I've been to various Dave's locations, including the LA chains. Most times it's solid hot chicken sandwiches. Not the best I've had, but pretty reliable if you're having the craving. This time I got the #2 which was 2 sliders with fries. I always get mild. Usually I'd say their fries are on the soggy side but I prefer soggy fries so it works out. I asked them to fix it, and they gave me weird look and attitude, and when it came back still wasnt fixed. Have to ask them to fix it again. They're known for their hot chicken that can be adjusted to different spice levels to satisfy all the spice fiends in the world. I came to this location on a Tuesday evening around 9pm. The space was clean and well kept, and there was a good amount of tables. There were more people than I thought there would be, but I guess that's the result of being one of the few restaurants around that's open until 11pm on a weekday. I ordered an Extra Hot Chicken Slider and stole some of my friend's fries. I thought the slider was pretty good. It came with a lot of chicken, and the chicken itself was moist and well seasoned. I didn't actually think the Extra Hot was that spicy, so I'll have to try Reaper in the future. The slider had kale slaw and pickles, but the chicken was definitely the star--the other aspects were unmemorable. The meat is so tender and tastes like real chicken breast not a mix of fake stuffs. The medium spice this time was pretty spicy. I would prob go for mild next time. But i did like the kick of spicy. Ordered the Dave's #3 meal, which came with fries, a chicken slider, and a chicken tender. I kept things demure and opted for the medium spice level. Our party ordered a mix of tenders and sliders, ranging from Lite Mild to Hot, plus one Reaper tender to try. My Mild tender is shown in photo (with sauce - plus white bread which I didn't eat.) Mild had a nice flavor with a little kick. My teen son and hubs liked the Med and Hot respectively. To get Reaper, my DH had to sign a waiver. He and my teen tried bites and said it was edible with a delayed heat - too much to eat straight up. He brought the rest home and might put it in a sandwich tomorrow. Between Dave and me, one of us doesn't know what a slider is. I'm gonna say that it's Dave, and I mean that in a very good way. IMO the epitome of a slider is the White Castle burger: a thin slice of meat on a bun no bigger than a King's Hawaiian roll. In my prime I could put away about a dozen of these mofos and still have room for a frozen custard. So we show up at Dave's for the first time and look at the prices. $15 for just _two_ sliders? I guess that should have been our first clue that these weren't going to be your ordinary slider. The menu is simple - you can either get your chicken without a bun (as a chicken tender) or with a bun (their so-called slider). You have your choice of different heat levels, from completely plain to reaper hot. Other than fries, mac and cheese, and kale slaw, there's nothing more to be had here. My companion and I each ordered the two slider meal. It was only after we had paid that we saw an earlier order come out. These aren't sliders. These are full-size chicken sandwiches, at least equal (if not larger) in size than what you'd get from Chick-Fil-A, on regular size hamburger buns. And we were getting two each. After a short wait our order was ready. We got a couple medium and a couple hot. I decided to stay away from anything spicier, because even though I love a really hot dish, I always perspire profusely to the point that strangers will check up on me to make sure that I'm not suffering from an acute coronary syndrome. The verdict on the food? Overall very good, but extremely salty. The chicken was crispy but moist on the inside. The heat is provided by what seems to be a cayenne powder rather than a sauce. This makes for less messy eating, but the mouth feel of the powder isn't really to my liking. I didn't really appreciate a tremendous different in heat between the medium and the hot. The fries were seasoned as well, but I think it would be better if they weren't because a cleaner taste would counterbalance the spice of the chicken. I don't particularly recommend the cheese on the fries, as they just got soggy after a while. The kale slaw and pickles added a nice cooling element, but I did bite into a somewhat woody stalk of kale in one of my sandwiches. Anyways, this was a tremendous amount of food and we both had to leave our second sandwich for a midnight snack. Service is super cheerful and fast. The restaurant has high ceilings with a colorful graffiti motif on the walls, I suppose to try to capture that LA vibe. Very good experience overall. This particular outlet is in a large strip mall. Located next to other eateries, its a perfect spot if you have a large group with varied taste. There was plenty of parking but we also were off rush hour. The tenders: We chose the "medium" level. Having had the hot we went a step down. While the hot was okay for our palate the first time the medium was quite nice. Strong enough to feel it but not wipe out the palate. The tenders were perfectly fired and battered and the batter was well seasoned. The Dave's sauce was nice and rich and helped balance the heat. The sliders were the same tenders on rolls with slaw and sauce. They were again good with the slaw helping to take the heat and adding a crunch element to it. Was excited to try this place because I'm a big fan of fried chicken. But unfortunately I wasn't a fan of this style of fried chicken. I didn't like the spices they use for the batter, it has a sweet element to it and tastes pretty similar to Indian spices. Their chicken looks really dark for mild heat too so I'm not sure if they just refried old pieces or not.. I also didn't like that their Mac and cheese noodles are very soft and soggy. Definitely overcooked too long and it made the mac and cheese side unappetizing. They have an easy online ordering system. The tender tasted spicier since there wasn't the bun and coleslaw but it does come with a dipping sauce and toast. I would've liked more coleslaw for extra texture in the slider and I wish the chicken was crispier!
