Stopped by a few weeks ago to have breakfast with my brother who is a local. We were going to order off the menu when we were told the owner just got a new smoker and we should try the brisket. He was proud of the outcome and recommended it either as a breakfast with eggs and hash browns or lunch or dinner plate. Wow, this was absolutely off the top or broke da mouth :o). Great food! Classic diner brunch menu. I had the pancake plate with bacon and scrambled eggs. The bacon was cooked crispy, like I like it, and my scrambled eggs were good (not too buttery, not runny). The pancakes were tasty and tasted homemade. The service was phenomenal, the food came out fast even though they were super busy, and ALL the food we had was uh-mazing! Below average. The popular broasted chicken was extremely crispy and seasoned well + our waitress was very sweet. Thankfully we read reviews before visiting and knew to swap the frozen waffles for pancakes and French toast. (Even bottom of the barrel Waffle House uses waffle batter so I don't understand the defense there). Anyway...all of the dishes came out one by one as if they were piping hot and fresh to order but they weren't... everything arrived luke warm at best and we were kind of over eating hash browns alone, then bacon alone, etc. Bathrooms were out of service. They poured our (luke warm) coffee and instructed us to get up and walk to the communal table for further refills throughout the meal. When we left, the chicken and other food items were sitting under a heat lamp which caused further confusion about the one by one style of food service. This is my first time writing a negative review as I am one to always post positively but this place and its owners deserve nothing more then 0 stars! I have never in my life been treated more poorly then I was by the owners of Daddy O's. I have one year old twin boys and it is hard to get out and enjoy ourselves but with friends in town we made the trip to Daddy O's. Not only were they rude about me having children with me but they were even more rude we were requesting two high chairs. We were more then willing to wait and that is what we did... for an hour (With tables available)! They skipped over us numerous times as they proceeded to tell us how inconvenient our party of 3 adults and two high chairs were. We patiently waited without a fuss. When we were finally sat, the owners would hardly talk to us or even serve us. I am still unsure as to why as we only asked for two highchairs and then patiently waited. After almost having our waters through at us they told us the highchairs were in the way and needed to be moved. When we were unable to move them anymore due to space the server/owner became very angry and provided us with even worse service and would not speak to us AT ALL. As I am writing this I am still in shock. We waited for another hour for our food again without a fuss from us adults or my children. (Not to mention my babies had not had breakfast yet) When our food finally arrived not only was it horrible but it was cold. I feel as this was most defiantly done on purpose. Not only am I saddened to see the way people treat you for having children let alone twins but this was the first impression our friends got of our amazing island of Kauai! With that being said I will never return and I hope anyone reading this thinks twice as we have amazing restaurants and people on this island and there is no need to be treated so poorly. read more

Dieters be forewarned...this place is NOT for you because you will want to order everything; the food is so good!! I planned on getting a waffle and my husband was going to get a sandwich. We ended up getting stuffed shrimp eggs benedict (wow), stuffed French toast (dreamy), a waffle (yum) and one of the best pieces of crispy fried chicken (shout out for using dark meat!). We were so happy with everything we oordered that we shared it with a couple of nice ladies at the table next to us.. it was that good and they agreed! I love breakfast and can't wait to go back to Daddy O's. Service was fast and the place (including the bathroom) was clean. It is off the beaten path which is part of the local charm of the place. My first time visiting kauai..we came here for breakfast..place was packed but we were able to get a table..my bf noticed the crab stuffed shrimp on display at the counter in heated trays..so we were sure to order that to try..it was yummy! Wanted more but stopped myself so i could try something from the menu..i got the mahimahi eggs benedict with hashbrowns and side of mac salad..yes mac salad its my fav lol..wanted to try their version..i appreciated that the waitress came back n asked how i wanted my hashbrowns cooked..i said xtra crispy but soft inside...my bf ordered a ham n cheese omelet with rice n a piece of the broasted chicken..we both ordered the mini pancakes becuz it cost only .99 cents xtra..while we waited a waiter came to our table n asked us if we like unagi..yes..he showed us a unagi roll that was plated to look like a dragon..asked if we would like to order it..i said sure why not! Opened only 3 months...still a hidden gem. Family owned by Daddy-O and Mommy-O. Everything is extremely fresh. The Loco Moco is the best I've had and they catch their own fresh fish for lunch. You can tell that this restaurant is here because they love doing what hey do and owners are foodies and know quality ingredients.
