My mom stopped by recently because her turn signal light bracket was cracked and the turn signal light wasn't seated correctly, and they fixed it for no charge. If I could give this place zero stars I would. The guy that runs this shop was incredibly condescending and absolutely rude. I took my car in for an estimate for services as my car was having difficulties starting and I suspected it either needed new brakes or rotors or both. I thanked him and had estimates done elsewhere as well to make sure I found the best deal I could as I'm disabled and on a fixed income, and I let this guy know this. The quote ended up being quite high compared to other shops. Thankfully a friend of mine who lives in Oregon, who is a mechanic offered to come up and work on it for the day after finding out what I was quoted. After my friend finish the job on the brakes, starter, and replacing the sparkplugs, headed back to Oregon as he needed to get back home for work. I then realized that he had mistakenly forgotten to put one of the hubcaps back on, no big deal. He had also told me before he left that I would need to have one of the sparkplug boots adjusted as it wasn't seated properly and hadn't brought a proper tool to reseat the boot, as he hadn't anticipated this happening. He would have done it but he was on limited time to get the car done and get back to Oregon for work the next day. Okay again, no big deal. I was grateful he could do the work for 1/2 the price I would have paid at Dan's Auto Repair. So I thought no biggie, I'll take it to Dan's and have these two minor things done, which should have cost no more than $50 for the 10 minutes it took for him to do it. Well, I took the car to Dan's, was told sure, they could do the repair and that it would take perhaps 10 or 15 minutes. Thinking it was only going to cost no more than $50 for such little time and effort, and it literally only did end up taking 10 to 15 minutes, was charged $100! I was rudely and condescendingly, flat out told, the reason why he was charging me so much was as a punishment for having had the work done elsewhere and having to clean up someone else's mess. I had considered making this shop my primary shop for car repairs, but after the way I was treated by this guy (Taller Asian man), this obviously will not be happening. I have and will be letting people know, to stay away from this place as they over charge and are very unprofessional, condescending and flat out very rude! This man knew, I was in a financial bind, and "Punished me" for having found someplace within my budget. Please don't take your car here if you wanted be treated with kindness and compassion. I wish I would have read other reviews before going here, there are a lot of other very bad experiences as well. Lesson learned. read more

I went in Saturday and was told my AC compressor was seized and my serpentine belt broke. I asked how he new it had seized and he said he tried to turn it, and it would not turn. $1,500 new parts $850 for rebuilt. I was suspicious and went under my car, and the AC turned. I took it down to Rose Street Auto and he told me everything was working and it needed and a new belt $150.00 in and out. read more

This was one of the worse experiences I've had with a mechanic. my car was in his shop for a week and he didn't know what exactly was wrong. customer service was lacking. he was rude to myself and my family memebers, when all they were trying to do is tell him the problem we found. I would not recommend this shop. They will add more problems then what you went there for. Dan himself is a liar. Completely untrustworthy POS. Wouldn't trust them with any of my vehicles. I don't know a thing about cars. If I needed to I could borrow some tools and change my oil or replace a tire but beyond that I'm useless. So, when my wife told me that there was awful metal-on-metal screeching when the car moved I was in bad shape. After asking around I was directed to Dan's. They got me in right away, diagnosed my car quickly and even pulled me under the lift with a flashlight to show me what was wrong. If I had the money then I could have driven it home a couple hours later but I didn't so when I was ready I just went and got it. Turns out my bank sucks and I had about half the money but he told me to pay what I could and come back when my checks went through. Overall very trustworthy, trusting, and quick. As long as you don't mind that they chain smoke in the little office you're good to go!! read more

I have been going to Dan's for over 2 years. They have done the brakes on two of my cars and misc other work on them as well. A good example of their way of doing business occurred last year. I got in my car to go to work and pulled away from my house to hear an awful sound coming from under my car. When I looked under the car, I could not identify the source of the noise. I drove over to Dan's and they put the car up on a lift and found part of the panel that protects the bottom of the engine compartment had come loose. They fixed it on the spot and charged me $15 for the repair. I was in and out in 10 minutes and it cost me much less than I expected. I used Yelp to find a place to get a quick repair on my car, and found this repair shop close to my house. I was very happy with the way i was treated and the quality and immediacy of the service. Plus, it was really cheap. The only complaint i have is they only take cash, so i had to walk down the street to the ATM so i could pay. Good experience all around though! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I brought my car in for an estimate and get a call the next day saying its been FIXED!!! I come in to get my car and complain that I wasn't given an estimate and he goes off the deep end telling his employee in another language to pull everything out and get the car to start so we can go home and my car wouldn't be functional again, then he goes outside and begins to kick and beat on my car. I had to call the police just to get my car back without further damage. I wouldn't take my worse enemies car there. read more

STAY AWAY!! I've been going to DAN'S AUTO for almost 10 yrs I've NEVER had an issue he (DAN the owner) didn't rectify. However, I recently took my car in for an oil leak. Dan called me & told me it needed an oil change, back brakes & a tune up-I paid him over $500.00. Not even two months later I had to take my car in again because I continued to smell oil, I seen oil on the ground near my car when returning to it & NOW my check engine light came on for a moment & then went off. When I arrived at DAN"S AUTO REPAIR, Dan the owner was not there. I spoke w/a person name STEVE (who I never met prior), I told him I had been in before & my car is still smelling like oil, leaking oil & my heater doesn't work now. After lifting my car up--SIMON (who I am familiar with) & STEVE (who I do not know at all) looked at my car as well as another man of Asian decent. STEVE came over to me & told me that it looked as if I had a busted transmission seal, it was a big job. He proceeded to show me what a seal was by showing me a transmission which was in the garage on the concrete floor at that time. He told me they would have to remove my transmission & the job would cost about $3000.00 By now Dan the owner is pulling up & heads into the shop office-I proceed in after him. He ask me SPEAKING ENGLISH "What is wrong?" I explained to him that I had recently brought my car in about a month & a half ago for what I told him was what I thought to be an oil leak & he told me (DAN the owner) that I only needed a oil change, a tune up, & back breaks. I continued to tell him NOW STEVE is telling me there is an oil leak and it will cost me $3000.00?" Dan assured me by saying IN ENGLISH "OH NO, I am NOT going to charge you that much, no where near that because me & you we go waaaay back!" I said to DAN the owner "well STEVE told me I had a busted Transmission Seal?" DAN the owner told me "You deal with me" , "I will look at it & call you." I called my mother for a ride & when I left Dan's I was satisfied because I spoke with DAN the owner & he assured me HE (DAN the owner) would look at it & the cost would be NO WHERE NEAR $3000.00 as STEVE had suggested to me earlier. I waited two days & no call from DAN the owner as he told me he would do & has done so many times in the past (8 years) since I have been his customer. So I decided to stop by after my day ended on my way home from work. DAN the owner was there with STEVE at the computer in the front office, I asked him had he looked at my car yet, he said he hadn't had the opportunity as of yet, but would get to it as soon as he could & he would call me. So I said okay & I proceeded to give him $500.00 on good faith & I told him to please get to me as soon as he could because I needed my vehicle to get to work & I was borrowing my mother's vehicle. He said okay. Two more days pass... I called DAN"S AUTO & DAN the owner answered the phone. I asked him had he looked at my car & he said the same thing as before, that he has been really busy & he would try to look at it by tomorrow & give me a call. By now I am beginning to worry & I asked him "well, how much for the parts?" He (DAN the owner) said "I don't know because I haven't had a chance to check it out"' So I said "Do you know the parts I need because I can go buy them?" He (DAN the owner) said " I will call you & let you know." Two days later he called me while I was at work & told me my vehicle was done! I was Shocked because he (DAN the owner) never even called me like he usually does (in the past 8 years) & like he said he would to explain to me what was wrong with my car or the cost. I said "How much?" He (DAN the owner) said "$2400.00." I was floored! Dan (the owner) & my history: DAN (the owner) has always made me believe I was getting a deal even if his prices were a little high (always over $500.00) I knew it was good work & NEVER had a complaint without DAN the owner making sure it was fixed, pronto! Therefore, I was willing to pay for honest, good, trustworthy work regardless if the work was too high (according to my family a DAN the owner would in the past: allow me to use his loaner truck while my vehicle got repaired, allowed me to go thirty days or more & pay payments on my bill & take my vehicle, fixed family & friends vehicles at a drop of a dime & I even had his (DAN the owner's) personal cell number for emergencies. Today, I am without a car because my car wasn't fixed right & is still leaking oil, Dan the owner had me deal w/STEVE for the remainder of this situation. I never gave ANYONE permission (signed or otherwise) to work on my vehicle & til this day I DO NOT know what was wrong with my car (it has been 2 weeks), DAN"S AUTO said I owe them $2249.00 total and they claim they already subtracted my $500.00 deposit.
