Such a cute little, family-run spot. The highlight for me was actually the tea... if you're into creamy drinks, definitely don't miss the Thai tea options here! I ordered the green Thai tea, which appears to be matcha that makes this green. As for the food, I tried the Shrimp Pad Thai. It's not spicy at all yet still flavorful, and personally I actually like that since I'm terrible with spice. They do have a bit of chili flakes on the side if you want to add it in. There's a good amount of noodles too. The containers are really cute and great for getting to-go, even though we ate there. Could see this as a convenient spot to grab a quick meal for takeout. Tofu yellow curry was alright, I felt it could have used more spice, it seemed a bit watery to me. An amazing piece of Bangkok nestled in the San Gabriel Mission! As you walked in you will be greeted by the friendly staff/owner and the miniature fruit stand that you would find in Bangkok. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Rice Bowl and the Coconut Palm Juice. Oh my!! The rice bowl brought my tastebuds back to the street in Phuket. Was looking for Japanese curry in my area and this little gem popped up. FOOD: Pretty good overall. The tonkatsu curry (4/5) was just as expected. The tonkatsu was good and the curry itself was not bad. Not the best Japanese curry I've had but good enough to return. The beef bowl (3.5/5) was on the drier side and probably something I wouldn't order again since there are so many other choices. The chicken karage (4/5) was pretty flavorful and satisfying. But again, not the best karage I've ever had. The pad see ew (4.5/5) was probably the best thing I ordered today and close to one of the best I've had. Not too oily and great flavor. SERVICE: Place is tiny so I got my food to go. Based on interaction on the phone and picking the food up, service was good. LOCATION: Located in a small strip mall with limited parking, I was able to find parking right in front on MLK day. NOTEWORTHY: This place is a fusion of Japanese and Thai cuisine, pretty interesting to be able to get these two flavor profiles from the same restaurant. The service was GREAT and the mango sticky rice was super delicious! The mango was super ripe and sweet and the rice had the perfect salty edge to it. It could use a bit more of the coconut sauce, but other than that it was absolutely amazing! The ambiance was great and calm with minimal music playing the background. I wanted a refund because I couldn't wait, but they were unable to make this happen since the sister who takes care of this was not present. I would recommend calling them when you send in a ChowNow order, which means their attention to detail is lacking. I ended up just having to wait for the order since I couldn't trust I would be refunded. This was my first visit here so I have no previous visits to compare. A great local place with great Thai and Japanaese options! I've only had the beef bowl here, but it delights my tastebuds every time! The only qualm I have is that the beef bowl has an high rice ratio, so if you do get the beef bowl, order it with extra meat (cost will be extra) but you'll thank me for it later! I can taste the mouth watering savory cooked in meat taste you can only get with a homemade recipe! The beef bowl is similar in style like the ones at Yoshinoya, as well as the side of boiled vegetables, but this bowl here is on a whole another level! Chain restaurants could learn a thing or two from this place! Service is friendly and the space is clean- with it's affordable pricing, and and amazing beef bowl, I will be back to try their other delicious sounding plates! Super cute little restaurant and a great place to catch up with friends. I really loved their pad Thai and their katsu curry is probably one of the best I've had. Their katsu has really flaky, crunchy breading that also tastes really light. Usually when I eat curry katsu, sometimes I can feel very bloated or heavy after eating, but after eating here I felt very refreshed! I was really disappointed because of the lack of flavor and quality of the food. I really wanted to like the food but it wasn't what I was expecting. Tom yom noodle soup: really sour soup and dry pork. There noodles were stuck together even when mixed with the soup. I didn't like the texture of the noodles and I ended up not even finishing most of it. Shrimp Pad Thai: again, noodles were not the best and were stuck together. The spicy basil chicken was just okay for me since I'm not usually a basil chicken person. I could do with more spice and flavor since it's on the light side, but the chicken and basil ratio was good and very fresh! The shrimp pad thai was my favorite out of all the food we got. I liked that it wasn't overly sweet like most thai places make it and something about it was just super nostalgic for me. Also it had that wok hei feeling which was super yuuumm!! Service was also really nice as well! After walking in and greeted the waitress, she asked if it was our first time which we said yes and she then proceeded to give recommendations on the menu which was really helpful. And also came by our table later to ask if we wanted any chili sauces which actually helped give me more of the spice I was wanting. She also mentioned that they just opened about a month ago so the menu may be changing a little bit here and there so be on the lookout! Came here and was surprised how good the food is here. I got the chicken pad kee mao and the veggie egg rolls. The egg rolls have a unique sweet sauce that I never had before. It's really good and must try. It came with 4x total and they were still piping hot when I got back to my apartment. They were inside of a nice aluminum container. As for the pad kee mao, I really liked the flavors and how the dish was served. The to go box is eco friendly and I liked the portions. I got spicy hot and each bite was enjoyable. Found this cute little spot through word of mouth. I went for a quick lunch with my mom on a weekday and the service was phenomenal. The owner's sister greeted us and promptly took our order. We didn't know what to order, so she recommended a few dishes for us. We ended up ordering the pad kee Mao, pad see ew, and Thai tea. Both dishes were delicious and the pad kee mao had a good amount of spice to it! Thai tea was large and wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated. Prices were affordable for the portion sizes. Terrible service. Placed an order online and was given a wait time of 30 minutes. The estimated wait time should've been more transparent. I selected to pick up ASAP but didn't find out it would be 30 minutes until AFTER placing our order which was disappointing since we were hungry. To make matters worse, after getting there at our pickup time, they claim they never got our order??? Not sure how that's possible since somehow they managed to print out our order with our items without asking our order number. Just say you forgot instead of making up an excuse. Waited 15 more minutes for my food. Total wait was 45 minutes. Note that it was relatively empty other than 1 or 2 pickup orders. We got tonkatsu curry and beef pad see ew. Tonkatsu was dry and tough. The pad see ew lacked in flavor. Will not be coming here again. read more

Stopped by because I was craving Thai food and especially just returning from my trip from Thailand I wanted to try this place out. I walked in and looked at the menu and noticed that it's more of a Thai/Japanese place. I ordered the spicy basil chicken and a Thai tea. About 8.95 for the dish and 4.50 for the Thai tea. My expectation might have been a bit high but not really a fan of their spicy basil chicken. The dish wasn't spicy at all and their twist and take on this dish (pad krapow) had onions and red/green bell peppers. Overall, I'd come back but not anytime soon. read more

I've been wanting to try this place after finding out it's a Thai restaurant. It's a strange location and I thought it was a dance studio. The place is small and not suited for dine-in. We ordered take out Pad Thai, egg rolls, karaage chicken and mango sticky rice. Pad Thai was excellent. It had a good flavor and was substantial. Egg rolls were good but could have been previously frozen to me, not sure. Karaage chicken was somewhat dry and the chicken thigh was a bit stringy. The flavor was good but it may have been overcooked. Mango sticky rice is a favorite. The rice and mango was very good. However, the coconut milk syrup was barely 1/2 filled on a small plastic container the kind hot sauce comes in. Next time will have to ask for more coconut milk. I saw a new Thai restaurant nearby, and I decided I had to give it a try. Dancing Spoons has only had a few reviews so far, so my guess is that it has only been open for a few weeks. It's a very small space, so I decided to order carry out. Looking through all their menu items, their massaman chicken looked pretty good, so that's what I ended up ordering. The curry was really good, slightly on the sweeter side. There was a slight spicy kick, but not too much for me to handle. I wish they had used dark meat chicken instead of white meat chicken, I think thigh meat goes really well with massaman curry. I also wish they had more sauce, because it was so good. Overall, solid Thai restaurant. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely good. read more
