I'm a bit disappointed with Dame's. The food doesn't meet up to the hype at all. The waffles are soggy and the chicken is dry. There's just nothing that special about it to me. The service was also very slow and inattentive. It looked as if the workers were there to socialize more than serve tables. 4 or 5 people were constantly gathered up at the hostess stand and our server came by our table twice. Once to take our order and once to pick up our checks. I don't think it's worth it. Maybe the location in Durham is different. read more

Definitely my favorite Dames in the triangle area. Service is always quick and the servers are really friendly. I got my usual Dames Daily Special and tried the greens this time and they exceeded my expectations. They're pretty busy every weekend so anticipate going earlier to get your name on the waitlist. read more

Major disappointment. My husband ordered shrimp and grits which came out right away. My food however, not a good experience. I ordered "hold the waffles" which came with 2 sides. My sides came out 1st about 5 minutes after my husband's food. We're waiting on my chicken so after about 5 more minutes a young lady came to the table to say the legs will take about 10 minutes, meanwhile my sides are sitting in front of me getting cold. So i ordered wings instead which came out after about 5 more minutes. My wings were full of feathers, skin was tough, mac and cheese has rosemary in it and the spicy mean greens had no spice. I lost my appetite. The strawberry lemonade was alright though.....$40 later I would have been more satisfied going to chick-fil-a or Outback! read more

This place was really over hyped. The waffle and the butter was really good, but the chicken was the big bulky chicken. I didn't even want to eat the wings. I think I got the strawberry butter and my friend got the honey butter that I ended up trying as well. It was pricey for chicken and waffles. Our waitress was friendly and so was all the staff. We tried this restaurant for Sunday brunch. The food is delicious! They have your waffles, your chicken. But they also do these flavored butters that are fantastic. Nice place to have a mimosa, too. I have been to Dames several times and love the food. Unfortunately yesterday I took my family of 7 there and the hostess was rude. It was if a table of 7 was going to Inconvenience everyone's day. We're talking 6 adults and a child. The hostess told me it would be a 3 hour wait..... so we decided to go to bass pro shop as we waited. Not even 30 minutes our table was "ready". When I got to the restaurant which was a 20 second walk the hostess looked shocked that I even showed back up and he was so annoyed now he had to deal with a large party. He didn't even know how many people I had?????? When he asked me I said 7 and he stated they could only seat 6 at a table. I don't know why he decided to disclose that after we had waited.... maybe to see if we would still leave? Haha no we stayed and sat at two different tables. Went in for dinner tonight for the first time and am so happy I did. The waitress was pleasant and extremely friendly. She explained the menu and was very informative. I decided on the Orange Speckled Chabo. There was an unusual amount of time before our food arrived, and it wasn't very busy yet, but the wait was well worth the taste. The waffle was sweet potato dusted with powdered sugar, with an AMAZING orange honeycomb shmear. On top of the waffle was a juicy chicken cutlet cooked to pure perfection. The plate was then drizzled with a homemade honey dijon sauce. It came with your choice of side and I chose the Cheesy Ceci's Mac & Cheese. Very good as well, it came out piping hot and full of cheese. Overall it was a bit pricey but worth every penny. We'll definitely be back. read more

I had high expectations for this place, since I've only been to Roscoe's chicken and waffles in California and this is a real chicken and waffles restaurant actually in the south. Service: Upon arriving with friends, we were told it would be a 45 minute wait, so we put down a name and number and went to sit in the bass pro shop next door. About 15 minutes later, we get a text letting us know that our table was ready, and we were excited because it was a much shorter wait than anticipated. We walk over 1 minute later, and a table wasn't ready, and we were told to wait along the wall. Some customers left a few minutes after that and the table was cleared for us. It then took at least 5 minutes for someone to come over and ask what we'd like to drink, 5 minutes for them to come back with our waters. Realizing she forgot straws, our waitress tells us that she will be right back, but doesn't come back for another 5 minutes, forgetting straws once again. We ask about the menu, and finally order after another 5 minutes. Our straws and food come another 15 minutes later. After we finished eating, it took about 10 more minutes to get someone's attention to bring us our checks. During the 1.5 hrs we were there, other people seated after us had come and gone. Food: I ordered the daily deal with chicken cutlet and a waffle with strawberry shmear. The chicken breading was really good, I definitely recommend ordering chicken. However, the waffles aren't anything special and you could probably make the same thing at home. read more

The gravy was inviting. The drumsticks though...they were ok. Seems like it wasnt seasoned enough, but not a bad place to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Now you don't have to drive too far to get chicken and waffles from your favorite place! There's lots of seating available and they can accommodate big parties! This time I tried the the Quilted buttercup- a Waffle chicken sandwich with your choice of smear (vanilla almond is my new fave) and side (mac n cheese is the most popular). Went here last Sunday and got the gingerbread waffle with chicken and mac and cheese. The food was solid and came out quickly. The coffee was hot. Actually, the mac and cheese was pretty memorable because it had some yummy spices in it. All in all, it was a good Sunday breakfast. The restaurant itself is casual and not a lot to write home about, but that's ok for a place doing chicken and waffles. The server was attentive, which is always nice.
