I've been to Dario many times and it never disappoints! I recently brought my Italian parents who were visiting MN from out of town. They don't like anything and they LOVED Dario. You're not going to get a heaping pile of pasta--it's not that kind of restaurant. There are smaller portions because it's homemade and each piece should be savored. The one dish we always order is the Doppio. I was disappointed that they phased out the ricotta dumplings but there's no shortage of amazing options otherwise. The potato and fennel starters are divine too. Service is always fantastic and the restaurant itself is beautifully designed. So happy to have access to such a wonderful pasta joint. read more

I came in curious after seeing Dario on the Eater website and I had a lovely experience. Paige took great care of me at the bar and her recommendation for the gardener's break cocktail after a muggy day outside was perfect. For the main, don't hesitate and just order the Doppio ravioli, fresh pasta with two fillings ending in a fantastic combination of sweet and savory all in one bite. Everything was awesome. Literally everything. We sat in the pasta room. I would recommend sitting there - once you get past sharing the massive table with other people not in your party, the atmosphere is lights out. Music isn't overwhelming, service is on point and you get an inside look at how they make their pasta......which btw is your why for going. You can taste the pasta passion in each bite. The spicy sausage rigatoni alla vodka was exactly that...spicy.....and worth every bite. The rigatoni there made me want to learn how to make pasta. I can't remember the name of the dessert - but don't skip it. It has a polenta cookie with a creme and Carmel apple.....I'd go back just for that, but sadly they have crazy good pasta and my tummy would be angry if I didn't eat more pasta. read more

I am vacillating between a 3 and a 4 star and if i could, Dario would be a solid 3.5. But since I can't and with the incredibly slow and clunky service and higher price point, my review will be a 3. I love the space. It has a light and airy feel and the open kitchen makes its a vibrant room. The menu is organized with raw, hot and cold starters, pastas, and entrees. We opted to try the beets, two pastas and an entree. It was definitely more than enough. If served with the pastas, the beets would have been fine but alone, it was simply too acidic. Pastas were the highlight. The doppio ravioli was earthy and rich and the bolognese lived up to its name. Our pork belly entree was solid but for $26 was creeping into "not worth it". The lowlight of the meal was the very slow and clunky service. We had to wait over 30 minutes between our starter and pastas and at times, our waiter was nowhere to be found. Because of the poor timing, it felt almost like 3 meals vs. one cohesive one. Would I come back? Probably but not guaranteed. I don't know if the pastas are that good to command a repeat. read more

Great pasta, great presentation, good cocktails, very mediocre desserts. Had the short rid agnolotti, the spaghetti alla chitarra limone, the char siu pork belly, and the cauliflower. All decent. I can't tell if it's too expensive or if it's just how it is now, but everything is slightly smaller than I expected for the price. Ehh, it's inflation, kids! Got the chocolate cake dessert and it is SO unrefined, I was shocked. It's good...but it's good in the way you could go to Trader Joe's or Hy-Vee, pick up a chocolate cake, cover it in a very small scoop of mediocre ice cream, and a too thick wafer crisp for half the price. Dario! If you're reading, you need to elevate your dessert game!! You can't go this strong for cocktails and mains to trip at the dessert finish line. My favorites were their G & T (their house made tonic is outrageous) and the Gardener's Break. 12/10 The SALADS- Crunchy Vegetable salad with the jalapeño dressing was something I've never experienced before, the best salad of my entire life. My only option was rigatoni with red sauce. It was good, but I wouldn't have come here and spent the money for rigatoni with red sauce. The pasta tasted delicious, but it was definitely under done. I love my pasta al dente but this was getting stuck in my teeth and almost crunchy. It would be great if they could consider making some of their dishes with olive oil or removing the dairy. read more

What an amazing place this is. The food was fabulous and the service was top notch. We got a handful of items off the menu board. Everything we got was so delicious and put together with a lot of TLC. Our favorite dish was the butternut squash Scarpinocc. I could eat about eighty of these!! The down side to this place is the noise. The restaurant was download and it was hard to have a conversation. I was so distracted by Al the conversations going on I could not hear my wife. Spectacular experience at Dario! We ordered several dishes to share. Favorites were Oysters Dario, fennel salad, crunchy veggie salad, doppio pasta, pork belly, and flowering cauliflower. All the pastas dishes were really fantastic and made in- house daily. It's nice to have N/A cocktail options served in beautiful glassware with fancy ice to feel equally as celebratory as the spirited options. The pineapple dessert was light and tasty and not too sweet. Our meal was satisfying but not heavy feeling afterwards, as often occurs after pasta. Friendly, helpful service. Fun mix of music. We parked in nearby ramp C, which is a quick 2 minute walk to the restaurant. Hoping they will add a patio in the summer months as the restaurant is tucked in a quiet pocket of the busy North Loop. read more

The restaurant is very beautiful. The space is fairly large and there are different coves for seating. There's also a decent size bar area. The restaurant is also very aesthetically pleasing. Our server was great and explained everything to us. He was also very knowledgeable about the food choices. I would say the food was just okay. Nothing really to rave about. I don't think there was a single thing we had that I could say was phenomenal. The portion sizes are small, but it's definitely good for a tapas style meal if you get enough. Food was phenomenal. I came here with a friend to try it and we were both blown away by our meals. I got the Spaghetti alla Chitarra Limone and it was delicious. The Calabrian chilis gave it a nice heat, though it wasn't too crazy hot. I tried a bite of my friends pasta which was the Spicy Rigatoni alla Vodka which was also so good but we both agreed the spaghetti was the stand out. We also split the flowering cauliflower and we devoured it. The sauce was otherworldly. We finished it off with the cake and ice cream which was pretty standard but good nonetheless. My main gripe and the reason I knocked a star was how loud it was in there. I know a busy restaurant can get noisy but they had super loud and bizarre music playing. There was one song that sounded like it belonged in an immersive art experience, and then it cut to a rap song I'd hear in college bars. Since the music was so loud everyone talked louder and I could barely hear my friend who was sitting across from me three feet away. It kind of killed the vibe. Never going back. Just went to Dario for the first time on a friends' recommendation. The food is fantastic. The service was superb. BUT I WILL NEVER GO BACK for one reason. The music is unrelentingly and annoyingly loud. No way to have a conversation. Why would you pay this much money and not even be able to talk to the people that you go out with? The thump thump deep bass gave us all headache. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! How can you enjoy the food with your fingers in your ears?!! We asked repeatedly for them to turn it down. Our request fell on deaf ears, literally. According to our server this is the #1 complaint that they get at the restaurant. And for some reason the executive chef refuses to listen to his customers. I will never recommend this restaurant to any of my friends because the noise was so annoying. Dario is only up in six months and if the Chef doesn't listen to his customers it'll be gone in six months. read more

Possibly the best meal I've ever had in Minneapolis. The potatoes with Tabasco was off the charts as was the Doppio, fusilli, and spicy rigatoni. All incredibly flavorful with a nice kick, without the usual blast of sodium. But no shortage of butter and cream. The cauliflower and beef short rib was also very good. I'll start with saying I look forward to trying this place again. I wasn't in the mood for pasta my first visit so I only had a bit of a friends (excellent), and instead went heavy into the vegetables (so many sounded great) and an app (...kind of a disaster -- okay it was a *TOTAL* disaster but not for want of trying). This spot is located in the mass-timer T3 building (aka the Amazon building) in the space that was previously home to an incredibly overrated hipstery barbecue joint of which the best I can say is it's thankfully gone -- Dario is what deserved to be in the spot from the beginning. The vegetables menu is intriguing, with warm and cold options. I recommend each one I tried: The Flowering Cauliflower was a phenomenal assembly of a brown butter bagna cauda sauce over the veggie with capers and a thin toasted sourdough. The Red Endive is a pleasant variation on the classic dish of putting a blue cheese (in this case roquefort), sweet flavor (candied walnut, dates), and fruit (Asian pear) on an firm endive leaf. Works great. The Marinated Beets use a sauce gribiche (cold egg sauce) with delicate crisscross dill pickle chips. A solid entry. The Cucumber placed thick slices on a bed of whipped feta tzatziki and topped it with dill and smoked trout roe. The flavors worked well together. The appetizer sounded promising, but just did not work. *At.* *All.* "Oysters Dario" offers a half-dozen oysters with a spicy beef tartare and frozen lime on top. Sounded intriguing! The place definitely is trustworthy with raw meat. Unfortunately the thought process and the end product have a major disconnect: the cooled raw beef ground beef is piled on the oyster, with a ball of frozen lime on top... The moment you bring this cooled oyster your mouth you sense yourself inhaling and smelling *raw ground beef*. It's horrid. That's not how a proper beef tartare is served in most restaurants. The raw ground beef and spices are so overwhelming that I honestly had no idea if there was an actual oyster under there. The lime ball was another poorly executed idea: it's so cold it never melts and the flavor is too mild to compete with the mouthful of raw, spiced ground beef. The texture of the ice ball is off-putting after already dealing with the kind of gross sensation of filling your nostrils with the aroma of raw ground beef. This dish ain't gonna win any awards. I'm shocked an adult thought this was a good idea. Oh, and it's $30. The cocktails were good, the Synclaire After Hours (Dimmi, Malfy Aranciata, hibiscus tea, sparkling) was the most memorable. The service was pleasant, nothing outstanding but about right for a restaurant of this caliber. I hope to try this place again for pasta, some more of the vegetable options. I hope they come to their senses on those oysters -- or maybe I just had the new cook's failed attempt at something that was better? read more

I love the Minneapolis food scene, however, this might top the cake of disappointment. I ate 3 $28 freezer premade noodle dishes. One was called spaghetti. It tasted like a bottle of franks hot red had been added to NOODLES! Also make sure you order a bottle from the wine list. I was told my terrible red from the glass menu was now a $84 bottle. I also put that my 7 year anniversary was celebrated. I was kindly brought 2 glasses of pino.... That also took part of $8 on my bill! Wave goodbye to Dario! read more
