So I went in to get an oil change for my legacy. The wait wasn't too bad. However what you're about to read was so unnecessary. So yea I leave after my oil change and notice that they switched out my license plate holder with a Dan Perkins Subaru holder. Have bought several cars in my life. Working with Marc Weinstock at Perkins Subaru made the process seamless and easy. Specifically, out of the 5 other Subaru dealers I called - Marc was the only one who 1) followed up with emails, texts and calls 2) was proactive to find the exact car we wanted (Blue Crosstrek) 3) followed through even on his off days. All other dealers said 8 weeks or I had to give them money first and then they would try and find the car. They rarely followed up or called us back. Marc found the car in 4 days, then called me up and asked if I was ready. If their service department is as good as their sales, you're in great hands. read more

AVOID at all cost. First, they never registered my new vehicle and my wife got pulled over and ticketed on I95. They ensured me I would have nothing to worry about when we purchased the vehicle. Second, the front desk in incompetent and can never find me in their system. It's a grueling process for them to find me considering how many times I've given them my info. Last, I dropped off my car at 7:30am, had to call 3x and wait 15min for them to tell me it ready and THEY NEVER CALLED!! No "I'm sorry", NOTHING!! Just a terrible place. read more

Two days after I posted my first review, I was contacted by the person who sold me the car asking me to remove it from Yelp and telling me that they would take care of the situation I was been reporting since the first week I bought the vehicle. They even gave me lifetime oil changes to calm me down! I took my car there again, they loaned me a vehicle. After like one week in service the car was supposedly ready. They didn't found anything wrong with the car, but they fix the mirror. Like two weeks after, the mirror (signal light) stopped working again, and the rackling noise I noticed since the beginning, got worst. So, in April I took the car back there and reported once again everything. They loaned me a car, again. After a week in service, I got a call from the service manager saying that they found what was wrong with the car and that the labor costs would be something around $1,000 and that he had checked my warranty and that I had to pay out of my pocket because the warranty I had didn't cover that. So, let go back to when I purchased the vehicle and even that my car was posted in the Internet with a lifetime warranty, which was their mistake, but they sold me a full coverage warranty for two years that according with the salesman everything was covered. So I explained this to the service manager and I explained that I reported that rackling noise since the first time I was there in October last year, but their "Certified Subaru Mechanics" keep saying that there is nothing wrong with it. So, he called again saying that it was truth that I reported and because of that they will go to fix it. They fix it, but amazingly my warranty was used to cover the repair (same warranty I was told it did not covered that kind of labor). Finally, I picked up my car and I was so happy that finally after all the mess it was fixed. Short after I got my car back I started noticing that the vehicle sounds like clogged and losing power going up hills. Like three weeks ago I decided to open the hood and check the air filter. I am not a mechanic, but I know a little about cars. When I opened the hood immediately I noticed that there was a part missing that goes in the air filter box. I Google a picture of my car engine and I was right, a big tube (exhaust) that goes attached to the air filter box was missing which means that their "Certified Subaru Mechanics" forgot to put it back in April when they worked to fix everything that was wrong with the vehicle. Once again I got there to service, spoke with a Spanish guy and explained and showed him what I found. He immediately noticed that the part was missing and asked me where else I take my car for service because there was no way their "Certified Subaru Mechanics" had done that. I explained that the only place I take the vehicle is to them, even for oil changes. He said that must have taken it somewhere else, basically called me a liar. After all that, he called the mechanic that worked on my car in April and I don't know what happened, but he said that they had to order the part because they didn't have it. Why when their "Certified Subaru Mechanics" found that they didn't installed the part called me and instead they throw it away? It's been two weeks now since the part was ordered. I was told that it should be there within 3 days and that they will call me. No called. I called Friday last week and service couldn't tell me if the part was there or not. They transferred me to parts to ask them about a part that I have no idea how is called. I called again on July 1st and was told that by Thursday was supposed to be there and they gave me an appointment for service for today, Saturday July 6th. So I called again before going today and don't had to drive one hour for nothing to be told that the part isn't there and to call back next week. I don't know how to manage this situation anymore. I am so upset for the lack of quality service, effectiveness and professionalism of everyone in the service department at Dan Perkins Subaru. If I knew since the beginning this is the way they treat their customers I never had go there to buy a vehicle. I definitely will be making some calls looking forward to have this annoying situation fix. Ever since I bought this vehicle all I had are problems and the worst part is to have to deal with incompetent people that pride themselves to be the best Subaru service dealership in CT. Brought in my car for an oil change at the first appointment of the day, 7:30 am. I figured they would call by lunch to come get it. Nope. I had to contact them at 2:30 pm to find out whether it was completed or not. It was, thankfully. I requested that I have someone come get me as I had used the car service to get dropped off at my job. An hour and half later, STILL no one to pick me up and no one seems to know where the driver is. I called to find out where s/he was and they said they would call back with an answer. No call. So, at 4 pm I finally get picked up. Did I mention I work 10 miles away? Who would have guessed that it would take 9 hours to get an oil change? Lame. read more

Not sure what's going on there. Previously have had good experience but I'm not sure what was going on this past time. The service agent I was dealing with said they'd get me a quote on tires, and we went over what work they were going to do otherwise. He said he'd call me back with a tire quote. I never heard from him again. I called them after a few hours to check on the car. The service agent I was dealing with had left for the day and nobody knew what was going on. They thought the car work was done. I went and picked it up, and it wasn't clear what work had actually been done. At that point service was closed, and I was dealing with sales, who had no idea. I paid, got the car and left. The next day I called twice, asking for the service rep, and was told he was busy. I left messages. No phone call back. The following day, I finally got a call from Subaru and thought great, this is my tire quote... but alas, it was someone following up, asking if I exceeded their expectations. I told them no, I'm actually not sure what is going on, and I told them my story. They said okay, we'll get in touch with your service rep and call you right back. That was days ago. I would call and complain to a manager (if they exist?) but at this point it isn't worth my time. I'm going somewhere else for service next time. read more

Needed my check engine light checked and they were able to see me the same day. Comfy waiting area with free wifi, tv, popcorn/coffee and a big viewing cage with parakeets. We had such terrible service at the Subarus near our home (Stamford) that we ended up in Milford. While shopping for his car which he decided on the WRX, I fell in love with the Legacy. Keep in mind I just punched a new Honda Accord Coupe 9 months ago. My sales rep Hamid made the trade completely easy and comfortable. Within a week they transported the color I wanted, fully loaded every detail I asked and I was out the door in an hour! Couldn't be any more pleased! Pretty much did ally car shopping over internet. They had good website and did all the negotiating over email with Gary. They had a great price, the right color and model I was looking for. It was worth the train ride from manhattan to get the car. The final price was exactly as agreed upon over emails and this was a very good feeling. No surprises. Service has to improve. They are no where close to BMW or in terms of service. Staff should be better at reaching out to customers on the status of their vehicle. Customers like me are forced to keep proactively calling many times to get any answers. Often, when you do call about your car, the staff is very confused or busy (they will call you back in a few hours or maybe not even at all). Danielle in service needs to try and be nicer to customers on the phone. The crew that details the cars after service do a great job, they need to keep doing what they are doing!! read more

I ordered a hitch for my Legacy from subarupartsforyou.com, which is owned and operated by Dan Perkins Subaru. The hitch came bent and wouldn't fit on the car. Because I had to choose Outback as my car model vs Legacy in order for the hitch to be an option, SPFY claimed that's why it wouldn't fit and refused to refund or replace it (they offered to refund it minus shipping, which means I would have ended up paying probably 2/3 of the cost in the end anyways), as well as behaving like children in their responses, saying things such as first I claimed it was defective, then I claimed it was damaged, as if there's a difference. I sent them pictures that clearly showed how the hitch was bent/defective, but they absolutely refused to accept (or as they say, except) any responsibility for it, wanting me to pay shipping to send it back, which would have cost half as much as the hitch itself. Not only did I do EXTENSIVE research before buying to be sure the hitch would fit my car (the Outback and the Legacy are the exact same for that part of the car), but I then did what I should have done in the first place, and bought a hitch directly from the dealership. And what do you know, it fit perfectly, because it WASN'T BENT. And you would think that if it wouldn't fit a Legacy just because it's meant for an Outback that the dealership would know that. The fact is, it's meant for an Outback because Legacy's don't have the braking power needed for towing a trailer and they can't support as much tongue weight, though that's really a much smaller reason compared to the former. Of course, either these idiots don't know that or, more likely, they just use any excuse to avoid taking responsibility for shipping damaged parts. Also, they said they checked another part in stock and it looked the same as the one I got, based on my pictures, which means either they were lying or they had multiple defective hitches in stock. Solid service department overall. Good work. It can take a while to wait for service, but fortunately they do have a nice customer area. Loaners are good for bigger jobs. Had a complete engine replacement here once and haven't had a single problem with that car since. I've had a few small issues that they weren't able to resolve (iPhone dropping bluetooth connection for example), but that appears to be a hardware/software issue that they don't have control over. I usually avoid the free carwash they offer (since my car comes out dirtier than it went in), but overall a very good service location. read more

I am overjoyed to be the first to write a review of dan perkins subaru. I dont know who Danny Boy is, but he really ought to get down to his shop and see the shit-show that goes on there. I DONT NOT recommend this place. I used to go to Premier in Branford, recently tried Dan Perkins because of my new living location, and will be going right back to Premier(branford CT). It started with them "making an appointment for me" and then "having no record of my appointment" when i arrived with my car, causing me to miss two hours or work unnecessarily(im paid by the hour). So, needless to say, that sucked. Further was-- the fact that after they did schedule me for the following week--they returned the car with the bumper still not properly attached, telling me "Oh it shouldnt fall off while driving". Are you fkng kidding me? I called the general manager and, truth be told, he tried accomodating me by having me bring my car back to get properly fixed. However, this included renting a car for two days, and still getting punked around by that old "no, the parts didnt come in...oh yeah we'll call you as soon as its ready" bs. There are so many other things too, the attitude of employees, the fact they failed to mention that they had an air conditioned waiting room that i could have relaxed in. Instead had me stand in a corner for half an hour waiting. Nothings perfect. Granted. However, when they have signs hanging all around that they are "Number 1 this and Number 1 that, they really ought to try to at least be number 5 or 6. They were at the bottom of any list i could ever generate of customer service. read more

After walking in on a Sunday with no appointment we were immediately greeted and spent the next two hours with an amazing saleswoman, Regina. She spent the next two hours showing us around the dealership, showing us all the cars we were interested in, and offering us every possible option that she thought may benefit us. Brought in the WEB quote. Talked to Sid, he read the quote asked what we wanted for the trade, told him, took it for a spin came back and said we had a deal !!! In 2013 I purchased a crosstrek with Sid as my salesman. I traveled from Long Island to get better pricing than I could find anywhere on LI. The experience could not have been more pleasant. No nonsense, fast, and easy. This month I was ready to trade up to an outback. I shopped around Long Island for price but once again I ended up at Dan Perkins, again working with Sid. Not only was he the only salesman who could find me the car I wanted, he came in with a great price. On the day of delivery I arrived a bit early. While I was waiting briefly for Sid, Mr. Dan Perkins came over and gave me a kiss on the cheek and thanked me for my business. He is one of those older men who never forgot how he started out. Everyone at this dealership is amazing its like family for everyone that walks through the door! I called in because I had gotten stuck in a deal with another place that worked us over for over 8,000 dollars what the car was worth and Shawn said come on in and we can take a look at it. He looked over everything and was in shock someone could do that to someone and helped us figure out what to do to fix the situation. His advice worked and he did all this not even expecting to sell us a car, just out of good will. So obviously we went to him to have our second chance in buying a car. He was amazing he spent all day with us all while attending to his other customers (he is very popular and after you read this you will know why). He worked with us to find a car in our budget (which wasn't an easy task as I was so scared about getting another car and we were only able to afford around 300 a month and have not so great credit). The first word that comes to mind when I think of this dealership is WOW! As a consumer, I've owned literally over 100 cars and I never had such a pleasant experience as I did at Dan Perkins Subaru. Everyone from the sales rep, to the service techs to the sales/finance/service and general managers, everyone was beyond helpful and nice. This is truly a family dealership where they really care and want the customer to walk out happy. I've dealt with other Subaru dealers and nothing can compare to Dan Perkins. I've dealt with higher line dealers such as BMW and Mercedes and even Bentley but those dealers couldn't compare to the level of professionalism this Subaru dealer exhibits. I've also worked in the auto industry for over 10 years so I have a lot of experience under my belt when it comes to cars and dealers. If I could give this dealer 10 stars, I would, the 5 star rating does NOT justify how awesome these guys really are. They were straight forward, super helpful, honest, I can't think of enough positive adjectives to describe this dealer. I am usually a very tough customer and person to deal with and I never gave any business a rating of 5 stars. I am a stickler for every minor detail and I am alway a very harsh grader and reviewer. I have never given a 5 star rating to any business I've been to. So for me to give this dealer a 5 star rating, it really goes to show how great these guys really are. Even though I am a 2 hour drive away from the dealer, I will be going back to take advantage of the free maintenance they offer with the purchase of every Subaru just because it felt so good just to be there, it felt like I was at home. Nothing wrong with Subaru's, they are great vehicles, but Dan Perkins salesmen will promise you perks that they dont deliver, and their service dept will recommend completely unnecessary repairs. After 6 years I thought they couldn't screw me anymore, but today, I had to call them to get a copy of my original bill of sale. I moved to a different state and they wanted proof I paid sales tax on the car. Just bought a 2013 Subaru Forester, which I love. Saw a salesman right away (Derek) and he was very helpful and there was no pressure. I originally thought I was going to lease, but then decided to buy, and the figures for the car and the trade-in did not change. I thought that the price for the car, and the amount offered for the trade-in were both fair. This is only my first experience with the dealership, and I will review again after I've been there for servicing. What a disappointment! The lease on our 2nd car is up, so my wife and In stopped in this afternoon in hopes of learning more about Subaru's and the dealership. We were in the showroom for 20 minutes, sitting in cars, opening and closing doors...even stood in the parking lot. Not one person came up to us, said hello or asked if we were being helped. Then, when we tried to leave, the dealer parked a running car behind us, preventing us from leaving. Twice I had to go back into the showroom and ask for the car to be moved,. Finally, I stopped a salesman and asked him to kindly moved the car, which he did. So at least we know where NOT to buy our next car. read more

To summarize, my wife and I had a very positive overall experience at Dan Perkins Subaru. As background, we selected a Subaru Forrester 2.5i Premium with navigation (need to have) and eyesight (comes with navigation on the Premium model). We ordered the car and approximately ten weeks later a car arrived. Unfortunately, it was the wrong car as it did not have navigation (the only "need to have"). This error put us in a difficult situation as our existing vehicle was leased and had limited miles remaining on it. By this point in the process, we had been transitioned to Josh Fields (inventory manager). Josh was instrumental in resolving the problem and delivering a positive outcome. He was able to locate a nearby Forrester with navigation and it arrived within days of the original pick-up date. The timeliness and quality of Josh's resolution was impressive and alleviated the negative emotions we felt when the wrong car arrived after ten weeks of anticipation. We understand that errors can occur - what stood out to us was Josh's dedication and ability to resolve the issue which ultimately salvaged the customer relationship and restored confidence in the dealership. We plan to purchase another car in the near future and would like that business to go to Dan Perkins Subaru for the reasons mentioned above. We would also like to mention that we were impressed with the customer service and attention that we received while working with Sal and Mike Giugno - they made us feel at home in the dealership. read more

I recently purchased a new Impreza (2015) from Dan Perkins. The sales woman who worked with me (Lauren M.) was very helpful, and she made the process as easy as possible. She was honest with me about some problems with a used car I was thinking about purchasing, which I appreciated. The financing conversation felt a bit rushed, but a lot of that was because I didn't press for a lot of details and options for financing and warranty. This has to be the worst experience at a car dealership we have ever had. My husband called the night before and was told someone would call us in the morning to set up a test drive; no one did. When we went there, Sid did business with other sales associates while we sat at his desk, then brought a car out for us to look at, but didn't show us anything about the car. When we asked if we could go for the test drive, he grabbed a plate, threw it in the window and said we could go. We found him curt and rude and we walked out. We knew the GM was out on vacation, but expected better. We took our business elsewhere. read more
