Went to Dad's tonight for dinner. Normally it's a pleasant place to go. However, today it was so cold in there it was unbearable. I asked the waitress to see if the air conditioning could be turned up to no avail. I asked to speak with the manager, who came out and told us the temp couldn't go above 68° to keep the kitchen workers at a safe temperature. Personally I believe that was b.s. having worked in many kitchens. Your customers shouldn't have to freeze to keep the kitchen staff 'safe'. If your HVAC system I that bad, upgrade it. read more

Hands down the best burger I have had in my life, and I did not expect to find it at Dad's. Decided to stop here away from downtown Pittsburgh to avoid rush hour traffic, so I Yelped restaurants and they led me here. Clearly it looks like an old Pizza Hut location which made me pause on how the experience would be, but am I sure glad I stopped here. It was a beautiful and cool sunny day, and after working inside I felt like sitting on the patio. There were two dogs sitting with their owners at other tables, which at first I thought may be annoying but then appreciated the fact they were allowed to be there. As I sat outside, about 4 other groups of people showed up from different parties, and everyone seemed to know everyone, a very nice home town feel. Based on the full parking lot I also felt like I was making a good decision. I ordered the loaded nachos without jalapeños, and the chips were very good, I was just hoping for more cheese sauce. Next is the burger: medium rare to perfection, and I was able to customize my burger with mayo, American cheese, ketchup, and lettuce- a nice simple burger. Well.... I can't quite pinpoint what it was, but it was the best burger I ever had, and in Monroeville of all places. The bun was the freshest and softest bun ever, almost like they made it in the back! And the fries were heaven, although I was too full to even finish. I will ABSOLUTELY come back here the next time I'm in the area. I loved the hometown and relaxed vibe of this place. Perfect for what we went for....cold beer, food and watch some basketball/football. Sooo sooo good. We asked for recommendations from people next to us at the bar and the bartender. Nice warm day demanded a dinner on a patio. Driving by this place and decided to change our original plans and stop in, as they are so close to our home. Patio dining was just right. Pub fare, as advertised in the name of the restaurant. Selections include pizza, wings, salads, sandwiches, soup. I ordered the gyro and chips and my husband ordered the fish sandwich and fries. I was satisfied with my gyro but a bite of the fish sandwich makes me want that next time. Loved the fries snitched from my husband's plate over the chips. In the search for a new local bar that features craft and local beer, we made our way to Dad's. On our sampling trip, we sat at the bar fairly late on a Sunday night. There were plenty of great beers to choose from, and the bartender took our order and delivered our drinks promptly. The full bar also offers wine, mixed drinks and specialty cocktails. We ordered a variety of late night snacks to sample: fried zucchini, hot cheese balls, Mac n cheese, and beer battered French fries. We loved the Mac n cheese and fries! The zucchini needed a bit more zucchini, and we were expecting the hot cheese balls to be a little spicier, but we liked them with the honey mustard dipping sauce. I got the vibe that this was the D's of Monroeville and I think that's great. The menu is varied with lots of vegetarian options. Service was friendly, and it seemed like the other guests were regulars. To end on another compliment, I liked that the tvs in the restaurant weren't just playing sports. Worst wings I've ever had in my life. I asked for extra crispy but to no avail they weren't. Wings were huge and soggy. I knew it was a disaster from the beginning when I asked for extra crispy and the woman on the phone said 10 minutes. I have been to Dad's a few times and I would definitely consider it to be a high quality gastropub. This is definitely NOT a frozen French fry place. The food is hot, fresh, and delicious. It's not necessarily healthy, as much of the food is fried, but it's not supposed to be. This is an indulgent sort of place where you respect the food just for being with flavorful, well-proportioned bar and grill grub. We have never had anything here that we didn't love, whether eating in person or ordering from the website. Do not bother with chain restaurants in Monroeville. Went to Dad's in Monroeville today with the Lifespan Seniors. All though we arrived early and they didn't open till 11 They were very accommodating . The food was great and had a lot of chores.The food was very appealing and was hot when it came to the table.it was appetizing and delious.Out of 13 Seniors no one disliked their food .Witch is a great accomplishment. The restrooms and dining room was neat and clean although a little chilly. Steve raised the heat for us .Steve helped out our waitress since we were a large group and it getting very busy what a great guy, he was awesome. Our waitress was Macy she was very polite and made sure she check back with us. The mood in the restaurant was made you feel welcome there was minimal noise. My 62-year old mom just got cut off for the first time in her life! Hahaha! To break it down, the food and drinks were great. The service was also great, that is, until we ordered a final round and asked for the check. We got the drinks but then we waited and waited but never got the check. When we finally saw the server, we asked for the check again and said we'd like one more round. We were having fun and since it had gotten so late, our designated driver wanted to watch the end of the Steelers game. So, we ask for another round, and that's when the server cut off my mom and said that she was flagged for ordering too many drinks! Hahahah! It was the funniest thing in the world but also annoying since the tables around us were drinking pretty heavily without designated drivers. It was weird. On one hand, I wanted to give a 5 star review for how funny it was, but on the other, it was really condescending and unnecessary. We are from the other side of Pa. and came to Monroeville to stay before a Steeler game. Found this place, sat at the bar and fell in love. I wish we had a Dad's Pub and Grub where we live. I would be there every weekend. Great food, terrific prices nice people and a very welcoming atmosphere. We have returned every time we want to come to The Burgh. We have had the pizza, wings, chilli cheese fries, and quesadilla everything has been fast, tasty, and a generous portion. Really busy place especially on the weekends. We were lucky to find an open table here in the bar section. The walls are lined with different select beers, domestic and foreign and they even have 6 packs to go as well. We just wanted to eat and drink so I grabbed a caesar salad and some chili while the hubby ordered a chicago dog and chili as well. He was interested in the dog fish bites for an appetizer which I'm glad he ordered because they were awesome!!. The batter was on the sweet side which made them taste so great with the tartar sauce. My salad was awesome too although they cut the romaine a little too skinny so it took me about 30 minutes to eat it. The chili is definitely the best I have had in years. Maybe the best ever. No kidney beans and very spicy. A little too spicy but still delicious as ever. The chili had sooo much flavor and I'm very pleased at how hot it was when It came out especially considering the crowds. Hubby agreed its the best he's ever had as well along with his chicago dog. I wanted to have a bite but I couldn't because he finished it all. We tossed back several beers and even tried their high octane imperial red ale which is about 10.2% ABV. We split it of course because of the high level of spirits. We were a little on the tipsy side but still good enough to drive. The chili really helped absorb the beer so we drank.
