To be honest i was disappointed with the matcha... Why is this so hyped? I definitely prefer rok, airoma, vivot
I went to Damo around 2pm on a weekend, and the line was already starting to form out the door. Unfortunately, the line takes up a majority of the cafe space, along with the few sitting tables, so it was pretty difficult to find a spot to wait for my drink after ordering. The pickup area can also get blocked by the line or waiting area, which can make it a little awkward when you're trying to reach over someone to grab your drink. I ordered the Coconut Hojicha and the Matcha Einspanner. The Coconut Hojicha was refreshing, nutty, and definitely the standout of the two. It's such a fun twist on the typical matcha coconut drink, and I have to give Damo their flowers for creating something that feels unique. The Matcha Einspanner wasn't particularly stand-out compared to some of the other cafes in K-Town, but it was still a well-balanced drink with a nice mix of bitterness, sweetness, and creaminess. I can definitely see why so many people consider Damo one of their favorite cafes. Despite the crowded setup, the drinks are creative and thoughtfully done!
Absolutely obsessed with the Hojicha Coconut! This drink is DIVINE, so refreshing, creamy, and delicious. I could literally drink 10 of these! It's definitely a must-try, and I already can't wait to come back for another one. The cakes were just okay for me. I'd probably pass on them next time if I'm just getting something for myself, but they would make a cute gift or present for someone!
Matcha strawberry einspanner really good and creamy You can taste the matcha but it blends beautifully w the strawberry puree and cream top.very crowded when we stopped by. Not enough tables and no one was wiping them down either so it was sticky. Accepted apple pay n cc with no additional surcharge. Drinks came out quick and parking was free.
We ordered the Damo latte - an espresso shot with agave sweetener and the Matcha cream top. The espresso flavor wasn't terribly strong and the matcha tasted alright to me There was a long line of customers and it's a pretty popular Korean drink shop in Koreatown!
Solid matcha place in ktown!! There's so many places around and it's a saturated market so I get the competition... but this place holds its own! Matcha is rich and bold, there's a good amount so it's not weak. Milk ratio is good so it's not diluted at all. The cream top is nice and thick and doesn't melt into the drink! Matcha Cream Top ($7.75)-- I looooove me a nice and thick cream top and this place does it amazingly. It's thick and perfectly sweetened and doesn't melt with the drink/ice. It stays perfectly thick and still and above the matcha unless you mix it in. The matcha is also really nice and rich. None of the bland or grassy taste. Just genuine good matcha! Chocolate Forest ($7.75)-- Basically same as above but the cream on top tastes like Milo/Ovaltine mixed in. It's a nice and sweet nostalgic taste. Not a hint of bitterness so if you want mocha/dark chocolate this is not the one for you. It's more happy kid hot chocolate vibes. Overall I really like this place for their matcha and would get it again. Pricing is steep but all good matcha goes for around $8 nowadays. Theres a shared parking lot (free if you go in the afternoon) but otherwise street parking.
got the strawberry matcha!! the cream top was delicious and so glad it didn't make the entire matcha drink heavy bc i just wanted something sweet and refreshing! the service was nice and quick! got my drink within 5-7 mins after ordering!! the inside was on the smaller side and it got busy/crowded fast so recommend getting your drinks to go!
Pretty solid matcha spot that I'm more willing to go to now that the lines have died down :) We got the iced matcha latte and matcha einspanner, both half sweet which was the perfect level. Drinks come out pretty quickly too! There is a moderate amount of seating for socializing or studying. We came on a Saturday morning and were lucky enough find a parking spot in the lot (which is shared by a lot of places including the new bakery Out of Ordi)
Visited this spot on a Wednesday at noon and they constantly had a flow of customers coming in and out. There's only a handful of tables and chairs with some stool seating against the front window. Ordered a matcha latte and I kind of regret not adding the cream foam after, but it was already a $7 cup of matcha. Upon mixing and tasting it left a bitter aftertaste so I didn't really enjoy it. I added two packs of raw sugar to try and alter it but I probably should have asked for sweetener or cream top because it still left a bitter aftertaste. Service was lackluster, not warm and friendly, but pretty straightforward. I was able to snag a parking spot in the lot but it wasn't plentiful as the plaza is busy shared with the salt bread shop.
I stopped by DAMO and ordered a matcha latte. The matcha had a vibrant, earthy flavor that was stronger than most matcha places I've been to. I appreciated the quality of the tea, and the matcha powder and cream on top was not too overly sweet. My friend and I were able to enjoy our drinks inside the shop, as there were plenty of tables available for people to chat with friends or study or work inside.
One of my top 3 favorite matcha spots in LA. The matcha and hojicha always come out consistent and strong
Very delicious matcha and flavor. Strawberry is super good and flavorful. So yummy love it
My new favorite spot for decadent matcha and hojicha drinks! The cream top on the hojicha einspanner was so creamy and thick, and it was also the perfect level of sweetness. The strawberry matcha einspanner was also yummy and had a great presentation The space is pretty small but there are a few seats available. The line was around 20 minutes long on a Saturday afternoon. Like most spots in ktown, the parking lot is limited and you'll likely need to find street parking, but it is definitely worth the hype!

The drinks did not disappoint! The cashier was very helpful in telling us their popular drinks. We got the mango cream matcha and the hojicha einspanner. Some places make weak matcha, but Damo provides us with delicious strong matcha!! The hojicha cream was thick and fragrant. Such a cute cafe to do work or hang out with friends. read more
Finally got to try this place and the ambiance was very minimalistic and nice. Parking is easy as it is a huge lot (big win for ktown). I got myself the matcha einspanner and my boyfriend got their latte. The einspanner was honestly done perfectly. The cream was the perfect consistency and sweetness! I went back the same week just for it! 10/10 would recommend. read more

Best matcha in la by far! If you're a fan of BOLD and pungent flavor of matcha this is the place. I have been to too many cafes where their matcha is lacking in bitterness, boldness, and richness which makes matcha quality. Baristas are friendly, but there are few seating areas. The vibe of the cafe is definitely cute! read more

The strawberry matcha latte was so delicious! The shop has a clean, relaxing vibe. Wish I could come back everyday! read more
My friend and I went on a Saturday afternoon, so the café was extremely busy. I had enough tables to sit, but it was still busy so it might be hard to get seating. The drink comes out pretty quick, and I think the services pretty quick. It might be because it was very busy, but the cafe was a bit dirty, as you could see the powders spilled on the tables we sat on and where there are lids and straws. The only part that I did not like about the service is that they never called saying that my drink was ready and when I did ask about 5 minutes later, they said "they think it's this one," referring to the drinks that was sitting there for 5 to 10 minutes. My friend and I both order the hojicha einspaner, which was actually very diluted, and I don't think it was because the drink was just sitting there, because my front agreed that her drink was diluted as well. So it seems like their drink is a bit overhyped. I don't know if it was because it was so busy but regardless, it's not like I am paying less for the food because it is busy. Overall, I do not think I will come back here. If you want to Hojicha einspaner, I would go to community goods. read more
I almost didn't want to leave a review because I want to keep this place a secret so that it doesn't get too crowded. Came on a Friday afternoon, and there was barely any seating (so perhaps it has already become pretty popular after all!) I got the hojicha einspener, and it was so good. The cream is really thick and pairs really well with the hojicha to create a rich and nutty taste. I also got the mugwort waffles. I love mugwort ricecake so the waffle felt like a modern twist on a more traditional Korean snack, but it was really well done. The waffle was super chewy, and it paired well with the cream + red bean. Definitely want to come here again with friends who have not been and try more of their drinks :) read more

The matcha is a 10/10!!!! All the drinks I tried here were so good. I've been wanting to come here for a while, and I finally had the chance. The service was good, the baristas were helpful and friendly! The vibe was chill - there were some people studying in there but there was still room to sit. Parking kind of sucks (as it does in most of LA) because it's in a shopping center! Finding good matcha in LA is hard, but this place is bomb. Definitely going back. read more

First impressions were that is very clean. Then the menu was too hard to choose from! I tried the Chocolate Forest, iced matcha with chocolate foam. So good, not too sweet, and made to perfection. I will be coming back here a lot. read more

Einspanner Cream Top: 4/5. A classic latte with einspanner that was not too sweet and just creamy enough. Enjoyed the drink! Strawberry Einspanner: 4.5/5. I feel like most cafes don't have a non caffeinated drink that tastes this good! The cream on top worked so so well with the strawberry and it's a great drink for kids. Vanilla Latte: 3.5/5. Thought this drink was pretty average but there was a strong vanilla flavor which was nice. All the drinks are on the pricey side but the interior is really nice. Location is on the smaller side with only around three tables but has a really nice environment. Located in a strip mall so there's limited parking especially on a busy weekend but we were able to find street parking really easily. Would definitely come back for the einspanner drinks and the aesthetic! read more

i've been waiting to come to DAMO for such a long time, and i wish i tried it sooner! very clean and aesthetic interior and a couple of tables inside. also, since it's located in a plaza, there was a parking lot, which i loved because finding street parking can be a nightmare in LA. the drinks were amazing! we ordered the mango cream matcha and the hojicha einspanner! the matcha was the perfect amount of creamy and loved that they used real mangoes instead of sweetener. the matcha was very high quality. the hojicha einspanner was also delicious, and a little less sweet, so perfect for those who don't like their drinks to be as sweet. the nuttiness of the hojicha and creaminess made the perfect drink. almost went back and ordered another latte--it was just that good! menu is extensive, so i'll definitely be back to try another drink! read more

Beautiful interior but the seating is limited and the people who choose to work inside for a long time make the seating situation pretty stressful, especially since we were told we couldn't order the Damo Waffle until we had secured a table. The Damo Latte was solid but the star was definitely the mango cream matcha - this is a must order! Personally I would skip on the Damo Waffle because it felt bitter/bland, but my husband still finished it. I'd say to just take your drinks to go and don't deal with the table frenzy. read more

What a treat!! We got the foam top (Einspänner) in strawberry, hojicha, and matcha. The hojicha was my favorite, super creamy and delicious!! read more
Yum!! My friends and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon after hearing good things about Damo. We got one drink each- a strawberry matcha latte, a strawberry einspanner, and two hojicha einspanners. We finished them before we even got home 15 minutes later, which is a testament to how good they were. Pros: - the cashier was knowledgeable about the drinks and was able to suggest recommendations - the strawberry einspanner is delicious. With the cream top, the drink tastes like strawberry ice cream - the strawberry matcha also stood out. You can tell they use good quality matcha because it has a strong flavor - they use strawberry bits in the strawberry drinks instead of just syrup - modern and aesthetic decor Things to keep in mind: - it's super compact inside with barely any seats - the drinks are too small (we wanted more since they were so good lol) and kinda pricey for the size - parking sucks. This isn't entirely Damo's fault and I think they close early-ish so customers don't have to deal with valet, but hopefully they open another location one day with better parking Overall, we really enjoyed Damo. I honestly like it way more than MemoryLook despite the size of the cafe and of the cups. Will most likely be back!! read more
What a discovery!! Not sure how long this cafe has existed, but I wish I have known this place longer because the drinks are so unique, i mean in a good way. This place is very crowded that finding a table is a challenge. The cashier makes sure we get a table before ordering the food (yes, only the food. they don't care if we only order the drinks) and I get why people are upset for this because they don't even help us find the table. We get: - Hojicha Einspener. Surprisingly fresh and pleasant. The tea is so refreshing and the cream creates a rich taste to it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It gets very sweet towards the end tho! So I might want to request less sweet next time, if they allow LOL. - Forest Chocolate (Chocolate forest (?) HAHA not sure what it's called). This is a matcha drink with chocolate cream on top. So overwhelmed by this. The first sip is pretty good, but it is too thick and we cannot finish it. But love the color so much! - Strawberry Latte. They use fresh strawberry, which is nice! It's good and caffeine free. - Damo Waffle, a rice cake waffle served with the house-made cream and red bean. A very interesting dessert indeed. The waffle is chewy and has no taste, so make sure you dip it in the cream and red bean. - Dagwa, assorted traditional Korean snacks. As a non-Korean, I must say I'm pretty confused with this food HAHAHA!! Not sure if we eat it correctly and not sure if it's the taste we expect. Price point is high, but Hojicha Einspener makes me and my friends want to go back! So glad to have found this place. read more
A place for tea! What a welcome sight to have a shop dedicated to tea over coffee. However, the star of the entire experience for me was that delicious mugwort waffle!! I could eat a million of those. The dagwa was also a nice sampler to share in a group and try lots of goodies. The matcha had a wonderful flavor, but was way too sweet for me. I'd def return for the waffle and to try other teas! read more

Overall I loved my drink! I got the hojicha einspanner and it was really nice, not too sweet! It was something different from what I usually get at other cafes. My main downside is that I felt the portion of drink to cream was a bit lacking especially given the size of the drink (slightly smaller then other cafes like Memory look). But the drink with the cream was very good and I finished it so fast because of how much I liked it. If you are coming here to study I'd say good luck because there's very little seating! This feels more like a place to chill a bit with friends. read more

This place is great for matcha. I'm typically very picky when it comes to matcha as some places make it super weak, have low quality matcha, and or don't prep it well leaving matcha clumps at the bottom of your drink. NOT THIS PLACE! I had the hojicha which tasted perfect (not too bitter, not too sweet, slightly floral and reminiscent of jasmine tea). The foam on top was also super thick and creamy. We also l grabbed 2 croissants from Clark St and you can never go wrong with a pastry from there. I'm interested in trying the mango matcha next time! This place is in a shopping center with parking but parking can be hard to find but there's always street parking. Plenty of inside seating too and they have a gender neutral restroom but you'll need a code for this. read more

I think of Damo's strawberry milk at least once a day. I haven't tried anything else because there is no reason to, although I have tried a sip of a friend's strawberry matcha and it was also quite delicious. The strawberry milk is so creamy and fresh - no artificial flavoring B.S. Parking can be hard to find, but if the lot is full there is off-street parking. The space is very tight. There isn't a lot of seating available. read more

This place is really really cool! I loved everything from service to presentation to atmosphere. I ordered the variety snacks with a chamomile tea. It was nice to get some light desserts and a hot beverage after a big dinner. read more
kind of a hit or miss place? it was a miss for me but may be worth a visit tor others. aestheticly pleasing menu items and interior wise nice, but doesnt meet the hype imo. we got a number of things on their menu: the strawberry/hojicha/matcha einspanners, a vanilla latte and the mango cream matcha drink and a damo waffle. the einspanners had a pretty delicious whipped cream to it but the drinks itself were just fair and not to my level of desired sweetness tbh. the latte was like any other latte and the damo waffle was interesting and chewy, plus has a kind of earthyness (?) to it. the mango cream matcha was a bit bitter at first but once you mix it a bit, it becomes pretty good. this was prob what we liked the most on our run there the place has limited seating bc it do be a nice place for sitting and talking or those who want to study if you can snag a table. the drinks arent rlly worth in comparison to their size/volume, and cost imo and the waittime can be quite a bit long. read more

Came here on a Friday night, early in the evening. A nice quiet place that is excellent for unwinding and having a conversation with someone. We had tea, and the ceremony surrounding the making of it was lovely. The tea itself was delicious. While we were there I forgot for a moment that I was in a busy city. I highly recommend coming here with someone that you want to have a relaxing conversation with. Instead of grabbing coffee, sit down with someone and enjoy some tea. read more
This marks my 37th coffee shop this year ! DAMO has been on my list for a while now because of how viral it went on tik tok. I have been in a matcha mood lately so I decided to finally check this off my list. DAMO is located in the same parking lot as Slurpin ramen so there is parking, I went at the crack of dawn (8am) so I had no issue getting parking but I can imagine it being hard when it's busy busy. The shop itself is about medium size, super modern minimalistic but very cute in my opinion. They have places to sit down and I think they also have tea they serve in some cute tea pots and cups. The ambiance when I was there was quite because there wasn't anyone there yet The service the service here is amazing they are super nice ! They make their coffee with love so it might be a little slow but it's worth it. The coffee .. I ordered the matcha einspanner and it was delicious, I love when the thick cream mixes in. The strawberry einspanner which was good! Overall thoughts .. Great service with some good matcha ! read more

Einspanner taste great!! Not too sweet for me that is perfect. My wife and I got Iced Einspanner with Latte and Hojicha, and also tried the mochi waffle that was amazing texture and I recommend to eat it when it's warm. A little busy but luckily we got a seat at bar. Plenty parking spaces in the front and nice white tone inside. Would love to try signature Dagwa next time I revisit LA. read more

Highly recommend trying this tea house! We came at about 9:30 pm on Saturday night after eating ramen next door. They have an assortment of tea drinks and desserts. We ordered the Einspener Cream Top drinks in Matcha, Hojicha, and Chocolate Forest. All were amazing!! The cream too was thick and sweet, the drinks were flavorful yet light. Enjoyed all of them, but the Hojicha was my favorite as it felt like a mix of the matcha and chocolate so it had the best of both worlds. Also ordered the seasonal Mango Cream Matcha; also delicious and on the fruitier side. Inside was minimalist with dainty decor and a tables for groups, plus some bar seating. Parking is a plaza lot with $3 cash valet. Would definitely come back!! read more
I love a good cream top on my drinks. Finally came here to try their foamy topped lattes. The cafe is super tiny with only a few tables. Good for small groups but it gets really crowded in there with the line too. HOJICHA LATTE -The hojicha foam was strong and super creamy! The drink itself was a bit too sweet, but still good. MATCHA LATTE -The cream top was THICK. It was sweeter than the actual matcha drink which gives it a good balance if you like lightly sweetened matchas. DAMO WAFFLE -This was so disappointing. It was drowning in butter when we got it. The waffles had very little flavorful and the texture was too dense. The cream helped a little bit, but still looked better than it tastes. read more
