Pretty good matcha! If you like strong matcha this is for you as I like mine pretty strong too. It said the matcha was sweetened and I get worried about it being too sweet so I asked for extra matcha but omg theirs is so strong! I would get again without the extra matcha. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and there was surprisingly no line since this place is so popular. There's only a few small tables here, so it's not really a place I would choose to study or do work at. I got an unsweetened matcha einspanner. The matcha was very creamy with no grassiness or bitterness and the cream top was lightly sweet. It was delicious. read more

Came here for the coffee and matcha and we loved it! It gets crowded here, but it's a solid place to come by for drinks! It can be nice for a date or a small group of friends, (but not too big!) We got the Hojicha latte and matcha latte and both were really good! Hoping to get the matcha einspanner next time since everyone else gets that as well! Service is nice and quick! Thankfully it has a parking lot so it is more accessible compared to other spots! read more

A must try! Super clean modern vibe, buried inside a lil shopping center in ktown. Ive been trying to get my hands on their brown butter mochi and finally was able to as they sell out of their pastries quite fast. So if you've been meaning to try i suggest you come early. I follow MUSK bakery on IG to see when she drops. I loveee their yuzu espresso tonic 10/10 the yuzu syrup is so yummy Macha latte with strawberry foam is always on point 8/10 a lil thick for my liking but apparently that's the vibe Basic latte 8/10 Brown butter mochi 100/10 sooo yummy! Very interesting Korean tea experience. Modern simple minimalist Korean tea house atmosphere. We tried jeju forest black and rouge bourbon tea. Our tea order came with the whole tea tray set including a side treat of dried jujubee and yakgwa. They gave us 3 minute sand timer to wait for our tea and instruction to first pour over the large glass and let it sit for tea leaves to sink down and pour to our tea cup to drink. It was a very interesting experience to slow down and enjoy our tea but our tea leaves (especially for rouge bourbon tea leaves weren't filtered at all and it was impossible to drink without having the tea leaves pour into our tea cups. From looking at the vid on Google review, it would of been more helpful olif we were given the leaf shaped metal strainer for additional layer to filter out the tea leaves. We wanted to ask the staff but all of the staff were so busy with people in line the whole stay we have been there. read more

Long lines, limited parking, small space and no A/C. It's very clean and modern looking inside with deliberately placed objects for decoration. I got the strawberry matcha and it did not disappoint. I didn't really taste the matcha itself perhaps due to the strong strawberry flavor. Service was friendly and efficient. Line moved quickly and wait time once order was placed wasn't bad. I wouldn't mind revisiting if I'm in the area again. read more

strawberry matcha einspanner was so good w/ both equally strong flavors of the matcha and strawberry! they add enough strawberry puree which most places don't do. also tried the chocolate forest is a matcha latte w/ chocolate foam cream on top. it was good but i just don't prefer chocolate in my drinks. came at sat 4pm wait 10 min and drinks came out pretty quickly. it would help to have a 2nd menu closer to the front of the store so ppl can look at the menu while waiting. read more

Found this place while staying in Koreatown, a very cute spot but went here on a Saturday and the line was out the door! So be prepared to wait a bit. Matcha seemed to be their speciality so decided to try that and it tasted really delicious , you can see how they prepare the matcha. Would love to try their food since it looks nice. But this spot is great if you're trying to look for good quality matcha. read more

Wow this is one of the best matcha places I've ever been! We came here on a Sunday morning and there was a line inside already. The wait was pretty long since it looked like there were limited workers. There was quite a bit of seating too. I got the matcha espaner latte and my so got the strawberry matcha latte. Wow the drink was so creamy and not too sweet. You can really taste the matcha too. Definitely recommend if you haven't checked out this place yet! read more

I wanted to share my positive experience at DAMO. Parking was easy, as they offer a shared parking lot and plenty of street parking. Although it was quite full during our visit, there was ample seating available with two bars and various tables and chairs, making it comfortable to stay, work, or simply enjoy a drink. We tried the Matcha Einspener and the Strawberry Matcha, both of which were delicious. I also sampled their cute and tiny pastries, specifically the mugwort fig one, which had a wonderful flavor, and I truly enjoyed the figs. Used to love coming here, but have been absent from this spot since the new location opening in the Arts District. It was a shame to see how this place's standards have dropped since I was last in. The staff were poorly organised and rude, and the floors + finishings were covered in grime and marks. This location used to be the pinnacle of fine matcha and coffee, but now feels super run down. read more

First time ever having Damo matcha and fell in love with the chocolate matcha! I love me a matcha with chocolate notes and a matcha with a chocolate cream top is equally as delicious! The matcha drinks here are lightly sweetened in my opinion and as someone with a sweet tooth, I had to ask for extra sweetness on my drink. The interior of the shop was really nice, very limited space, and quite stuffy in there especially on a super hot day. I would definitely come back again to get the chocolate matcha! read more

Was conveniently in the area and decided to try this place out! I ordered the matcha latte and hojicha latte. Both are good but I think the hojicha latte was surprisingly better! You can find good matcha lattes in ktown but finding a delicious roasted hojicha latte can be harder. Parking is very limited and you might have to find street parking. I got the strawberry matcha and it was delicious! I love the quality of the matcha, and overall it satisfied every expectation, and the service was very efficient so I got my order fast. The times I've gone it's pretty crowded but I've always found a table somehow, and just be aware that their parking lot gets full fast, but you can just find street parking. The BEST matcha einspanner in LA (bold statement but I stand by it). I've tried most of the matcha einspanners in the ktown area...(memory look, about time, rny, etc.) the only other matcha einspanner that comes close is community goods, yeems, or rok. Free parking. Quick service. Free WiFi. Only downside is there's not that many seats and limited outlets, so if you want to do work I would suggest getting there early. read more

I got the matcha einspanner and the strawberry drink. The matcha einspanner was definitely the highlight: rich, earthy, and well balanced. I'd give it an 8.2/10. The strawberry drink was decent but nothing crazy, probably a 7.6/10. The ambiance was nice since you can see them make everything right in front of you, which adds to the experience. That said, the place felt a little dirty...some tables weren't wiped down, though it might've been because it was toward the end of the day. Overall, still a good spot, but a bit overhyped for the wait, limited seating, and slower drink service. read more

The matcha einspanner here is good! But, what really stood out IMO was the hojicha einspanner - don't sleep on this!! We visited on a Sunday immediately after they opened, and shortly after we ordered a bunch of people slowly started to fill the store. They're pretty popular / well-known for good reason, the presentation of their drinks are great!! Both of the einspanners were creamy and their respective flavors were very fragrant. The hojicha especially stood out - it was toasty, warm, nutty; this made for the perfect drink on a colder morning!! Big pro to DAMO: they have a huge parking lot. We didn't have an issue finding parking when visiting and that's always a rare find esp in KTown lol. read more

This place is super busy when we went, but for a reason. Their Matcha and Hojicha Einspanner was really good. The line is pretty long, but it moves pretty quickly. I'd come here more often if it wasn't right in k-town or if there were more parking. Even on weekdays, it's difficult to get parking. Other than that, the place was lively. Cute shop, but it was packed. Not many seats. In total, I probably waited around 25-30 minutes which isn't too bad. The staff were friendly. I'd give it a 3.5/5. Matcha Einspener - The matcha itself is actually bitter, but the cream top is super sweet--it balances out nicely. I'd say it's worth a try for around $8, though it's not the best matcha I've had. The service was quick and friendly. The place was clean and a nice place to sit and talk for a little bit. The strawberry matcha with the cream top was so delicious. Truly unreal. The strawberry was fresh and so flavorful. It paired so well with the matcha. The Hojicha was good but not great. The end just tasted like the syrup sweetener. Been here a couple of times with my family and boyfriend. There's some seating but beware it is a very popular spot. Recently went 20 minutes before close and the line still was out the door. Matcha latte: 8/10 I like my matcha more floral so it being slightly grassy subtracts 2 points. Other than that I didn't have any other issues and enjoyed my drink. Strawberry matcha latte: 8.5/10 I liked this one more because of the strawberry flavor. Their syrup is not artificial and seems to be made in house which is a plus. Strawberry matcha latte with strawberry cream top: 9/10 I tried my sister's drink, and the strawberry cream is delicious! I didn't order it myself because I was worried it would be too creamy for me to finish. Hojicha latte: 7/10 Don't remember too much about the hojicha and from what I can recall it was okay. Unfortunately, this was the worst matcha experience I have had in LA. I get that people have a bad day but the bleach blonde worker really needed an attitude check. She made our experience quite sour. Otherwise, my matcha (with oat milk) was also just chalky and not sifted well. As someone who does not believe in wasting food/drinks, I could not even finish this one. The only upside is the good amount of seating they have. Would not waste your time here. read more

Finally tried this spot and it was worth the wait! Pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon but the wait wasn't too long; the line moved fast. The menu had so many interesting options that it was so hard to decide, but we ended up ordering the matcha forest (matcha with chocolate cream top) and the chestnut einspanner (espresso, chesnut milk, chestnut cream). The matcha was really good and tasted high quality, and I loved the chocolate cream top. The chestnut drink just tasted like Starbucks to me though and I didn't get any chestnut flavor sadly. Would skip on that one next time and try something else! Both drinks were very sweet (desserty vibes) but also not watered down at all (definitely felt the caffeine after). Alt milk is extra charge. Back at DAMO, and it continues to be one of my favorite cafe stops in KTown. My go-to order is always either the Chocolate Forest or the Matcha Einspanner: Both are rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The Chocolate Forest, in particular, hits that sweet spot between indulgent and refreshing. If you're really into matcha, I'd rate this an 8/10 for the matcha alone. Parking is valet-only in the lot, which is pretty typical for the area, but you can definitely find street parking if you're willing to circle a bit or walk in from the residential side streets nearby. The plaza itself is also home to other cool spots, like Playground (KPop/Kbeauty spot) so it's a nice little corner to explore once you're there. DAMO keeps delivering great drinks, a chill vibe, and just enough variety to keep things interesting. read more

Everyone's raving about the matcha here and it didn't disappoint! Ordering was quick and I didn't have to wait too long for my drink. I got the einspanner, which I had to google what that meant :/ basically it's topped with a generous layer of whipped cream and a dusting of powder lol. There's a small parking lot which makes parking challenging but people seem to get in and out quick so patience is key. read more

Came on a Saturday around 12:45 and there was quite a line out the door. Took around 15 mins to order and another 5 mins for the drinks to come out. There's a decent amount of seating and we were luckily able to find a table. My friends and I all ordered the matcha einspanner. The cream top was delicious and the matcha was a nice green color. It was strong and okay though there was a weird bitter taste that wasn't my taste. We were all disappointed and agreed it didn't live up to the hype. My wife and I found DAMO on Yelp while looking for a place to grab afternoon coffee and tea. When we arrived and saw a line out the door, we mentally prepared for the worst. After parking in the crowded lot, the line had died down enough that we were actually able to wait inside, instead of out on the sidewalk in the hot afternoon sun. To my surprise, the line actually moved pretty quickly. It only paused occasionally when the staff had to stop taking new orders to catch up on making drinks. For such a small space, the team of five behind the counter worked very efficiently; I was genuinely impressed by how many orders they got through while we were there. When it was our turn to order, we found that many drinks on the menu had already sold out. Fortunately, the person taking our order was kind and helpful, and offered some great recommendations. Between the four of us, we shared two drinks: the strawberry matcha einspänner and the hojicha einspänner. The drinks here aren't cheap, but they're well-prepared and very tasty. The matcha had a strong flavor without being overly bitter, and the strawberry purée at the bottom added a nice touch of sweetness. The thick cream on top had a rich texture that paired well with the drink. Just make sure to sip through the foam rather than mixing it all in, so you can enjoy the layered flavors in one go. If you're a fan of hojicha, you'll love the roasted flavor of the hojicha cream. That said, for some reason, this drink came with way more ice than the strawberry matcha one. I'd definitely recommend asking for less ice, so it's easier to sip through and you don't dilute the flavor too quickly. Overall, DAMO is a solid spot for coffee or tea, but it's not somewhere I'd regularly go out of my way to visit. Be prepared for a wait, a tight space with limited seating, sticky tables that don't always get cleaned promptly due to high traffic, influencers taking up space and time filming content, a tricky parking situation, and premium pricing. Still, if you're nearby, it's worth stopping by once to try their drinks at least once. read more

DAMO is one of my go-to spots in DTLA. The service is consistently excellent, and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My personal favorite is the Hojicha Einspanner, though the matcha is also outstanding. The whole interaction was extremely matter-of-fact, making the place feel cold and entirely unwelcoming. The location itself has a heavy hipster vibe, so if that's your jam, you might actually enjoy the atmosphere they've put together. For me, though, the combination of weak coffee and poor service means it just isn't my kind of place. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

I really enjoyed it and could tell it was crafted with care. **Negatives:** Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by a rude interaction with one of the baristas. A female worker wearing a pink cardigan (you know who you are!) insisted I return the straw bucket to its rightful place. While I was in the process of doing so, she hastily grabbed the bucket, causing my drink to spill all over me and the floor. Instead of apologizing or offering any help, she turned her back and went straight back to preparing drinks. I stood there embarrassed, asking for a paper towel to clean myself and the area. Thankfully, a kind male barista stepped in. He not only cleaned up the spill but also remade my drink, which I truly appreciated. His helpful and gracious attitude salvaged an otherwise frustrating moment. To the barista in the pink cardigan: I understand the importance of keeping things organized, and I was already moving the bucket back as you asked. I've tried similar drinks at other spots, and nothing compares to how Damo does it. They've actually got me hooked to the point where I started making my own matcha at home, that's how you know it's serious. Service is cool and efficient nothing over the top, but they greet you and keep things moving. Even when it's busy, they work fast, which I appreciate. Trusting his expertise was the best decision we made that day because each sip and bite exceeded our expectations. We were surprised by how good the Mango Cream Matcha was. The drink had the perfect balance of mango sweetness complementing the rich matcha flavor. The Yuzu Espresso Tonic was also a refreshing drink, with a bold kick of espresso and a subtle hint of citrus from the yuzu. However, the star of the show was undoubtedly the Earl Grey Cake. It's a bit of a bummer that there isn't a location closer to the 626 area, where such high-quality matcha lattes seem scarce, at least from my experience. Damp is a cozy spot with some great drink options! I tried the matcha latte, which was decent--not too sweet and just the right amount of matcha flavor. But the real star was the hojicha latte, which had such a rich, toasty flavor and was perfectly creamy. It's definitely worth a visit if you're a fan of unique lattes! Demo Tea House is absolutely incredible! I ordered the Hazelnut Einspänner, and it was hands down the best drink I've ever had--rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere is just as amazing, giving off cozy Korean café vibes that I've been missing since moving back from South Korea. While waiting for the order, you can also watch them prepare your drink in line order, though many just skip to the end. I really enjoyed the light colors, interior decor, and organization of Stagger Coffee. The interior screams that Stagger really thought about both function and form; sitting may be a bit cramped at times, but it's K-town and foot traffic and visitor count is high. There's also some seating outdoors on the stone benches which can be nice until someone's smoking in the corridor. The iced latte? The first sips were good and bold, but this drink definitely felt more icy and watered down within 15 minutes. I'm not sure why but sip after sip, I felt less interested in drinking it. Perhaps I'll give this another try in the future, but for now this might be a one-time visit.

I also wanted a space with seating to study, so this place offered just what I was looking for. The entire second floor (where the cafe is located) is filled with tables, so finding a seat isn't an issue! There's a lot on the menu, so I want to come back and try the coffee lattes and Hojicha! Parking could be hit or miss. I ended up getting street parking, but they usually have free underground parking below the plaza with receipt validation (it was full when I got there).

However, I didn't feel like it stood out enough to go out of my way for it again. Wagyu Egg Sliders and Poke & Chips were the food options that I picked. The drink came out within a few minutes but the food took ~ 20 minutes before they brought it out. Both of the food items felt okay and not anything special as well. The poke was slightly lower on the list because they use tuna; could have been better with salmon. Overall, it was a pretty meh experience. WiFi is available, so it could be a working spot for those that need it. Tables were dirty given the volume of customers they had. I wanted to grab some coffee beans and they were out of stock at the time. The initial atmosphere seemed nice, so perhaps I should consider coming back on a less busy day.
