Finally tried this hot chicken place. Safely chose a Medium spice level slider, which actually is the size of a burger. Next time I'll go one level higher. First taste was initially sweet with a spicier after taste. The chicken is large and crispy. Love the cabbage slaw and dill pickles in the slider and plentifully on the side. The sauce tastes like In N Out special sauce or like Thousand Island salad dressing. Fries are great crinkle cut ones and mildly seasoned. Service was sufficient. Inside is clean, quiet with graffiti skater vibes. It's not cheap but I guess comparable to most fast food places The slider and fries a la carte cost $11. The meal was filling. I go daves hot chicken a lot in general and maybe out of every 50-60 chicken, one end up being either undercooked or not up to the quality that we expect from daves. They need beer to go with this chicken. The mini sliders were kind of hard to eat and seems like it would be better to just get a regular slider. The buns are delicious, love the pickle and the sauce on it. Fries are really good too. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable and loud when you scoot them on the floor. Just received Nordstrom quality customer service from Hannah at Dave's in Seal Beach. It seems like customer service is a lost art at most places but alive and well at Dave's thanks to Hannah. The next time I go to Dave's in Seal Beach I really hope to see Hannah wearing a managers badge or better yet hear that she was hired by Dave's corporate offices as a director of customer service training. PLEASE CLEAN AND WIPE YOUR TABLES. It's gross having eat on dirty tables and seeing trash all over the floor. Even the trash cans were filled to the brim and clearly needed to be changed. The tables were sticky and had a ton of crumbs. Keep in mind I came in during non busy hours and no one really came in for the next hour while I was there. The workers easily could have cleaned up the mess during these non busy times. Luckily the food was decent! I ordered these items below and will rate them 1-10 (5 being average). - daves not chicken combo with fries: the fries had a good crisp although they did need more seasoning! For the sandwich is was decent but again in needs more seasoning as i always felt the need to add packets of their dave's sauce. (6.5/10) - daves combo with one tender and one slider: the chicken here is better than their cauliflower counterpart but just like before they needed to add more seasoning! (7/10) - mac n cheese: the mac n cheese wasn't anything spectacular and tasted like any other mac n cheese i would usually get at other spots. I personally think it needed some salt and more cheese. (6/10) Overall this place could use some work to those who own this location or managing the place because dave's use to be GREAT back in the day before they become so franchised. Right now there are hot chicken places popping up all over and Dave's seems to be leading the way in establishing storefronts. I visited this location for lunch. It's located in a large plaza so there is plenty of parking. I ordered their #4 - a single chicken slider (I added cheese) which comes with fries. You can choose your level of spiciness and I went with "mild". I also added a chocolate milkshake. You might assume a "slider" is small but what you get at Dave's is a full-size chicken sandwich. The chicken was tender & juicy, the fresh bun perfectly sized, the pickles absolutely delicious, and their sauce is outstanding. Definitely my favorite out of all the Nashville hot chicken sandwiches I've tried. The krinkle fries had great seasoning and were crisp outside and soft & hot inside just as a perfect fry should be. The chocolate shake (made from real ice cream) was very good. It was thick but still suckable through a straw. What made this a strong five stars was the service. At the date of this review the country still has a labor shortage especially in the food industry. When I arrived at this fast casual restaurant there was only one person working. My receipt says her name is Karla. She was working the register and also preparing the food back in the kitchen. When I walked in I was the only customer but over the next ten minutes six or seven people trickled in. I sat and watched as she kept calm and was able to take orders and make the food, dashing back and forth, always with a smile on her face and being polite to each person who came through the door. You might have to wait a few minutes but it's worth it. They offer different levels of heat from no spice to reaper. Reaper is legit hot. Employees are friendly. Kiele was very nice and followed up asking if there was anything we needed once our order was received. Ambience is OK.
