I have to start by saying that my first visit to Daps left me wanting more and I got it the second time I went. On my first trip to Daps we ordered the fruity pebble pancakes (duh), the breakfast burrito, and the Big Meaty hash. Everything was tasty, but not tasty enough to justify spending $40 on breakfast... The fruity pebble pancakes were great to put on the 'gram, but they just tasted like regular pancakes. The Big Meaty Hash was pretty small, although we got the double order. We left feeling like we didn't get our money's worth. Now we jump to my second visit where I got the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich. At $6.50, it is reasonably priced and you get a lot of egg and delicious cheese sauce. Next time I'm hungover, I know I will be craving it! Overall, I think their menu is a bit overpriced for breakfast food, but it is tasty! read more

Hands down the best breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burrito in Charleston. I first had daps last summer and when I was planning to visit again, Daps was on the list of places to eat at. The chickpea is quite possible the best breakfast sandwich I ever had. The spices are perfect. Sweet salty and a little spicy. If this place was in Charlotte I'd be there weekly. Better than I expected! I've been wanting to come for years and finally made it. Got the BLT on herbed bread. Sooo good. Bread soft, vegetables bright, taste perfect. Pictured is the berry french toast. It's not overly sweet and is on their own berry bread! And the hash was so good we didn't need condiments! And the cortado is on point! We arrived a bit late for brunch and were treated very warmly by the owner. He did advise us there was an hour wait in the kitchen for food. Since we've eaten here before that did not discourtesy from waiting. The food is totally worth it. We sat at the bar and had some refreshing drinks as we watched football and talked amongst ourselves. The staff was fantastic; we sparked up conversation with the owner and loved how down to earth and charismatic he was. They remained attentive to everyone (packed house) and updated us on the status of our order. This made the time fly by while we waited. I was surprisingly underwhelmed by this place. It was easy service with the walk up counter and the staff was very nice but the food really fell short for me. I ordered this beautiful dish - the veggie toast - and I almost didn't want to eat it as the presentation was wonderful. Finally I decided I could only look at it for so long and dove right in to salt. That was all I tasted. I was so disappointed. There were only a few vegetarian items on the menu and I was so hopeful with this one. My husband ordered the regular breakfast that came with scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon and hash browns. The taste of his? Salt. Another friend ordered the chorizo biscuits and gravy. He said it tasted ok but it did not look appetizing... This place defines hipster dining. A mix of retro and modern with unbelievably great food. Came here for Sunday brunch and enjoyed some of the best food I have had down here in Charleston. The pork cake mash is an absolute masterpiece. The pork belly was so succulent and cooked to perfection you could break it apart with just the wait of your fork. The side of apple Jack's pancake was the perfect blend of delicate flavors and childhood nostalgia. The apple on top was like pieces of apple pie, and the pancake it self was cinnamon heaven. Their create your own adventure drink was fun, but also refreshing and sophisticated. They knew exactly what I wanted even though I didn't. Daps opened on the Westside of Charleston peninsula earlier this year.  The team converted a sweet little historical house into a bright and airy breakfast spot that perfectly fits the neighborhood.  While it's in a pretty residential section, I've honestly never had trouble finding street parking (one of the things Charlestonians will tell you is clutch when going out and about).  While there isn't a parking garage or lot nearby, the spots in front of Daps are not "residential only" as many are in the area.  Plus, it's only a few blocks from Hampton Park, so one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend morning is to park at Hampton, walk down to Daps for brunch, and take a stroll around the park to burn off all those mimosa and pancake calories. The first time we went to Daps (after following them on Instagram for months) was for brunch on Easter Sunday.  Fruity Pebbles pancakes seemed like a novelty that I had to try, and after giving up sweets for Lent, you know that was at the top of the list.  Well, let me tell you, they absolutely live up to the hype.  They're fluffy, sweet, cooked to perfection, and topped with honey butter - what else could you ask for?! When you walk into Daps, you first order at the counter, grab your drink of choice, and take a seat with your number to wait for your food.  If you're wondering what to drink, I think the sign outside tells you everything you need to know: Mimosas. On. Tap.  If beer is more your style, they have a great local selection on tap, in addition to a full bar with lots of unique cocktails.  Okay, now back to the food.  In addition to the pancakes (which I've now had a few times), I'm obsessed with their folded egg sandwiches.  Take a homemade English muffin, and top it with eggs, bacon, and a delicious melted cheese sauce - just yum!  If you're looking for a side to share, the hash is so good and comes in both half and full orders.  Try the "Big Meaty" with bacon, sausage, and country ham!  Honestly, you cannot go wrong at Daps! read more

I have heard a lot about this place, and finally had the opportunity to try it. It's located off the beaten path which I think adds to the allure, tucked away from the crowds of downtown. If you're not careful, you will drive right past it. The menu is simple, but appetizing with different unique pancakes being offered. On this visit I had the fruity pebbles pancakes. They were good, but I would have been happy with a little more of the pebbles in mine. Did I mention they also have mimosas on tap? I felt they were a little expensive considering there are places on King Street that offer them cheaper. However, don't let that discourage you from giving this place a try! read more

Absolutely one of the best places we've been to for breakfast!!! My family recently visited Charleston for family vocation and we always like going out to eat. I always look up places in yelp and they had great rating so we gave them a try. Food was exceptional, ambiance was great, service was amazing!!! Even though it's self-serve place, Andrew was kind enough to take time and take our order (even though some people in our party were more difficult than others, he was extremely understanding, professional, gracious, and funny!) Loved this pop up! They will soon be moving into a brick and mortar on Ashley Ave., but for now they're doing pop ups and I love it. We got the Fruity Pebbles pancakes and the chorizo sausage and egg biscuit. They threw on some guacamole that was leftover from breakfast nachos that they sold out of and it was fantastic. They should add the guacamole as a side to that biscuit every day. The Fruity Pebbles pancakes were insanely good too. The honey butter on top was awesome. We enjoyed Daps Breakfast pop up at Charles Towne Fermentory this past Sunday for brunch. Our order included 1) a bacon, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich, 2) a chorizo sausage gravy w/egg breakfast sandwich, and 3) we had to order pancakes, so we went with the apple jack pancakes w/apple compote. All were good, and enjoyable, but the clear winner were the pancakes. They were thick large pancakes, almost whole wheat looking, yet tasted delicious, & served hot. The apple compote was a great flavor add on and I wanted more. The breakfast sandwiches though were just ok for us. The meats included on each were good, as the bacon was perfect in flavor. But the amount of egg was less than expected, and the English muffins a little too hard to cut with fork & knife. Then the cheese on the bacon & egg was more a cheese sauce than just melted cheese. It was good start to the day, and we think Daps will succeed with breakfast for all to enjoy. read more
