To be honest i was disappointed with the matcha... Why is this so hyped? I definitely prefer rok, airoma, vivot
I went to Damo around 2pm on a weekend, and the line was already starting to form out the door. Unfortunately, the line takes up a majority of the cafe space, along with the few sitting tables, so it was pretty difficult to find a spot to wait for my drink after ordering. The pickup area can also get blocked by the line or waiting area, which can make it a little awkward when you're trying to reach over someone to grab your drink. I ordered the Coconut Hojicha and the Matcha Einspanner. The Coconut Hojicha was refreshing, nutty, and definitely the standout of the two. It's such a fun twist on the typical matcha coconut drink, and I have to give Damo their flowers for creating something that feels unique. The Matcha Einspanner wasn't particularly stand-out compared to some of the other cafes in K-Town, but it was still a well-balanced drink with a nice mix of bitterness, sweetness, and creaminess. I can definitely see why so many people consider Damo one of their favorite cafes. Despite the crowded setup, the drinks are creative and thoughtfully done!
Absolutely obsessed with the Hojicha Coconut! This drink is DIVINE, so refreshing, creamy, and delicious. I could literally drink 10 of these! It's definitely a must-try, and I already can't wait to come back for another one. The cakes were just okay for me. I'd probably pass on them next time if I'm just getting something for myself, but they would make a cute gift or present for someone!
Matcha strawberry einspanner really good and creamy You can taste the matcha but it blends beautifully w the strawberry puree and cream top.very crowded when we stopped by. Not enough tables and no one was wiping them down either so it was sticky. Accepted apple pay n cc with no additional surcharge. Drinks came out quick and parking was free.
We ordered the Damo latte - an espresso shot with agave sweetener and the Matcha cream top. The espresso flavor wasn't terribly strong and the matcha tasted alright to me There was a long line of customers and it's a pretty popular Korean drink shop in Koreatown!
Solid matcha place in ktown!! There's so many places around and it's a saturated market so I get the competition... but this place holds its own! Matcha is rich and bold, there's a good amount so it's not weak. Milk ratio is good so it's not diluted at all. The cream top is nice and thick and doesn't melt into the drink! Matcha Cream Top ($7.75)-- I looooove me a nice and thick cream top and this place does it amazingly. It's thick and perfectly sweetened and doesn't melt with the drink/ice. It stays perfectly thick and still and above the matcha unless you mix it in. The matcha is also really nice and rich. None of the bland or grassy taste. Just genuine good matcha! Chocolate Forest ($7.75)-- Basically same as above but the cream on top tastes like Milo/Ovaltine mixed in. It's a nice and sweet nostalgic taste. Not a hint of bitterness so if you want mocha/dark chocolate this is not the one for you. It's more happy kid hot chocolate vibes. Overall I really like this place for their matcha and would get it again. Pricing is steep but all good matcha goes for around $8 nowadays. Theres a shared parking lot (free if you go in the afternoon) but otherwise street parking.
got the strawberry matcha!! the cream top was delicious and so glad it didn't make the entire matcha drink heavy bc i just wanted something sweet and refreshing! the service was nice and quick! got my drink within 5-7 mins after ordering!! the inside was on the smaller side and it got busy/crowded fast so recommend getting your drinks to go!
I stopped by DAMO and ordered a matcha latte. The matcha had a vibrant, earthy flavor that was stronger than most matcha places I've been to. I appreciated the quality of the tea, and the matcha powder and cream on top was not too overly sweet. My friend and I were able to enjoy our drinks inside the shop, as there were plenty of tables available for people to chat with friends or study or work inside.
Visited this spot on a Wednesday at noon and they constantly had a flow of customers coming in and out. There's only a handful of tables and chairs with some stool seating against the front window. Ordered a matcha latte and I kind of regret not adding the cream foam after, but it was already a $7 cup of matcha. Upon mixing and tasting it left a bitter aftertaste so I didn't really enjoy it. I added two packs of raw sugar to try and alter it but I probably should have asked for sweetener or cream top because it still left a bitter aftertaste. Service was lackluster, not warm and friendly, but pretty straightforward. I was able to snag a parking spot in the lot but it wasn't plentiful as the plaza is busy shared with the salt bread shop.

My new favorite spot for decadent matcha and hojicha drinks! The cream top on the hojicha einspanner was so creamy and thick, and it was also the perfect level of sweetness. The strawberry matcha einspanner was also yummy and had a great presentation The space is pretty small but there are a few seats available. The line was around 20 minutes long on a Saturday afternoon. Like most spots in ktown, the parking lot is limited and you'll likely need to find street parking, but it is definitely worth the hype!
This was our last stop of our mini cafe tour when leaving LA and headed back home. We came shortly after opening, so there was plenty of parking and it wasn't crazy crowded yet. Upon entering the place is clean, sleek, and modern. We were greeted right away. I already knew I was leaving with 2 drinks for the drive back home. I ordered: 1. Cold brew vanilla: Delicious, I love that tou can see the vanilla cream on top. This was definitely what I needed to wake me up. 2. Matcha einspener: I tasted this and immediately loved it when leaving the store. I saved it for last. It was so light and refreshing. I could easily drink it all day if they had a bigger size lol. I was hoping to try the seasonal mango cream matcha, but sadly it was gone. 3. Pastries: I wanted to try the sampler but I don't thinking they had it yet. I tried one of the cinnamon pastries. It was soft and very cinnamony. Overall, it was a great experience and I'll be back soon.

Very cutesy and clean aesthetic, places to sit inside and a bench to sit outside! Everyone was really nice! Lots of good loose leaf tea options, tea sets, and super yummy amazing quality drinks! The matcha was so flavorful and high quality and the fruit in the drinks (strawberry or mango depending on what you get) tastes super fresh like it was just cut and NOT syrupy at all! if you get cream in your drink it is so fluffy and just the right amount of slightly sweet! The DAGWA sampler was not for everyone most of my group did not really like it but I really enjoyed the fun and subtle flavors so it really depends on your group! I will be back to try the Damo waffle and for more drinks (I was SO SAD when I finished my drink) read more

Wow! This was like drinking a nutty marshmallow, but also magical. I was perfectly caffeinated after, not at all jittery. It was super busy when I came but it looked like the stay in tea service would be a really fun experience, so I will be back for that read more
Came in a Sunday morning and there wasn't much of a wait. But even if there was a wait, it would have been worth it. The matcha Einspener was perfect. I got it 25% sweet with almond milk and it was great. The cream top is so light and fluffy and it compliments the matcha perfectly. The place is in a shopping center with plenty of parking and it's really nice and clean inside. read more

After running errands out all day in DTLA, Damo was a great place to stop by for refreshing drinks. I didn't want caffeine so I ordered a mango tornado, while my husband had a matcha tea. The matcha is rich and high quality. The tornado was refreshing but not too much fancier than a special soda. The place was packed and seating was hard to come by. Service is good. Not sure if I'd go out of my way to come here, but it was good for what it was. read more
The cafe is situated in a busy area of restaurants and stores, parking can be challenging. The cafe is small with few tables and chairs. I don't think it is suitable for studying (I didn't see any outlets). We ordered Matcha Latte-- perfection, the matcha was well-blended; and had the seasonal Chestnut Matcha Einspener-- the hint of chestnut with the foam on top was very delicious. The quality of matcha in this cafe was really A+ and would definitely be coming back. read more
At Damo, you need to Da-Mok-uh (다먹어). 3.5/5 | Matcha Latte, Hojicha Latte | $6.5, $6.5 Food: The Matcha Latte was great! If you like strong matcha flavors in your latte, this drink is for you. It's definitely not as sweet as others I have had, but that's exactly the reason I enjoyed it. It was "not too sweet" :) The Hojicha latte was great as well, but my personal preference goes to the matcha latte. Service: The cashier spoke both English and Korean. I was speaking in Korean right before I ordered, and the cashier spoke to me first in Korean when I went up to order. Ambiance: A couple tables inside the cafe with a few seats by the window area. Huge parking lot that is free, which is a much added bonus in LA. They have a lot of tea related decorations inside the cafe as well. read more
Just the best matcha latte I've ever had!!! Seriously such high quality tasting matcha, it makes me want to go back to my other matcha reviews to adjust because this is the bar. My boyfriend likes to mix the cream in his drink, but I drink it as is so I still get that strong matcha flavor. They use ceremonial matcha and everything is made to order. Line can be long because of its popularity. Some seats inside and I noticed some people bring their laptops to study/do work, but it isn't a necessarily quiet environment. read more

Damo is located in Koreatown. The store specializes in matcha and is so aesthetically cute! They have a so many drinks on the menu that I was so excited to try and even seasonal flavors like coconut water + matcha. I ended up ordering strawberry matcha. The sweetness of the strawberry matcha was perfect and I really liked the taste of the matcha. I loved the caffeine from the matcha itself but the texture was pretty grainy and the large ice cubes made it super difficult to mix. This is a great matcha cafe and can't to try more flavors! read more
Came by this past week due to the reviews (which looked great). I have to say, the hype is real. First, there is ample parking as DAMO is situated in a mini plaza/shopping center. A lot of other trendy locations do not have parking as easy as this location does. Secondly, the interior is so nice - it's very modern and fresh. Good amount of seating too! Finally, the service and drinks were great! Kind/efficient employees, we did not have to wait long to receive our order despite how busy it was. The iced matcha latte and strawberry matcha latte were phenomenal! Heads up, the drinks are not too sweet (we did not mind at all, and actually appreciated this). Would definitely come back to this establishment! read more
Hojicha Einspener: 1/5.. overrated in my opinion. It really was just tea and cream. I guess I was hoping for something more sweeter. Chestnut Einspener 5/5. I would definitely come back and recommend this if you're feeling something sweet and creamy. read more

I always love visiting Damo in K-town! There's usually a line, but it moves quickly. The strawberry matcha and mango matcha are absolutely amazing; I can never choose between the two! They use fresh strawberries and mango with chunks, unlike other places that rely on artificial syrups. You can really taste the difference. The signature da-gwa and Damo waffle are must-tries. The waffles have a unique mugwort flavor, making it delicious! Every drink l've tried-strawberry einspener, chocolate forest, strawberry matcha, and mango matcha-has been fantastic. I love that the matcha is made to order for that extra freshness. Cons: - Parking can be tough to find - Seating fills up quickly Definitely a spot l'll keep returning to! read more

Best matcha I've had in LA! I came in on a saturday afternoon, and the line was out the door. I waited about 15 minutes before I got to order, and I got a matcha einspanner. The matcha flavor was very strong, and the cream top was creamy and perfect balance to the matcha. It was very good, and I wish I had another! There isn't a ton of seating inside and very packed, so it's more of a takeout place. read more

Came here on a matcha crawl but it was quite busy and wouldn't call this the best place for studying or chatting due to how loud it was! We tried the matcha einspanner but weren't impressed by the flavor, as it wasn't as good as the other places we had been before, but that is just our preference. The wait wasn't very long, so I would say service was good! read more
This is one of those non-chain neighborhood places. It's so unique. They serve a large variety of hot teas, cold teas, and lattes. I feel like they have drinks I don't see anywhere else, which I appreciate. I can't wait to try their "Sunday Brunch" drink next time. It's a Thursday afternoon and it's packed with people ordering iced matcha lattes. I ordered the Hojicha latte and enjoyed it. It was the perfect strength and sweetness. I was greeted when I walked in the door and the baristas were helpful and pleasant. It wasn't hard for me to park in the parking lot at this time, but sometimes at night it's only valet, so keep that in mind. read more
Matcha really is phenomenal here. It's a deep green, lightly sweet with a hint of grassy note. It's a very busy spot but the baristas do their best to move quickly and get the drinks out asap. Parking is a nightmare though. read more

Cute litte modern cafe. We got the chestnut matcha latter einspanner and the strawberry einspanner. The drink is prett, delicious, flavorful, and the presentation is so pretty! The service was great as well. The cafe is small and busy which can be a packed. read more
Such a wonderful cafe spot to try. I got the strawberry Einspanner and it was so light and lovely. If you enjoy strawberries or more specifically a strawberry milkshake I believe that you'd enjoy the drink. Friends said that the Hojicha was really wonderful as well. There are limited spots for seating when it is busier but we went on a weekday mid-day so we were able to sit and enjoy for a bit. read more

I went here on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy, but the drinks were made so fast! There were many people eating, drinking, and studying. It's a diverse environment. The menu is simple yet extensive and unique. I tried the matcha einspanner with oatmilk and it was delicious! It is an iced matcha latte with some sweet cream foam added on top and a dash of matcha powder on the foam. The matcha was strong in taste (but not bitter), but the drink was also sweet enough and enjoyable. My friend tried the strawberry matcha einspanner and she really enjoyed it. She said the strawberry puree added sweetness to the beverage. Their coffee smells delicious and strong, but I did not get to try it. I would like to go back to try a few more drinks and pastries. Average cost of a drink here range from $7-9 (this all depends on additions and substituions). The cafe is located in a plaza with parking, but fills up quickly! Street parking is harder to find. read more

My friends and I arrived at around 2:30-3 ish pm on a Sunday and the place was packeddd. There was a long line outside that didn't move super quickly, which was understandable. We were able to order around 3:10. Despite the long line, I felt like we got our drinks pretty quickly - I think we waited around 5 minutes after ordering. I got the strawberry einspener while my friends got the strawberry matcha and mango cream matcha - They both loved their drinks. I think we saw on their Instagram that they're discontinuing their mango cream matcha as well? I liked my drink but wouldn't get it again - it's not exactly the best strawberry milk drink I've had, and it's also pretty expensive for a small drink ($7.75, it's an extra $0.75 for milk substitution - I got oat milk). This was a nice place to try while we were in LA for the day, and the overall ambiance was very simple, minimalistic, and refreshing. Most people seem to like their matcha here, so that's what I'd recommend getting, and if you prefer your strawberry milk to be less sweet, come here (I like mine on the sweeter side, my favorite drink is the seasonal strawberry de leche from 85 for reference). read more

This is one of my favorite cafes in Koreatown. It's always clean, there's a few tables to sit at, and their drinks are delicious. I like how many traditional Korean options they have, whether it's the tea ceremony or the little snacks. The Hojicha Einspanner is my favorite here, and even if I want to try something new, I always end up getting this. It's just the right amount of cream and tea, and it's not too sweet. The Damo Waffle is probably my favorite food item. It's made with mugwort and has a nice chewy, mochi texture. Worth the visit if you're in town and looking to get a cute little drink! read more
Portion sizes and pricing here aren't equivalent to each other hence the one missing star. They only serve one sized drinks. You are paying 6.75 -8 dollars per drink depending on what you get for basically a Tall size that Starbucks provides. If the size of the drink was at least a Grande size cup that Starbucks provides it would feel a bit more equal in regards to the price they charge. I love the Hojicha latte or the Einspanner it's so robust, different, & flavorful. For those who enjoy tea I recommend this! I def would recommend coming back but the pricing and size HAS to get better. Service was as quick as it can be and I love watching how passionate each pour per cup is. It's a popular tea place for people to chill at in Korea town, so keep in mind there potentially will be lines. Service was relatively good and fast. I ordered the yuzu matcha set and it's more of a traditional tea set with loose green tea leaves rather than matcha powder. The tea set is an experience itself for people who rarely delve into traditional tea culture and can serve as a fun introduction. The tea is nice and refreshing, especially during this time of year. The tea set also comes dried jujubes and a rice cake to consume with your tea. Overall, if i'm around the area, I would visit Damo again. read more
One of the best matcha places in LA! This place is poppin' and so usually doesn't offer much seating (or standing room for that matter). I came here twice - once for the mango cream matcha and another for the matcha einspener. The price is pretty steeep - but the drinks are tasty! For both drinks, the matcha is smoothly blended into the milk, and the cream is fluffy and not too sweet! Note: If you get less ice or no ice, they don't fill the drink up to the brim. If you are unsatisfied with your drink, they are willing to remake it. read more

First time here after seeing delicious photos of the einspanner! I love the cream top of the einspanner and so I got three different flavors (matcha/hochija/latte) of the einspanner. Really wanted to love it but the flavor of the drinks weren't strong enough to balance the cream. It became too cream heavy and didn't get the flavor of the drink. Plenty of parking and a few tables inside. Glad I tried it once, but wouldn't recommend. read more

Afternoon coffee break always sounds good. Trying new coffee shops around Koreatown. Hojica Einspinner had a unique taste. I had to sip a few times to let the taste wear on me. Not a coffee but has caffeine. I like how the coffee shops try bringing new and unique menues to the tradional coffee and tea list. Service was fast. It's a quiet place, chill. read more

Small cafe with a simple and white aesthetic. Super cute and it was crowded with teens and 20 year olds. I ordered the Strawberry Einspener (cream top) with a shot of matcha. My drink was $8.75 and was ready in under 5 min. It looked really pretty and tasted really creamy and sweet from the strawberry puree. The matcha added a slight green earthiness and the flavor profiles all worked well with each other. The drink was not too sweet, which was perfect for my Asian taste buds. Damo has been on my list to try for awhile now, and now that I've had it, I don't think I can ever come to Ktown and not stop by. I got the Matcha Einspanner, and oh my goodness it was delicious! From the earthiness of the matcha to the subtly sweet foam on top, it was truly delicious! The next time I am in SoCal, I will have to stop by to try some of their other drinks. read more

This review is based on their matcha drinks. I've tried them a few times and I've left a little disappointed every time. They have a very earthy taste and not really sweet at all. I tried with the cream top today and that helped balance it out but I probably wouldn't try it again. I would recommend swapping out the agave for syrup if you're not a fan of the earthy taste. The service is really good though as the barista recommended the cream top and it was my favorite I've tried here so far. I also really liked the spooky theme presentation for the drink. They do have a parking lot which is super convenient for the area, I'd maybe just come back to try the coffees. read more

But this place got it ON LOCK. make sure to mix ;). - Genmaicha hot tea: love the cute tea experience and would def recommend if you prefer tea :-) Service: very friendly and nice! You are able to see the powders not being properly whisked, they had also got my order wrong and when I tried getting a receipt the person had walked away without even confirming my order. Which lead to us waiting an extra 15 minutes to receive our right order. The drinks were good tho, and it seems very popular. Wouldn't be my top matcha choice in the area, but is a good try. Hygiene isn't top priority as workers would come in and touch through things in the work bar counter , also found hair in our drinks! We see the workers touching their hair and then continue their work, I work in food industry and hair should be up, and if you touch hair or exit and come back to the work station you have to wash your hands! very disturbing read more
