Omg. Can not believe I forgot to review this place. My husband and I stopped here after fishing at Shearon Harris and man we are glad we did (we've visited several times since). Our first time here my husband got a "Mac daddy" and I got a pulled pork sandwich with collards. My sandwich was the best pulled pork I've ever had. The collards were awesome, and my husband was in some sort of catatonic state after eating his sandwich lol. The waitress was very friendly and helpful and kept the drinks refilled- their sweet tea was also great! We ended the meal with banana pudding and PLEASE don't miss out on that! Daddy Ds why did it take me so long to check you out? Especially when you're practically in my back yard. I've been intending to write this review for a month but I had to let you know about this gem. First let me tell you how immaculate the place is inside! Second, Chris the owner is a sweetheart. He offered to give me a generous sample of the sliced brisket before buying. It was like butta! Then I got a serving of the burnt ends which they dont have everyday. Another BIG winner! I wish I would have taken a picture! I'm use to Texas style bbq and i was very please with the Brisket Sandwich was delicious! It didn't even need the bbq sauce I put on it. The meat was tender and had great seasoning. I also had the Mac n Cheese and it was so creamy, a little rich but I didn't mind it at all, What's Mac without the cheese?! After heading home from Raleigh, decided on a stop for a late lunch, luckily pulled off 40 in Benson and Yelp found us Daddy's D's. Don't be fooled in to thinking this is cheap fast food, this is reasonably priced very good food served by an excellent staff. Walking in you know this place is different by the immediate warm greeting walking in. Our server for the meal was Alisha J, who took the time to explain the uniquely cooked (and smoked) meatloaf dinner my wife ordered. Alisha wanted to make sure my wife knew up front that this was not your basic meatloaf with a ketchup topping (best to make sure your customers know what their getting), after describing it, my wife definitely wanted the smoked meatloaf. This was a great choice, right level of jalapeno flavor without alot of heat and then melted cheese on top. Wife wants to come back again for the meatloaf, I'll come back again for anything, as everything is homemade. The sides are special. We did have a slight mix up in the ordering of my sides, but Alisha fixed it without any delay. Again, easy to say that if we lived here or nearby, would be regulars. read more

I was a big fan of Daddy D''s BBQ. I usually visitEd the restaurant about 8 to 10 times a month. Primarily because the food was very good but the customer service was excellent. However, that all changed on Monday afternoon July 14th. I drove up to the drive thru window to place my order (as I've done many times) and the young lady who attended me didn't greet me with a welcome/hello nor ask to take my order; but she lead by saying "the drive thru is not for ordering but for pick up only. But because no one is behind you, I will take your order this one time". Wow are you kidding me? When did the rules change? As I just used the drive thru the Saturday before as well as watched countless others do the same previously. Customer service is huge for me and it's just mind blowing that during these times that any restaurant employee would display such poor behavior and judgement. Good start for a new BBQ place in town. The restaurant is in a strip mall and makes good use of the space. The lighting needs work - big florescent lights take away from the decor. The service is fast and friendly. It was busy but not crowded on a Friday night but the server made sure make several rounds to check on drinks and the meal. I ordered the pulled pork and ribs with baked beans and fries. The meal is served with plastic forks and. Styrofoam cups. Hopefully it doesn't stay that way. The fries were lumped and stuck together and a little soggy. The beans were homemade and had pulled pork in them. The were sweeter than most but lacked other flavors. The pork was good. There was a good portion. It was a little dry but there are four sauces that help bring out the flavor of the meat without overpowering the taste. The ribs were phenomenal. Succulent meat that was well seasoned and smoked. Just a dash of the sweet sauce really made the ribs the best part of the meal. Hopefully they get a license to serve alcohol - a cold beer would have been awesome with dinner. The price for the meal was fair. Overall I would go back for the ribs and maybe try some other meats. They have the basics for a successful new place in FVNC. I hope they work on some of the finer points to get there. read more

I recently tried out Daddy D's BBQ and really enjoyed it. I ordered the pulled pork, brisket, a couple sides, and the banana pudding. I thought that the food and portions were as to be expected. Price was also fair.. The BBQ had really good flavor, so did the Mac and Cheese (one of the sides, the other side was potato salad) Ate the banana pudding the next day, yum! Be patient. Daddy D's BBQ recently opened and they are still working out the kinks so service is on the slower side. We grabbed seats at the bar and ordered food to go. Plate #1 consisted of pulled pork with mac & cheese and baked beans and plate #2 was sliced beef brisket with boiled potatoes and green beans. We got an additional side of cole slaw too. All of the plates are served with two sides and hushpuppies. It was quite the wait for our food but the staff were great and checked in periodically to ensure we were doing okay. Once we got our food we took the party down to TapLine Growler to enjoy. The food itself was okay but the portions were the perfect size. The brisket was dry and the pulled pork had an okay flavor. I forgot to grab a side of sauce before I left unfortunately. The sides were good, the only ones I did not care for were the slaw and mac & cheese. I did not like the texture or flavor of the slaw and the mac & cheese was bland and not cheesy. I'm curious to see how they improve after a month or two of being open. read more

Aok I guess. Brunswick stew was spot on. Hush puppies are more like tempura than corn meal. Chopped pork is very very smoky and on the dry side. Wings were tiny and super dry. These are my thoughts and observations. - The atmosphere has that local vibe I enjoy. - Our waitress was attentive. - We waited 10 minutes for our order. - My food was bland. I thought everything was great. We had a party of 6 and everyone was happy with their food. I liked the variety of sauces. My friend got the banana pudding and said it was the best she's had. I had the chopped chicken sandwich and it was very good. They were accommodating to special requests too. There wasn't an eastern barbecue option on the menu for one of the items but they made the substitution. For a new place it's good but not great. There are def kinks that will be worked out after being opened a little longer. And it's def not your full on nc style bbq joint- which isn't a bad thing at all bc I don't think there are a ton a places to get brisket in the triangle. The pros: Didn't wait long for a table for a new place that's busy on a Friday night. Service was very attentive and let us know up front that food might take a while, but it came out in less than 25 min so for a new place that busy I'd say that isn't bad. The hush puppies look homemade and were great! The oks: The pulled pork was a lil dry but the eastern sauce I put on it wasn't that bad- maybe a touch too vinagery. The eastern chopped bbq didn't have a ton of flavor so more sauce needed to be added. The Mac n cheese was better than the other reviews made it seem, but there is def room for improvement. The bbq boiled potatoes aren't what we thought they'd be- not bad but the tomato base threw us off. The cons: The baked beans were tomato based? Didn't care for them at all. The slaw was not to my taste, but I don't like mine made with that much mayo. And finally even though the service was great, after having our food for around 10-15 min, and we were clearly still in the middle of eating, we were asked if we wanted togo boxes and dessert and told they would be right back with the check. Again I get that they were busy, but if it takes 25 min to get my food I'd like to not feel rushed once it's finally there to enjoy. As a lifelong Texan, I kind of rolled my eyes when I saw another out of state BBQ joint was trying to pull off smoked brisket. But... since bad BBQ is still good, I ordered two pounds, sliced, to go with lots of the spicy sauce. With a great deal of skepticism, I opened one of the boxes, and that's when I heard the angel voices. Light shone down from Heaven. It was as if the Lord above wanted me to have a true taste of home... As I dumped the little containers of sauce all over the tender, smoke-kissed slices, I felt embraced like I was in my mother's own loving arms. Stamp this BBQ joint "Texan Approved." This local bbq place is absolutely delightful. The ambience is very mod-rustic and the place is very clean. I absolutely love their chicken wings with sweet heat sauce, mac and cheese, baked beans, banana pudding. Their ribs are fall off the bones and their pulled pork is great too. OMG!!! Color me fat, happy, and full! I tried this place because I love BBQ and needed a fix. The brisket was delicious and the sweet sauce was really good. Baked beans and boiled potatoes were nice sides with just the right amount of spice. I thought I had died and gone to heaven until I tried the caramel apple cobbler, then I knew it was true!
