The food is always delicious, and all of the side dishes are amazing. The sashimi is always incredibly fresh. It's a great place to come with friends--if you order one combo, there's more than enough food for everyone. I also love that they make a delicious porridge at the end of the meal. It's such a nice finishing touch, and I always leave feeling full and satisfied.

I went to Daebok (대복) in Koreatown LA for lunch today and had the daebok jiri (codfish soup) and agujjim (Spicy braised monkfish). My younger brother caught a cold and really wanted something warm and comforting, so we came here. All the side dishes were delicious, and every dish we ordered tasted great. I especially love the fried rice they make for you after finishing the jiri broth -- it's always so flavorful and satisfying. The food and service here have always been consistently good, so our family has been coming to this restaurant from time to time for many years. But maybe because of the slow economy these days, there were only three tables occupied during lunch (including us). After the other two tables left, we were the only ones there, and honestly, it made me worry a bit. I hope this place stays busy because their food is truly good.

Recently, I've noticed that some restaurants in LA are actually more affordable than in Orange County, and the flavors are backed by long-standing tradition. You can tell the difference if you visit and compare for yourself -- the ingredients taste fresh, and the dishes have their own unique character, so there isn't much to compare with others. Specialty items like monkfish or pufferfish stew and braised dishes are quite common in Korea, but here in LA they are rare to find, which makes this place even more special.

We celebrated here for my boyfriend's dad's birthday and enjoyed the pre fixed menu. Most of it was seafood, all of which was fresh and filling for everyone! They ended the pre fixed menu with some soup, which rounded everything out. The service was quick - they did give us a fully Korean menu (though I think this is because his family is Korean, so I'm not sure if they have an English menu since I never saw one). His dad also mentioned that this is a really rare restaurant since not a lot of Korean restaurants in the US serve this kind of food! They specialize in monkfish, so if you're interested definitely check this out.

I recently visited Daebokjung with my mother; it was our first time together, and my first visit in over a decade since going with my father. We ordered the Agujjiri and Agujjim combo (from dinner menu, not lunch) and the Agu Tangsuyuk. After enjoying the Jiri, we mixed rice into the remaining broth. The flavors were clean and wholesome. The Agujjim appeared spicy but was actually mild, and I felt like I consumed a month's worth of bean sprouts today. Everyone was satisfied with this delightful meal.

This is my favorite restaurant in LA. I came here so many times, my favorite dish is octopus with pork belly, so tasty. They have very good free appetizers and rice, I love that so much.

Food was good and its portion was large enough. Compare to other restaurants the price was fair too.

I've been coming here for years and taste is consistent. We ordered the halibut combo, which was started by the appetizers: pajeon, steamed egg, and side dishes. The main entrees were the halibut sashimi along with agujjim. Followed by the fried fish and agu. Finish the meal with a seafood stew with red chili and tons of garlic. Once there's a little bit of broth remaining, the server comes and makes fried rice and adds seaweed and chopped water celery. There's a huge parking lot for the restaurant. Not sure if there are valet attendants anymore.

We started with the Sea Urchin, a decadent combination of citrusy Baja bay scallop ceviche topped with rich, creamy uni that was as indulgent as it was fresh. The Baja blood clams on the half shell were another standout: briny, incredibly fresh, and absolutely delicious, letting the quality of the seafood speak for itself. The grilled kanpachi collars were outstanding, with beautifully crisp, smoky skin giving way to rich, buttery meat. The grilled branzino was equally impressive, perfectly charred on the outside while remaining light, flaky, and moist inside. A surprise favorite was the lineup of house-made hot sauces. Each had its own personality, delivering just the right balance of heat, acidity, and creaminess. I kept reaching for them with every dish. Every plate showcased exceptional ingredients and careful execution. After finally experiencing it for myself, the long line, Michelin recognition, and James Beard accolades all make perfect sense.

Fresh and Flavorful Seafood I've visited this seafood spot…read moretwice recently, and both times the food was fresh and flavorful. The shrimp cocktail was especially good, with generously sized shrimp and a tasty cocktail sauce. My order had 14 shrimp, which felt like a fair portion for the price. It came with three tostadas, though only one hot sauce packet was included. That's a minor detail, but I would have appreciated extra packets. Good Value Seafood isn't cheap, but the prices here seem reasonable. They also offer weekday lunch specials that make items like the shrimp cocktail an even better deal. The campechana is another solid option and worth trying. Small Neighborhood Spot The restaurant itself is small, but there always seem to be customers inside, which says a lot. I also like that they decorate for holidays...it gives the place a welcoming neighborhood feel. Pickup Experience I've only ordered takeout, and my food has been ready quickly both times. Service was decent overall, although there was a brief moment during my last visit where I wasn't acknowledged right away while waiting for my order. Overall If you're craving a good shrimp cocktail or campechana, this local spot is worth checking out. Fresh seafood, fair prices, and a convenient neighborhood location make it a place I'll be visiting again.

Got here about an hour before closing so the Mercado had a chill vibe in general and the lines were pretty short... So of course I took advantage of getting food items from a couple of locations! I specifically wanted the squash blossom quesadilla or quesadilla de Flor de Calabaza from Komal and the Tostada de Kanpachi + Uni from Holbox.... wow. I just felt so spoiled with so much delicious food available to me... and with little to no wait on anything! As expected, both the tostada and the quesadilla were fantastic and oh so aesthetically pleasing. I wish my stomach or appetite was bigger. I really do want to try some of the other spots that don't get featured as much... I guess there's next time. Always a treat when visiting the Mercado. Especially when there is a possibility of grabbing a lot of different high-quality bites at different places for the same meal.
