Visited Dave's Hot Chicken while in Gilbert for lunch after driving by it countless times since they opened -- a friend (Teresa) finally gave me the push to stop in. The atmosphere was very casual and laid-back, with a lively buzz, varied seating, and both indoor and outdoor options. The service was friendly and efficient, especially considering how busy the place was. Tried the hot chicken -- a nice, solid piece with good crunch and flavor; timing may not have been ideal after just having Hattie B's in Nashville, but it still held its own. Next time I'll definitely go a level hotter. The crinkle-cut fries were a standout -- crispy and done right. Overall, a great spot for locals and worth a return visit. Saluti

With so many options for chicken out there is do I prefer it to the competition? The easy answer is yes. It's a quality piece of chicken breast breaded and fried with a good level of spices and seasoning. It's crispy and juicy with a good salt level and give you the kick of spice you choose. The bun is good as are the crinkle cut fries. The service is friendly and knowledgeable and the kids seem happy to be working there. As for the dining room. It's pretty basic but clean and very casual and comfortable enough like a school cafeteria. You're not going here for a 3 star plus experience. Most people are using the drive thru or taking their meal to go. They are opening much closer to where I live so I will most likely make this a regular stop when looking for a good chicken sandwich.

Wanted some fried chicken and my friend told me about this place. I was little disappointed to see that it did not have regular fried chicken, just chicken strips or tender what ever you want to call it. Chicken strips is my least favorite part/style of fried chicken. But I said meh. I'm already here so I'll give it a try. The girl taking my order was very helpful and suggested I order #3, which came with one strip, one slider, and fries. Ordered extra hot since I didn't feel like being in pain later and ordering the hottest. Well I was pleasantly surprised to find out that chicken was yummy. I have to say probably my favorite chicken strip place I have been to. The breading is not too much like one across the street. Had nice crisp and flavor. Extra hot did sneak up me. It wasn't crazy hot but enough to let me know it was hot. Fries were also nice and crispy. Slider was nice and simple, with dash of coleslaw and pickle. Over all this place was pretty darn good. The portion you get for the price I thought it was fair. I would definitely come back here again.

I've been to Daves a couple times now and I'd say the food is decent. I feel like the chicken itself doesn't really have any flavor to it, instead it's just a lot of cumin, cajun, and other seasonings. The portion of the chicken is sometimes good, somedays you'll get small portions of chicken. I feel like the prices are a little too much considering the food itself doesn't come with a drink. It's like $15+ if you want a 'meal' with a drink. Also it comes with a little container of their sauce that's like half full and if you want more they charge you for it. So if you want chicken tenders and fries I'd definitely say there are better options than this. Other than that I will say the restaurant is very clean, considering they are always so busy. The workers are always on top of everything and they make sure the tables are wiped down for other customers. The workers were also very friendly and give fast service.

Cauli Dave's #2 2 Cauli Sliders w/ Fries

As a vegetarian, the Cauli Slider was the best thing I've eaten in a minute. I was at a Yelp event a few months ago and, as always, I asked everyone what the best thing they've eaten recently is and someone said, the Cauli slider at Dave's. It took me too long to follow up, but I'm so glad I did! I trucked my husband over to Gilbert today to try Dave's Hot Chicken. I ordered a Cauli slider, cheese fries, and drink. Armando was great and bundled it as a meal to save me money and also offered advice on spice level. My meal was around $17. While we waited on our order, we got to look at the fun graffiti-style art and enjoy the skater/beach vibe. My slider had slaw, sauce, and cheese and was perfect crispy goodness. Medium was warm but not hot--I'd probably bump up to hot next time (I order my Thai food medium as a point of reference). One slider seemed like a lot of food to me--more like a full-sized sandwich. The crinkle cut fries were crispy and well seasoned. All and all, an excellent comfort food experience. Shout out to the manager who checked in. I would have raved about how good everything was but my mouth was very full. Which is probably the same thing. Will be back. Probably often.

I had been wanting to try Dave's for months and finally got the chance. Right when I walked in, I noticed how clean the place was and how friendly the staff were -- always a big plus. I ordered Dave's #3, which comes with one tender, one slider, and fries for $13.29. At first, I thought the price was a little high considering it doesn't include a drink, but the pieces of chicken were big and the portion of fries was generous. The chicken was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and delicious. The "extra spicy" definitely lived up to its name -- it was very spicy -- but I love heat, and the Dave's sauce helped balance it out nicely.

Absolutely amazing customer service! Our cashier was Mando and he was very kind! This was my first time trying Dave's Hot Chicken and Mando was helpful in explaining to me the menu and recommending what I should try. I ended up ordering the not-chicken slider which was delicious! Great spot for drive through or carry out. There are tables inside but no table service. Cool looking building inside and out with the graffiti and decorations. Their meals come with "sliders" but don't let the name fool you. They are big. I like spicy foods but I also like to taste good flavor. I got medium hot - it was the right spice level.

My friend keeps raving about Dave's Hot Chicken, specifically the sliders. I've never been so tonight we went so I could give them a taste. I'd say it was a solid 3.75 stars but I rounded up :) The store was clean and the staff were pleasant. No complaints there at all! I got the #3 Dave's Chicken Slider and Tender (Hot) with fries. The Sliders and Tender were very crispy, which I enjoyed. I'd definitely say the sliders are better than the tenders though, no contest. The "Hot" was kinda mild for me...I think if I go back I'll select the next heat level up (I like it spicy!). The chicken was good though & moist. Fries were crunchy with some sweetness to them. Overall the food was good...didn't blow my socks off but still, I liked what I ate. I left full and satisfied :) On a scale of 1 - 10......I'm sure my friend will talk me into coming back again and I'll be good with that. I'll go double sliders and kick up the spicy next time though.

Fast friendly service. Came my lunch break had 20min.. they were pretty busy drive thru took 10-15 mins. Fries were really good perfect crisp with seasoning. Ckn choose ur spice, I did mild-not spicy, both good but ckn coulda been better,assuming how it was cooked not the recipe itself, the seasoning was on point. Everything looked well together and clean exterior was well kept. Chill clean vibes.

Not impressed by the food. Menu was very limited from what I saw and the food seemed very heavy handed with the spices and salty. Don't really know what the hype was about when the new location opened in Mesa which everytime I attempted to go was packed and the parking was ridiculous. Took over a month to finally try them out for the first time and was not impressed. Sorry, my opinion. If your into that type food then by all means, have at it. read more

1st time. Awesome! I think you just put Canes on notice. Quit possibly the best chicken sandwich I've had. The crispy crust and the juicyness of the breast were on point. Then you add cheese to it. If you love real chicken breast chicken sandwiches and insanely good fries, you're at the right place. You can choose your level of spice on your chicken from no spice to Reaper. I go right down the middle at mild and it's somewhere in-between a Chick-fil-A regular and spicy. But Dave's is sooo much better-the bun is like homemade; pillowy and fresh, with coleslaw and fresh pickles. The star is the chicken though. Its real chicken breast and not too breaded, but crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside-it's killer!! The fries are seasoned and I'm guessing double fried since they are crispy and crazy good. Fry sauce is almost as good as Cane's-still delicious though. Eat here once and you'll drive right past Chick-fil-A and Cane's forever more. read more

I'm obsessed with their chicken. It's not just the spices - which are delicious - but it's the juicy, plump chicken as well!! They have the best chicken at any fast food I've ever had. Their fries are good too. Crinkle cut. It's all a tad salty for me but then you can ask for light salt. 10/10 recommend!! Food was insanely good and beats other chicken places by far! Disclaimer: the "hot" IS. HOT. for all of you spice lovers and so dang delicious! The flavor is unmatched and makes its mark! The service was surprisingly fast (maybe 5-6 mins waiting for it) considering the lines out the door and the drive thru line through the parking lot, upbeat and organized. This place is CLEAN, including the bathrooms! The staff was fun, answered any/all questions while seeming genuinely happy to be there, and the ambiance was like you're hanging out at backyard bbq! You could see that the other patrons were clearly enjoying their food when we walked in.. which was so cool! Brought my family here the first time I came to this place. Really wanted to try their food, based on reviews and pictures. When we got there, there was a decent line in the drive thru so that was pretty promising. Friendly staff Tasty food Clean restaurant We got the chicken tenders, sandwiches and fries; a pretty good portion size. Chicken was seasoned really well and he chicken was very juicy. Got the medium and the hot. Pretty tolerable, will definitely dial it up for next time. Hopefully we're back soon read more

I have such mixed fillings about Dave's. Being from San Diego I had been to one in Pacific beach and it was good, we got excited to see one close to our new home. The service was quick and good. I go everywhere to try new stuff. I was really interested in seeing what the line was all about. After I looked at the prices it really piqued my interest. Chicken fingers, half the portions of Canes at almost twice the price. Not the same portions at half the price. HALF the portions at twice the price! My theory has always been the best thing you can say about a restaurant is. "It's expensive but worth it!" Dave's is simply expensive. No big deal. Nothing special. I'm going back to Canes. Dave's Hot Chicken was created by best friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. Dave, a chef trained in Thomas Keller's (French Laundry) organization set out to create the perfect Hot Chicken by searching, tasting, and frying. The four friends scrounged up $900 to put a tiny stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. The menu was simple, and chicken was the star. And what chicken it is! Sourced and prepared to be the juiciest and most tender imaginable with each piece topped with Dave's own mix of spices ranging from "Mild" to "The Reaper". Arman created Instagram buzz and the lines began to grow. Two nights later, Eater/LA showed up to see what the fuss was about. The next morning's headline read "East Hollywood's Late Night Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind". Almost instantly, the lines stretched around the block. A year later, the boys had the money to open a shop in a hip strip-mall with de_cor by local street artists, where the crowds continued to grow with wait-times of an hour and more. From there, the incredibly craveable "Hot and Spicy" varieties have created a cult following with rave reviews across the U.S. and Canada.

History

Established in 2017.

In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept -- take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw -- they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long. After 6 months of running the pop-up with long lines, the team took the plunge and opened their first physical store in January 2018 in a sleepy strip center in East Hollywood. Demand for their crave-able hot chicken exceeded all expectations and sales have grown every month since opening with consistently long lines throughout the day.

It's $9.99, so basically $10 for about an ounce and a half of beef on a pretty basic store bought pita. Does it taste good? Yes it does, but for ten dollars, I'd definitely expect at least two more slices of meat. It just is not worth what is charged. I did not get the full meal with fries but it is $5 more to add fries to your order and I just can't imagine that it would be worth it. I did see another customer with fries and at best, I'd expect to pay maybe $3 more for what they were served. I don't expect to return. It's too bad because everything does taste good. It just isn't worth the price. Also, I ordered baklava with my to go order. There was only one table there eating and they'd already been served so they were not busy. They forgot the baklava and I had to go back in for it. $2.50 for a 2x2 inch square.

I noticed that the main menu had a line at the bottom that stated a gluten-free menu would be available upon request. I did ask to see this menu as gluten-free is my dietary preference, not an allergyand I was brought a complementary gluten-free bun instead of the pretzel bread. I thanked our server and told him not to worry that it was just a preference and he told me that he treats all gluten friendly requests as an allergy. I really appreciated the care and concern he had for my health and well-being. This is unprecedented at most restaurants. They had a very extensive gluten-free menu and I can't wait to go back and try so many more items. We did try the Leonard burger and made quite a few modification requests - all of which were 100% accommodated. This burger was so incredibly juicy! I have only ever been to this restaurant through the drive thru since i live far away, so i'm unfamiliar with the inside of the store, but service through the drive thru is very quick and the people working are very nice. Overall, i'd recommend going here if you like spicy chicken. read more

Dave's hot chicken is a very popular place that recently just opened in chandler. The service was 10/10 the employees were super helpful and recommended me Dave's #3 with spice level Medium. This is my go to order moving forward because it gives me a variety of everything. If you enjoy a lil kick I suggest getting medium level heat. Highly recommend! read more

Best chicken I've ever had!! The sliders are amazing! And the fries are super yummy hot and crunchy! The lady at the counter who took my order was very polite and helpful with the menu and the spice selection( if your a wimp like me no spice or light mild is the way to go!) Amazing food & super good service! Big fan of their fries, and the food in general has super good flavor to it. Their pickles are bomb and they include lots of pickles with each order. Bonus points: they don't charge for extra Dave's sauce. Will be frequenting this place from now on read more

First time coming to Dave's and it was so yummy! Drove 25 mins and it was worth it. I got the Hot level it was spicy but still enjoyable. I'm going to try the extra hot next time. Customer service was great and very helpful. Will be back soon!! read more
