Great food and cheap...food was great. Fried chicken was tasty especially the mash and fried okra...

Went into Danny's for the first time ever. It was also my last time ever. I asked the rude lady at the counter if there was a chicken sandwich combo, and she said "yes, it comes with fries and a drink." I asked if I could have potato salad instead of fries, and she rudely said "No." I said I would pay extra, that I just didn't want fries. She said "No. that's the way it's advertised." I said "so I can't have potato salad?" And she said, "No, you'll have to talk to the owner." Lol. So I just walked out. Great customer service there Danny's! Damn, that potato salad must be amazing, as it's on lock down, and requires the owners special permission. One star is too many for this place. read more

Better than kfc for fried chicken that is not too greasy, fairly basic menu though. Would probably go back sometime but in no hurry.

I received great praise for finding this place on yelp. I had the chicken strips, red beans, fries, sweet tea (dilute with regular tea or risk a serious glucose spike), and lemon meringue pie. Spent about $12. My three friends all had the fried chick and there wasn't a scrap left. Two had pecan pie...one thought it may have been the best he ever had. The breading on the strips, looked the same on the chicken, was light, flavorful, and crispy. Very unassuming exterior and interior, but very clean and fast courteous service. Wish I lived closer, but glad I don't. Great little find...hope to make it back someday. read more

I have been eating at Danny's since I was a little kid and its still to this day one of my favorite places to eat. They aren't the cheapest place to go if you are on a budget, but their food is well worth what it costs. I have never been disappointed! My family used to eat here when I was a kid living in Niceville in the early 80's. I was in town for a visit more than 30 years later and had talked the place up to my husband. He agreed with me. Danny's has a Blue Plate Special that's different every weekday and Thursday's is my favorite: Fried pork chop, turnip greens with ham, field peas with ham, along with jalapeño cornbread or biscuit. I'm a grown man. And when I ordered the $4.99 three piece meal I never thought I'd be a stuffed as I find myself right this minute. The fried chicken is fantastic - not greasy and with great seasoning. Beans and sides were solid, and the giant fluffy biscuits really bring it all together. The ambience is like a fast food place that never got their branding or decor - and frankly it doesn't need it. For 16 dollars we fed a family of four before crossing the bridge to Destin where it would have cost us forty bucks. read more

The food here at Danny's is always great. The only complaint I have is the way you are greeted in the drive thru. I drove to the window and the gentleman open the window and said nothing just stood there looking at me. I had to ask him what is my total for I food. He gave me back my change and said pull up where cooking your food. It would had been nice if he was more polite. This place is a disgrace. I was there on 12 July 2016 and my experience there has to rank high on my list of worst place ever to eat. First I wanted some catfish and a local friend mentioned that the chicken was okay and that this place also sold catfish. I received what was supposed to be catfish. After one bite and realizing it was not fully cooked largely due to the fish is cooked using the same batter used for their chicken. The second thing I noticed is what they are selling as catfish is not catfish. The texture of the fish gives it away. It is probably Swai which commonly passed off as catfish. Being a southerner catfish, bar b que, and fried chicken is something I know about. After not being able to eat the fish, I told the male cashier that the fish was horrible and I ordered a 3 piece chicken. The chicken on a scale of 1 to 10 was a 5. Certainly not what I was expecting or accustomed too. Last what prompted me to write this review is the unsatisfactory customer service. I couldn't care less about the $14.00 I spent there. The lady that I spoke to said "sir you should have told us to fry the fish hard in a very nasty tone". How would I known the fish would undercooked and mushy. She went on to mumbled with a coworker and rudely stated the charges want appear on your card. I kindly told her not worry about it, just considered advertising cost. I hope the lady owns the place because if not management should definitely get rid of her. Her personality don't fit the job she has! Definitely do not eat here. Ironically when I mentioned this place to some of my colleagues and they expressed a similar experiences at Danny's. read more

Not much to see here. The place looks old and boring but that's not really what you should be concerned about. What you should be concerned about is the quality of the chicken and let me tell you this: you won't find better fried chicken anywhere. ANYWHERE! Just had the chicken finger dinner with fries and biscuits. The chicken was perfectly fried and I had no bites that were just fried batter. Danny's has been in Niceville for as long as I can remember and there's a reason for that..it is consistently excellent...some of the best fried chicken on The Emerald Coast with a batter that has a great flavor and a crunch that blows away some of the bigger chains like the miserable KFC across the street...others tell me their Fried Catfish is some of the best in town as well...my secret tip is to always get their Chicken and Dumplings as one of your sides...incredible they let you get this as a side because it's good and filling enough to be an entrée...I have started buying containers of the Chicken and Dumplings to go because it's the best I have found in the area...some of the sides like the mashed potatoes and gravy should be avoided(straight out of a box) but the red beans and rice and French fries are good side choices also...only reason Danny's is not getting 5 stars from me is that the place could use a good cleaning/remodeling(unavoidable in a place that fries all day)..the staff uniforms are orange and blue(is this joint owned by Gators?)..and one of the cooks who is a Gator Fan started giving me grief about FSU and Jameis Winston the week after FSU walloped Florida(like I told the guy..dude it's not my fault UF'S Head Coach will be back there at this time next year frying chicken and fish with you)...food wise Danny's is a solid 4.5 if you order right; so avoid the chain joints and spend locally here..just ignore the jealous Cook!! read more

My family and I eat there at least twice a month and it's usually take out. This past Saturday, family from Crestview went there for a late lunch about 2:30. Since in the seating area was packed, we decided to eat outside. Food is always fresh and never disappoints BUT the staff that day was totally unfriendly. Especially the young man that was manning the front counter. Didn't matter that I was trying to be extra pleasant when I noticed his cold demeanor. Destin Trip 2015.....FINALLY! We found a restaurant that didn't disappoint or rip you off around Destin! It is across the toll Mid Bay bridge in Niceville. We came back through Fort Walton to make the trip more scenic. It is just a fast food chicken place that had fresh tasty food all three times we went. Some real standouts were their sides. Red beans and rice had chunks of sausage and tasted authentic and great. Mashed potatoes were buttery, mac and cheese was really good. We opted to pay $1 more for biscuits instead of rolls...AWESOME biscuits. Catfish was exceptional also. We went during the off season it was still VERY busy with locals. We started going early or mid afternoon to avoid the rush. They have a drive thru, but we went into to get carryout all three times. Will definitely go back next year! read more
