I'm originally from MI and we have a Dave's there and I've never been - it's a hang out spot so it's always super crowded. I haven't been to the physical location here yet either. After I moved to Columbus and they opened a Dave's so I was ecstatic! Just wanted to try it and now it's kind of become a regular thing. I thought the chicken would have too much sauce on the chicken but they always just put some on the side. You can choose your spice level. The chicken has the perfect crunch. Also I'm impressed with the portion of the chicken and all the sides as well. You can fries, pickles, another tender. If you haven't tried it, give it a go. read more

Yummm, am I glad I decided to try something new instead of ordering one of my usuals for lunch today! I ordered the two slider combo with fries, a single slider, Mac & cheese, and a large vanilla shake. There was a little bit of a mix up with one of the sliders, I ordered one extra hot, one medium, and one reaper. It seems my reaper slider got switched with someone's reaper tender, but I'm glad I still got the spice level I was looking for. Everything was delicious! The tenders were fried to perfection and the buns were still nice and warm when it arrived, the fries were still crunchy, the Mac and cheese was decent, and the vanilla shake was heaven. Normally I'm disappointed with the spice level on things but that reaper tender did not disappoint. I don't recommend trying it if you aren't a fan of the heat but if you're like me and you like the spice this one's for you ! read more

We ordered a tray of tenders and an order of fries through DoorDash. This was a very expensive order. The tray cost almost $50 alone. Granted, DD marks up the orders. Anyway, the tenders we ordered 1/2 medium and 1/2 hot. My young son can eat the medium, but not the hot. The tray arrived with all the tenders mixed together, such that we couldn't tell which was which, and we're pretty sure it was mostly hot. He tried to eat several of the tenders only to have his mouth burned. It would not be difficult to separate and label the trays, especially since the menu allows for ordering the trays 1/2 and 1/2. Come on, Dave's, do better. When a customer spends almost $70 on chicken and fries, we expect to be able to enjoy the food. read more

There's a lot to unpack here. I wanted nothing more than to love this place but I just can't get past some things. 1-PRICE. Over $60 for two adults and a child for fast food is on the high side. Now if it were out of this world I'm okay with it but expectations go up. 2-STAFF. The staff seemed very uninterested to be working there. 3-The CHICKEN. It was fantastic. Fantastic tenders and good size, however the coating of dust (seasoning) is overwhelming. The reaper seasoning also just isn't very hot. GREAT QUALITY CHICKEN THOUGH! The slaw was great as were the pickles 4-The sauce...this is the problem. The sauce isn't very good. Tastes like thousand island without relish. They put pickles not on the sandwich but right by on top and infecting the sandwich and fries with the pickle juice. Also got a chicken tender, an extra fry, and a side of mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was good, I'll give them that. The fries that weren't infected with pickle juice were decent. Maybe 5/10. The chicken still gets a 2/10. Maybe it's the type of chicken that with the spices it needs to have the pickles and dave sauce or it's no good. The stuff was very priced. Don't mention "costs have gone up everywhere" while they have not like this. It was $3.49 for what appeared to be the smallest fry ever. This new place has some really great food. the parking is very limited, however you can park behind the restaurant and walk over. It's different from other HC places I have visited. Their heat comes from a dusting rather than sauce, but it does pack the heat! It is a bit pricey but the food was very fresh it made it worth the wait. The menu is small but packs the punch in flavor. I can't wait to try this place again, service was great and everyone was super friendly. I saw that Dave's Hot Chicken had landed a home in Columbus! The food was awesome, but most of all their staff was great. I went after work and the line was almost out the door. I ordered the slider meal on mild and medium flavors. The sandwiches were amazing ! The fries and the sauce were flavorful as well! I waited about 10 minutes for my food. Which wasn't bad considering the amount of people they had in the building and drive through ! I would recommend everyone trying Dave's. Got a couple sliders, fries, and a chocolate shake. The shake was ok, mostly a generic chocolate shake like you'd get from McDonald's. Fries were good and crispy, but if you are a spice fan, I will warn you that there is night and day difference between their very hot and their reaper spice levels. I might say their reaper sauce is genuinely made with reaper chilis and that it is the hottest sauce I've had across Columbus, or ever. I made it a couple bites before I began feeling the sides of the back of my tongue pulsing. My suggestion is if you like it hot, the very hot sauce is very good and can scratch that "holy" itch from HCT, but still be below Buffalo Wild Wing's "blazin". Staff super friendly and helpful with the menu. They failed to warn me about the reaper though . Food was quick through the nighttime drive thru. I'd happily go back for the chicken. read more

This was our first time trying Dave's Hot Chicken. The hubs and I ordered the same thing; the #3 combo, medium heat. The sliders were SO good! The brightness of the kale slaw, the pickles, and Dave's sauce were a winning flavor combination with the chicken tender and bun. The sliders are almost the size of a normal chicken sandwich, so I would've been fine with one slider with fries. I didn't eat much of the lone chicken tender because without all of the slider ingredients, it was just way too salty for me. I was full anyways, so it wasn't a big deal. Their chicken tenders are enormous; more like a small chicken breast! I was not expecting that. Definitely more food than it sounds like. The crinkle fries were hot, super crispy, and well seasoned. So a big thumbs up for the sliders and fries! It's not exactly health food, so we won't eat here often, but that being said, we will go back. This was my favorite hot chicken spot in the area, until today. My wife placed a pickup order & I was in the area so I stopped by to grab it. They told me I couldn't take it without a confirmation. They didn't care that my name was literally on it. So I had to scramble to get a hold of my wife who was working, the whole time the employee was just staring me down as I call/texted, making it more awkward. Everyone in the place was staring at me. Service was a little awkward since I walked in knowing what I wanted but an employee made an assumption I didn't and continued to clean, while his coworker tended to the line prep, but mentioned he would be with me shortly whe he saw me waiting. I wasn't expecting sweetness so my first bite was a little disappointing since I was in the mood for savory...but as I continued eating, it grew on me and I enjoyed my meal. The fries were flavored nicely so I really liked those. I appreciated that they included an extra side of Dave's sauce, but I personally was not a big fan...only because I don't like Mayo-based sauces to begin with so it's nothing against the sauce. It's a me problem. The only thing that could've been improved in my takeout order were some utensils and napkins. I don't remember seeing where these were so I might've missed the utensil station, but think it would be nice for customers to have this automatically included in their order or informed they need to find their own if ordering inside the restaurant rather than the drive through. Would come back if I were in the area and craving chicken. Pro tip: go one step higher on the spice level than what you would normally get. Yes, during busy times of the day, you will see cars wrapped around the corner waiting for a drive-through. And the parking lot will be full more often than not during these same times. But, somehow they deliver and deliver quickly with my wait being only a few moments. The food has been consistently excellent. I heated everything back up since we drove across town for it and the chicken itself was good. Not juicy really but a decent size. Tipping toward $5 for an extra one decent size? No. That's insane but I digress. I will assume I ate the extra hot first and while it had a slight kick to it, anyone around here whose been eating hot chicken for almost 10 years (you know who I mean) knows if you get hot or hotter, you'd better have a good lip tingle going. I liked the crispy crinkle cut fries and Dave's sauce. Unfortunately there was an issue with our order. We were the only people in the dining room but we sat waiting for 20 min for our food while the staff prepared dozens of takeout and drive thru orders. After I finally went up to ask, one staff told us that the printer was jammed and didn't print our ticket, we also heard her tell someone else the same exact thing earlier in the night so I'm not sure if it was true or just her go to excuse. Chicken was perfectly crispy and I thought the heat level was perfect. I loved how they provided honey packets you could add to the sandwich, I would 100% recommend adding honey. I went to Dave's Hot Chicken a couple days ago for the second time and it was simply amazing. There is a parking lot and a drive thru which is really convenient. You have to order at the register and then sit for your food if you go inside. I ended up ordering the extra hot slider with fries. Everything was delicious. The sauce that came with the fries was also good. I put honey on my sandwich to balance out the flavors which was a great call. The extra hot wasn't too spicy, I think the spiciness is balanced.
