From obscenities flying out of the kitchen to rude comments being made, employees bitching about having no idea what was going on! The drive-through line was very long; I'll give them that; however, the customers standing in the front of the shop were all but forgotten. I mean zip zilch zero natta nothing, no service what-so-ever! A man was waiting for his online order for over 20 minutes. I ordered from the kiosk like the VERY LARGE SIGN on the door asked patrons to do. Sooooooo I waited, waited, waited and waited some more! Now, mind you, it's a half-hour drive to get home, so while I am starving in the dining area waiting on my order, I'm fuming inside. Calm, cool, and collected on the outside. When FINALLY they call my name for pick up, I look in the bag and low and behold: THIS IS NOT WHAT I ORDERED! I was so annoyed at this point I just smiled, said thank you, and exited the building, guaranteed NEVER TO RETURN! What a joke! The food is sloppy, messy, thrown together, and wrapped improperly. There was very little inside the "burrito," if you could even call it that. Again, it was not what I originally ordered! How sad is it when you have absolutely no respect for your patrons or yourself enough even to give a crap!!! To look someone in the eye and hand them over subpar food. I understand that employees are at a premium right now, but the owner of this establishment needs to go undercover and see what's going on! It's completely chaos!

As a lifelong Ohio State fan, walking into this place felt less like lunch and more like stepping straight into Buckeye Heaven. Every inch of the diner is drenched in scarlet and gray pride--autographed photos, jerseys worn by real players, helmets, and memorabilia that makes you want to stand up and belt out "Carmen Ohio." I knew before even cracking the menu: I was home. Our server, Grace, was all smiles and Buckeye spirit. She gave us the rundown--Woody's has been serving up Buckeye-influenced eats for about 15 years. And it shows. The burgers aren't just burgers here--they're tributes, each named after coaches, players, or football legends. Picking one felt like draft day. Grace recommended the Dustin Burger, named after former Buckeye great Dustin Fox. Now, I'll admit--when I heard "peanut butter on a burger," my first reaction was the same as when Michigan wins a game: complete disbelief. But I trusted Grace. And let me tell you... this was no trick play. This half-pound beauty came stacked with peanut butter, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. It sounds strange, but somehow the combo worked like a perfectly executed Flea Flicker. The bun was grilled, the burger cooked to a juicy medium rare, and by the second bite I needed a stack of napkins big enough to block a defensive line. My wife went with the Tailgate Burger--a powerhouse with house-made BBQ sauce, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, Miracle Whip, and onion straws. Cooked to medium well, it was sweet, tangy, and messy enough to require its own offensive coordinator. She said it was delicious--though maybe a little too "sloppy touchdown celebration" for her liking. And get this--burgers are just the start. The menu is huge, with pizzas, sandwiches, and even big entrees like grilled steak and pork chops. But honestly, when the burgers are this good, I don't know if I could ever call another play. So here's my verdict: Woody's Diner = Buckeye pride + killer burgers + friendly staff = one unforgettable lunch. If you're a Buckeye fan, or just a burger fan, or hey, even if you're that rare soul who just likes food with personality--high tail it to Woody's. Trust me, it's worth it. We ordered our drinks, our server checked our IDs, walked away, then came back and asked for them again. She was gone with them for 5-10 mins before letting us know that because of "reasonable doubt" and things that have been going on, she couldn't serve us. As a bartender, I completely understand she doesn't need to give a reason - it just sucks to be left confused. On the way out, we asked another employee if she could explain why we were denied. She said because of "reasonable doubt," and also because we had "REV" on the back of both of our Illinois licenses which she said meant they were revoked on 09/17/2015. At that time I would've been 11 and my boyfriend was 14... so obviously that doesn't make any sense. She even said to me, "You wouldn't have even been driving then," which is true and makes it even more confusing. I understand the businesses on the lake have to be strict, but what was absurd was the explanation about the "REV" code. If you just Google it, the AI overview says it means revoked, but if you actually look at the Illinois Secretary of State website and/or call them (which I did), it means revised. My dad & brother are cops in Illinois so when I called after we left to ask them, they even verified that for me because I obviously wouldn't have a valid license or even one in my possession... if it had actually been revoked a cop would've taken it away, they don't deal out revoked IDs, AND they don't put that on a license - only way to find out is through the police computer system. But, the most ironic part is that last night, I was there with a group of 12 people, had my ID checked, was served with no issues, and had an amazing time watching the live band. That's what made today's experience surprising and disappointing, and that's why I'm giving 2 stars.
