Dave's Hot Chicken certainly lived up to the hype and I highly recommend! Starting to see these pop up more and more and I can see why. Overall Dave's is in a class of their own when it comes to chicken sandwiches/tenders. Where they thrive is food quality, chicken juicy-ness (sounds gross but take a bite and you'll get me), and price. My girlfriend and I shared a #2 with a side of mac and cheese and it was more than enough food. The chicken sandwiches were the highlight. Definitely the freshest hot chicken sandwich I've had. The ingredients seem very fresh which overall makes the sandwich less guilty and borderline gourmet! There was hardly any grease for being a fried sandwich. Fries and mac were okay. And Dave's special sauce was basically just slightly tangy mayo--didn't taste like much. Still beats all the fast food hot chicken sandwiches by a long shot! read more

I go here all the time and I will not be coming back because of the service. The young girl who works around 11 during the week shouldn't be working in costumer service period. She's rolled her eyes at me when I asked for silverwear, she hung up two times. It's really not that hard to be nice and shouldn't be having ppl working there who don't know how to handle situations properly. read more

We wanted to give this place a try; it has the funny looking logo and looks like a hipster-styled spot for some chicken. My partner ordered the slider and the tender with light mild and I ordered the 2 sliders with cheese and the mild spice level. Order was given to us literally less than 1 minute after ordering so they are super fast. However, the food was kind of mehhh. The chicken pieces were gigantic, but the flavoring was put on with powder. The powder flavoring made the chicken dry. I got the impression that this place took more time to develop a great brand identity rather than focus on making good chicken. The drink selection was kind of basic too, other chicken places usually have their special version of lemonade or ice tea. What was weird was that they gave us a slice of regular white bread, not toasted or buttered, with the chicken tender, you can keep the bread. This is the best chicken I have had at any fast food restaurant. The chicken is made when it is ordered. There is the most delicious kale slaw on the sandwich. Another new addition to the Seal Beach/Rossmoor fast food joints. Dave's Hot Chicken is the chain Canadian Rapper-Drake invested in. The food is Halal if that is of interest to you. Otherwise, it tastes like spicy fried chicken. Apparently, most people order the #3, which gets you one slider and one chicken tender. The chicken tender was definitely fried and decent. Not quiet juicy. I'm not a fan of kale...but that's what they use to add greens to the slider. That and pickles. Next time I'll stick with the tenders. Dave's sauce has a nice flavor and isn't really spicy itself. I ordered my chicken "hot" (3rd hottest out of the 7 levels they have) and it was not really that hot. The Mac N Cheese....not too much flavor and it was a little soupy. Other reviews share that this place is loud. It is. But, it's not much louder than most other fast food places. It's probably from the natural acoustics of the place, the moderately loud music and the 12 people I saw working in the kitchen. Yes, 12. Most fast food restaurants of this size you'd see 3-6 people back there. Either they're training a lot of new people or they're over staffed. The employees...mostly students. They looked like they weren't really trained thoroughly. One wasn't sure how to restock the napkin holder. Others looked a little lost. But give them time. Either they'll learn...or be shown the door. If you're waiting for your food stand fairly close to the counter. The employees are a little soft spoken. It's a little loud inside for me to enjoy a meal. So I ate outside. Nice clean tables. No umbrellas or shade and no heaters. Not a bad meal. But, I give it 3 stars for the slightly over priced meal (compared to other hot chicken style fast food places), the runny Mac n Cheese and the kale (it's fried chicken...I'm not trying to be healthy). read more

This is our go-to place for hot chicken. If you order on the app, the food is ready when you arrive. If you want your good piping hot, it's still served quickly when you order in the restaurant. The staff is super friendly and efficient and ask if you need more sauce or utensils when you pick up your food. There is air conditioned seating inside or patio tables outside is you want to sit in the sunshine. The new shakes are quite tasty! read more

Dave's Hot Chicken is absolutely amazing every single time. When I go there, the costumer service is always on point. Their tenders is absolutely delicious - so good! Dave's Hot Chicken was created by best friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. Dave, a chef trained in Thomas Keller's (French Laundry) organization set out to create the perfect Hot Chicken by searching, tasting, and frying. The four friends scrounged up $900 to put a tiny stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. The menu was simple, and chicken was the star. And what chicken it is! Sourced and prepared to be the juiciest and most tender imaginable with each piece topped with Dave's own mix of spices ranging from "Mild" to "The Reaper". Arman created Instagram buzz and the lines began to grow. Two nights later, Eater/LA showed up to see what the fuss was about. The next morning's headline read "East Hollywood's Late Night Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind". Almost instantly, the lines stretched around the block. A year later, the boys had the money to open a shop in a hip strip-mall with de_cor by local street artists, where the crowds continued to grow with wait-times of an hour and more. From there, the incredibly craveable "Hot and Spicy" varieties have created a cult following with rave reviews across the U.S. and Canada.

History

Established in 2017.

In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept -- take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw -- they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long. After 6 months of running the pop-up with long lines, the team took the plunge and opened their first physical store in January 2018 in a sleepy strip center in East Hollywood. Demand for their crave-able hot chicken exceeded all expectations and sales have grown every month since opening with consistently long lines throughout the day.

I ordered the #2 Combo, from an amazing worker Mathew, which comes with two tenders, fries, pickles, and their signature Dave's sauce. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining incredibly juicy inside. You can choose your spice level, ranging from No Spice to Reaper, and I went with "Hot"--which delivered just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. Words cannot explain how delightful my experience was at this establishment. This new opening was the most gracious experience and I was not expecting much when I ordered the tenders. Dave's got the best Nashville chicken in the game right now. I've tried mostly all fast food nashville chicken. This is top tier. I have tried Howlin rays also which is a rival to Dave's but Dave's is still top tier. The service is always quick and easy. I love the decor for each place here. Each location is different. Accidentally posted this on the wrong location, but this was in fact meant for the Seal Beach location after dining there on Dec. 27th: Food is good, and staff is friendly, but holy hell was this place dirty. Literally every table was covered in crumbs and receipts, the tables were sticky, your feet stick to the floor when walking through the restaurant. I wouldn't recommend eating there, but takeout is fine. read more

As part of this revamping process, TOGO'S migrated their rewards system to a different platform, and if you successfully migrated your account over, you get a $2 off reward that is valid for 2 weeks. My $2 off reward was going to expire in 2 days, and I was planning a quick trip to the area to visit a couple other businesses in the same intersection, both of which had offers that were going to expire the same day or the following day as well. I normally wouldn't go this far for a TOGO, but was definitely willing to make an exception this time around. This TOGO'S in Cypress is located on the southwest corner of Katella and Knott. The dining space inside is quite ample, much larger than the Long Beach location I must say! There was a large family sitting in the far corner on the left hand side, but towards the right, there was an employee, Logan, who was ready to assist me. As I was looking at the menu, I didn't like how the menu was kind of scrambled around. What do I mean by this? So I was intending to get a mini 3" sandwich to redeem my $2 off since percentage wise, that'd be really good savings there. The right side of the menu specifies the sandwiches that can be made miniature, but the sandwiches are denoted by their assigned numbers. The numbered sandwiches aren't in any particular order, so without Logan's help, I would have had to bounce back and forth between different sides of the menu to understand which sandwiches come in a 3" size, and for how much? Such a cumbersome way to present that part of the menu that I really wish TOGO'S would consider reformatting the menu for ease of readability. But I'm starting to digress. Logan did help me out by specifying the four mini sandwiches that I was initially looking at. I thought about the #3 Turkey and Cheddar, but once he told me the #20 was Albacore Tuna, I decided to go with that. Tuna sandwich for less than $4? Count me in! Logan asked me a couple questions: What type of bread, and would I like all the produce? Since I'm trying to get more whole grains and vegetables in my diet, I said whole wheat and yes, respectively, to his questions. However, Logan was trying pretty hard to sell me on a kids meal, which also comes with chips and a bottled water, despite me not being a kid, except maybe at heart lol. I did ask him how much a Kids Meal was, and he had to go to the register to look it up. It was a couple dollars more than a mini Albacore Tuna sandwich, but since I was planning to get food at a neighboring eatery, I passed on the kids meal and settled for the mini sandwich. While Logan was crafting my sandwich, he asked his co-worker, or maybe supervisor, Brian, to ring me up. After scanning my QR code for the migration offer, the $2 came off, no problem, and I paid. Shortly after I paid, Logan had my sandwich ready in a takeout bag. I asked for a water cup, and he gave me one, no problem as well. I took the sandwich and water cup to a table by the window to enjoy, but the first thing I noticed was a small piece of bread stuck to the outside of the wrapper?! Well, not so great presentation up front, but after unwrapping the sandwich, I found the #20 Albacore Tuna to be quite good! Unfortunately, it seemed Logan missed a few of the vegetables like the olives, jalapenos, and the cucumbers, which you can request in the TOGO'S app. Kind of disappointing, especially since he asked if I'd like all the vegetables before crafting my sandwich, but I suppose for those three in particular, you have to proactively ask? Nevertheless, I enjoyed the tuna in this sandwich, and there was still a good helping of vegetables in the sandwich otherwise. However, $5.75 for a mini is still kind of steep for such a small, but mighty, sandwich. Like I said earlier in the review, there are plenty of tables for customers to sit at, so unless an entire baseball team and their parents are there to celebrate a big W on the field, I doubt you'd see a full house in this TOGO'S. Overall, TOGO'S is still a good solid spot for sandwiches even if they're a little pricier than Jersey Mike's or Subway, but they do stuff the sandos with good quality ingredients! Also, despite the hard, but rather unsuccessful selling job, Logan was still a pretty cool employee to do business with.
