    Tuna sandwich
    Omar A.

Sandwiches taste great freshly made to order. They're a bit on the pricey side, but then again, what isn't. You do get your money's worth. The menu has a variety of items that include soups and pastas. If you're hungry, don't get the tuna. I personally didn't feel there was much in it, get the turkey or pastrami instead. The wheat bread is tasty, that saved the tuna for me. I added avocado to my turkey sandwich, again, tasty and filling. Their outside seating was appropriate, the umbrella covered me well from the sun. The employee I encountered was friendly, she brought my sandwich out to me while I was outside waiting for my Coffee Bean order. She even offered to fix the umbrella for me, not needed, but appreciated. Hours are limited and only open during the work week. I will be back when I get the chance!

I had been wanting to come in here for a while. I always see it when having Coffee Bean. Finally, had the opportunity to stop by. Their menu is pretty good with lots of variety and something for everyone. I went with the chicken barely soup with garlic bread and a simple green salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions. You have to try the cilantro lime dressing. It's really good & a good kick to it. Overall, I was really impressed. They do have daily specials. They don't have a restroom or indoor seating. This isn't a good location for large groups. I loved the ambiance, they were playing good Holiday music & the service was good too. Plenty of parking in the street or in the back parking lot. They cater parties to if you're interested. I'll definitely be back to try some other items on their menu.

Service was great and our food came out rather quickly. Came here with a friend and she got the chicken caesar wrap and I got the avocado turkey wrap. Both of them were home runs. They come cut in half so we shared each other's sandwich. They have outside seating which is nice. They have plenty of drinks ranging from water to soda and coffee. I will definitely be back and try there other sandwiches.

    Chipotle chicken Philly combo

Ambiance: This place is much smaller than I thought, no seating, and not many places to stand. Kinda gives small corner store deli vibes. Service: Very nice, patient, and helpful. I appreciated the suggestions and advice about my sandwich selection. Food: I went with the Chipotle chicken Philly combo, and I wasn't really impressed. When I heard chicken Philly, I didn't have this in mind, and the bread to filling ratio was off. It ended up just tasting like a regular chicken sandwich with peppers and onions. Overall, the sandwich was decent, just not what I expected.

I decided to try out Dave's Deli & Catering it's located a block away from the East L..A. courthouse and also the Metro Gold line in East L.A... I was very curious about Dave's Deli my wife and I went to have lunch at Juan's Rotisserie Pollo it's next door. They have the menu on the windows showing what of kind of hot and cold sandwich including salads and other items they make in the restaurant. They everything they made is fresh and made to order and also they high quality meats from Boar's Head one of my favorite Deli meats. I decided to order the turkey Sandwich with provolone cheese with everything including Persian cucumber. I got my sandwich then I took it home when I arrived I took a bite of my sandwich it took really good I really enjoy the turkey meat was really high quality turkey meat with good flavors and bread was soft and airy with other ingredients like the provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and Persian cucumber were very delicious by the way I order the large it's big. Next when go again to Dave's Deli I need to try a different sandwich.

I love this place! Enough that I have tried many different items at this location. Notable items Toasted turkey bacon avocado: delicious tasting. Just a simple and tasty sandwich Waldorf salad: honestly a jr. Size is good enough. Comes with fruit and makes it very refreshing Vanilla coffee: cheap and just sweet enough! Better price than coffee bean if you're into flavors like iced vanilla latte. Clam chowder: SO freaking AMAZING. The best I've had because they are NOT stingy with how much clams and items they put into the soup Tomato basil: also a very good choice! Sometimes comes with pita bread and sometimes comes with garlic bread. Just depends on their availability. Chicken avocado salad- good. Can't go wrong there. Turkey Jack panini- was told this was a favorite. I liked the chipotle mayo. Gives you a little spice. Not my faves: Chicken Cesar wrap: the wrap was a bit thick, I think maybe it was made if wheat or something? I don't like wheat so if you do, then maybe you'll like this one. But I prefer the one at coffee bean next door. Grilled cheese: this might just be my preference. I don't like whatever cheese they use. I think the flavor just doesn't go well as a grilled cheese type

We went around 11am and there wasn't a line yet, but by 11:30am it started to get busier and there was a small line. The staffing, service and efficiency were on point. Our server, Kevin, was nice and took good care of us. I ordered the lox, egg & onion scramble with a side of potatoes. It seems like most people come here for lunch and, obviously, for the meat. My meal was fairly bland. I did get a side of the house green salsa and that helped. It was definitely not up to the same level as the pastrami though. I personally wouldn't come back myself, but I would go if someone I was with really wanted to come. Overall, this seems like a great place. They have their own parking lot across the street, they have their operation down to a T, and they really nail the things people come there for. I appreciate that they have alternative options, but I would try something different next time. Maybe their other scrambles or their French toast would be better.

So it's quite the coup that I finally made it on over to the Heights DABS! A slice of that 18 inch pie is on the brain today as I skip up the mini-staircase into the joint. Having just come from another not-to-be-named Pizza spot in the DTLA to NELA corridor, my hangdog face belies my energetic hoppin-pep-in-the-step into Heights, shaking off a droopy and disappointingly dry slice amidst the brain-bleeding profanity laced hate-punk screaming over that joint's speakers as I sized up the Margherita I always use as an avatar to benchmark how we dooooin' in the pizza quality and taste department no matter where I go. I confess I've been captured and SPOILED by love affairs with Greek Pizza in Boston, Deep Dish in Chicago, NYC greezy gooey goodness at 3am, and of course the ultimate seduction of sublime simplicity of the Neapolitan Pizzas of Napoli. Yes, I am a sucker for the traditional brick oven Margheritas and Bufalinas of Italia, just that simple barometer of OG greatness, minimalistic bliss. Less than 5 bucks and 10 min later, I'm ambling down said teeny stairs with a large warm white cardboard box that seems far too large for a mere SLICE. Have they made a packaging error? I was expecting a small thin wilty Dixie plate! These days, we don't wanna waste cardboard, do we? Driving off, I contemplate a spot to pull over along the Arroyo Seco to enjoy my dining behind the wheel. I just can't hold in my wondering, patience is definitely NOT a virtue when curiosity is just killing this Jazz Cat. A quick stop at a red light later, I can't hold it in any longer. FLIP. UP. THAT. LID! Daaaaaaammmnnnn! That is one MONSTROUS slice, as I slyly smile in astonishment! But my sly smile slowly segues to sadness, then semi-panicked confusion, disorientation, even! For THIS is not the Margherita one familiarly recognizes as the artistic minimalistic masterpiece a proper Neapolitan Margherita MUST BE! I am starting to get anxious, angsty, and now a bit ANGRY! what a fool I was! Instead I am misled into chow down mode to consume a Godzilla-sized molten mess of mossy dry basil haphazardly strewn about to and fro across the pie, resembling katsuo bonito flakes dancing around in the disarray of their differential dehydration! Inexplicably, jagged rows of somewhat square Roma tomatoes are lined up in lazy formations like a disorganized military company. What's more, the gooey globs of mozzarella are NOT expertly anchored down to the bed of cheese below, supposed to cling to the pie while providing just enough protruding relief like an old globe map with a mountain range rising above the horizon. Nope, they are instead here and there and almost everywhere, seemingly untethered to the matrix of cheese below, chaotically floating around like slightly rectangular glops of pale possible goodness?!!? JT, hold it together, you must attack this mess while it's still hot. Beep Beep! THE LIGHT HAS TURNED GREEN MANY SECONDS AGO! Get thee to the Arroyo! Minutes later, I'm at my perch. I bite into the unruly beast. I am pleasantly greeted by a most satisfying CRUNCH! Then a chewy tug-tremendous! Then the mass of basil flakiness flying through my mouth and down the hatch, chased by those deeeelish misshapen untethered white cubes o' cheesiness charging down my throat aside tons of tumbling tomatoes! It's an absolute avalanche of WOW! It's like there's a party in my mouth, and the most unlikely heroes showed up and showed out! Let's add the Unconventional Neapolitanical Pizzas of Lincoln Heights to the Lovefest List! Heights DABS, you've made my day. On to meet up with long lost friends converging in HP from nearby points dearly loved, I'm feelin' GRRRREEEEAT! DONE.

Nothing succeeds like excess. In fact, most people will need a take out box for one less meal to cook. Delicatessen means delicate eating in German, but at a Jewish American Delicatessen, the emphasis is on the Eating, which I am not complaining. 1) I requested an off menu item of having a Reuben sandwich where half is Corned Beef and the other Pastrami. Brent's Reuben has warm Sauerkraut, grilled Rye bread, melted Swiss Cheese, 1,000 Island dressing. Thinly sliced, multi-layered Mound of Pastrami is a bit on the dry side. Curing doesn't create a deep meaty Umami and spicing is present but attenuated. The Corned Beef is moister with bit more Umami & plush, thin multi-layered red colored meat. I have to say the Pastrami at Langer's is cured more intensely to bring out a deep Umami as well as more complex and complementary spicing of especially warm spiced cloves that adds aromatic richness. Brent's Pastrami doesn't seem to reach that kind of apotheosis. 1b) I asked for the steak fries to be fried two minutes longer for a crisper finish which was honored. Not much in way of that distinctive potato earthiness, but acceptable. 1c) Coleslaw is mayonnaise based, watery, bland, but a good cruciferous, fibrous veggie to add more fibre, healthful phytochemicals to counter the meat overload even though it isn't flavourful 2) Carrot Cake is closer to a delicate, dense, moist spice cake. A slice is enormous since it is cut from an extra tall cake studded with crushed walnuts and a cream cheese like not too sweet frosting. At $14 it could feed 4 people. Service is fine. They take your order and run with it. Bit of tunnel vision where it may be a bit hard to flag them down. But the job does get done. Overall 3+ stars
