I recently dined at DAI Sushi, the new owners of Sushi Gesshin. The service was friendly, fast, and attentive. Our food came out quickly, and we were impressed with the quality of the dishes. We started with the mentaki pasta and takoyaki, which were both good. For our nigiri, we opted for the sea bream, yellowtail belly, amberjack, and jumbo scallops, all of which were fresh and delicious. However, we were disappointed with the miso black cod nigiri. The pieces were much smaller compared to the other nigiri we got, and the fish was chopped up into chunks and missed the charred flavor that we normally expect from other sushi spots. We also saw the blue crab hand roll on the "Today's Specials" board, but unfortunately, it wasn't available when we ordered. One thing that did detract from our dining experience at DAI Sushi was the fact that the music coming from the kitchen was blasting, which made the overall ambience less enjoyable. The music in the dining area was much more relaxing and conducive to a pleasant dining experience, so the contrast between the two was quite jarring. I was really looking forward to trying dai Sushi tonight, but unfortunately, the service was a major letdown. Our server seemed overwhelmed and inattentive, taking ages to take our orders and forgetting one of our appetizers altogether. When I politely asked for a refill on my drink, I was met with a sigh and a long wait. The food took an inordinate amount of time to arrive, and when it did, one of our entrees was incorrect. To make matters worse, when I brought the issues to the server's attention, they seemed dismissive and unapologetic. The manager never came to check on us or offer any resolution. The food was mediocre at best, but the poor service really made the experience unbearable. For the prices they're charging, I expect much better. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

I had the sushi chef combination. 7 pieces chef choice of sushi, crab hand roll, miso soup, and salad. Service was great. The salad was really good and I'm not a salad person, nor did I care for it and ended up eating the whole thing. Went there for lunch by myself and sat at the sushi bar. I really enjoy the warm crab hand roll. That was surprisingly very good. The sushi seems to have too much lemon juice squeezed on it or from touching the lemon on the plate, but that's my own preference. The price for everything was typical of all sushi restaurants. Although they do offer half off 2 pieces of sushi that seemed priced reasonably. I'll come back again whenever I'm around the area and craving sushi. read more
