I used to be a meat is more important than the bread sandwich person, now I am the opposite. This was the best cheesesteak I have ever eaten and the sesame bread is the reason. Soft, chewy and packed with sesame flavor. It was served piping hot and I chose spicy peppers which is the move. The meat and cheese was great and the way they slice the onions is the chefs kiss. I am no cheesesteak purist and I didn't grow up in Philly, but anyone who thinks this is not a good cheesesteak is delusional. There was no line, but it was crowded. Took about 10 minutes to get my cheesesteak, worth the wait. The people working here were so nice and friendly. An employee came and greeted me while I was eating the cheesesteak and asked how it was, all I could do was give him a thumbs up because my mouth was full of delicious cheesesteak and even better bread. It was so much food that I wish I had only eaten half the sandwich and saved the rest for later. for $18.00 It is actually great value for the quality. I had heard of Angelo's since it's such a big Philly spot, but I had never been. I went with someone from Philly to see what they thought as well. I had seen that when it opened some people waited in line 3 hours! I was hoping since Bradley Cooper wasn't there it wouldn't be as slow. I went around when it opened on a Sunday (noon) and only had to wait in line 20 minutes. After we placed our order, we waited for another 20-30 minutes inside the shop. It's very simple which I liked, only cheesesteak! When you pick it up they allow you to pick sweet or hot peppers to add as well. They also use cooper sharp cheese on their sandwich which I liked. Similar to the original Angelo's, they use a sesame roll and it was perfect. The whole cheesesteak was delicious in my opinion and it hit all the marks I wanted! The person I went with said Angelo's was better, but I think this is the best one I've had in nyc! There's not really anywhere to sit so I suggest taking it to go and sitting in a park when it's nice out. read more

Quality went down the drain sooooo fast. When they first opened the Sandiwch was def worth the wait and price. It feels as if the team who put in the effort to make it great is no longer there and now you have to pay for inferior product. It was definitely awesome experience..The place was a little packed but we walked In Straight to the register to conduct our business, very informative, very nice & took our order .She says a 20 minute wait & we was both excited wasn't a long line ect. I'm not a big cheese steak fan- I'll start with that. One of the guys I was working with, however, is a big fan. So, I conceded to going to this spot. First, customer service was top notch. Dude at the counter, very pleasant and super accommodating. Food was good but just on the salty side. Bread was very good though, and overall the sandwich was solid. Listen, I love the fact that Bradley Cooper is trying to bring a great Philly cheese steak to NYC but until they find a solution with the bread issue(they get it delivered from Philly instead of freshly made)it's just going to be second tier to Fedoroff's cheesesteak in Brooklyn. Came on a late Saturday afternoon and this place was packed! There was a line but it moved very quick as there's only one item on the menu. There is no chairs, but there is a long counter that runs along the side of the restaurant you can stand to eat at. It's fairly high though for anyone who might be on the shorter side. The wait wasn't long, maybe 15-20 minutes at most but it was definitely worth it! It smelled absolutely delicious in the restaurant while I was waiting and it made me more excited to try it. The cheesesteak itself was absolutely what you would expect - great grilled meat, cheese, and a solid sourced bread. However, for $22+ you would expect a lot more. You would expect the restaurant to put peppers ON the sandwich and not on the side. You'd expect some sort of side, as opposed to the "option" to request a bag to take the sandwich home - which of course is a necessity because they don't have actual tables. As a New Yorker for over 30 years and a Philly resident for over 10 years, cheesesteaks and the Liberty Bell are the only things NYC doesn't have that Philly can brag about, except maybe a good football team. Now, I've never been to Angelo's, but my brother-in-law, who still lives in Philly, raved about it. I tried a few times during my visits, but there was always a line. Was there earlier today. Waited on line, ordered a cheesesteak and asked the young lady at the desk to please hold the onions. She told me they can not do that and that I have to have onions. I asked her two more times if she would be able to please just have it made for me with no onions like every other place I have ever had a cheesesteak do. She would not budge. From Philly. Just an average steak sandwich. I walked in not to busy nobody on line ordered my sandwich. It took 25 minutes to get my sandwich. The sandwich had to much cheese the meat had no color to it. It seemed like it steamed in its juices and not seared on flat top. The roll was good. G'S steak shop down on ave B and Houston just as good. I like having Italian long hots with my sandwich neither place has them. I probably won't go back. To start if I compare it to the other Cheesesteaks I've had in NYC then it's one of the better ones. If I compare it to Angelos in Philly it falls short. The meat is seasoned well and the cooper sharp is as good as the one in Philly. But the bread! Who knew the bread could be so important-I mean people always talk about it being that important but I experienced it first hand here. Angelos in Philly I ate the Cheesesteak so fast because it's that good. The one here I had to take a break after eating half. Why? Because the friggin bread is too hard! I almost was going to take it home but I wanted to finish it since it was in front of me and hot. When I go to Angelos in Philly I always get one to eat there and I bring one home in a cooler to eat later. And even when I reheat the extra one in the toaster oven the bread still wasn't as hard as this fresh one. Also the sweet pepper and hot pepper situation is a little odd. I asked for both of them and they said it would be .50 cents extra which was fine and it had to be on the side. So when I picked up the sandwich I had 2 little cups with a mix of both sweet and hot inside each one. At Angelos they just ask you which you want and then they put it on there for you or on the side if you want. Just a little difference but I like the Angelos way better. Since they gave me 2 little cups I would have figured that it would have Sweet in one and Hot in the other. Nope! Had a mix of both in each cup. What was the point then in getting 2 of the same cups? Odd. Wait time was about 15 minutes or so. No line inside but some people outside milling about waiting for their food. No Mr. Cooper only the cheese so the crazy waits may be over from now on. I thought this would mean I can have my Angelos here in NYC.. no...looks like I'll still have to make the trek to Philly if I want the best Cheesesteak! read more

Big fan of the rolls. This is a "me" problem but I do wish you could opt out of the onions. Literally the only thing you can customize is your choice of sweet or spicy peppers on the side. When you do something because you really love what it's gonna taste like that that's what this is all about I've driven to Philly to have a cheesesteak and honestly this is better. First of all the music was so loud, I had to yell out loud my order to a very nice Cashier. I asked her for mayonnaise on my sandwich, To my disappointment, I was told they didn't have any, Not even the garlic mayonnaise they say they have on the website. Not even any mustard. I had to go to the deli next-door and buy a jar of mayonnaise to add to my sandwich. The sandwich's cost $18.00 + tax. They were nice and big, very meaty, the bread was excellent. Now they charged $3.25 For a small/ mini Coke. My friend and I sat across the street in a crowded park. We're almost everybody had a sandwich from Danny's and coops. I must say "I will not be going to Philadelphia anymore to buy the Philly cheesesteak, when I could just take a ride down to E. 9th St. ave A and support Bradley Cooper's restaurant" And I will definitely be bringing my own mayonnaise and my garlic sauce. And will be buying my drinks at the deli next door. I'm Spanish we like it that way. P.S. To the right hand corner of the restaurant is a fabulous place to get ice cream. Today was a good day. I love that there's just one item on the menu - I am bad at making decisions when I'm hungry - but they made it easy. Just the steak and hot or sweet peppers and ketchup.
