A friend suggested this place for us when we went to Kauai. When we got here the place was a little picked but it has a homey feeling to it. The staff were very friendly. I definitely had to try the ono loco moco because where ever I go and they have a moco and need to try it and I must say it's one of the best moco I've had. It looks plain but tastes yummy I would definitely order this again if we came back. But there is all kind of other things I would want to try from them the next time I come back to Kauai. Definitely coming back here to try everything else.

We went to Daddy O's after landing at the airport - we were all starving after a 5.5 hr flight so this was the a great stop for my family. My husband got the big daddy O plate (great for all the meats!!), I got the mini loco moco, and our daughters got the full stack of pancakes and the plain waffles. Everything was delicious and the staff was all very kind. My only thought is that the restaurant itself runs a bit more on the less ambient side, and feels a bit rustic. But honestly, we're happy and our tummies are pleased!

We came for brunch yesterday and found out why this place is so popular with locals. The breakfast plates are made with lots of aloha. The pancakes and plates were delicious. They had local dishes like loco moco and spam with rice. We tried their new featured dishes called a special Japanese pork tonkatsu. Wow! It's Best tonkatsu we ever had with juicy premium pork imported from Japan and cooked to perfection. They plan to offer it later in the afternoons and possibly evenings soon. The service was super friendly and helpful. The local restaurant is cozy and welcoming. They also have AC if it gets too warm. We love this island favorite.

If you're looking for breakfast, this is a great choice! Especially if you like eggs Benedict and shrimp then this is a definite must try. Service was very friendly and the portions were great. My family had the original French toast and added the coconut macadamia sauce on top. We also ordered the breakfast plate with three meats, three eggs, hashbrowns, and rice. There's plenty of parking outside and inside the restaurant there's comfortable seating.

Had a very confusing experience here ordering through the Yelp app. I ordered as we were driving to the restaurant, but the order status stayed at "pending confirmation from the restaurant" and never updated to "pick up ready". I had no idea what to expect when I arrived to pick up my order, but luckily my order was ready. It sounds like at least for Yelp, they get incoming orders but don't have the ability to send updates back. I wouldn't recommend ordering via the Yelp app as you don't get order updates and prices are more inflated than ordering directly from the restaurant. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the wait didn't seem that bad and we were starving, so we asked if we could get a table and eat our takeout order there. After waiting ~10 minutes, we got a table and I finally opened the food. I'm really glad I decided to eat here, because they actually packed the wrong dish for me. I ordered the stuffed shrimp plate, but they misread that as the stuffed shrimp benedict. I told them about their mistake and they quickly remade my dish. I didn't realize they drizzle hollandaise sauce over the shrimp plate and would've asked them to remove it had I known, since I'm not a fan of the stuff. But after scraping off most of the sauce, I found myself really enjoying the stuffed shrimp. I'm not sure what goes into the stuffing, but there was definitely a lot of mushroom and other tasty thing. The stuffed shrimp paired with some rice really hit the spot after biking in the morning. Portion for this was on the smaller side though. My friend got the broasted chicken breakfast and thought it was just okay. We both felt it was dry. Since we were dining in, my friend ordered a coffee and we shared a mini order of their popular macadamia nut pancakes ($8.75) to try as well. Very happy they offer various sizes of their pancakes for folks like me who just want to try a few bites. I usually prefer savory dishes at brunch but the coconut sauce on top was bomb! Would recommend.

My omelet and hash browns were made to order, so they were fresh and tasted good. Our table also ordered the steak and eggs, Eggs Benedict, and pancakes. The steak wasn't a premium cut, which is understandable for the price, but it had quite a bit of fat that needed to be trimmed off before eating. The Eggs Benedict was edible, but it ranked on the lower end compared to others I've had. It wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't something I'd order again. The pancakes were decent. The staff were very friendly and mentioned that they serve Japanese food on certain evenings, which sounded interesting. Overall, the experience wasn't bad, but it also wasn't memorable enough to make me want to come back. There are other places I'd rather try before returning here.

Daddy O's in Lihue is a simple but classic restaurant serving up Hawaiian/Asia pacific style faire. I went for breakfast with my family. I ordered the local breakfast with bacon. I thought it was really great for what it was. It's affordable and filling and it's a fair price. The service was great. We even got to speak to the owner Daddy O and we learned he was in business at this location for about 10 years and he was a former commander of a gunship at 20 in Vietnam the Vietnam War. WOW. When he is not serving up yummy food in his restaurant he is giving aerial tours and teaching flight lessons for planes and helicopters. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the street, but it is definitely a place you will want to go during your time in Kauai.

Tried Daddy O's for breakfast with my family and was pleasantly surprised. We got seated right away and our food came out fast. Our server was super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Ono Omelet which was really tasty. I had anticipated that it would be pretty oily because of the spam and Portuguese sausage inside, but it wasn't oily at all. The spot is tucked away in the back of a plaza, so it's easy to miss, but definitely worth finding.

Just the perfect mom and pop restaurant we needed during our stay in Kauai! We came here twice and really enjoyed the food. Breakfast and lunch served all day. We met the owner Henry and he was super welcoming. Remembered us on our second visit. We didn't know what to order so he started us off with Chinese sui mai and steamed pork bun. Good app to start off with! Speciality of the day was the prime rib sandwich, we went with his recommendation and it did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed the sandwich. What really made us come back the second time was the macadamia pancakes. I don't really order pancakes but I wanted to try something more local especially with macadamia. I'll have to say this is the best pancakes I've ever been served. Super fluffy, warm, and the best part was the coconut cream. That literally sold it for me. Henry was right when he told us we'd come back after our first visit. We also tried the breakfast burrito also. Just the right size and everything you can ask for inside a Hawaiian breakfast burrito. Great spot, will recommend anyone to come try!

This is a pretty decent local diner. We were seated and waited on very quickly. My husband and I split the Kanaka breakfast and an order of papaya. The portions are a good size. Included in the Kanaka breakfast was eggs over medium, two types of rice, hash browns, sausage links, sausage patties, bacon, fried spam, hash browns, toast and pancakes. Everything was good. The papaya was fresh and served with a lemon, which really elevated the fruits flavor. Overall food was good but nothing special. read more

Daddy O's was a nice surprise. The approach was low key but the parking lot was full. The steak and eggs hit the spot- steak was cooked perfectly and the eggs were tasty. Heads turned when the sizzling plate was delivered out of the kitchen. Solid execution on the Eggs Benedict, the hollandaise was light smooth. At first glance you wouldn't expect it to be an amazing place, but the customer service makes you feel invited and they help you out with suggestions on the menu. Read a few Yelp reviews before going and all that I can say is thank you Yelp reviewers. I would have never found this local eatery without this site. This was a cute little breakfast place in Lihue. The food seemed pretty traditional for family breakfast. Hawaiian bread French toast is all worth saying. Pretty good over all. It didn't knock my socks off but still good and did the job for breakfast on our way to Waimea canyon. The blueberry pancakes were good. Probably the best loco moco I have ever had. The hamburger was tasty but the key component is the gravy. Delicious. I would love to have the recipient for it. The portion sizes are generous. We got the breakfast special for this particular day which was the loco moco and the stuffed French toast and pancakes. Silly to call this a standout breakfast place. It's ok and a true local hangout, but the food is ordinary, not very healthy and somewhat limited. Not having egg whites these days are unacceptable. Friendly service helps but the food quality is still the number one on the list. read more

Service very slow and seems as staff confused and unable to wait on customers. Experience was awful, there is a small/skinny lady who comes to your table and only takes beverage order from 1 or the 4 customers sitting at the table. She completely ignore the other customers as they spoke she walked away from the table. Then there is another waitress who comes over and is very pleasant and acknowledges everyone. Had to wait 45 minutes for our mediocre food to show up. After 35 minutes we politely inquired about our order, only to be told that the staff lost our ticket. After the food finally appeared, the owner came over to chat us up. He was friendly and it felt like he was trying to make things right, which we appreciated. He asked if we would like to try a piece of his famous fried chicken. We said sure, thinking it was a nice gesture after such a long wait. When the check came the piece of chicken was on it. We stayed in Kauai for 6 days and truly struggled to find a great place to eat. On our last day in town we found this diamond. Their food was outstanding. Their service was exceptional, accommodating and friendly. I would highly recommend this place. The pancakes are mouth watering. They are perfectly cooked. I tried the loco moco for the first time and was thoroughly impressed. The patty was flavorful, the gravy was perfect. The stuffed French toast is gorgeous to look at not to mention delicious. Owner is a jerk who talked down to us for being younger than 40. Essentially claimed we were lazy because of our age and kept insulting us. Nice of him to know so much after serving us food for 2 minutes. Our server was gracious and kind which is the only reason we still tipped well, but i would never support such a bitter owner who seems so sick of himself. Maybe breakfast is good but the lunch we got was terrible. The fish and chips was supposed to be mahi but looked like some ugly brown fish and didn't taste very good. The beef ribs were mostly bone and scant meat served on a plate of rendered fat. Not good. The servers were nice. Would not recommend the food. Blech. read more

Our first time, we ordered the plate with 3 types of chicken. The chili pepper chicken was a favorite. The broasted chicken was really good but too hot to eat until the end of our meal, and by that time we were full. Actually burned my mouth at the end of our meal. Lol. We actually came up with the breakfast burrito when we were doing fish tacos! Just recently we created an anchor chili sauce to go with it to give it just a little bit of a kick. So glad you enjoyed it.

I ordered the stuffed shrimp benedict -- shrimp and eggs benedict are two of my love languages -- and asked to have the green onions left off even though they weren't listed in the ingredients. No pushback, no drama, just accommodated. The portion situation: two full benedicts arrived, which I was not prepared for. I don't eat much and couldn't finish the second one, so come hungry or come with a friend. No sides included but honestly the benedicts stand on their own. Service was fast from the moment I walked in -- greeted immediately, seated quickly, order taken fast, food out fast. Casual busy vibe that feels like a real local spot. On vacation from Canada, we decided on Daddy O's for breakfast which was served up quickly, fresh and hot, great service. Harry the owner convinced us to come back for his signature Surf & Turf Dinner which he served up personally. Just so you know all of the tips go to the house. I used to work here and none of us got paid tips. I find the this very dissapointing, the customers falsely assume the tips are going to the workers. If you want to tip the workers you clould pay them through zelle or some online payment method, that way the house doesnt claim it all. read more

I had a moment of panic when I walked up because the menu has so many great things on it that I had a tough time making up my mind. No worries though as the line is patient and the friendly lady manning the window wasn't pushy. It is exactly what you would expect. A local operation with folks hustling in the kitchen to make your food to order. There are daily lunch specials but I have only been for breakfast which was plenty good! In fact it was so good, I'm planning to go back again tomorrow haha. I can vouch for the corned beef hash (made crispy) and eggs with rice and a side of Portuguese sausage. Artery clogging goodness for sure! It's cash only so come prepared and since it is made to order, if there is a line, you will be waiting a bit while they make your order. Tipping is optional but there is a jar at the window. Leave 'em something because I watched them hustle like crazy to feed the working class at the crack of dawn to keep the island running. Nothing special or unique about burgers, pizza, and doughnuts. Thus, having "100% Local" and "Quality over quantity" garishly marketed on their building- constitutes as fraud as far I am concerned. What exactly is "local" about this business? Certainly not the ingredients- nor are the business owners. What exactly makes the coffee "Hawaiian"? Certainly not the coffee beans. What makes it "quality"? Fruity pebble lucky charm marshmallow donut? This business does not support or benefit the local farmers or the health of the local people. But they will use shady marketing and gladly accept the money of the naive and gullible. This building has the ambience of a laser-tag arena, and I wish the county would make them paint over the hideous artwork. It stands out like a giant tacky billboard on the side of the highway. So to the locals and tourists- go support an actual deserving local business. You can get junk like this anywhere- there's nothing unique or authentic about it. Also- this business is sketchy. Ask around.
