As a Korean American, I'm always a bit cautious when trying Korean restaurants, but this spot in downtown Los Gatos truly impressed me. I recently visited with my mom, who is visiting from Korea, and she also really enjoyed her meal. They have many options and the flavors were authentic and delicious. We ordered the spicy pork hot stone pot, yookgaejang and dukmandu gook dupling soup. All very tasty! It's wonderful to see diverse food options in Los Gatos. Appalling, hostile service. Avoid like the plague. I have never experienced such an appallingly poor service like here tonight. We checked Google and saw they close at 9 PM. Walking in at 8:10 PM, we were immediately rushed and told we had five minutes to order because the kitchen was closing. After a 30-minute wait, our food finally arrived at 8:40 PM, along with the forgotten appetizer we had to track down. Before I could even pick up my chopsticks, the waiter dropped the bill and demanded immediate payment because "the kitchen was closed". I paid and tipped, which in hindsight was a mistake. At 8:58 PM, he silently dropped empty takeaway boxes on our table as a passive-aggressive hint. Then, at just a few minutes past 9 PM, he came back and literally told us to get out. I was in the middle of eating a sizzling hot pot that was burning my tongue, and this 20-something kid with absolutely zero training and poor customer service skills started arguing with and scolding me when I pointed out how ridiculous it was to rush us after making us wait 30 minutes for the food. I had to remind him that I was the customer and that he probably should not talk to any of his customers like this. They were just cleaning up and could have easily given us five minutes to finish. When we were leaving, he also told us to "have a great evening" in a snarky condescending way. To top it off, the food is completely mediocre and overpriced. Service this toxic guarantees they won't be in business long and I certainly do hope they will be replaced with something better. So excited about Danbi in Los Gatos! I use to go to their older location closer to the court house in San Jose. The location is great if you want some excellent Korean food. They give you a good amount of Bon Chon (picked radish, Kim chee and other small bites) the food is delicious as I got the rice cake with cheese thokbokki and my buddy ordered their Meat Jun (If you've been to hawaii IYKYK) thin cuts of beef coated in egg and fried with a dipping sauces (bomb) must try this new Korean spot in Los Gatos. I'm finally ready to leave them a review after they worked out their grand opening kinks from a few months ago. I've been here three times already in the last month and consistently found their nurungji (That's the crunchy rice at the bottom of the hot stone dishes) is crisped to perfection and ingredients always very fresh and flavorful. They also put a perfect runny egg on top of your hot stone pot dishes (tip: you need to tell them in advance you want it run since a lot of people like it fully cooked). Their soups are very flavorful too. Large restaurant for big gatherings possible and now that there's free parking next to the post office it makes parking in downtown Los Gatos easier! We stopped in for lunch on a weekday. It is a little bit hidden off of the main downtown drag, but we found that to be an intimate charm point. One thing that immediately appeared authentically Korean was that they cover the place settings on the empty tables, which is something you would see in restaurants all over South Korea. The atmosphere was great, with K-Pop playing in the background at a non-intrusive volume. Condiments were presented to the table almost immediately. The kimchi was fresh, and the other pickles (cucumber, daikon, bean sprouts) were spot-on. Highlights of the food we ordered were the Seafood Pancake and the Tteokbokki. To say that we scarfed it would be an understatement. The texture and spice of the Tteokbokki was delightful. The Seafood Pancake was delicious and fried to a perfect crunch. The service was attentive and professional. When we couldn't finish the Seafood Pancake, our server not only gave us a box to go but also provided a small to-go container with sauce! What a nice touch! The drink menu is deep and features Korean beers as well as Soju and other Korean cocktails. We had a bottle of beer and Soju, and were quite satisfied. So excited to try this first Korean restaurant in town of Los Gatos! We had Kbbq, kimchi stone pot rice, beef bone soup, and spicy tofu soups. The Korean BBQ is always good in any K restaurant, but generally it is not my taste because it's too sweet for me. However all my friends loved it. Beef bone soup is mild traditional Korean soul food. The soup was not really seasoned. If you are not a Korean you probably don't know what it supposed to taste like. So they should have some seasoning for non Korean customers. My friend think it was too blend. Not much flavorful. The tofu soups were all pretty good. If you are not good with spicy food you should order it as mild version. The stone pot kimchi bibimbob was a lot of portion. Love the way they serve as very hot. They refilled the side dishes. Just opened 3 weeks ago. We love Korean food and were excited to have a Korean restaurant in Los Gatos. The decor is simple and the dining area is filled with natural sunlight facing the park. They have an extensive menu with all the traditional favorites and more. The food was delicious and freshly made to order. Nice variety of traditional pickled vegetables to go along with your food. The dishes are easy to share if you go with a group. The food was mild, and came with a squeeze bottle of sauce if you want it spicy. They have outdoor seating, which is perfect for spring and summer dining. It would be fun to pick up some food to go during the Jazz on the Plazz series. Very friendly staff and quick service. I don't usually leave reviews, but this new Korean restaurant absolutely deserves it. I went there during "soft-opening", - I was told Grand opening will be around 1st week of April! Still, I had a great time and enjoyed the experience to share with Yelpers. I ordered the Yukgaejang, spicy pork, and seafood panckae (pajeon) -- and wow, everything was phenomenal. The Yukgaejang was bomb... rich, deeply flavorful, and had just the right amount of heat. The beef was tender, and the broth had that slow-simmered, comforting depth that hits the spot. I talked to the owner (who actually stopped by table to check on customers!) and she confirmed this broth is exactly made to the quality of Seolleongtang (traditional Korean dish, a rich and hearty soup typically made with slow-boiled beef) . My favorite all-time dish this Yukgaejang will be!! The spicy pork was perfectly marinated, packed with flavor, and had that nice balance of spice and slight sweetness. The seafood pancake was crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, and loaded with fresh seafood. Easily one of the best I've had -- Portions were generous, and everything came out hot and fresh. You can tell they care about quality and presentation here. I'm already planning to come back and bring friends. If you love authentic Korean food done right, this place is a must-try. read more
