Even though it appears there's a drive through here, there isn't, so park the car and step up to the counter with the little bell on it to place an order. When I arrived the employee sweeping the parking lot didn't really acknowledge me while I waited at the counter, but eventually someone came out from the back and explained they were putting away freezer items. Once the second employee came to the order window, everything went smoothly and my order was made correctly and she was the one who informed me of the Monday Free Puppy Cone special. This place has been here forever!! It was here way before Wilton Drive was gentrified and redeveloped. In fact, it's almost 70 years old. Kids of all ages have enjoyed their treats for years. The high school down the street provided a ready market. It was a hangout and meeting place for different groups over the years. When I had my office right down the street (it's now a tattoo parlor), more than 30 years ago, I used to come here for a quick lunch or an afternoon ice cream break. They're still putting out all the favorites -- including the sundaes, cones, blizzards, shakes, etc. that the Dairy Queen brand is known for. The current owner has been there over 20 years -- and was recently honored for black history month. Even in those 20 years, she's seen a lot of changes to the Drive. Tonight I was craving something sweet after sushi, and this was on our way home. I decided on a small caramel sundae. I was going to be "good" and get the smallest size. But for only ten cents more, I was talked into the next size up. Oh well. It was cold and refreshing and just what I was craving. Just fyi you line up and order at the northern most window. You pay there as well. There is no inside, but there are a few concrete tables on the south side of the building. Sometimes you'll even get a tad of shade. Came here on a whim, but so glad I did bc the nice lady told me about free pup cones on Mondays. This dog mom was elated! lol. The other lady handed me a note about their survey and free item in return. Overall, really great service and fast. There's no drive thru but plenty of parking right next to it on both sides. Extremely Disappointed With The Lack Of Customer Service and Integrity!! Me and my family have been a loyal customer to this establishment from when I was a little girl and once I became an adult and a mother I continued being a loyal customer even with my kids that's now adults with the exception of one. I've always enjoyed stopping by at least 3-5 times a month, I come a lot with my 12 yr old daughter and we visit quite frequently where I've build a great rapport with the owner, well at least that's what I thought until tonight's visit. Tonight 7/13, I ordered a banana split as I have the last few visit for myself and a brownie Oreo Confection for my daughter; it was really busy tonight but the line moves fast so I wasn't alarmed by the crowd. The owner took my order for the banana split and asked if I wanted pecan or nuts and I said no as always, and asked if I wanted a cherry on top which she's never asked me that before and I said sure. She instantly walked off to start my order but I was letting her know "no whip cream and that I have another item to add I wasn't done ordering. She signaled the other young lady to add the second ice cream that I wanted for my daughter and they instantly moved me to the waiting window as they normally do where you pay and pick up. They fixed my order asked if I wanted tops on them I said yes they bagged them up and I walked to my truck, handed my daughter her ice cream removed mines from the bag and my banana split had whip cream all across the top and my ice cream just looked runny and rushed and not appealing as it normally does. I instantly went back to the window spoke with the owner and expressed to her no whip cream, this where everything went LEFT. She was like you didn't tell me no whip cream and I'm calm still and was like yes I did but you walked off maybe you didn't hear me, she said I did hear you and you didn't say no whip cream, ok now I'm like are you going to make me another one without whip cream or you can refund me. She said I'm not refunding you anything and as a one time courtesy I'll remake it but I won't do it again, so now of course I'm frustrated with how she's handling me over whip cream and have the nerves to be loud talking as if we're not face to face in the window. She then said after this Do Not Return back, and I responded I had no plans on coming back after being disrespected about a mistake you made that could've been resolved smoothly quietly and professionally but to my surprise she showed me a side I would have never even thought I'll witness let alone experience: I've supported this location as I mentioned for decades , I've participated in so many surveys per her request and opted out taking the free pint of ice cream just as a loyal customer and I've been extremely understanding when mistakes have been made in the past and I didn't make a big fuss about it. Tonight she has taught me that being loyal and supportive only go as far as they allow it to go and they will treat and dismiss you as if your business isn't appreciated and respected. Went back and there were bees flying around the order window and the manager came up and impatiently said the line is on the sidewalk and she would get back to me. I had to wait a long time -- I noticed another customer who looked like he was getting frustrated because it was taking a long time as well.. I got a cherry misty float and it looked snd tasted watered down because it was pinkish and not very sweet/tangy (normally these are bright red and tangy). I noticed some kid walked up to the window after me and he was waited on right away -- before the lady with kids behind me. I have been a patron at this location before and I have never had an experience like the one I had last night. I would like to advise that this location is doing some serious PRICE GOUGING. The owner or manager of this location had the audacity to try and charge me $16 for an ice cream parfait. Had I not been to the Pompano Beach dairy queen the night before I would have fallen for her trap. I told the manager the price was different elsewhere and her response was "I don't know about other stores; I only know about this store." As a manager of a business, I would NEVER speak to a customer like that even if they were wrong. She could have conveyed her message a different way. This lady was seriously trying to nickel and dime me for every layer on the parfait. She finally was somewhat accommodating and made my treat in a sundae cup, but then she was aggressively upselling me to get the large, when I wanted a small. It is kind of ridiculous that I paid 9.05 for a sundae at Wilton and paid 8.23 at the Pompano location for a parfait double in size. I'm sure they couldn't care less if I am a customer there again or not, but if I could convince anyone else to not support this business I will. We went to DQ tonight in Wilton Manors, and it felt like old times at DQ as a kid. It's an old school walk-up DQ, and the two gals working there were SO SWEET!! And fast too! They kindly asked us if we wanted to upgrade our sizes (which we did , hehe) and were so friendly with big smiles. Hard to find these days ! Well so much for introducing Dairy Queen to my daughter. She had never been to a DQ before. I had been raving about a Blizzard after watching a commercial on tv and she was excited to try one out. We went on a Friday evening and as soon as we pulled up we saw a long line of patrons waiting to order their treats. I waited for a minute and noticed the line was moving fast so we got off the car. There is no indoor seating, just a window to order and some concrete round tables on the side next to the private parking lot. We were so excited until we got to the window. So much for customer service! We were greeted by someone that obviously was not happy to work there. Attitude, attitude and attitude and now I know why the line was moving fast. It was because the employee was rushing you through your order! We asked about a certain flavor and she just replied "look at the picture and that's what you'll get". Ughhh ok. Well at that point my DQ dreams just got stepped on and we gave up and ordered the first thing we saw, a Smores and Reeses PB Blizzard, $10 total. They were ehh only OK. DO NOT GO HERE! I repeat, DO NOT GO TO THIS DAIRY QUEEN. The employees are so incredibly rude and do not care about the customer. Where do I start. I arrived to this Dairy Queen and there was a few customers waiting and there was 3 of us, one of my friends had never been to a DQ - we stood in the middle in between the two windows to study the menu. Twice, while doing this, one of the two ladies working, the older one told us where the line was and we that we needed to make our way there. I informed her twice we were just looking at the menu. We then made our way to the line. I will not forget to mention that a gentleman did go up to the "wrong window" and the lady gave him a small bag of Doritos and chatted away with him. He most definitely wasn't following her rules but she of course made an exception for him - so strange! DO NOT GO HERE. Moving on...the three of us each ordered blizzards and we asked for extra and paid for extra. We went back to the car to enjoy them and a few bites in, all of us were pretty disappointed that it was pretty much all vanilla ice cream and no candy - especially not extra candy. *Side note - I once worked for a Dairy Queen and I do frequent Dairy Queen so I know the rules of the candy and know the difference between a bad, good and excellent blizzard, really doesn't take much to know this. I repeat, DO NOT GO HERE! One of us went back to the window to let them know that the blizzard was pretty much all vanilla ice cream and especially did not have any extra candy. They quite frankly did not care one bit and did not do a thing about it other than saying that's how it is, end of story. Then another one of us went to the window and by this time the younger employee just snapped and said "I see speckles in there" and said "it's not butterfinger ice cream" and closed the window pretty much. I then went up to the window and said I was not happy with mine, I once worked for one so I know this is not how a blizzard should be, and said there is no candy as well and I sat it down to show them and I said I did not want it anymore. While at this time they wanted nothing to do with us, the younger one grabbed my blizzard and threw it at me. YES, the EMPLOYEE at this Dairy Queen, THREW the blizzard at me as I was walking away - see photo. This is probably one of the trashiest experiences I have experienced with customer service at a restaurant. I will NEVER be going back here and of course I will be reporting this to corporate. Ah the Dairy Queen, or as friends of her lovingly refer to her as just The DQ was a true staple of my childhood and probably why I spent it obese, but that's another story. I've kind of avoided this place because as much as I love the Q, I know it's not really great for me so I keep my distance, however, I had to give myself a treat- I deserve it! This location is sort of a #TBT of sorts. It's retro vibe with walk up ordering reminds me of a time that I never lived through. It's 50's style set up really sets itself apart from everything else in the area. They have it all- Blizzards, sundaes, ice cream on funnel cake and even food! Yes, that amazingly bad for you Dairy Queen food. How I used to love those chicken tenders, fries, Texas toast and that amazing gravy- I didn't see that on the menu, but the next time I'm there I'm asking to make sure. I ended up with my traditional blue raspberry freeze with vanilla ice cream ( a medium). They used to be called Mr. Misty back in PA, but now they've changed their name and I'll never really call them anything else but a Mr. Misty. You can have it blended or have it poured over ice cream. Totally brought my back to my childhood. Marie, the girl who waited on me was very nice. They have a few (somewhat uncomfortable) table/chairs outside but it's right along the road so it's loud and you breathe in fumes from the cars. Run as fast as you can away from this place. There's an older lady who works there who is lazy beyond comprehension and doesn't even fill the cones inside, nor around the perimeter of the cone, and then the ice cream on top of the first section is way smaller than the bottom rim of ice cream, and leans to the right like the Leaning Tower Of Pizza. I asked her to make a new cone and she's so talented that she' s capable of making a new cone exactly as poorly as the first one. She has zero listening skills as I asked for a pup cup only filled one inch and when she gave me a full Sundae cup of ice cream, I asked her to remove 3/4th of hit since my dog is only 10lbs and she scowled at me for that. So after complaining to corporate about her, the owner sent this insane page of lies from the bad employee, oh by the way, who stated after I told her the cones were the worst ones I've ever received in 50 years of buying Dairy Queen, that she's been pouring cones for 21 years! LOL And she still can't do it right! This was the owner's response: I'm contacting you in regards to a complaint you placed at our location, where you stated you were dissatisfied with your last visit, as you said the employee was rude. You ordered a medium cone dipped in chocolate. The employee made your cone  and gave it to you. You yelled that you didn't want it. The employee asked you why and you said it wasn't a perfect cone and was crooked and slightly slanted and wanted another one made. The employee made you another cone. That cone that the employee made you was a perfect cone. She gave it to you and you ordered a small cup of ice cream for your dog. The employee made it and you were upset that it had too much ice cream in it. You demanded that the employee take half the ice cream out because it was too much for your dog. If you would've told the employee that you wanted half a cup of ice cream, you would've gotten half a cup of ice cream. (Here's where it gets really funny) However, the employee gave you what you ordered. The employee did everything you requested and tried to handle the situation in a very good way, even though you were yelling; because we aim to please all customers.
