To be honest i was disappointed with the matcha... Why is this so hyped? I definitely prefer rok, airoma, vivot
I went to Damo around 2pm on a weekend, and the line was already starting to form out the door. Unfortunately, the line takes up a majority of the cafe space, along with the few sitting tables, so it was pretty difficult to find a spot to wait for my drink after ordering. The pickup area can also get blocked by the line or waiting area, which can make it a little awkward when you're trying to reach over someone to grab your drink. I ordered the Coconut Hojicha and the Matcha Einspanner. The Coconut Hojicha was refreshing, nutty, and definitely the standout of the two. It's such a fun twist on the typical matcha coconut drink, and I have to give Damo their flowers for creating something that feels unique. The Matcha Einspanner wasn't particularly stand-out compared to some of the other cafes in K-Town, but it was still a well-balanced drink with a nice mix of bitterness, sweetness, and creaminess. I can definitely see why so many people consider Damo one of their favorite cafes. Despite the crowded setup, the drinks are creative and thoughtfully done!
Absolutely obsessed with the Hojicha Coconut! This drink is DIVINE, so refreshing, creamy, and delicious. I could literally drink 10 of these! It's definitely a must-try, and I already can't wait to come back for another one. The cakes were just okay for me. I'd probably pass on them next time if I'm just getting something for myself, but they would make a cute gift or present for someone!
Matcha strawberry einspanner really good and creamy You can taste the matcha but it blends beautifully w the strawberry puree and cream top.very crowded when we stopped by. Not enough tables and no one was wiping them down either so it was sticky. Accepted apple pay n cc with no additional surcharge. Drinks came out quick and parking was free.
We ordered the Damo latte - an espresso shot with agave sweetener and the Matcha cream top. The espresso flavor wasn't terribly strong and the matcha tasted alright to me There was a long line of customers and it's a pretty popular Korean drink shop in Koreatown!
got the strawberry matcha!! the cream top was delicious and so glad it didn't make the entire matcha drink heavy bc i just wanted something sweet and refreshing! the service was nice and quick! got my drink within 5-7 mins after ordering!! the inside was on the smaller side and it got busy/crowded fast so recommend getting your drinks to go!
Solid matcha place in ktown!! There's so many places around and it's a saturated market so I get the competition... but this place holds its own! Matcha is rich and bold, there's a good amount so it's not weak. Milk ratio is good so it's not diluted at all. The cream top is nice and thick and doesn't melt into the drink! Matcha Cream Top ($7.75)-- I looooove me a nice and thick cream top and this place does it amazingly. It's thick and perfectly sweetened and doesn't melt with the drink/ice. It stays perfectly thick and still and above the matcha unless you mix it in. The matcha is also really nice and rich. None of the bland or grassy taste. Just genuine good matcha! Chocolate Forest ($7.75)-- Basically same as above but the cream on top tastes like Milo/Ovaltine mixed in. It's a nice and sweet nostalgic taste. Not a hint of bitterness so if you want mocha/dark chocolate this is not the one for you. It's more happy kid hot chocolate vibes. Overall I really like this place for their matcha and would get it again. Pricing is steep but all good matcha goes for around $8 nowadays. Theres a shared parking lot (free if you go in the afternoon) but otherwise street parking.
I stopped by DAMO and ordered a matcha latte. The matcha had a vibrant, earthy flavor that was stronger than most matcha places I've been to. I appreciated the quality of the tea, and the matcha powder and cream on top was not too overly sweet. My friend and I were able to enjoy our drinks inside the shop, as there were plenty of tables available for people to chat with friends or study or work inside.
Visited this spot on a Wednesday at noon and they constantly had a flow of customers coming in and out. There's only a handful of tables and chairs with some stool seating against the front window. Ordered a matcha latte and I kind of regret not adding the cream foam after, but it was already a $7 cup of matcha. Upon mixing and tasting it left a bitter aftertaste so I didn't really enjoy it. I added two packs of raw sugar to try and alter it but I probably should have asked for sweetener or cream top because it still left a bitter aftertaste. Service was lackluster, not warm and friendly, but pretty straightforward. I was able to snag a parking spot in the lot but it wasn't plentiful as the plaza is busy shared with the salt bread shop.

My new favorite spot for decadent matcha and hojicha drinks! The cream top on the hojicha einspanner was so creamy and thick, and it was also the perfect level of sweetness. The strawberry matcha einspanner was also yummy and had a great presentation The space is pretty small but there are a few seats available. The line was around 20 minutes long on a Saturday afternoon. Like most spots in ktown, the parking lot is limited and you'll likely need to find street parking, but it is definitely worth the hype!

Probably one of the top matcha places in Ktown! Got the Matcha Einspanner and it is creamy and strong-- the perfect combo. The staff were super friendly and quick! They have parking in the plaza they are in. I went on a random Tuesday morning so it was easy to find parking. There is some seating and a few outlets, can be a good place to get some work done but seating is limited. But the vibes here are great! read more
Great Einspanner. Long lines, but they move pretty quickly because the staff is very efficient. I love Korean-style cafes, and this one did not disappoint. Both Einspanners were not too sweet and perfectly balanced with the coffee. Not too strong, yet still very flavorful. I will definitely be coming back to try the strawberry matcha since so many people were ordering it. There is a parking lot in front, but it can get crowded because this cafe and a nearby bakery both have long lines. The bakery seems viral, and many people grab pastries there and then come here for drinks! read more

Matcha Latte (6/10): The matcha latte was pretty watered down without a lot of sweetness or matcha flavor. I tend to like my matchas a bit sweeter to pair with the slight bitterness of the matcha, but it tasted too bland and even though there was milk, it still tasted watery. Matcha Einspänner (7/10): This drink was definitely better in comparison to the matcha latte. The creamy foam top was nice and sweet and provided a nice contrast to the matcha in the drink. The matcha, however, still wasn't anything super special. Overall Thoughts: I don't think that the matcha is super unique or something that I would keep going back to. It was nice to try it once, but I think there are much better spots that you can find in socal. One thing I will say though, is that I studied there for around 2 hours, and the environment is very nice to study in. There are tables and chairs (not super comfortable, but it'll do the job) that you can enjoy your drinks and do work. It is not too loud and, during the time that I came, it was not super busy, so it was not too noisy. read more

The chocolate forest matcha is hands down one of the best matcha einspanners I've ever tried. The earthy chocolately taste is incredible. Will definitely be back next time I'm in OC. read more
Went here on a Saturday afternoon and it was fairly busy with the line out the door. It's a small space with a bustling atmosphere. The time in line passed by quickly, and the wait to get the drinks was not long at all. The drinks were yummy and the matcha was definitely good quality matcha. The strawberry matcha pulled through with a fresh and sweet strawberry flavor and it nicely accompanied the creamy matcha. Loved the drinks! read more

My gf was having an awful day with an everlasting migraine. I thought that taking her to a nice coffee shop would change her mood around. I can tell you with confidence that the Yuzu Matcha blew her migraine away and flipped the mood script. It was nice experience to brew tea and catch the fresh Yuzu aroma. I've been to DAMO a few times now and I have to say that the hype is real! The lines are a little long but it's worth it! Even though there may be a line, the wait isn't too long because the staff is efficient. I really like their matcha and the consistency of it - easily one of my favorite matcha spots in LA county. The chocolate and strawberry matcha are also really good. Highly recommend. read more
We waited 10 minutes in line to try some matcha drinks. We ordered the chocolate forest (matcha w choco cream top), strawberry matcha, and cold brew vanilla einspanner. The matcha is strong and on the bitter side. I appreciate that the matcha is strong and authentic. However, warning that parking in the lot is such a hassle and a mess. I don't think it's worth parking hassle. It's a loud minimalistic cafe with lots of natural light. They also have a selection of basic bakery items too. read more

Needed a quick pick me up and finally came to DAMO. Although it is located in a small shopping center, DAMO is the place to stop by! Walked in to fun music and patrons chatting over drinks and pastries. The workers here are super friendly! I ended up chatting with one about my nails and how we live in the same area. So if you need a smile brought to your face, DAMO is the place to stop by. But please keep in mind, the parking here is busy so hopefully you get lucky! read more

There are so many matcha places to choose from in LA, and after some research, I decided to try DAMO. Absolutely did not regret my decision! We got the matcha einspanner (modified to be less sweet) and the matcha tonic. The matcha einspanner was amazing, great quality matcha. I'd give it a 10/10. We were less happy with the matcha tonic, but this is something we've never tried before so maybe we just didn't know what to expect. The cafe itself is quite small and has limited seating. read more

Came here last year and tried the strawberry matcha but wasn't a fan. Decided to give it another shot and tried the matcha einspanner and it was worth it! Definitely better than most matcha places i've had in socal. So yum had to pick it up again before the drive back to SF. There was a long line but it went by quickly and drinks came out shortly after ordering. Would def recommend and return next time i'm in the area! read more

I don't have anything to say about the drinks. Because WE LOVED OOUR DRINKS! It was so good! Service was quick and they were nice. Parking is small and of course it's LA you can never find parking. But their shop was big enough for how busy they were and it accommodating! Big PLUS they have the AC on! read more

Came to Damo and ordered their matcha latte with cream and a chestnut einspanner which is my go to! The chestnut drink is the best drink here hands down. I remember not liking the matcha here before but it was surprisingly okay this time! Still not the best matcha ive had but will satisfy the craving. We also added a matcha banana pudding which honestly was not worth the price but I gave it to a friend to take home. Service could improve and was just okay. I didnt notice that they had left the pudding at the cashier after paying as we turned our backs at the same time the cashier put it down and so it was sitting there for a long time before we went to ask about it :/ read more
when i entered "best hojicha in los angeles" into a search engine, DAMO was listed among the top results. it probably should not have been a surprise given that it presented itself as a tea house with a focus on strongly brewed teas and minimalist decor. after trying their hojicha einspanner for myself, i realized the reviews that drove them to the the top were valid. i was so pleased to find the ENTIRE beverage infused with a roasted green tea flavor. the smoky, nutty notes shined through the tea base AND the cream top! since i visited in the early morning, i found parking in the plaza within seconds and received my order within minutes. seating was also quite ample for the space at that time. read more

Came on a weekend afternoon, and the line was out the door. Despite the crowd, we were able to find a table to sit down, which was nice. The workers were friendly and efficient! I got the Matcha ($7.75), which comes with a cream top. It was smooth, creamy, and a nice green color, but unfortunately the flavor just was not my cup of tea. The presentation was lovely, but the matcha was just not for me or my friends. It left a slightly strange aftertaste in my mouth. If I come back, I would give their other drinks a try! read more
The hojicha einspaner is a must try! I just LOVE the sweet cream that coats the lovely hojicha under it. You can't go wrong with the matcha version as well. It's located in a busy plaza with decent parking. This place does get very cramped as it gets so busy, so you have to be very lucky to grab a seat inside. read more

I trekked down there on an early Saturday morning. So worth the drive! I read about their thick creamy toppings and went for the Black Forest cacao topping on an oat double matcha latte. Absolutely wonderful! Instant pleasure and prolonged energy all day! Thank you, Damo! Maybe consider Studio City of your next location. read more
High-quality matcha in LA with a side of free parking. It's been awhile since I've been an LA girlie full-time, so I feel like the parking details are important for out-of-towners or just those like me that won't go somewhere with annoying parking. The matcha is genuinely lovely. Balanced and nuanced, with just the right touch of sweetness, creaminess, and that signature vegetal depth, rounded out by a whisper of bitterness. Exactly how this girl enjoys her matcha moments. The shop itself leans minimalist, though it could benefit from a bit of sprucing up such as cleaner corners and a few thoughtful design touches (starting with the bathroom doors which currently scream utility closet). Still the service came with a smile, and did I mention the free parking? Lol :) read more

We tried the Strawberry Matcha Einspanner and Einspanner Latte. Both were really good. The matcha wasn't overly sweet or drowned with milk, and the strawberry tasted fresh! One of the best strawberry matchas I've had. The latte tasted like tiramisu and had a more milk to coffee ratio. Orders came out fast and service was good. Good place to study but very limited seating and parking lot is quite atrocious. read more
Made my way to Ktown as I didn't want to fight weekend traffic and parking. I'm not sure what the hype about this spot is or if we ordered the wrong drinks. Full house on a Wednesday around 11am with a constant line of at least 7-10 people. Parking in lot wasn't too bad people were coming and going every 5 minutes or so, parking spots will free up if you keep your eyes peeled. Drinks are made quick, wait wasn't bad. Strawberry Matcha -so watered down, not much matcha flavor as I preferred. Strawberry chunks was a little odd, it's more of a chunky strawberry jelly similar to ones you use on PB&J. Hojicha Einspener -hojicha tea topped with hojicha cream top. Base of drink was good, it's water based. Cream part good as well. Solid Hojicha but not the best I've had. read more

I've been waiting to try a strawberry matcha einspanner and it was pretty good (wasn't my fav matcha in LA, but it's up there)! I also tried the hazelnut latte my friend got and that one was amazing. The workers were very accommodating to adding additional modifications to the drinks as well. The interior was also cute and seems like it would be more relaxing when it's not so busy inside. read more
After lunch with some friends we decided to grab some dessert so one friend mentioned that she had been meaning to check out Damo. We carpooled and found street parking nearby; the parking lot where Damo is located is fairly small and fills up quickly. There was a line out the door when we arrived and the line continued to stay that long and even got longer during our stay. We were lucky enough to eventually snag one of the few tables for four after a party left. Though the line was long, it moved quickly and we probably only waited about 20-30 minutes in line. We ordered some drinks and desserts. My hot tea came with traditional Korean tea tools as well as a small accompanying dessert. It was fun brewing my own tea though I do wish the hot water stayed hotter. Prices was fair. The various sweets were also yummy. Overall, I can see what the hype is about, just be prepared for a bit of a wait! read more
Damo is so consistent with their tea offerings! Definitely one of my favorite matcha spots in LA. I got the strawberry cream top matcha! So good! But be warned it's very strong and a tad on the sweeter side. I swapped for oat milk and the total came out to $9. There's a small parking lot which is always convenient. My husband and I were around the neighborhood and wanted to get a matcha drink before our drive home. Damo was recommended and I'm so glad we checked it out. It's located in a plaza with free parking, but it can get busy. We waited about 25 minutes to order and receive our drinks. They do have a few tables for you to sit at, but it seems more like a grab and go place. We ordered the matcha einspanner, strawberry matcha einspanner, chocolate forest einspanner, and hojicha einspanner. Every drink was delicious. You can taste the matcha in each drink and they were all so creamy. Recommend this place if you're around the area and want to get a matcha. read more
We came on a Friday around 1PM and the line to order was long but it went by pretty fast! There is seating but they tend to all be taken so if you're lucky, someone might leave so you can get a seat! Parking is in a somewhat bigger plaza than most KTOWN cafes so it was slightly easier! I got the strawberry einspanner and my sister got the matcha einspanner. I loved the strawberry einspanner and the cream on top was especially good. It tasted like strawberry milk (which it kind of was) but you can tell it's not artificial because of the purée/jam at the bottom. A modern chic cafe to grab drinks and catch up with friends. I got a chestnut einspanner and quite enjoyed it though i would say it doesn't really have strong chestnut flavor. But overall still a nice cup of creamy coffee that isn't too sweet. You may have to wait a little bit because they are always crowded but they do try to have the drinks come out promptly. Parking in the plaza sucks since it is a very busy plaza with limited parking so better to try to find street parking near by if possible. read more
Absolutely perfect matcha served by a fantastic staff of people. The matcha is rich, dense, creamy, Earthy, and oh so good. It is one of the best matcha's in LA. The cream top left a bit to be desired however. It's thick and creamy but not sweet or any other flavor to really balance with the matcha. Some shops do a sweet or salted cream top that I think could work really well here at DAMO read more
