I think this location has recently been taken over by a franchise. They have one person cooking and the other person bagging and making other stuff. The service has officially gone down the toilet at this location. A few months ago I ordered a family pack from the app expecting it to come with the picnic box but it was in paper bags when I came to pick it up. When I got home I realized I was missing 2 dressing and 1 of my side items. I ended up contacting corporate and they sent me 3 char tickets for free cheeseburgers. Today, I went to try to redeem the tickets at the same location and no one is at the counter taking orders. I went to a kiosk, there's a note on it that says you would have to order from a staff if you're using gift cards or coupons. I tried it at the kiosk anyway and it wouldn't take the Char tickets. So I asked one of the staff members and he said he couldn't help me. This was the same guy who messed up my order when I got the family pack. O Habit how I miss thee since I moved! Got my fix in with a Santa Barbara double without cheese and mustard instead of mayo, onion rings, and a dragonfruit lemonade. The burger was juicy and flavorful like I remember, crispy/perfectly toasted sourdough bread, avocado, greens, chopped fried onions, and I added a ton of jalapeños from the complimentary condiment bar. The Habit onion rings are de best! I have yet to find another place to top them. The dragon fruit lemonade was very sweet- I did have to water it down. I truly enjoyed my indulgence here. This review is for the service. I've never had any problem with the food, I think the cooks do a good job. This is for the guy behind the counter who ignored me for the second time. I was at this location today (2/7/26) a little after 1:00 pm, greeted by one of the cooks. Nice. I stood at the counter, and there was a guy who clearly should've greeted me and took my order except he didn't. I waited for a couple of minutes and still no response. Hm. clearly he's ignoring me. Not sure what his problem was but I guess that was his way of exercising "power" in a position like his. So I started to use the self-service but then decided I did not wan to give them my business. Canceled my order and went over to Blaze Pizza next door, where, btw had the friendliest workers. While annoyed with the Habit Burger's service, I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't angry. Lol. Then I realized it's because I'm not stuck behind a burger joint counter on a beautiful Saturday and providing crappy service. Charge for ranch?! I don't think so. I went to college at UC Santa Barbara and I have been a loyal customer for a very long time. The food is good quality, but the prices have been creeping up steadily over the last few years. Three months ago they put the final nail in their coffin by charging for each and every side ranch dressing, regardless of how much you order. So you can pay $60 for a family of four to eat, and they won't give you even one free side of ranch. This is egregious. I understand if you want to limit it to two per customer or something and then charge after that, but just charging for every ounce of ranch is downright greedy and disappointing. I will refrain from eating there until they change this ridiculous policy. Until then, I will go to Chili's -- who charges the same amount for their food and I can have all the free ranch I want. I used the mobile app to order and drove to the restaurant that was 6 min away as I drove into the driveway I see an alert my order is ready for pick up. I get there and it's waiting on the shelf. By the time I got back home in 6 min the food felt warm. I bit into my burger and the lettuce was all wilted. Cooked lettuce gave it the hint of rotting vegetables. Very disappointed as this was my 2nd time coming. First was great with the half sandwich and fried green beans. This time I ordered the cheeseburger and fries meal for 4. Fast food has definitely gotten expensive in general, and likely has a correlation with minimum wage, but it seems to just be the nature of how things are. There are several burger choices in this area but The Habit can hold its own against all of them. I stopped here for lunch and ordered a char burger with cheese but minus onions. I also decided on an order of fries and a chocolate milkshake. You have the option of ordering at the counter or at one of the kiosks near the entrance. The two employees working were really hustling yet being pleasant and courteous to every customer who walked through the door. I was given a pager and had a seat inside at one of the booths. They also have a fairly large patio. In about 7 minutes my pager buzzed and I picked up my order at the counter. The char burger was excellent with that mouth-watering char taste. You can imagine it, can't you? The tomato, pickles, lettuce, cheese, and sauce added to my complete enjoyment of this burger. The fries would have been really good if not served at room temperature (which quickly transitioned to just plain cold). Do they not at least have a heat lamp or something to keep them warm? This failure cost them a star. I do appreciate how their fries aren't oily. The milkshake was fantastic, rich and chocolatey with the perfect consistency to immediately start sucking it up through the straw. If you live or work in the area this definitely should be on your burger rotation and if you just happen to be in the vicinity of Seal Beach or Los Alamitos you should definitely consider The Habit for a burger and shake. read more

The younger male with curly he was very nice showing me where my number was, then Rowan yelled my number, I said here I am. I needed to pick something up nearby early evening on Sunday, and I suddenly remembered that there was a Habit Burger that just recently opened in Seal Beach. Even better, it was National French Fry Day this past Wednesday, and Habit Burger was doing a promo where if you spend at least $6, you can get free fries*. The Seal Beach Habit Burger is located in Old Town Ranch Center on the east side of Seal Beach Blvd. It shares the same building as Blaze Pizza and Dave's Hot Chicken, all of which I believe opened around the same time. At Habit Burger, there is a large outdoor patio with plenty of tables to enjoy your food; in fact, I'd say that outdoor dining is more abundant than indoor dining here. When I arrived at about 7 PM, Yvonne greeted me, but needed a minute to help finish other customers' orders. I also needed a minute to look at the menu above the order counter to decide how to spend $6. I could have gone for a Charburger with an add-on, but at the bottom of the menu, I noticed something I didn't recall seeing at any other Habit Burger before: the Impossible Burger! I've had an impossible burger at Red Robin, where they charge a few dollars more for an impossible patty, but at Habit Burger, it's even cheaper than the Santa Barbara Char! Easy choice, Impossible Burger it is! With an Impossible Burger, you get a choice of grilled onions, raw onions, or no onions. I went with grilled. Yvonne then asked if I'd like all the toppings, but in the process, she also tried to upsell me on add-ons like cheese and avocado. Since I had already met the $6 minimum, I wasn't intending to get any add-ons, but I did want all the other toppings that traditionally come on the Impossible Burger. As I was trying to redeem the free fries offer on the Habit Burger app, my phone didn't want to show the offer barcode that usually pops up when trying to redeem an offer in store. I was getting so flustered I almost lost my cool! After a minute, I turned around and saw a couple of customers waiting behind me, so I decided to let them order first. While restarting the app, I noticed my phone had suddenly connected to the WiFi from Dave's Hot Chicken, and I think that was why my phone was acting up. Literally a few seconds after the next customers stepped up to place their order, I finally got the offer barcode to work, and I stepped back in line. Just awful timing all around, but when it was my turn to order again, Yvonne remembered exactly what I was intending to order! Impressive! She had a difficult time scanning the barcode. Either it was because I held my phone at the wrong angle or the brightness wasn't high enough, but I was finally able to make it work. Yeah I reeeeaaaallly wanted those free fries lol. Yvonne then gave me a pager and my receipt after completing the transaction. It took about 15 minutes before my order was ready. Kind of long, but not obnoxiously long. While waiting, I was looking for the jalapenos and condiments that I usually see at other Habit Burgers. Turns out they're on the opposite side next to the side door that leads to the outdoor patio. Easy to miss if you're not paying attention and if you're accustomed to seeing them adjacent to the pickup counter. I got a small cup of jalapenos, and there were even smaller cups next to the ketchup dispenser. Instead of using a smaller cup, I grabbed another small cup and filled it with ketchup so I could fully enjoy my fries :). I saw a different staff member put my food on a tray at the pickup counter, and then shortly after, my pager buzzed. She turned around to do something as I sauntered up to pick up my order. The tray was there for the taking, but I had to wait a few more seconds before I could hand her the pager. Bad timing here as well... In spite of the bad timing, I nevertheless enjoyed the Impossible Burger and the fries, though they certainly weren't the best burger and fries I've ever had. You're more likely to get a better meal at the In-N-Out literally on the other side of Seal Beach Blvd, but Habit Burger will certainly do the trick if the line over there is way too long. The impossible patty dried up a little too quick for me to fully enjoy, so if I had taken it to go, I certainly wouldn't have enjoyed it very much. The fries were pipin' hot and crispy, marrying nicely with the cup of ketchup I had gotten earlier, but they could have used more salt. At the time of my visit, Yvonne was training Landon, so I have to give a ton of credit to Yvonne for doing all the hard work. It was probably Landon's first or second day on the job since it looked like he was still in the learning stages. Hopefully as the days go on, he'll be more competent working the front of the house. Overall, it was a good solid meal that left my taste buds satisfied. If you download the Habit's app, you get a free Charburger with purchase of a free drink. That's exactly what I did! #ballinonabudget I've had their plain fries before which are good. They usually are seasoned. Today I had their onion rings - excellent! Very crisp, well seasoned and tastes great with optional ranch dressing although my friend thought they were salty. Charburger with cheese - Disappointing but I'm told today was an off day. Her charburger meat did not taste fresh. Next time I will omit the grilled onions and mayo. The Mayo made the burger too heavy. Not sure which made the bottom bun soggy. My Patty did not taste grilled though there is definitely more meat than in a In N Out burger but my friend's tasted charred. Service - Great especially from Brandon. Customer service also offered to remake the weird-tasting burger but honored the request to remake it at another time. You can also get a salad or sandwich. There are a few options for chicken, tuna and meatless eaters. I would try the Habit again even though I only wanted In-N-Out as I ate my charburger. The outside eating area is nice and comfortable. But I might eat there because all the food cooled down too much after less than 10 minutes. read more

Stopped by here and picked up 2 burgers 2 fries and 2 drinks. I asked for no mayo and they still added it on. I know they are new. Hopefully they can follow the customer's request next time because I do not like mayo on my burgers. Overall the food was good. Will come back and give it another try. The Caesar salad here used to be my favorite thing on the menu. Best Caesar salad i ever had. I hadn't had it in a couple of months. I went in today, and man, something changed. The lettuce wasn't cut into small pieces like it used to (there was actually huge chunks of the end of the lettuce head), they didn't mix the dressing in it came on the side and was much less, and it overall is just not nearly as good as it used to be. A big fan here, but yes congrats on another location. This one located across from Sprouts in Seal Beach. They built these this building and Blaze next door from the ground up. Lots of outdoor seating, as well as indoor seating. The bathroom has a keypad and it's ginormous inside with the gender neutral bathroom. Menu wise, it's the same as any other Habit. They do have this addictive mango lemonade that tastes way better than the strawberry one. There's 2 different ice teas and of course the fountain drinks. The condiment bar has lime wedges, pickled jalapenos, and chiles. There's also hot sauce and malt vinegar shall you need those. The staff is super friendly, met Brandon and was able to get some ranch for the fries just by asking. Also he gave me the code to the bathroom. Let's just say it's kind of difficult to remember, unlike most places but that's a good thing. I usually get their Santa Barbara Char on sourdough. Terrific burger and fries are done crispy with just a sprinkle of salt. I work close by so I will be coming here quite often. I went to the soft opening and will be open to the public April 6th. Got a kids cheeseburger, no cheese...my sandwich didn't have the cheese or onions I asked for, but had the sauce I didn't ask for. Also saw him pick up my sandwich with his bare hands to place into the to-go box because it was sent out as a dine in by the cook. Disgusted, I grabbed it and walked out and basically remake my sandwich at home with my own bread.
