresh and tasty and served quickly. Just finished my pulled pork plate with 2 sides. Pork was good- very good smoky flavor and very nice size portion... Got it with 2 sides... the baked beans are fantastic... some of the best ive had- they are not super sweet- have a good vinegar hit and have i believe some brisket in them and its amazing- the mac and cheese I would skip next time- Semi dry and not cheesy enough and not much flavor- will try and different side next time. Got both the eastern and the sweet sauce to try- both were great. I also liked the hush puppies that came with. They were fresh and not rubbery at all. Overall a good spot for bbq... The pulled pig is delicious. You can taste the smoke flavor. Their green beans remind me of the ones my grandmother used to make. The seasoning is perfect. I also love their fried okra. I have not found a better place for pulled pork than Daddy D's. The hush puppies are also delicious. I just wish they were a little bigger. The portion sizes are just right for me. DADDY D's Barbecue is fabulous comfort food with something every member of the family will enjoy. The beef brisket and pulled pork barbecue are both excellent. There are sauces for every pallet taste preference. There is an abundance of options for tasty side dishes. My family loves the halapeno & cheese corn fritters. The Brunswick stew is excellent! It reminds me of NC Church stew from my youth. We eat here often and Doordash is also an option. This is a hidden Gem in Fuquay-Varina. Their deserts are very good as well but they run out quickly. I apologize to Daddy D's for the star off. You did nothing wrong, but I am well versed in BBQ at this point, and I am going to pick every little nit I can when I'm south of the Mason-Dixon. If you read this, here's what to change and what to keep. Sauce: 5. Keep. The hot had a nice kick to it and I appreciate having enough sauce to drown my meat in while everyone else still had plenty for themselves. Very well done. Mac: 3.5. The noodles were al dente ish, which is fine for pasta but doesn't work for down-home mac. You want it all to squish together just right. Also, the cheese sauce was too refined. Make it creamier, thicker, cheesier. Give it some body so it doesn't taste like cheese-washed noodles. BBQ is supposed to be about the glory of decadence! Cole slaw: 4. It's cole slaw. It's fine. I think 5 star cole slaw is distinguished by a depth of flavor that wasn't here. Maybe, I think, an egg base in there? I don't know how to fix this, only that I've had better (not that this was bad). Beans: 5. Plenty of pork and not too much sauce makes these beans a hearty accompaniment that I will gladly have again and again. Heck, they can be a meal by themselves. Brisket: 3.75. Brisket's tough to earn 5 stars. It's gotta be really low and slow to pull apart without a knife. This did not. Flavor was good, maybe a bit fatty but not obscenely so, but just give it the red carpet treatment for another few hours next time. Pork: 4.5. Some of it was a little burnt, but most of it was appropriately moist and pulled apart into chunks. Not quite tender enough for strands, but I'm not sure that strands are preferable to chunks here. Well flavored, a hit around the table, so I'm only docking for the burnt edges. (I like burnt ends on my beef more than my pork.) Banana pudding: 3. Automatic 1 star deduction for using Cool Whip and a second deduction for mixing it in. I know that's fairly typical in the South, but I don't like that fake stuff. The best banana pudding does not have it mixed in. If you want to top it, I can remove the topping and I'll give you the 4th star back. If you've got real whipped cream, you can earn the 5th star. It wasn't the BEST BANANA PUDDING EVER but I'd have liked it a whole lot more without that presentation. I'm just one guy. You don't have to listen to me. I see plenty of other 5 star reviews here and I'm not a local. Just gonna speak my mind and see if anyone catches my vibe over there for next time. read more

This was spot was just okay. You really need the barbecue sauce for flavor. The sausage link was the best, nice and spicy. I'm from Louisiana so I can appreciate the barbecue sauce not being vinegar based. Due to our order being delivered the okra and fries were kind of soggy from the sweat of the containers and needed salt. The Mac & Cheese was standard take out flavor, it didn't really scream southern homemade. The hush puppies I enjoyed nice balance of salt and sweet. I think the food might be better with a dine in or carry out experience. Post COVID-19 we can try again. We're new to this area so trying to find "our spots" until then we'll have to try a few BBQ places or subject ourselves to a drive to go to our old spot. read more

We had a forgotten item, a few things we enjoyed, and some dry meat We ordered a rib plate, with beans and fries. They forgot the baked beans...so that was a downer. The French fries were so good. Thin and flavorful. The ribs were dry and very chewy, they didn't have much flavor. The 2 meat combo - we got brisket, ribs and coleslaw and Mac and cheese. The ribs were the same...disappointing. The brisket was OK. It was also very dry. The slaw and the Mac were good. The hush puppies were so good tho. Lastly, we had to order the banana pudding. 12/10. Ordered takeout from the restaurant tonight. I drive past this place frequently and decided to try it out. The brisket and pulled pork were very good as were the sides. The ribs were below average as they were dry and barely any rub on them. I was disappointed with the service. I went in around 5:45 and ordered 2 plates and 1/2 rack of ribs to go. I paid approx $44 ($40 for food $4 tip for takeout). The girl said about 10 minutes. No problem. I sat there for approx 20 min before asking someone if my food was close. He asked for my name and the food had been sitting on counter for over 10 minutes as they do not call out names of orders when ready which is odd. Overall the food was above average just a bit disappointed with the service. Call out names or numbers when orders are ready. Will probably give it another try sometime. read more

Wildly expensive, inconsistent quality, lack of detail (when I spent $20, don't send me FOUR tip of the pinky sized hush puppies as an afterthought. Not going back. Cannot count on consistent quality control. Avoid this place unless you are okay with undercooked food, exorbitant pricing for the value received, and given a child's portion of hush puppies. read more
