To be honest i was disappointed with the matcha... Why is this so hyped? I definitely prefer rok, airoma, vivot
I went to Damo around 2pm on a weekend, and the line was already starting to form out the door. Unfortunately, the line takes up a majority of the cafe space, along with the few sitting tables, so it was pretty difficult to find a spot to wait for my drink after ordering. The pickup area can also get blocked by the line or waiting area, which can make it a little awkward when you're trying to reach over someone to grab your drink. I ordered the Coconut Hojicha and the Matcha Einspanner. The Coconut Hojicha was refreshing, nutty, and definitely the standout of the two. It's such a fun twist on the typical matcha coconut drink, and I have to give Damo their flowers for creating something that feels unique. The Matcha Einspanner wasn't particularly stand-out compared to some of the other cafes in K-Town, but it was still a well-balanced drink with a nice mix of bitterness, sweetness, and creaminess. I can definitely see why so many people consider Damo one of their favorite cafes. Despite the crowded setup, the drinks are creative and thoughtfully done!
Absolutely obsessed with the Hojicha Coconut! This drink is DIVINE, so refreshing, creamy, and delicious. I could literally drink 10 of these! It's definitely a must-try, and I already can't wait to come back for another one. The cakes were just okay for me. I'd probably pass on them next time if I'm just getting something for myself, but they would make a cute gift or present for someone!
Matcha strawberry einspanner really good and creamy You can taste the matcha but it blends beautifully w the strawberry puree and cream top.very crowded when we stopped by. Not enough tables and no one was wiping them down either so it was sticky. Accepted apple pay n cc with no additional surcharge. Drinks came out quick and parking was free.
We ordered the Damo latte - an espresso shot with agave sweetener and the Matcha cream top. The espresso flavor wasn't terribly strong and the matcha tasted alright to me There was a long line of customers and it's a pretty popular Korean drink shop in Koreatown!
Solid matcha place in ktown!! There's so many places around and it's a saturated market so I get the competition... but this place holds its own! Matcha is rich and bold, there's a good amount so it's not weak. Milk ratio is good so it's not diluted at all. The cream top is nice and thick and doesn't melt into the drink! Matcha Cream Top ($7.75)-- I looooove me a nice and thick cream top and this place does it amazingly. It's thick and perfectly sweetened and doesn't melt with the drink/ice. It stays perfectly thick and still and above the matcha unless you mix it in. The matcha is also really nice and rich. None of the bland or grassy taste. Just genuine good matcha! Chocolate Forest ($7.75)-- Basically same as above but the cream on top tastes like Milo/Ovaltine mixed in. It's a nice and sweet nostalgic taste. Not a hint of bitterness so if you want mocha/dark chocolate this is not the one for you. It's more happy kid hot chocolate vibes. Overall I really like this place for their matcha and would get it again. Pricing is steep but all good matcha goes for around $8 nowadays. Theres a shared parking lot (free if you go in the afternoon) but otherwise street parking.
got the strawberry matcha!! the cream top was delicious and so glad it didn't make the entire matcha drink heavy bc i just wanted something sweet and refreshing! the service was nice and quick! got my drink within 5-7 mins after ordering!! the inside was on the smaller side and it got busy/crowded fast so recommend getting your drinks to go!
Pretty solid matcha spot that I'm more willing to go to now that the lines have died down :) We got the iced matcha latte and matcha einspanner, both half sweet which was the perfect level. Drinks come out pretty quickly too! There is a moderate amount of seating for socializing or studying. We came on a Saturday morning and were lucky enough find a parking spot in the lot (which is shared by a lot of places including the new bakery Out of Ordi)
Visited this spot on a Wednesday at noon and they constantly had a flow of customers coming in and out. There's only a handful of tables and chairs with some stool seating against the front window. Ordered a matcha latte and I kind of regret not adding the cream foam after, but it was already a $7 cup of matcha. Upon mixing and tasting it left a bitter aftertaste so I didn't really enjoy it. I added two packs of raw sugar to try and alter it but I probably should have asked for sweetener or cream top because it still left a bitter aftertaste. Service was lackluster, not warm and friendly, but pretty straightforward. I was able to snag a parking spot in the lot but it wasn't plentiful as the plaza is busy shared with the salt bread shop.
I stopped by DAMO and ordered a matcha latte. The matcha had a vibrant, earthy flavor that was stronger than most matcha places I've been to. I appreciated the quality of the tea, and the matcha powder and cream on top was not too overly sweet. My friend and I were able to enjoy our drinks inside the shop, as there were plenty of tables available for people to chat with friends or study or work inside.
One of my top 3 favorite matcha spots in LA. The matcha and hojicha always come out consistent and strong
Very delicious matcha and flavor. Strawberry is super good and flavorful. So yummy love it
My new favorite spot for decadent matcha and hojicha drinks! The cream top on the hojicha einspanner was so creamy and thick, and it was also the perfect level of sweetness. The strawberry matcha einspanner was also yummy and had a great presentation The space is pretty small but there are a few seats available. The line was around 20 minutes long on a Saturday afternoon. Like most spots in ktown, the parking lot is limited and you'll likely need to find street parking, but it is definitely worth the hype!
I've heard so many great things about this cafe and finally got to try it out! The parking for this cafe isn't too big and a little hectic. I'm more of a coffee girl but decided to try out the hojicha einspanner. It wasn't too sweet & the tea flavor was really strong, which I like. I'm also not a huge matcha fan, but actually really liked the matcha einspanner that my friend got. You can definitely taste the quality in these drinks. Overall, the drinks were great, I loved the minimalist aesthetic of the cafe, and the service was really friendly & quick as well. read more
Damo has such a clean and aesthetic interior. There's a good amount of seating but gets very packed later in the day. My friend got the Hojicha Einspener and I got the Strawberry Matcha Einspener. Mine was a bit on the sweeter side bc of the strawberry jam, but the matcha helped balance it out a bit. My friend loved the Hojicha and said it was very aromatic and earthy. The croissant and Damo waffle, however, fell short of our expectations. The croissant had a strange flavor and the waffle was so hard to the point that it broke my fork! We ate it right when it came out, so I'm not sure what happened. I would def come back for the drinks and skip the pastries next time. They have free parking in a small lot, which is a plus in ktown! read more

Pros: There's free parking in this plaza which is such a plus in this area. The aesthetics are really strong and simple. I liked the service and the seating arrangements. Cons: I'm going to be honest the drinks are pretty small and around 7 dollars each so I personally don't think it's that worth it. Hojicha einspener (cream top) 3/5: I really wanted to like it, but the foam was super sweet and there was just a lot of it. The tea itself was good, but I just felt that the cream and tea didn't blend well. I really liked the vibes and it feels like a very relaxed spot to hang out. read more
I like the taste of cold brew latte, usually other coffee shops cant produce cold brew latte with the milk. This is sweet but just enough to taste the cold brew. Service is fast and good. Only downside is small space. I feel like this is a common trend for coffee shop since its popping up new coffee place every corner lol. read more
i've been wanting to try this place for forever! i was afraid there was going to be an extremely long line but thankfully there wasn't. i would say the ambiance of the cafe is a little noisy and not the perfect place to really study and catch up but i would say the drinks were solid! i got the matcha einspanner with almond milk and i loved the creamy top and the matcha flavor. i would definitely say it's on the sweeter side also. i def would come back and try their other drinks! i also love that there's parking!!! read more

It was midday and my wife and I wanted to sit down and have some tea and snacks. She found this small spot so we decided to head over there. Upon entering, I seriously felt like I was transported back in time to my high school days, hanging out with friends in the quad. I felt so out of place with all the young people but this told me to give the place a try. We placed our orders for tea expecting two glasses. It was served an entire kit. Don't get me wrong, others may enjoy this but I just wanted my drink and not have to take multiple steps to brew my own drink. Call me spoiled. The system was simple but it was impossible to not make a mess and again, too many steps just for a small cup of tea. Two orders of tea literally took up the majority of table space. We also ordered the snack sampler. It was good but you can find most of these in the snack section at the market. After sitting down for a bit, we decided to leave and my hearing level returned to normal. Geez I'm old. read more

I will drive to DAMO for a matcha regardless of whatever I have going on. It's that good. Loooove their matcha. They don't use the bullshit nutty matcha all these places carry now. It's earthy and delicious and so smooth. It's the best matcha in all of LA, in my opinion. I always stray to try new stuff but Damo, you have my whole heart! Their seasonal matcha drinks were excellent and also their hojicha cannot be topped. I hope they start selling their matcha in retail tins! read more

the best matcha i've had in la so far... yays: aesthetic interior, fast service, quality matcha nays: limited parking, limited seating, small store what we got: ginger matcha latte - 9.5/10 great combo matcha latte - 9/10 vibrant and strong matcha matcha einspänner - 9/10 yummy cream final thoughts: if you're in the area, it's a definite stop. the matcha is more on the earthy end, not too sweet, and the color is beautiful! (no milky matcha here) pricing for the size of the drinks they gave us was pretty reasonable!! if you're able to snag a seat, it's a very chill study/work spot, but otherwise seems more like a grab and go. def recommend! read more

Hojicha latte and ssuk dduk (mugwort rice cake) waffle !! So good. A cute new cafe in town! They opened yesterday. A bright + clean space, & dessert items are served in cute plates. Owners are really sweet and friendly. I loved the decor with traditional Korean elements. They offer espresso drinks, einspanner with in-house made cream (so good!! I don't like cream but theirs is the perfect amount of creaminess + sweetness), tea, tea lattes. Teas are from Art of Tea, OSULLOC (Korean brand), Rishi, and a Japanese brand I'm not familiar with. Coffee is from The Little Marionette. Hojicha latte was really good!! They also serve dessert/tea foods like gotgam (dried persimmons), rice cake waffles served with red bean & housemade cream. Gotgam's got cream cheese & walnut bits in the middle. The owner lady rolls them in one by one..! Da 茶 means tea, mo 恈 means to desire. What a fitting name. Free parking onsite. Go here!! I'm definitely going back to try more items from their menu. read more
AMAZING service -- I had forgotten to order oat milk and had asked for the adjustment and was ready to pay the difference but they said it was on the house they were very busy but made sure to tend to everyone and greeted everyone who walked in. Food and drinks were also amazing! Will definitely return. read more

Ordered the matcha and hojicha einspanner and both were great! They weren't too sweet. The hojicha had a strong roasted flavor and the matcha was refreshing. The salted cream top made the drinks so much creamier. read more

DAMO matcha is amazing~~ I tried a little bit of each from my friends, and my favorite was the classic iced matcha. The other drinks were also really vibrant, and Hojicha was actually soo good. Service is amazing and the staff seem very friendly. I will say it gets extremely busy and crowded, so we got very lucky finding a table to fit the 4 of us! We went around 4pm and they were constantly taking orders. Ambiance is amazing for catching up with friends, and I think I would also love to study here someday. read more
Been meaning to try their matcha after hearing so many good things. I got the matcha einspanner and my partner got the espresso tonic. The cream top is THICK I don't know why I ordered this but would prefer without the cream top next time, however, the matcha was still good. My partner really enjoyed his espresso tonic and we even purchased a bag of beans and he said those were his favorite beans he's bought so far. Seating is limited and parking varies on the time of day. Will return soon! read more

The interior was a bit cramped due to the amount of people, but they maximized their space so it didn't feel too crowded. When we were looking at the menu, the employee promptly offered recommendations, which I appreciated. As for the matcha itself, it's MILKY and very true to its earthy tones. It wasn't as sweet as I'm used to, if you want to try a RICH version, come here. read more

Hojicha cream top has great hojicha flavor without being overly heavy! The lines fluctuated from short to out the door while we were there, so plan for a potential wait. There are a couple tables inside to chill or work at, and wifi is available too. I'd love to try the other cream tops and other categories of the menu. Would come back! read more
Decided to try out this place because of a tik tok video I saw :P Parking: plentiful in the plaza lot Ambiance: small cafe but utilizes their space well. I went in the morning so it was very quiet, even with the music Service: it seemed like there was only one lady working the entire store, but she was quick and very friendly to everyone. She made my drink and packed my food with lots of care. Food: I ordered the mango matcha and dagwa set. The matcha was really good and I loved the bits of fresh mango in the drink. The only thing about it is that the cream is a little too thick and heavy for my liking so it was hard to sip the entire drink without all of the cream. Dagwa set was simple and delicious. My favorite were the persimmon pieces. Overall, great experience at this place. I'll definitely try out one of their coffee options next time. read more

I ordered the iced hojicha latte, slightly sweetened and it came with a very well-flavored hojicha sweet cream. Both drink and cold cream was just the right amount of sweetness (drink sweetness adjustable to your liking). I've been to many trendy tea and coffee places in LA county and almost always it is too sweet (muting the flavor of the coffee or tea) even after adjustment. The space is beautiful but the parking lot is limited. Service was decent. I cane to this place because they offered hojicha. I appreciate the uniqueness of the menu. read more
very nice very fresh very good quality ceremonial grade matcha -- the house special matcha einspanner was surprisingly better than most matcha drinks i've had. would definitely come back more often if the parking/café itself wasn't so tiny nor that pricey! happy to have tried !! read more

One of the best matcha lattes that I have ever had! Very authentic! The matcha is made very well. It's not too sweet nor too bitter. The ambience of the shop is calm and relaxing! Every time my husband or I go the service has been one of the best! They take their time making the drinks and are very consistent on the taste. read more

I love this place so much it is my go to matcha spot in LA. I usually get the hojicha einspaner or the strawberry matcha with the cream top. Although it is expensive I think it is really worth it occasionally. I also love the ambiance as the inside is very pretty. There is also free parking as well which I personally think is so rare in ktown. The servers were also very kind and they make them quick. read more

The drinks here are very good but the service is not the best. We come every weekend and the wait is always a little long, usually 10-15 min for two drinks, which we're completely okay with since they can get busy, but this time we waited 45 min for our two drinks (strawberry eispener and iced hanrabong tea). We got our tea and pastry after 40 min of waiting but when we noticed everyone else who had ordered after us get their drinks, we realized they forgot about the strawberry eispener. So we asked one of the workers and she realized they had forgotten about it. She made it in literally 2 min lol she also started using whole milk to make it but we quickly told her we had paid extra for almond milk. And after all that, all they said was sorry and gave me a straw w my drink before they quickly moved onto the next customer. It just left a bad taste in my mouth- I wish they would've been more apologetic/empathetic. So very disappointing bc we really like their drinks! I would recommend coming here if you have the time to wait for your drinks. My husband thinks they have one of the best americanos in ktown and I've always enjoyed all the teas and drinks I've gotten PS there is a parking lot but it's usually full on the weekends. There is usually street parking though! The coffee shop is also a little small and only has a few tables inside read more

I could definitely taste the matcha in the matcha einspanner so that's good. The strawberry matcha latte was good too but the strawberry bits are overpowering (yummy nonetheless). The place itself is adorable as well :) The sleeves, cups, tables, decor, SO CUTE. read more

I swear the coffee shops in ktown always hit and DAMO is no exception. I would definitely come here if you're into more sweet or tea based drinks, as the coffee itself is so so in my opinion. That said, the cream top drinks and Matcha are amazing and well worth a try. They also have a nice selection of pastries, which they plate in a really cute way. The service is also very friendly and helpful. I don't think I would recommend this spot for working during the week, as the seating inside is quite limited and with very few outlets. But if you are catching up with a friend, this can be a very cute spot to meet up at! read more

I hate how I make matcha at home and yet, can justify $8 matcha latte here... it's THAT good. My go-to is the matcha latte with hojicha cream top. You can actually order the matcha einspaner and swap out the vanilla cream top for any other flavor for free. The strawberry one tastes like a strawberry pocky... delicious! Everytime I come here, the drinks are consistently yummy. Staff is friendly and quick, I never feel like I'm waiting a long time even when it's packed. I haven't had much matcha in LA, but from everyone I've talked to who's been here, this is their favorite. read more
