1) I make reservations, the options are inside the restaurant with a photo of the inside of the restaurant or outside patio with a photo of the rooftop. I went with the outside patio, which actually means sidewalk with traffic noise. 2) my bf and I are pretty much dressed in all black. Waiter and assistant advised let me get you some black napkins. My thoughts are, wow this is amazing service. 30 minutes later appetizers arrive and I have to ask for a napkin and they bring white ones. 3) I brought my own bottle of wine to reserve some of the funds, knowing that it was an expensive restaurant. Corkage fee you ask? Oh its $95 (so the reasonable response would be to order a bottle of wine and save your cheap $35 bottle of wine that you brought from home) 4)ordered one of the cheapest bottles if pinot noir they had. They overprice their bottles of wine by 235% (that is the exact math) $79 bottle, cost me $180 5) appetizers i ordered: Chips and dip : consists of homemade potato chips, French onion dip topped with caviar. Was about $55. I was pleased with the taste, not the price, specially, for a small tablespoon of caviar Second appetizer was the special appetizer of the day, two stone crab claws with its knuckles. Was expecting no more than $80 for just two damn hands with its elbows. Nope was $140 when the check came. Third appetizer was half a dozen of Rockefeller oysters. Wasn't a fan. They make it with mint. Very odd combination. 6) do you want bread for the table? Yes please! OK you're now being charged $11 because you wanted bread. 5) $300 Wagyu Tomahawk. OK we're celebrating bf's birthday, definitely going with that Wagyu Tomahawk. One bite in consists of 100 chews to be able to swallow. I only end up eating about two very small pieces of the steak. I can't tolerate the quality. I then ask (verifying) This is a Wagyu Tomahawk?? Waiters response " well it's a blend". What the fuck does that mean? The cow was cross bread. He says he's going to take it up with his manager. Standby for the outcome. 6) order dessert. Dessert was great. 7) waiter returns after speaking with manager... me and and my bf both got complementary cheap glasses of champagne, which my bf doesn't drink. $1200 later for two people, Never returning again read more

DARN!!!! really wanted to like this place! we had high hopes but fell flat! the ambience is beautiful (old Fiola) and the service was just ok. our server was a bit distracted and didn't seem to enthusiastic to explain the menu. The food was just ok ....the chips with dip/caviar is a joke at $54! The meats and sides offered nothing special or stood out ...definitely not to the leveled hype it has gotten. We are so lucky to have this fine restaurant in Coral Gables. The food is superb and the atmosphere is impeccable. The service is perfect and the hostesses as well. Daniel's Miami is the kind of place you save up for but just keep coming back to. The location replaced the former Fiola Miami but has brought a fantastic vibe to the location. Daniel's is upscale, classy and you can always expect fantastic service. Daniel's is the prime location for birthdays and celebrations. The food is to die for and it's obvious that people are obsessed with the new location. I came back on my birthday which was a Monday night and there wasn't one open table. This is definitely the kind of location you want to make a reservation for early because it seems everyone wants a seat. I can't wait for my next experience here. Honest, anti-hype review to follow: I am not one to be prone to hype nor am I one to plan my life a month in advance to secure a prime reso at a very trendy place. We managed to get a Saturday spot on the earlier end and were met with a beautiful but standard (IMHO) steakhouse interior. Dark wood, muted lighting, very nicely appointed wine room and beautiful bar area. Hostess service was friendly though met with a slightly repulsing tone from the manager (?) at the host stand addressing guests without directly making eye contact. Odd. Moving on - very friendly and attentive wait staff. Prompt service and constant water refills, as well as good degree of explanations / recommendations. They took excellent care of us and this is likely one of the better service experiences I've had in Miami (low bar, I know...). The service was the absolute highlight, from our main server providing suggestions on steaks and desserts down to the gentleman tasked with asking whether we would prefer black or white dining serviettes. Now let's get to the food/drink: Daniel Martini - if you want a dirty martini then get one. This one is deconstructed and I asked for multiple brine refills to get my ratios right. It was very good as was the the old fashioned we had Bread service - simple but so good bc of the ricotta with olive oil, honey and thyme. Bread was good though nothing to write home about but then again I am a bread snob. Crab cake - excellent. Great crispy top layer and I appreciated the Meyer lemon gelée drops as well as yogurt-based sauce. The tartness and zest cut through the richness of the crab cake and the portion is large enough to share generously for 2 Meat - we ordered our consistent cut to assess this resto fairly against others with an apples to apples style comparison. The rib eye was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and served with their house special steak house (I like the taste of steak on its own so wouldn't advise it. It was rather vinegary/ketchupy in flavor profile). It's a good steak. Clearly they know where and how to source good meat. Fries - ordered for consistency too, also very good. Chocolate cake - incredible. Massive piece and easily shareable among many. Great hazelnut feuilletine/croustillant layer that adds welcome texture to what would otherwise be a rather overwhelming Ferrero rocher soft, délectable came. We also received a little banana bread side treat with a wonderful sauce as a sweet gesture. We would return but can't say we would if it is difficult to secure a table at a reasonable dining hour or otherwise treacherous. Perhaps when the hoopla dies down and it is easier to access then yes Otherwise great for special occasions and a good steakhouse experience. I wish I were writing this review under better circumstances, but I feel it's important for others in Coral Gables to know about our experience at Daniel's Restaurant. We had a reservation for 9:45 PM and arrived early around 8:00 PM, fully aware we might need to wait. My husband informed the staff that we'd sit at the bar until our table was ready. Unfortunately, we encountered surprisingly rude customer service directly from the owner, Tom. After his response telling us the restaurant was full and discouraging us from waiting, we decided to cancel our reservation and asked not to be charged. Tom insisted they would absolutely charge us anyway, which was just the start of the confrontation. When we pointed out that it was unfair to charge a no-show fee under these circumstances, things escalated. Tom called security and even tried to provoke a confrontation outside. Although he eventually apologized, it was far too late given how we had been treated. For anyone considering Daniel's Restaurant in Coral Gables, be aware that our experience revealed a serious issue with how the owner, Tom, treats customers. I hope they reconsider their approach to customer service in the future. read more

Where do I start; it was pretty quick. My wife and I made a reservation, and accidentally made it for the wrong day. Our mistake was completely genuine. This was the only evening in the foreseeable months where we had a babysitter for a one-year-old child. We were swiftly informed by multiple hosts that we could not bring our bottle of wine (in hand), multiple times, to which each time we verbalized understanding. Upon arrival to check in, what seemed to be a manager walked up and made the snide comment to a host, "do they know they can't bring that wine?" YES, we were just informed multiple times, and your job is to educate your guests. So even if we hadn't been informed, this gentleman did not need to make an under breath comment to his host. And never bothered to make eye contact with us. To build upon our disappointment that our reservation was accidentally made for the incorrect day, we were never offered a potential solution via another seating option in the bar or outdoor, any of which we would've gladly accepted. We were simply told, "we are booked." We completely understand that reservations were booked, but it really appeared that there was no true effort to accommodate two eager guests. My wife began to tear up. They allowed us to walk away. We were clearly dressed for the occasion and our mistake was honest. What is deeply disappointing is lack of effort that this establishment made to even attempt to honor that our reservation. Upon returning to our vehicle, my wife realized that if we cancel our reservation for the next day, less than 24 hours ahead of time, we may get charged the cancellation fee. This is when my wife re-entered the restaurant and waited in line to gain reassurance that our reservation for tomorrow was actually canceled and we would not be charged. While waiting in the line for about five minutes, my wife observed this manager clearly seating a party without a reservation. The discussion between the manager and these guests was very hush-hush, and he pointed to a table and nodded, and did not see seat with menus or anything. This might seem like a presumptuous claim, but my wife has worked in many well established restaurants, and the intervention was a clear sign of accommodating what this restaurant felt like were elite guests, compared to other guests. Overall, we are deeply disappointed in this establishment and we were so excited to try their cuisine. Went to Daniel's today for brunch. the atmosphere was nice although all else was mediocre. Nothing was "bad" but definitely did not live up to expectations. We had the bread service which was good nothing mind blowing (whipped ricotta I've had better in other establishments). The meatball was good as well as the ceviche; again it was good but just expected more for the prices and comparing it to other dining experiences. Main entrees the pasta was again average and we had the lobster with the linguine. Nothing out of the ordinary. Comparing these plates to Luca, Perry's or seafood to Joe stones (even other not as expensive restaurants) just left us a little disappointed. The ice cream which was advertised by many again just average. We honestly mentioned should've waited on dessert for Carvel. Again not bad but just....average. Not worth the price or hype. A cold slice of cake that left much to be desired (we ordered the Nutella chocolate cake) was $32 or 35 I honestly do not recall exact amount.... I mentioned we could've made one tastier for a quarter of the price. So many of these places are just hyped online and are so expensive yet so average. Nothing I would overly recommend and won't be going back. I normally don't mind prices and enjoy fine dining/ new experiences but As of late many leave me disappointed in buying in to the hype for just mediocre food at a high price point. We did not order alcohol besides a Bellini. The Bellini was ok although do not take my word for it (it's not a drink I like in general) so I won't speak much on it. So far very disappointing. After booking reservations days in advance, they gave our table away. We waited about 30 minutes for a new table. Additionally, hostess was extremely rude. The dinner was ok. We had bread, Caesar salad, and a fish crudo to start, filet, asparagus, twice baked potatoes and fries. The fries, twice baked potatoes and fish were great. Came specifically for the burger. Staff initially attempted to seat me at the bar. Due to a lack of any clear waitlist or system, another guest said they had been waiting and the seats were given to them instead. I was then told a table would be found for me. I waited an hour and a half. No table was ever offered and there was no follow-up or communication. During this time, the owner (Tom) repeatedly looked over but did not engage or acknowledge the situation, which made it clear we were not going to be helped. Eventually ended up eating at the bar anyway. The burger itself was a disappointment--topped with raw red bell peppers that overpower the meat and don't belong on a burger in any form. One of the few expensive restaurants in Miami where the food is actually good (the prime rib was the best I've ever had!) Unfortunately, they are very eager to get you out the door - you get 2 reminders within an hour of your reservation letting you know you only have a 15 minute grade period to make sure you arrive exactly on time. We arrived at 6:15 for our reservation and at 7:20pm they placed the bill on our table suggesting it was time for us to leave while we were still eating our one slice of chocolate cake that cost $35! I can understand a restaurant not wanting you to linger around but to force you out within 65 minutes like you're at iHop while sill eating your dessert - and paying about $250/per person - is ridiculous and ruins the experience. Most restaurants block off 90 minutes for a table for 2 (which is completely reasonable) but looks like Daniel's expects you out the door within 60 minutes! read more

We went to Daniel's for a birthday and had a wonderful time. We called a week in advance to see if they could fit us in for a reservation and they were able to accommodate, which was incredible! The service was incredible, our waiter was super attentive and knowledgeable on all things. Drinks were great as well, I got the winter in Miami and while it tasted a little bit like cold medicine to me because of the mix, it was still very well made and enjoyable. The lychee martini was 10/10 incredible. They also have a great wine list. The appetizers were the star of the show in my opinion (along with the sides), super tasty, perfectly cooked and very well balanced flavors. I ordered the filet mignon and it was incredible, but similar to what you would have at any nice steakhouse, so I would probably go with another one of their cuts, which looked top tier. The fish looked amazing as well, and I am definitely coming back to try their short rib lasagna - sounds delicious. For sides we got a ton of things and they were all so worth it. Twice baked potato took first place but we loved everything. Overall, had a great time here and while pricey, it was very worth it! read more

The food was pretty good except the bread service, which was pretty tasteless. Congested, everyone sitting in very close quarters. Can hear pretty much the entire conversation of people on both sides of us. The waiter was rushing us to place our entire order as soon as we sat down to try and get us in and out quickly. The drinks from the bar were good, but we're taking so long that we ended up almost cancelling the last round and ended up receiving them after we finished our entrees. Very disappointing ... ate there last night ,, very disappointed ..the waiters don't know what they're doing...they are lost...the food is super overpriced and small.. you can get the same quality food at half the price at Ruth's Chris or Prime 112...the sides were mediocre at best ..we had the cremini mushrooms that were bland and we ordered the oysters that were the smallest oysters you have ever seen....i ordered the 155 dollar comboy ribeye which was small and mediocre at best ...the dessert , the chocolate cake was common, nothing special..the bill for 5 of us was 1125.00 and so insanely mediocre ..I went to the bathroom and when I got back my plate was gone ??..why the F did the moron waiter take it without asking me???...and by the way when you take food to go they don't give it to you there , they tell you to get it at the front entrance and of course the bag they gave us was the wrong bag with the wrong food and you find out they gave you the wrong food when you get home when it's too late......check your take home bag before you leave the place..this seems to be a common screwup on there part...don't waste your money or time.. this place is just a novelty read more

The individual who answered the phone when my wife called to ask a question about the Valentine's Day menu was rude and dismissive. It's unfortunate that a restaurant with an otherwise strong reputation hires such inhospitable customer-facing employees. I would have loved to try the food, but I won't subject my family to that sort of attitude, especially when I know I'll be spending such an exorbitant amount of money for the same steak I can probably get for 1/2 price any place else in Coral Gables. Terrible experience. Service was awful--we had to ask for water at least five times. I ordered the Australian wagyu New York strip (medium rare). It came cut (even though I said no) and completely lacked flavor. My girlfriend's prime filet mignon was stiff, bland, and clearly low-grade--she works in the meat industry and spotted it immediately. The seating was even worse. Tables were only about six inches apart, so close I nearly sat on top of another table's food. On top of that, we were crammed next to the bar, making it loud and uncomfortable--I could barely have a conversation with my girlfriend. For the price and reputation, this place is not worth it. Daniels, another restaurant lost. We are here on Feb 9th. Reservation for 4. This restaurant was great when it opened and now just cares about how quickly they can turn over the table. We went as a family and my husband had chosen it for work functions a few times in the past. Unfortunately this time we felt like they couldn't wait for us to leave. (My husband wrote a review on Resy about this and they never even acknowledged it.) We asked the waiter if we could have a few minutes to finish our wine before ordering dessert and it seemed as if that was such an inconvenience. The Manager Tom ultimately brought our dessert and check at the same time. We were there for 1h40 min. I could understand if we had been sitting there for hours, but to spend over 600$ and feel like you need to get out as soon as you put your spoon down is just plain rude. Maybe it was the manager on duty that night because we had never experienced this before and most certainly don't feel the need to go back If that's how it's going to be.
