It tasted better after I mixed it a little and tasted better than the matcha but definitely not one of the good ones I had. I get they are trying for a simplistic vibe, but the interior make me feel like this place is a pop up and not here to stay. Everything seems so "temporary" and boring. It was so good that I decided to come here again. The second time I came in a weekend and it was quite busy that there was a line. I got the mango matcha latte this time and I noticed the ice and drink ratio is off. There was so much ice that I finished my drink quite fast. It was pretty sweet and tasted good but I didn't like that majority of the cup was filled with ice. I enjoyed how they were not overly sweet which didn't mask the natural matcha and hojicha tea flavor. Both drinks had a clean taste, but I liked the hojicha which was more earthy. The interior is on the smaller side, so many of the seats were full. When it gets busier, it can be a little noisy but was not a major problem when having conversations with others. TL;DR dunno what a einspanner is but it was good, especially their signature matcha hazelnut einspanner First off, would have loved to try their hojicha einspanner as that seemed to be the hot drink, however, they ran out by Sat at noon which seemed tragic given the weekend is likely when they're busiest. Regardless, the alternatives we got were easily quality in their own right and worthy of their recognition If I had to choose between the two choices I would stick with the matcha hazelnut einspanner as the nuttiness of hazelnut mellowed out the sometimes too floral/earthier notes of matcha. That isn't to say the latte einspanner isn't good and would be a first-choice drink in other regards... if they weren't $7 each The drinks are very good, matcha is likely close to ceremonial grade if it isn't with a vibrant green and very little astringency. I wasn't sure if they used a syrup for their hazelnut but it was well incorporated and didn't overpower the matcha nor was it overpowered. As for the einspanner, which I presume is the whipped cream on top, it helped compliment the mellow flavors of the drink. It adds a bit of sweetness that is common with Asian drinks (ever so slight but not too sweet like Western drinks). There may have been some salt to help accentuate the sweetness but it was harder to discern This is a must-try place in LA if you're in the area. It's well priced although it can hurt your wallet. I think I accidentally added in another topping (e.g. alternative milk) which brought the drink price up to $9 so definitely not an everyday drink but a good place if you enjoy something more unique The vibe of this place is also great, it seemed family-owned, or at least the staff was all around the same age, and the auntie/owner? working in the back was close friends with some of the patrons to the point where she came out and greeted some of them at the request of the front house (cashier and baristas). Saw this place on TikTok and wanted to give it a try because people said it's really good! I think they're better known for their coffee, but I opted for a strawberry matcha latte. I always find it so interesting that two people can live through the same moment and have totally different experiences. I literally read a review where someone said the drinks are "ok" and that the really enjoyed the mugwort waffle. I had the exact opposite experience!!!
